The nark traffic jam was immovable, and cars even had to park for long before any move. The road was filled with people who no longer wished to wait in their various cars anymore; they were hasting to their workplaces by trekking some distance. Their jobs meant a lot to them and in such Urban areas, it was difficult or nearly impossible to survive without a job or a helping hand from rich relatives.
It was barely 8 O'clock in the morning and the road was already locked. On normal days, the traffic would be mere, but on Fridays, everyone was stuck up on the road. It seemed as though the entire city followed the same route to their various destinations. As if Friday was cursed. This Friday was the worst because no traffic controllers seen on duty and everyone wanted to be ahead of others. The horns from different vehicles parked and even curses from crazy drivers were heard. Causing the worst noise pollution.
"Ugh, this is absurd. I hate this and fuck, the noise is deafening." Jayden, a young man from a wealthy home, was also stranded as well in the traffic jam. He was an heir of a famous billionaire family. He already called for help from the government, and they promise to rescue in no time.
"Very soon sir!" His personal assistant shivered as he spoke in a shaky too. Jayden rolled his eyes at him and looked away.
Loverina who was caught up as well in the traffic, followed those trekking. She could not waste more time in the bus she boarded as it was a situation relating to life or death. While in a haste, she was pushed unexpectedly by someone running opposite her direction. Loverina lost her balance and hit her back severely on something. It was painful because she scowled her face but then, she did not even turn to look at what she boomed into, as she kept walking the way.
"Sorry!" It was all, Loverina yelled and continued on her way. She was all sweaty and exhausted.
It was a Hyundai Equus Limousine. Unknown to her, she broke the left side mirror. Though the pain was great, she was already late and things might get worst if she did not get to her destination on time. Loverina looked ahead from where she stood and sighted the hospital, she sighed and fastened her steps.
"What the fuck! And who the hell is that bitch?" Jayden roared from inside the limousine, as Loverina accidentally hit it. He only saw her figure as she walked away, but did not see her face or how dirty she looked.
"I don't know her, sir!" Andrew replied almost immediately, and it provoked Jayden the more. Andrew was Jayden's Valente man, he knew Jayden so well. If there was no answer given, he could lose his job but if given an answer, he would frown, depending on how the question was answered. Jayden looked at him as if he was the one who broke the side mirror, and Andrew swallowed hard.
"You better gather information about her and bring her to me or else, you pay for the damages." Jayden barked coldly and, to affright in the car, increased.
Jayden happens to be the first child of a trillionaire. They were not the richest, but rich enough to shake any nation and were well-respected. Jayden was always a sinful, impish man, he cared about no one except for two women he loved so much. One was his mother and the other he longed to see.
He loved women and his parents feared he might be tagged off as a womanizer; it might chase away sponsors that wish to invest with them. Some rumors have it that he slept with almost every female staff at the company, but no one dared to say it publicly. Not even the magazines or Newspaper companies dared to publish such article.
For years, Jayden refused to visit his family secret house in New York. The house was built without the knowledge of the media and so, no one could tell much about them. In the secret house was where the family meeting would take place and even family conflicts, resolved without the interference of the media. Unfortunately for Jayden, his mother forced him to visit, and that was how he got stuck in the never moving traffic jam.
"Yes, sir. Right away!" Andrew quickly grabbed his smartphone and dialed a private number. He picked up his laptop and placed it aside. The security agency of New York, he called, seemed to have picked up as he placed the phone on his right ear and avoided eyes contact with his boss, "Keep the records of the CCTV footage for ..." he opened the car and stepped out. While talking, he got to the driver's side and whispered while putting his call on hold, "The road safety officers will be here soon. Try not to provoke him!" The driver, who understood the statement already, nodded furiously and Andrew walked away. Placing back his smartphone on his ear. He was soon lost in the midst of the crowd.
Loverina got to the hospital and ran straight off to her grandma's ward. Just as she pushed the door opened, she saw the doctor, and fear gripped her.
"Grandma Clara!" Loverina called out.
Grandma Clara and the doctor turned to Loverina and as soon as she set her eyes on her grandma's pale face, she signed and walked in, shutting the door behind. Grandma Clara was so weak to turn properly, but for the fact her body moved, calmed Loverina's troubled mind.
Loverina walked closer to her grandma's sick bed and sat by the side. Then she turned to face the doctor, "I got scared after your call. What is it this time?" she asked.
The middle-aged male doctor gave a pathetic expression and avoided Loverina's eyes but focused the gaze at Grandma Clara, "You see the thing is that, your grandmother needs urgent treatment as soon as possible. Her immune system can no longer fight, they are frail and most of her active cells are dead. The illness is eating her up and she might not stay long enough." He paused and took a breath, "You need to get the money within two days, else it might be too late for her and she will eventually." He looked at Loverina, "You know what I mean, right?" He asked and she nodded continuously.
"Thank you. I will get it soon." Loverina reassured like she had somewhere she could get the money from. She turned to face her weak grandmother. Poor old woman, she looked so sick and only had a little girl by her side.
