Chapter 1 01 - Twins

Autumn

I've been spending hours checking myself in front of the mirror to see if my decision to wear a skirt was just right. I matched it with a long-sleeved top for today's interview at a company called Jaxon.

Days had also passed when I got fired in a restaurant as a waitress. It's a good thing that I got out of there since I can't stand the anger of the chef whenever he's not in the mood. Add the fact that my back already hurt by resting on Lea's couch.

I started to roll my hair out in front since I've been blow drying it for quite a while. I also sprayed a bit of perfume and got out to wait for a tricycle that'll take me to the place of the interview.

"Tricycle!" I shouted. A tricycle stopped just in front of me. Looking at the guy, I think he's only around my age.

"Where to, Ms. Beautiful?" he asked. I didn't pay attention to his question because I'm used to being praised. Especially if it's about physical looks. Because for me, the beauty of the heart is better than what can be seen by the eyes.

I've been working for so long for myself when the doctors who took care of me died. They were the ones who helped me when I didn't remember anything from my past. They said that they saw me in Europe, alone, and had no one to pay the hospital to discharge me. The couple pitied and helped me.

"Parker Company, please," I answered and listened to the noise outside.

Within a few more minutes, we stopped in front of a tall building. It's taller than the ones I saw on television. The one who owns this is undoubtedly loaded with money.

I gave the tricycle driver 20 pesos worth of money.

"Miss, it's 30, not 20," he said harshly. I rolled my eyes. We did not travel that far, but he's overpricing it. I gave him a 10 peso. He immediately left as I walked inside the building.

Instantly, a guy with blonde hair came over to me. He also had great features, if not for his uniform, he would be mistaken as a model.

"Good morning, ma'am. Welcome to Parker Company," he greeted with such a lively vibe. I greeted him back.

"So, you're the new person who will apply as a receptionist. The interview will happen in room 316. Just be careful because it's close to our boss' office- our boss if you'll pass," he reminded me. Instantly, I smiled and thanked him.

It's good that he told me that their boss' room is close to the interview room. I should stay quiet when I go there. I hope I'm still not late for the interview or else, I'll lose this opportunity that I've been waiting for.

I pressed the elevator button. As it moved up. I feel nervous about what will happen in the interview. I hope that I'll get accepted. When the elevator dinged and opened, I immediately got out and searched for room 316. When I saw it, I instantly knocked, but nobody answered.

I looked around and saw a newspaper on a chair. Jaxon Parker. The picture and the name were highlighted. This guy, even though he's just inside a photo, still looked handsome. What if you meet him in person? I bet that's going to be a whole, different level. My friend would probably laugh at me if she knew that I'm here at Parker Company to apply.

"Mr. Parker is known as the youngest businessman from the Philippines who has 20+ businesses that are top-selling; 50+ partnerships all over the world. And he is also always on the news because of his inspiring story about how he became a successful man. He turned a simple apartment that he had before to a now biggest hotel that you can find anywhere in the world."

He's terrific. With just a simple apartment before, now it's a hotel. And it's not only a simple hotel but the biggest one in the whole world. He has so many achievements. Maybe I'll also be like this if I chose to be a doctor like them.

I was about to sit when I heard a sound coming from the side of the second floor. I went outside to investigate what's there when I saw twins, which, I think, were only one-year-old. I quickly went to their side, worrying about what might happen to them.

I wonder who their parents are. I hope they realize where they left their children.

When I was about to stand up, the twins came close to a vase. It fell and broke. The child was just about to touch it when I shouted help. That frightened the twins. I went to their side to calm them down when they cried. They eventually calmed down, I'm sure that their parents are lovely. They're too young, yet they're already beautiful and handsome.

Nervously, I decided to carry them both down to the receptionist. Their parents might be searching for them. Once I'm at the reception area, the other ran away. I immediately ran and carried the child.

"What do you think you're doing with my children?" A voice so cold came from behind me which startled me. He looks so handsome that my jaw would drop.

I realized he's the one in the newspaper. Don't tell me that's Mr. Jaxon, the one who owns this company?

"Can you stop staring at me? What do you think you're doing with my children?" he repeated that put me back to my senses.

Once I made the baby face him, the child immediately called him da-da. The baby clapped and the other eventually did the same.

Worry was evident on his face. He instantly took them from me.

"Don't worry, da-da is here." He gently patted the child he was holding. It's clear that he loves them.

His heart is just so soft when it comes to his children. He's far from being the cold CEO of the company.

"How did they end up with you? Where is Janice? She is their watcher, fuck," he cussed. I'm still not looking at him. Does he think that I have bad intentions?

