Chapter 1
"I love him," Alycia cried, as she stood before her father in the dimly lit room of her personal chambers, "I love him and I trust him, father. Why can't you give him a chance?"
Alpha King Eskaál was the powerful and feared Alpha of the Supreme Pack. He couldn't believe his daughter, the Princess and heir to the throne could be so foolish as to give her position to her mate. A rogue wolf!
For weeks, he'd believed she was only unwell, but now it was spiralling out of control, and it was just unfortunate that his Pack was turning into an avenue of rogue wolves.
He huffed in disbelief, his brows creased in worry, "This is totally unacceptable and unreasonable of you, Alycia. I do not care what he is to you, but this needs to be retracted. Do you even hear yourself? I can not have the rogue King being the Alpha of my Pack. No way!"
He turned to his wife, the queen, his eyes wide and nose flaring, "Tomorrow, I would have this retracted. Talk some sense into your daughter!"
"Eskaál, please listen to her..." the queen tried to speak, but he turned sharply and made his way out of the room in quick determined steps.
Alycia's body shook with sobs, and she flopped down on the bed. Her mother, who was initially standing beside her, came closer and sat on the bed with her.
"Alycia darling, are you really sure about this?" She was worried. So worried. Her daughter never made a reckless decision. Ever.
But Alycia clutched at her mother's dress, her eyes pleading as she turned to her, "Mother, please. Talk to father. Please. This is important to me and I swear, I am in control of my actions. Ethan will make me queen in a few days. Please mother..."
Queen Emerald shook her head. Evident lines of worry etched on her forehead as she heaved sigh upon sighs. In every sense, Alycia was being insensible and irrational, but a deep part of her wanted to give her the benefit of doubt.
She shook her head, as she slowly stroked her daughter's wavy hair, "It's going to be fine, baby. Don't worry, I will see what I can do..."
She engulfed her in a hug almost immediately, " Oh, thank you so much mother. Thank you, mother..."
She was so grateful that she heaved a sigh of relief.
Queen Emerald stood and made her way out of the room after making sure that Alycia had stopped crying.
Few minutes later, a slight knock was heard on her door, causing Alycia's heart to skip a beat.
She knew who it was even before she quickly stood from her bed. The door opened slowly, and a huge figure emerged before her.
" Oh, Ethan..." Alycia didn't know when her legs moved on their own accord, running into her mate's strong arms.
Her hands tightened around his neck, breathing in his scent which seemed to calm her down a bit.
A low rumble escaped Ethan's throat, at their proximity. He ran his hand over her hips, holding her closer to him, as he also breathed her in.
"Where have you been?" Alycia cried softly, "I've been waiting for you."
"I'm sorry, my lady," Ethan slowly released her so he could stare at her, "I was attending to some matters. Everything is a mess getting ready for the coronation. I had no idea it was already getting dark. I had to come to you...I'm sorry I kept you waiting..."
The corners of Alycia's lips turned in a smile. She couldn't help but feel a flutter of emotions at his words. He was so sweet. So caring. If only her parents could see this side of him. If only they could see the man she had come to love and cherish.
Ever since she offered her position to him, as the King of the Supreme Pack, it was not a surprise to her when the pack members, including the children, and her sister, all warmed up to him, despite being the rogue king.
That was to be expected, as Ethan had a heart of gold. He wasn't what her parents portrayed him to be. So down to earth and extremely lovable.
Her parents thought she was being reckless. She knew that. But what they didn't know was that Ethan was far above their expectations.
Alycia felt a hand on her cheek, drawing her back to reality, "I do not like seeing you cry, Li. Please stop. I know your parents do not approve of me, but if this is causing strain to you, maybe we should just..." he shrugged.
Her teary eyes widened, as she stared into his blue orbs. He looked worried, his eyes soft as they held hers, "What? No. Ethan, I know how important this is for you. This is a chance for you to be seen as someone other than a rogue. I want to be your queen. I want this for you and I would fight for it, if need be."
Ethan's hands slipped to her waist, his touch light but a bit hesitant. As if he was holding something fragile. His eyes...so full of worry, searched hers.