As the doctor walked out of the room, Loverina sat properly on the bed with one leg hung above the ground. She gently grabbed her grandma's hand really tight and muttered, "Grandma Clara, I do not know to get the money. Our friends gave what they have, but I used it to buy for something the doctor wanted me to pay for. Now, there is nothing. No money and I don't know where to get it. Grandma Clara, please don't give up yet. Keep fighting it for my sake. I promise, I will get the money. Maybe half for now, so the treatment will commence. I must get you out of here alive." She swore and cleaned her tears.
Loverina could not for once imagine life without Grandma Clara. She was only 18 years old, and Grandma Clara was her only relative. No one cares so much and treated her with so much love like her grandmother. Loverina doesn't know her mother, and her father abandoned her even before she was born. Her grandma saved Loverina from being taken to the orphanage home. She had nothing to offer to the little girl, but she ensured the girl was happy always. When Loverina got to know about what her parents did, it did not make much impact on her since she had enough love given to her by Grandma Clara.
Grandma Clara had some years rolling down. Loverina saw them and wiped them off, "No, grandma. Don't cry!" She pleaded and rested her head on her grandma's chest. She was sobbing and could hear the fast pounding of her grandmother's heart. Grandma Clara freely moved her right hand and dropped it on her granddaughter's back. She wished she could help her little girl, but even words can't come out. The touch on Loverina made her pouted as the pain she got when she hit the side mirror returned, but she overlooked it and turned to look at her grandmother, "Do you promise not to leave me here all alone in this wicked world?" She asked and Grandma Clara, blinked her eyes in respond since, she was too weak to talk and was still surviving with the artificial oxygen. Loverina rested her head back on her Grandma.
At the Oscars family house, some of the staffs where out to welcome Jayden. And Jayden's white limousine drove in just as Andrew had informed them. The driver parked right in front of the house and a man approached the door.
"Welcome sir!" The man who opened the door, said in a polite manner and had a smile on. He was one of the man servant, picked of recent to work for the Oscars family. He looked neat as though he was on an interview. Jaden have never seen him before and so, looked away. The man servant too dared not to look directly at his master and so, faced downwards.
Looking so handsome in his black suit, he stepped out of the car and one could tell how dangerous he was only glancing at him. He always hard an evil look and never really showed emotions to anyone. Though he smiled while staring around but even the new servants, doubted it and shivered.
"Oh my world! Look at how big you've grown. You look so handsome and when last I saw you, you were but ten years." His young step mother, Margret, walked up to him and held on his cheeks. Jayden was taller and huge, even with his step mother's height on her heels, she still couldn't reach him.
Jayden face suddenly formed up a frown and rolled his eyes. He hated her and wished she would just disappear from the surface of the Earth. He turned his head to avoid looking directly at her when he saw his nanny.
"You are still here!" He said with excitement ringing in his tone.
"Your parents await your arrival." Nanny Rose said while pretending not to have heard him, to avoid issues with anyone, especially his step mother.
His step mother was still trying to gain his attention and all he did was to snub her and face his nanny, an ordinary maid. His Nanny however, avoided eyes contact as she faced down to the ground like the other servants. Yes, she trained him but it does not give her the right to claim as part of the family.
"Yeah, that is true. Come in!" Just step mother still trying to make herself known to him. She hand his hand but he gently removed it and did not even look at her face to see her lour.
"He is here!" A tiny voice announced his presence to those inside the house and started to run towards Jayden.
Jayden heard the tiny voice, it sounded very familiar. He looked up and his eyes widened with shock. Finally, there was some trace of excitement written all over his face. His heart was pounding fast as the figure ran through the entrance stairs to get to him. His eyes couldn't believe but he managed to whisper, "My Angel is that really you?" She reached him and held him so tight to herself. For someone who doesn't know them, will laugh at what he said but it was the nickname he gave her, 'My Angel!'
"I have missed you so much! I just cannot believe you came." Her voice sounded as lovely as she looked. She had some trace of tears rolling down her cheeks as she smiled from his shoulder. Though she couldn't reach him even with her heels, so tipped toed.
Jayden hugged her real tight, "I missed you too, My Angel." He cleaned her tears and kissed her forehead, "You even more beautiful now!" he complimented while admiring her.
Alexis blushed and crossed her hand with his, "Mum is waiting!" Instantly, he knew she was referring to his mother and he nodded obediently. Alexis was the second woman he loved so much and so, he would obey any order given from her.
Jayden matched into the house with Alexis by his right. His step mother, Nancy, stepped in after them and gave a fake smile as if she wasn't burning with hatred. Jayden who caredless about anything, looked around and saw that everything looked the same but some things were added to give the room a more glamorous look. And he smiled immediately his eyes fell on his mother.
Amanda Oscar was sitting on a sofa when her son approached. She cleaned her medicated glasses and smiled at his direction. She smiled even more when she saw the way he held Alex.
"My beautiful goddess. You look gorgeous as always." He praised his mother as he took her hand into his and kissed it.
For him, his mother, was his first love and he always treated her as one. Alexis moved away to allow the mother and son moment.