"Excuse me, sir, but I want to defend myself. I saw the twins at the corner and carried them to give them back to their parents. I didn't know that you're their father, so please, understand," I answered, smiling at him. He ignored me. Suddenly, one of his children held onto my leg and spoke, "Ma-ma."

I felt their father's stare as I carried his child that was clapping in joy. "Da-da," the child said, causing me to look at him.

"Sir, the twins are missing-" The woman's sentence cut off when she saw the twins that she was talking about.

"You're late, what was my order to you?" Sir Jaxon said to her. She immediately bowed her head.

"Sorry, sir," she answered.

I don't know her, but I need to make sure that it's not her fault "Sir, don't blame her. I'm sure that it's hard to handle two kids; the reason why she lost her attention to them. These two were alright, no bruises or anything," I told him. Even if he wasn't that convinced, he still nodded.

I saw Janice, rolling her eyes at me.

Did I say anything wrong?

"Uhm, I didn't know that you're already married," I shyly said. A soft laugh came from him. He's still handsome even when he's laughing.

"You didn't read the newspapers, did you?" he asked and I nodded.

"I'm not married. I just have two children to take care of," he mentioned. I nodded again. When I looked at the clock, I realized that I'm too late for the interview.

"I'm sorry, but I need to go now. Good morning, Sir Jaxon and Ma'am Janice," I said and rushed to get to the elevator.

I knew it. I'll be late for the interview.

My hunch was right when I saw the word closed. I slumped on the floor. I was about to cry when someone spoke behind me.

"Sir Jaxon wants you to meet him in his office, room 318," Janice said. I quickly stood up since I didn't have any reason to meet him. Janice once again rolled her eyes at me. Thoughts ran in my mind. How would I find another job now?

"Don't try to do anything that you'll regret," Janice reminded me before leaving me alone when we got to the office.

I was amazed by the beautiful decorations around me. But what caught my attention was the view up here. Perhaps, Sir Jaxon does love the country where he grew up, but I guess he didn't experience living in a place that has too much noise.

Amazement was what I felt while I watched vehicles move, looking small like ants from here.

"Ehem."

With my heart beating fast, I turned around and saw Sir Jaxon. He was relaxed while leaning near the door. One of the buttons of his polo was screaming about how sexy he was.

"Sir, why did you call me here?" I ask him.

He smiled before answering me, "To interview you."

Chapter 2 02 - His Proposal

Autumn

"What?" I asked because I didn't hear what he said.

"Can you repeat it?" I asked again but, he just stares at me and started to speak.

"Is that the way you talk to your soon-to-be boss?" He said while I started to apologize because of what I did, that's right, I don't have any rights to ask him and the fault is mine because I didn't focus on what he said.

"Ah, my apologies, Sir Jaxon, I didn't mean to not hear the last sentence you said. I am just mesmerized by the view up here," I said while flashing a smile. He just stared at me in the eyes like he was reading what's on my mind.

"Oh, well, is this your first time to be here in my hotel?" he asked, emphasizing the word my. The truth is, this is my first time to be here in his hotel, and I could say that this is so amazing.

Such an honor for me to be here. I know Lea wouldn't believe it when I say that I saw Mr. Parker's office, not on television, but in reality.

"Yes, your office is so breathtaking. The view from here is my favorite part. I am sorry for asking, but may I ask why I am here?" I asked. It's too late when I realized what I said. It's like we're going to do something here.

I shook my head because of the thought that it is not right. I need to control it and don't think about things that were not about the reason why I came here. The only reason I am here is because of the job. I don't want to lose this opportunity.

"Oh, yes, I am the one who will interview you for the position," he replied. I felt my blood wake up because of what he said.

That means the position of being a receptionist is yet taken. And take note, he will be the one who will interview me.

"Why do you want to be a receptionist?" he asked while I was thinking of what I should reply. The reason why I want to be a receptionist is that I am tired of being a waitress. It is so noisy and the chef there is so rude. I needed this job so that I could earn money. I dream of having a flower shop in the future.

"I want to get this position because I know I will be good at it. I am a very organized person. I can manage my customers and comfortably talk to others," I answered with so much confidence. I could say that I am qualified to get the job that I want and manage it in my way.

"Do you have any experience of being a receptionist?" he added, not showing any amazement on his face.

"Sir, I don't have any experience of being a receptionist, but I know how to handle my patience and I can also-" He cut off by tapping his fingers on the table, causing a loud, thump noise.