"But is it worth it?" He whispered, his voice rough with emotion, "Is it really worth defying your father? I don't want your relationship with your parents to get more soiled than it already is..."
Alycia's chest tightened. She could feel the weight of his doubt on her. The love in his gaze...and also the unmistakable fear of losing her.
Without thinking, she cupped his face with trembled hands, forcing him to look into her eyes. To see the truth in them.
"You are worth everything." She reassured.
He made to speak, but her lips met his, cutting him off his words. Alycia snaked an arm over his neck, withdrew slightly, and spoke against his lips, " Let us forget about all this for now. I am just glad to see you after a long day. Please, I need you. Make love to me."
Desire swirled in her pupils, as she stared up at him--waiting, pulse quickened in anticipation.
Without warning, Ethan drew her to him, gasping as their bodies rubbed on each other. He found her lips, tugging and kissing feverishly as they fueled the mate bond.
It had been a long day indeed for him. And he needed this. She needed him.
His hands went to her hips as he raised her up so she straddled him. Steadily, they made their way forward, as Alycia's hands roamed over his chest.
He flopped her on the bed, and Alycia quickly made away with her nightwear. Spreading her legs apart as she waited for him to enter her.
Her fingers tangled into his hair, pulling him closer, while his hands roamed up her sides, tracing the curves he'd come to memorize.
Her body tingled with desire, wanting more of him. Craving more.
It wasn't the first time they made love or had sex, but this moment felt purely magical.
Ethan's hands found her cheeks, and he buried his nose at the crook of her neck, "Relax, Li...the whole palace can hear you."
His voice sent a delicious tingle down her spine, and her tightly shut eyes slowly snapped open while she willed her body to settle.
" Good. Now, relax for me, love." Ethan said, as he rubbed his hard length against her slicked pussy.
He met her lips again, at the same time he entered fully into her in one powerful thrust.
*****
The next morning, Alycia was roughly woken up by a bang on her door. Her brows furrowed as she turned on her bed, confused.
She was alone, and Ethan wasn't here. So who the hell was on the door?
She placed a hand on her aching head, just as the bang persisted.
"Hold on, I'm coming..." she wasn't able to complete her statement when the door was suddenly pus!ed open and the palace guards stepped in.
Alycia's eyes widened, as she immediately tried to cover her body, but thankfully she was dressed. But just on her night gown.
" How dare you? What are you doing in my chambers?!"
But she felt something was wrong somewhere.
Just then, quick resounding footsteps echoed, and Maya, Alycia's younger sister stepped in.
Alycia stared at her with worry, noticing her red puffy eyes. "Maya? What...what is the matter?" She asked.
But that wasn't Alycia's main concern at the moment. It was the way Maya was glaring at her with so much hate. She had never seen that look on her before.
And then Maya spoke, shoulders raised, her tone commanding and direct.
"Murderer! Take her away right now!"
Chapter 2
Alycia was dragged to the courtroom by the guards. Her heart was beating erratically in her rib cage as she wondered what was going on.
Murderer?
What the hell does her sister mean by that?
But Alycia was not prepared for what she saw in the throne room. Some of the Royal Pack Elders were standing there, with grim expressions on their faces.
Palace maids, servants were bawling their eyes out, as they knelt beside the throne.
That could only mean one thing. As far as Alycia could recall, the last time she witnessed a similar scenario was when her grand father passed away.
A feeling of dread immediately settled over her, and she felt a shiver run down her spine.
"No! No!...Mother, where is mother? Father..."
She began to writhe and move away from the guards as she tried to make her way towards her parents room, but they held her tight.
"Maya?"
Her mate's voice echoed in the throne room as he suddenly appeared from behind her. He was dressed in his Royal regalia.
The black royal regalia.
The exact royal regalia. For mourning.
Although, Alycia was apprehensive, she felt a wave of relief wash through her at the sight of her mate, "Oh, Ethan. What is..."
"What did you witness, Maya?" Ethan stared towards Maya, as though he hadn't heard Alycia speak.
