BROKEN, YET UNBROKEN

It was a sunny day, the skies were blue, and the waters were flowing gently and calmly. You could hear the laughter of children playing in the forest," "One, two, three here I come, ready when you are" yelled one of the kids. it was perfect, absolutely perfect until..."Help! help!" It wasn't so perfect anymore.

The adults approached the kids hurriedly "What happened?!" They asked the kids and none could speak they all kept looking in a particular direction, a hole to be exact where one of the kids had fallen into while playing a game of hide and seek, They hurriedly swung into action while the parents of the child were kept from approaching the accident.

The doors to the park hospital were swung open with so much force, that it could have fallen off its hinges, and the child who had fallen into the ditch was rushed in with the parents in tow hurriedly demanding medical assistance for their child.

"Doctor Bane" the mother of the child called out and rushed the doctor who began to check the child's vitals." What happened?" he asked, still focused on the child before him," She fell into a ditch and lost consciousness and..and..oh moon goddess please don't let my baby girl suffer I beg of you" the mother cried out.

"We need to carry out an immediate surgery on her, she's lost so much blood, and her hip bone is disfigured we need to fix it before it's too bad" Doctor Bane stated while signaling to his assistant to get a consent form for the parents of the child to sign before the surgery can take place.

"Do whatever needs to be done Doctor, you have our consent just...we don't want to lose her please" the father of the child spoke up for the first time since the incident." You have my word" stated Doctor Bane

Two hours, two whole long-suffering hours before

the surgery was concluded, and the family of the patient and family friends were waiting patiently and praying for some sort of miracle" Hey it's okay, she's a strong kid and I know she will survive" Luna said before the parents could reply the doors to the theater opened and Doctor Bane walked out and everyone stood to their feet and attacked the doctor with questions."How's my baby, is she okay?" "Were there any complications?" "When can we see her?"

Everyone was asked all at once, trying to overwhelm the doctor." She is fine and we managed to stop the bleeding and fix her hip bone but none of you can see her till tomorrow, she needs rest..lots of it" the doctor replied to all their questions "But" this caught the attention of the family "But? What's going on Doc?" asked the father to the child.

"I need to speak with you two in my office right now" stated the doctor and he escorted them to his office and gave them a seat" There will be a problem in the future for your child, "he said

The parents stared at him, holding their breaths expecting the worst." Your child will develop a limp, and to be honest a bad painful limp which could become part of her for life" the doctor said uncomfortably.

It was perfect until..it wasn't so perfect anymore, especially for the broken child.

JASMINE POV

"Get up, you lazy fat cow" A bucket of cold water was dumped on me as a sort of alarm by the only soon-to-be alpha Oliver Blade. I slowly got up from my now-soaked bed and nearly slipped because of the water" Really?!"Oliver shouted "You need some sort of princess treatment before you get up and make breakfast for the park right? Is that it?" he barked at me.

I lowered my gaze to the wet floor and replied" No sir" I was scared, I didn't want to get hit by him so early before going to school I couldn't afford to endure so much pain at school today." Then do yourself a flipping favor and get dressed in 5 minutes and be downstairs to make breakfast for the whole park or so help me moon goddess I will make you feel so much pain" he whispered right into my ears which sent shivers not pleasant ones down my spine.

"Yes sir" I replied and he stepped back before growling at me and exiting my room. I fell to the floor shivering both from the cold water dumped on me and the fear Oliver gives me whenever he confronts me.

I got ready quickly and descended downstairs to make breakfast for the members occupying the park house and also do my daily chores around the park house before I could get ready for school.

Oh, silly me before we proceed any further down my pathetic life story I would give you a brief introduction about myself. My name is Jasmine Watkins and I used to be the daughter of the beta of my park which is called the Crescent Silver Park but after the accident I had during my childhood days which left me with a limp, I kind of became an outcast. It all started with my parents no longer having time for me, I couldn't go to the hospital for my regular checkups which the doctor strictly advised my parents to do and I couldn't attend my physiotherapy sessions because...you guessed it no time for me at all.

My Father, Dylan Watkins was sworn in as the new Beta of our park when I was 14 years old and it kind of got into everyone's head in my family, especially my mother Martha Watkins, and I think no wait...I know that's what occupied everyone's time and I became neglected, I became a burden to my parents and siblings Faye who is the youngest, and Murphy my older brother.