Amanda gradually got up from the sofa and embraced her son. She was so excited to see him after six years. She did not wear heels so she was not too tall but was tall enough to rest her head on his shoulder. Truly, she was his mother. Her height was excellent.
"Don't you dare to praise me when you look so breathtaking." Amanda teased and everyone in the room smiled, except for Nancy.
"Why won't he, when he looks so much like his father, me!" Oscar Led joked from behind and the bright smile on Jayden's face, disappeared.
He turned to face with father with no sort of emotion or a spark of excitement. Only hearing his father's voice made his heart frown, "It been a while son. Do you not miss your father too?" he added with a grin.
"Yeah, I did!" Jayden replied drily and immediately turned right back to face his mother.
Oscar knew his son was still mad at him for the event that occurred years ago, but how then can he apologize to him. He tried to swallow up his emotions and smiled. Nancy approached him as her heels made sounds in the absurd silence that fell in the room.
"Please sit with me. The chief said lunch will be served soon." Amanda finally broke the silence and Jayden obeyed.
After sitting, he signaled Alex to come over, "Mum, you did not talk me she was coming over." Jayden quarreled his mother, jokely.
Amanda couldn't help but laugh. Alexis came forth and had no space to sit because she did not wish to disturb Amanda. Jayden noticed her frustration and tapped his laps. Alexis surrendered and sat on his lap and Amanda who was busy watching them, laughed again.
"She was the surprise i told you off. I knew her presence will do you alot of good." His mother really knew him well, she was correct, "I don't see Andrew with you, why? He told me he was coming with you." she continued.
"Something came up, so he got down along the road. He will come home soon." Jayden immediately changed the topic, "So the family is having a big meeting or it is just a get together thing?" he asked as his eyes scanned and noticed his other relatives coming down the stairs to say hello.
Jayden did not park the car at the garage, he could not have asked. Every family under the Oscar was present in the house and were preparing themselves to meet him.
"Son, no matter what, be nice and smile." Amanda warned and Jayden wanted to frown but dropped a fake smile instead.
Andrew finally got the necessary information he needed from the security agency. He got the tape and watched the video as the young lady that popped into the car was seen walking into hospital. He came down from the cab and stood right in front of it, while examining the name to ensure he did not at a wrong direction.
Andrew walked in responsibly and took a seat, then his phone started to ring out and he felt embarrassed. Eyes flooded his direction since his action was not acceptable. Phone were to be put on vibration to avoid disturbance but he forgot. Before the call would come to an end, he hurried out and picked.
"Hello sir!" He answered and await his boss command.
"Why are you not back yet? Have you caught the bitch?" Andrew swallowed at his boss harsh too. He knew the bitch was been referred to the girl he was asked to track down. His mouth suddenly began to heavy him as if he had a cup of water in it and might spill if he talks.
"Soon sir! I... I am... Still on it!" He stammered and the call hung up, "The young man really intent to kill me."
He couldn't wait any longer, he walked up to the nurses stand and called for attention, "Hi, please i need a favor and I will give you some cash." The nurse that attend to him blushed as she admired him. Indeed, Andrew was handsome and also followed Jayden to the gym for training. Even with his clothes on, one could tell his muscline appearance.
"Hi handsome, you have a friend, here?" The nurse asked as she did not hear well to his words when he called her. His charming grey eyes, and his neat outfit was breathtaking. He was slim but he's features where still great, that the nurse couldn't help but admire him.
Andrew looked lost while scanning the environment for the girl that dared to damage his boss's favorite car. The nurse however noticed his absent mind and asked again, "How may i help you, sir?"
Coming back to reality, Andrew turned to face the nurse and smiled, "Oh yes my dear, I am looking for a friend of mine. She came in not up to an hour ago." He lied.
"What is the name of your friend?" The nurse couldn't wait to make friends with his friend. That would be her way to get to his heart.
"Here is a picture of her!" He turned his smartphone for the nurse. Her friends behind her giggle as they saw the smart phone. Of course, it was the lastest iPhone and who won't noticed it through the brightness. He was not an ordinary man, he was wealthy. Very wealthy to be precise, "Her name is Loverina..." He was yet to finish when the nurse interrupted.
The nurse attending to him, comported herself, "I know her! There she is!" The nurse pointed to a direction and Andrew turned to see a young girl looking so stranded and confused.
"Indeed!" Andrew said excitedly as he immediately, dropped some amount of money and left the nurses to follow the young girl. He knew it was now or never and if he missed this chance, he would have to kiss his job a good bye. When they got outside the hospital, Andrew texted someone and decided to distract the lady, "Excuse me! Excuse me please!" He called out but the lady was not turning, she seemed lost in thoughts. He then walked faster to catch up with her, "Excuse me!" He tapped her shoulder and she turned.
"Do i know you?" Loverina asked as she raised her right brow.
"No, you don't! I am sorry to bother you but, i need some assistance." Andrew lied and prayed in his mind for the bus to come quick.
"I am so sorry. I am in a haste right now and don't have the time to..." She was unable to finish when she Andrew knocked her out.