Maya's eyes were red rimmed, "I...I saw her sneak into their chambers after lights out last night....and..." she hiccupped, holding her chest as though she couldn't breathe properly.
"And...when I went to serve them tea this morning, they...they were gone." She bursted into tears.
"What!? What are you talking about, Maya?" Alycia's voice trembled.
Her parents were dead? Why was she being accused of...
"You do recall this is your sister you are talking about, Maya," Ethan continued, "What reason do Alycia possibly have to murder her own parents? You only saw her go into the room. How are you sure she did anything to them? It doesn't make sense."
Maya raised her head and her hardened gaze met Alycia's. She tilted her head to the right and a maid who was on the floor, slowly stood up and walked towards them.
"Repeat what you told me, Lotus!" Maya ordered, wiping her cheeks.
The maid shifted on her foot , her gaze down. "The....the princess ordered me to.. to get some Prime leaves. She...ord.. ordered me to...to put them in the tea..I'm s sorry, Alpha..." she immediately fell on her knees, crying and shaking profusely, " I never wanted to. But she threatened to..hu..hurt my mother. She is the only one i have. Please, have mercy!"
She hit her head on the floor, bawling her eyes out as she cried for mercy.
A collective gasp echoed, as well as murmurs from the elders.
Ethan motioned to the guards and they stepped forward and they took the maid away.
Alycia mouth was wide open, unable to wrap her head around what was happening, "Ethan...what is this? What is going on? Don't tell me you believe this nonsense?"
"You have committed a grave crime punishable by the royal laws, Alycia..."
Alycia.
Her heart dropped. She couldn't recall the last time Ethan, called her by her full name.
"You killed your own parents. You have to face your punishment!"
His tone was different. So different it didn't sound like her mate's. Before Alycia knew what was going on, she was dragged and taken to the dungeon.
Few hours later, and Alycia felt like she was going crazy in there, as she has been chained and locked up for quite awhile.
Suddenly, she heard the cell doors opened and Maya stepped in.
She was dressed in a black dress. A guard brought a stool to her which she sat opposite Alycia, with a stoic expression.
Alycia stared at her, "Maya..."
"Have you whipped her yet?" She suddenly asked the guards, and they shook their heads.
Maya sprang up from the chair at once, fuming, "What are you waiting for then!? Teach this murderer a lesson she would never forget and make her regret being born!"
Before Alycia could grasp what was happening, the cages to her cell were opened and the guards stormed in.
She tugged at her chains, "Don't you lay your filthy hands on me!"
She stared toward her sister, " What have I ever done to you, Maya? Why do you have to lie against me?"
But the guards did not listen to her. The whip landed on her back, un relentlessly
Alycia was helpless and angry. The more she tugged at her chains, the more she hurt, as they had been laced with silver.
It was bizarre. She couldn't place a finger on her emotions. The guards were not being lenient at all. Every whip was like a part of her flesh was being taken out. The pain was out of this world.
Alycia's screws tore through the dungeon. She begged--she pleaded, but Maya simply watched, a cruel smile playing on her lips.
"Enough!" A deep voice echoed in the cell, and the guards immediately stopped whipping her. Alycia hunched over, her breathing coming out in harsh gasps, struggling to stay sane.
"Take her to the square. It's time for her punishment!"
Maya stood and left with him, while the guards unchained Alycia's weak battered and bloodied body and led her out.
An angry crowd met them the moment they stepped out. Pack members sat on the floor. Some stood with their hands on their head, some rolled on their ground, as they mourned the previous king and queen.
The moment their eyes settled on Alycia, they were filled with rage. They swore at her, threw things at her, as she was led to the guillotine.
This was happening way too fast. Alycia thought. Was it a dream? She could hardly lift her eyes, she felt so weak, and her night dress was stained with blood.
She had never been handled this way. Ever. And when she was suddenly pushed to the bare floor, and came face to face with the guillotine, she began to panic.
Some guards began to set it up, and Alycia weekly raised her head to stare up at her mate in a silent plea.
She met Maya's gaze instead. Standing beside Ethan, with a satisfying smirk on her face.