And that's how the maltreatment began, from my own family to the members of the park and I was finally demoted to an omega by the alpha of the park Ethan Blade because well I was and am useless of course and the park needed a maid of course. My limp hardly lets me get much done even walking is a big problem but I have learned to live with the pain not just from my hip but from my family and park members. So yay.. story of my life.

The park house was quiet after everyone had left for their various activities and I was left to do every chore in the park house the park house is huge. like I mean enormous and it was a hassle cleaning it every day before going to school but I didn't mind, I have gotten used to it over the past few years when my parents decided that I would have to deal with my problem on my own and what better way than sending me to this hell hole.

"What are you still doing here?"Luna Lily Blade asked the moment she walked in and found me still dealing with the chores. Luna Lily was the only person who showed me kindness in this park, no other person not even her mate showed me kindness. Her mate ignored me while her son well you know did his bullying with his friends but Luna Lily was different and she tried to convince the park to treat me better but it was futile and I told her not to worry about me."Just trying to complete my duties Luna" I replied.

She looked displeased at my reply "Well dear, you can leave the rest of the chores and get to school before it's too late" she said. Relief is an understatement of what I felt when I heard those words "Thank you so much Luna" "You take care okay?" she replied while squeezing my shoulder" Sure".

I hurriedly left for school and reached there just in time for the first lesson to almost begin. My teacher Mrs. Harold Claire who was a middle-aged woman was doing a roll call and I was so glad about the letter of my name. She noticed me and called me out" Watkins?" I froze well, cheers to another scolding "You're late" I gulped and looked around as every student's eyes in my class were on me "Sorry Mrs Harold, I didn't mean to come late" she scoffed at my reply "Come on Watkins, I am getting a bit bored with that same old reply" she said. Before I could reply, Valerie Collins who happens to be Oliver's lover shouted" She's broken Mrs. H, disabled ain't no way the omega can meet up with anything or anyone on time" This caused the whole class to burst out laughing and I lowered my gaze to the ground biting my lips trying my hardest not to let them see my tears.

"Alright, alright that's enough do take a seat Watkins this is your last warning, the next time you're late you get detention for a week got it?"I nodded slowly and walked to my seat which was at the very end of the class with only myself on the row, because no one wants to befriend a disabled right?

I placed my head on my desk and let the tears flow, when will the tauntings stop, when will the humiliations end, when will people learn to see me and not my disability, When?

The school bell rings for the dismissal of school and I need to tell you it's my favorite and worst time because I get to leave this cave called a school and limp right back into the hell hole I call home. I sigh heavily and tiredly limp over to my locker to keep my materials and hurriedly head home to make lunch and dinner for the park before I receive pounding from you know who.

As I got home, I dropped my stuff in my room which is now dry from the water that was poured on it earlier, and got downstairs and straight to making lunch and dinner at the same time. It's tiring but what can I do about huh? Nothing, absolutely nothing

"Hey mutt" Carlos Yarn who was Oliver's best friend called me out, I paused what I was doing and turned to face him with my gaze lingering on the ground" What can I do for you, Sir?"I replied" Well is lunch ready everyone is starving like crazy" I nodded a yes and he told me to hurry up and set it on the huge dining table. Well I did just that to avoid any form of beating because as they say" A hungry wolf is a deadly wolf"

After lunch, I cleaned up the entire dining table and decided to get some rest before I set things up for dinner. As I closed my eyes for some sleep I heard my name being yelled by someone, well ...there goes my rest, I got up slowly and walked to where my name was being called and honestly I wish I pretended to be asleep because I didn't see the punch coming which knocked me off my feet and I fell with a thud on the wooden floors.

"That's for being so slow, you lowly mutt" spat Oliver at me while I whimpered in so much pain I couldn't scream out my punishment will only worsen." Alpha Ethan asks for your presence in his office you better not keep him waiting you slug" he growled at me. He walked away and I was able to get up, dust myself, and limp to the alpha's office.

"Come in" the alpha's deep voice echoed and I walked in and shut the door behind me."Jasmine, I want to bring to your notice the new moon festival that is just around the corner" The new moon festival is an occasion where every unmated werewolf that is up to age seeks for their mate. Well, I prayed to the moon goddess every year not to pair me with any of the park members when the time for the festival arrived I hope the prayers were answered.