"Don't repeat the same answer on the other question. Can you skip the part of what is written in your resume? I want to hear an impromptu and real answer," he said. His eyes were looking at the pen he was holding. I didn't know that the interview would be like this. I thought he would just ask what was on the resume.

"So, you're a waitress before. Why should I entrust you this position?" he asked. His eyes were looking now in my eyes. I don't know what to answer.

"Just like what I said-" He cut off again. What should I say? I felt my cheeks going red because of the anger I was starting to feel.

"Tut-tut, if you're just going to repeat your answer, I don't want to hear it."

I tried to calm myself because I can't concentrate anymore.

"Um, I am a companion before of a professional doctor so-" He cut me off again. I'm about to burst out in anger when he stood up and he leaned his face to me.

"Can you stop saying what was on your resume and give me something real?" he said. My anger faded when I saw his eyes. It is so mesmerizing. It is so beautiful, but how can I speak when he always cut me off?

I frowned. He gave me a nod that I didn't understand.

It seemed like I needed to try again. He was probably testing my patience on how long I can handle it.

If he wants a real answer, I will give it to him.

He fixed his sitting position, so I started to say a word.

"If you want the truth, Mr. Jaxon, I will say it to you. I am just a waitress when my acting parents died in an accident. It's been a year and I still don't know what happened to me or who I am. I don't even know who my birth parents were. The only thing I know is I need to survive every day because no one will do it for me. I need money to feed my empty stomach. Yes, I don't have any experience of being a receptionist, not like the others who are applying. I am just sharing a house with my best friend, but I have a lot of patience because of where I live. You know, in a slum," I said, realizing what I spilled, I don't know how I can face him anymore.

"Did my answer satisfy what you want to hear, sir?" I continued, not giving him any gaze.

"Ms. Saunders," he called. Shyness spread through my body. How can I talk to him when he already knows the full story of my life?

"You're so brave," he praised me. Is this real? But I felt something heavy in my chest. It was so massive that even my closest friend didn't know what I had been through.

"Maybe God put me in this situation because He knew that I could do it," I said, trying to smile in front of him.

"You're so brave to let me know what you had been through. I don't want to waste the opportunity to have you as the caretaker of my twins," he said, but the words he said didn't sink in my head. What did he say?

"Tell me, do you like children?" he asked. It surprised me. What is the connection of it for being a receptionist?

"Uhm, what is the connection between children and applying for the position to be a receptionist?" I asked, not answering his question. He just fixed his gaze on me.

"The position was taken because you didn't show up in the interview a while ago. They already hired someone," he explained, but I feel sad. I just let the opportunity pass.

I was about to stand up when he held my wrist. "You didn't understand what I said?" he asked. I was left confused while sitting on the chair.

"The interview is for being the caretaker of my children. I could say that you have the qualities I was looking for," he said, taking what he said as praise. The interview that made me cry earlier is for being a caretaker. So it means that he pushed my patience to the limit so he would know if I am qualified for being a caretaker?

"Well, if you accept my offer, how about you live in my mansion?" he asked. This time, I am speechless. It's like a boyfriend inviting me to live with him. Am I ready to see him everyday and try not to pay attention to his attractive face?

Chapter 3 03 - Tyron

Spring

One year has passed when I was catenated to become the heiress of a business. Everything that happened to me was frustrating this past week.

I was busy doing my PowerPoint presentation but suddenly got interrupted when my secretary knocked on my office door.

"Give me some good news," I abruptly said to her when she entered my office.

"Ma'am, the CEO of the Reign Company, wants to pull out their investment," she gently uttered. I abruptly held my temple and massaged it. My day has been hell, and she just heightened it up.

"Get out!" I yelled at her. She got nervous because she ran away from my office.

When she closed the door, I fell on my seat. I need to relax, even for a short period. I honestly do not know what I am going to do. Our sales declined this past month because of the newly opened flower shop in France that hauled our customers. That's the reason why those investors decided to pull out their stocks from ours.

I know that later when I get home, my dad will dispute me again, and will just repeat all the things they have done to me.

I don't even know that this company will be like this! I think it is better if I meet Ajax. He'll surely obliterate all my frustrations that I was feeling.

I bought a beer for us to drink. I don't have the eagerness to attend the board meeting now because I know that something good will not happen.

I have a key to Ajax's condo because I always sleep there. We have been together for two years. I don't want to be chained to a man, but my father wants me to marry to boost up our company. He already did this before, but the man decided to divorce, and I had the chance to be with my fiancé, Ajax.

When I opened the door, I saw two shoes on the floor. What angered me is the other pair of shoes that has a heel. It's a stiletto. I don't want to believe what my mind was suspecting unless I saw everything.