Alycia knew she was being framed. And by none other than her sister. She was more surprised that even her Mate, Ethan, believed every single word spoken against her.
She couldn't believe it. And now he was sentencing her to death? Even without hearing from her.
She had literally given him the power to do this. She was the one who granted her position to him!
Oh..
She shivered. Her father was never in support of their union. He had warned her against accepting the Rogue Alpha as her mate. And what had she done instead?
She had granted him her position as the next heir to the throne, and then crowned him as Alpha.
Oh, they would be rolling in their graves right now.
They didn't deserve this. But as much as she thought about it, it was all her fault.
Her eyes swept round the crowd. They were angry. So angry. Eager to see her take the brunt of her deeds.
And when she stared back at her mate, he had a pained look on his face.
"I wish this was a dream, Alycia," he began, his voice low but commanding enough for all to hear him. The crowd hushed, "It pains me to see you go this way. You told me your parents aren't fully in support of us, but I never knew you would go as far as killing them just so we can be together. Regardless, I still wish you had spoken to me before doing such. But I have to do right by your parents. We have to do right by them!"
" Yes!" The crowd cheered.
This was the same people that looked up to her. This was the same people who would have vouched for her anywhere, but rather they wanted her gone.
Tears streaked down Alycia's face as she saw how serious they all were. She tried to speak but she was so weak, and her back burned. She tried to reach out to the mate bond, pleading with Ethan.
It was her last option. She couldn't die this way. No way this was happening..
But the guillotine was finally ready. Her bloodied nightgown clung to her trembling body as she was dragged to the guillotine.
She raised her head weakly, her vision blurred as they searched for Ethan. Her mate.
He stood tall beside Maya, who was sobbing uncontrollably in his arms. His eyes were cold and.... unfamiliar.
When their gaze met, she whimpered.
Please...she tried to plead through the bond. Please, Ethan....
A flicker of emotion crossed his fac. But it wasn't regret. It was more like.... satisfaction?
And that was when her whole life literally flashed before her eyes.
Was this how she'd leave this earth? She wondered.
Everyone stared at Ethan, waiting for him to give the final command. And then, finally, Ethan raised a hand. The signal for the guards to proceed.
But the moment they were about to act, a deep chilling voice echoed through the crowd.
The grounds shook violently, and everyone turned their heads to the direction of the voice.
As soon as their gazes rested on the source of the commotion, a shiver ran down their spines.
The crowds whimpered in fear and children began to cry all over again.
Grown men and women were trembling, even Maya and Ethan were wide eyed and shocked as well.
**CHAPTER 3
The figure was enormous, boasting a well-defined muscular physique. The wind blew at his long hair, and his piercing blue eyes seemed to cut through the crowd, sending chills down everyone's spine.
"Isn't that..."
A sense of dread settled over the onlookers as they gazed at the imposing figure, their eyes wide with disbelief.
He stepped aside, and a perfect replica of himself appeared next to him.
"Oh, my goodness!" a middle-aged woman gasped. "What are the Lycan Twins doing here? Oh, dear goddess, have mercy!"
The twins began advancing, causing the crowd to part immediately to allow them passage.
Without breaking stride, they pushed forward until they reached the guillotine, only to find Alycia unconscious.
One of the twins quickly leaned down, lifting her into his arms.
*****
As dusk approached, the pack square lay deserted. In a guest room of the palace, Alycia was sprawled flat on the bed.
She suddenly sat up, memories of the earlier events flooding her mind as her eyes darted around the room. Then she blinked, feeling a sharp pain in her back, and she flexed her body, wondering how she had gotten in here. How had she managed to heal so fast? For werewolves, they do have high healing capabilities, but when silver is used on them, it takes a whole lot to time to heal.
The room was a bit dark and the blinds were all down. Realizing she was no longer in the square, amidst those angry crowds, she quickly stood.
As she turned towards the door, she shrieked. Her eyes settling on a figure in the dark room, sitting adjacent to her, watching her in silence.
Alycia scurried away, almost losing her footing in the process. She hasn't seen them when they walked through the crowd.
But the faint streaks of light reflection into the room was enough to get a glimpse of the intruder's face.