"...And you are going to be helping my mate and other females of the park to set things up for the festival" I blinked once, then twice what? I didn't want to be involved in anything that had to do with the festival but it was a command so I reluctantly agreed and I was sent away.

After I set dinner for the park and cleaned up which took forever, I happily and tiredly went to bed. As I lay in my bed I thought about the festival, I thought about my mate, and my family, and wondered if I would ever be loved by anyone, as I drifted off to sleep I prayed to the moon goddess to give me strength for tomorrow. But I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched by someone. Who though?

JASMINE'S POV

"Jasmine could you help out with the decorations"

"Could you help set the drinks and the food"

"Make sure the lighting is just right"

"Hey Jasmine..."

Ugh can't a poor limp girl catch a break. I thought as I slumped on a chair due to.exhaustion from all the work going on.

From the decorations to the food and drinks and the moon everything was perfect for this event, but just one thing wasn't right for this event, yeah you guessed right...the park members. I sigh hoping to be excused to go down to my quarters but surprise surprise" Hey Jasmine, I think you will have to stay back for a refill of the drinks and food and to clean up after the event is concluded" Luna Lily said shattering my plans to rest and avoid this festival "Sure Luna, whatever you say" I replied forcefully smiling

"Oh honey, I know it's tough but just hang in there for a while alright" she kept going "And I hope you find your mate tonight" she smiled while hoping for the very thing I prayed against "Oh yeah, I hope so too" or not I say to myself. She nods before excusing herself. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.

"Well, well, well" Oh come on moon goddess, I turn to see my siblings Faye and Murphy "Hey guys"

I say to them, trying to sound cheerful" You know no one wants a disabled like you right ?"Faye blurts out, Yep just keep rubbing my disability in my face "You don't have to keep reminding me of my problem Faye" I reply and she scoffs" Yeah right" Murphy hasn't said anything and has a blank look on, I try to say something but he just walks away from me leaving Faye behind "Hey wait up" she calls out to him and finally peace at last and I hoped it would be like this till the end of the party.

As the festival commenced with the alpha's opening speech everyone was mingling and socializing. Some wolves found their mates and well began to to do some intimate kinds of stuff in public while some just came for the food and drinks. I was on standby to know when I was needed and that's when it happened.

My wolf, Zammy started to feel restless...and this has never happened before, I thought my wolf was broken just like me but I guess I was wrong. I got my wolf quite late and the number one reason was because of my disability after I got her I couldn't shift because the doctor advised strongly against shifting to avoid damaging the hip more so I couldn't go on runs, I had no idea what my wolf looked like and I think that's what caused her to keep to herself...But not anymore.

"Zammy...is everything ok?" I ask mind linking her, waiting patiently for a reply of some sort and all I got was a grunt." That's okay Zammy, whenever you're ready..." Before I could complete whatever I was saying it hit me like really hard, my mate's scent, citrus and a blend of pines and it was amazing but I wasn't happy about it I didn't want my mate from this park. Oh well, thank you moon goddess for ruining my life.

But I wanted to know who the unlucky fellow was so I began to search allowing my wolf to take the lead and she did. She kept running in circles in my head and panting so loud which is the most sound I have heard from her but I brushed that off and decided to focus on the issue ahead, then I saw him the unlucky fellow who I knew wouldn't want me and same for me too.

" This has to be some sort of darn joke right?"Oliver whispered but I could hear him and so could the people around him too "What's the problem dude?"Carlos asked and looked between him and me well guess what? we are mates, I just wanted to disappear from the party.

Oliver kept staring at me with so much disgust and hatred "Hah" "No way, no flipping way will I ever be mated to a disabled, limping slug like you" he said out loud, and everyone heard. The music stopped playing and everyone's attention was on us.."I can't deal with this, you will never be the Luna of this park and I am pretty sure no park member wants that" Oliver kept on going and breaking my heart, I saw something like this coming but I just didn't expect him to reject me like this in public, I felt so bad for Zammy who kept whimpering in my head.

"I Oliver Blade soon to be alpha of the Crescent Silver Park reject you Jasmine Watkins as my mate and Luna"