I slowly entered with beers in my hand. The door is slightly opened. My whole body stiffened from what I saw. This usually happens to a girl who caught their man having sex with another girl, but I can't believe that this will happen to me.

I don't know what I am supposed to do. I now know what that it feels like when heaven and earth fell upon you.

This day has been a bad, fucking day. A company pulled out their investment stocks, and then this happened! My fiancé just cheated on me.

What a fucking day!

I chose the thing I want to do. I threw the two beers I've been holding to the painting above the headboard of the bed that shocked him. He abruptly pushed the girl, whom I recognized as Amore, the girl I've been jealous of for a long time, even before. He told me that they don't have a relationship. They're just workmates.

I don't know if I'm supposed to laugh because they got wet from the beer I threw out to them, or feel the pain. After all, I didn't listen to my sibling when he said that Ajax is a cheater.

I laughed when he just suddenly hugged me, looking crazy wearing his shirt like nothing had happened. Some men do things that looked like they didn't even care for doing perfect shits.

"Babe, let me explain. What you saw was wrong," he said while hugging me. My tears were deliberately falling to my cheeks, like a hare running in a race.

"Wrong! Can you see this ring?!" I said while pushing him away. I immediately put my ring off my finger and threw it at the girl.

"You are too stupid! And you, girl, you will be blessed! Here's my palm!" I rushed to her angrily and slapped her face with full exert of effort. She did not fight back. I hurriedly went out of his condo and threw his keys somewhere.

I immediately rode to my car and drove it fast. I don't know where I am going. If I go to our house, I'll just see my parents' faces who will scold me because of my stupidity. I stopped at a park and abruptly went out of my car when suddenly, there's a man I bumped into. I fell off the ground. I could've shouted, but I felt more pain from what I've experienced today.

I saw him panicking because many people were already looking at us. That's why he offered his handkerchief to me.

"Miss, are you hurt? I'm sorry. I was on my phone," he said, asking for forgiveness. I'm shocked when he suddenly turned his back on me and looks like he wants me to ride on him. Looks like he'll carry me on his back.

"It is embarrassing if you cry here. I know someplace for you to pour that out," he added from what he said. I do not know if I'll trust him, but I just saw myself riding on his back. I can even smell his perfume. I can tell that it is a Tom Ford Noir because my dad also has this.

"What happened to you?" he asked. I also don't know if it is okay to open up to a stranger. However, he looks trustworthy. I also want to pour these things that happened to me today. And we will not see each other because I have loads of work in our company.

We stopped in a quiet place, with no people. What you can only see are the river and some plants. Is this the place he was talking about?

"You know what? This is my favorite place because every time I go here, the pain, hatred, and sadness that I feel fade.

They always say that if you want to lessen all your burdens in life, just shout it out loud. Don't you want to give it a shot?" he asked, smiling.

He is a gorgeous man. He is handsome.

"You go first," I told him shyly while wiping my makeup.

"I don't even have-"

I tried to turn my back at him. He sighed.

"Okay, okay," he said, raising his two hands as a form of surrender.

"I don't want this. I don't want to become a CEO because I need to marry a person I don't even know. How can I love a woman when I don't know anything about her? Tell me, Mom and Dad, what's your problem? Why do I need to marry that woman? Why me?!" he shouted angrily. My mouth fell because we have the same situation. I immediately tapped his shoulder. He even smiled slyly at me.

"Hey, that also happened to me. Karma got back to me because I chose the wrong person. He cheated on me. I even have a problem with my sibling because of that man," I told him.

"I had a girlfriend before. We went to the States. I asked her to marry me, but her answer is no because she doesn't want a life connected to a business. She wanted me to be the only one who had to work because she doesn't know anything about business. I understand her, but not my parents. They told me to break up with her because I won't get anything from her. But I fought and proposed to her. She just hugged me and said that she got pregnant by another man while I was in the States for our business," he continued and started to cry. This is my first time to see a man cry. Not even my dad.

We slowly felt each other's vibe, and later on, we started to laugh. They're right that it's better to open up with someone you do not know because they won't judge you.

"By the way, what's your name?" he asked me. I stopped talking.

"It is okay if you will not tell it. I'm Tyron, son of the owner of Seeds Company," he said. He reached out his hands to mine, asking for a handshake.

I slowly accepted his hand and smiled at him. "My name is Spring Saunders. We have a Flower Company," I told him. And from that moment, all my frustrations fade away.

P.S. Autumn and Spring are twins. I wrote her point of view because she has involvement and connection to the story.