The Lycan Twins?
She shuddered and a shiver ran down her spine.
She felt her heart beating erratically in her rib cage, as she took a protective step backwards.
"What..." She cleared her throat, and squared her shoulders, "What are...you doing here?"
The Lycan Twins were rivals to their pack. And as Princess and former heir to the throne, her father had taught and made her understand every single thing in the pack. He had let her attend meetings and delegations.
The first and last time she had seen the Lycan twins was when she was a little girl, and had only caught a glimpse of them.
The one standing before her hadn't changed one bit. Still as young as ever.
One thing was certain. If the Lycan Twins were indeed here, then all was not well.
They are ruthless. Scary. They cause problem and chaos wherever they stepped foot.
There was a reason her father warned her to steer clear of them in whatever she does in the future.
The man stood abruptly, his piercing blue eyes pinning her in place. Aly is stumbled backwards, her instincts screaming at her to run.
She heard a click behind her, and the door opened. But as she turned, she bumped into a rock hard chest.
"Where are you off to, baby girl?" A different, yet chilling voice resonated in her. Piercing grey eyes stared back at her and she literally froze.
Those eyes....
"What do you want?" She shuddered, moving away from him, with icy eyes.
"We are here to offer you a deal."
Her brows shot up, " And you think I would blindly strike a deal with....you both?"
"You don't have a choice, sweetheart! You should be thankful to us for saving your life. You would be dead meat by now."
She blinked, but masked her expression.
" Save my life? I didn't recall asking you to save my life!"
The twin ran a hand over his long hair, as he chuckled and took a step forward.
"We want you. In exchange for your freedom. We have the power to set you free, baby girl. But only if you agree to our terms."
Alycia scoffed in disbelief. The twin had moved from the door and she followed his movements, watching, and then she dashed towards the door.
She had gotten to her door, and was about to twist the knob, when strong hands grabbed her by the waist, and she felt a warm breath on her neck, "Not so fast, Princess..."
She turned, her eyes widening, as she realized it was the other twin who had been watching her earlier.
Alycia felt her world stop as she stared up at him closely.
His eyes....oh goddess...
They were so blue. She hadn't seen such chiseled features and strong jawline.
Her eyes stared at his glossy pink lips. It was...perfect.
Unlike his brother, he had his jet black hair tied up in a ponytail, accentuating his chiseled features.
"Where are you headed, little mouse?" he whispered in her ears.
She felt another hand on her back and she jerked, undecided on who to face.
Turning slightly, her eyes met the other twin, staring down at her with a playful smirk on his lips.
It was suddenly so hot in the room. She felt heat all over her body.
He leaned in, and Alycia almost forgot how to breath.
"Be ours," he whispered, again, " In exchange for your freedom!
And then she recoiled, letting in a sharp breath as she moved away from them.
"I...I.."
Their voices were calm. So calm, but the look in their eyes were so cold, she was literally holding herself back from screaming her lungs out.
" Or we can easily send you back to the guillotine and watch the pack kill you for a crime you committed?"
"I didn't do it!" Alycia found herself yelling.
" Oh, we do not care, Princess." The other twin spoke, rolling his eyes.
Alycia huffed, amazed by the request they'd just made. They must be really delusional to think she would have anything to do with them.
She took a deep breath, and faced them squarely, mustering all confidence she had, "I'd rather die than to have anything to..."
She paused, feeling a shiver run down her spine as she recalled the moment she had actually almost died.
Her fingers clenched, nails digging into her palms, as she wondered what would have become of her if they hadn't arrived at the right time.
Alycia shook her head as her gaze rested on the twin before her. She stared at the other as well, suddenly realizing how powerful they were.
She needed to get to the bottom of this. Her parents were dead. And she was falsely accused and almost beheaded. She felt grateful for the twins saving her life.
And then she shut her eyes and took a deep breath. Slowly, she raised her chin up.
"Fine", she blurted, her eyes trailing from the first twin to the second.
The twins looked at each other and a smirk formed on their lips.
"Good! Now, let us deal with that mate of yours, shall we?
