(At Dark Mafia hideout)
"Damn you jerk!" Drew Samonte growled out of his mouth as he took his hand. A punch in the jaw of this shitty mayor Craig Alegre made his arm tingle.
Craig spewed gibberish from his cracked lips. "I-I-swear I'll pay. I have to. I'd love to but- please hold on," the mayor begged.
But damn him as Drew thought. He got bigger fish to fry than this little scammer politician.
He went over the man's shoulder and nodded to Arman, one of his butler. "Make sure he fully understands how much he owes. Take his ears off if necessary."
"Yes, sir." Arman nodded.
"What! Wait no!" Craig shouted as Arman walked over to the table where he kept a big blue drum.
Turning around, Drew looked at Teo, his right hand and head secretary. "Where are the other files?"
"Some have been collected, the last one I am waiting for your judgment."
"How about that jerk Ethan Garcia?"
"He categorically refused to cooperate with any of our collection attempts. He saw his position as unshakable. He would not answer us where he was or what happened to our money."
"Tsk, where was that jerk?"
"At their home."
A metallic sound resounded in the room, followed by a high-pitched scream. Drew turned to see Arman wiping the blood off the guy's t-shirt.
Arman grabbed the man's throat and only raised his voice slightly. "Stop the screaming, bastard. Boss doesn't like listening to bullshit."
Out the door and into the hall, Drew looked at Teo. "How's Liam Flores' ledger going?"
"Clean, all things considered."
"However, do you still have questions?" Drew asked him as he walked.
"I don't know. I just can't explain why."
"So pay attention to him."
Teo had an umbrella over Drew's head as they walked out of the abandoned casino. The shattered glass door slammed shut behind them, and he ushered him into the sleek black elegant shining car.
Feeling comfortable in the back seat, Drew reached for the documents left on the other seat. Ethan Garcia's name is neatly slapped on the label. He sighed lightly. He knows this guy will come back like a thorn in his foot.
Ethan Garcia wastes breathable air. This guy used his relationship with his brother Dean and another city boss to get a loan from them. 10 million in cash. 10 million and nothing returned. 10 million went down the drain.
He takes this as a favor to Dean. Help for his brother now dead and buried. Shit like this, is not for him. However, when he went up to the top of the mountain for retribution, he was blocked. He was told that the man who killed Dean and all the surrounding issues have been dealt with.
Damn it. He wants his pound of bacon. He shook his head and opened the file. Going down this line of thinking is useless now. He can chase it again if needed. He slowly flipped through the pages on Ethan.
It's funny how they can put a document on one person and he's reduced to around ten pages. He could see every single payment that jerk made on his mortgage and how many times he had overdrawn at the bank.
Drew looks at his statutory outstanding debt, he looks at the 10 million Ethan owes him personally now. Anger crept slowly through his veins.
Turning the pages, he saw Ethan's family life. Since he borrowed money, he has had one of his men keep a close eye on his family. He is engaged to Meri Wilson but still living with his parents and he has a younger sister, Hana Garcia.
As they drove in the rain late at night, he looked at pictures of Ethan for a long time. This man has the guts to offend him!
He took a quick look at photos of his family. His parents seem so happy and his sister looks so gentle.
His fingers stopped when the picture of Ethan's sister appeared. Light brown eyes, sexy red fuller lips, high cheekbones, flawless skin, and long brownish hair. All these parts alone would make her extraordinary. Even though her face is generally unremarkable, there is one feature of her that can be shocking. But together they created something otherworldly.
She is a beauty incarnate. Fingers traced her lip line and Drew frowned. How could that man have such a beautiful sister? He flipped through her photos further. Not a lot, but what he's seen tells him she's not like any other woman he has ever met.
She looks perfect for his standard. There's a fairly candid photo of her watering plants in their backyard. Her hair is all over the place. Her slender legs are wrapped in jogging pants and she is wearing sneakers. Her mother looked like she was giving her questions as she tried to look at her and still waters the plants.
Even this "family life" calls to Drew. Mixed in with some kind of mesmerizing shot, he could see how haunting those eyes were. They're calling him, pulling him in, and getting him lost forever. He can feel his hands curled around him. She was pulling him out of where he was sitting in the car.
"Take me to Ethan's, Jules," he said to his driver. Teo looked back at him from the front seat and said, "Now? Don't you want to wait until tomorrow?
"No. We are going there now. . The car made a few turns and they pulled off the highway and back on the road. His eyes drifted out of the window for a moment, watching the rain that had poured down all day.
Looking back at the photo, though, he saw something he had never seen before - a ray of light. Inside, he felt the embers of life burning.
His muscles tensed with anticipation. He needs to see this woman. He needs to see if what the picture shows is true.

Hana's brother, Ethan, was sleeping on the wide chair beside the pool, snoring so loudly, and she had the strongest urge to punch him. She wanted to scream at his pale face. She want to tell him to wake their parents up to eat after she prepared their breakfast. Not even dare to help her prepare their breakfast. She wants to ask why he came back after months of hiding from all his debt that bothers her and their parents.
But she just stand next to him, staring at the clear water of the pool. It's time to accept reality. Ethan is still her brother even if he is a jerk. The day he is back is a new start to many trouble he may cause.
She can't go on like this. This is no way to live, this is just existing.
And she is sick of all the troubles he brought.
After growing up dirt poor, they trust Ethan thinking they would finally have financial security. They would always have a roof over their head. They would never go hungry again.
Foolishly, he believed his lust for money would turn their family rich.
But this, he is lack of brain, lack of care, pulling them into the depth of debt. She rather starves than stay in this house for scammed money or eat the food his brother stole.
Ethan has been gone for days hiding from the people he owes money to. He's been finding more and more reasons to throw them in danger.
There's always some client on the other coast that needs his help and he'll scam him. Or some corporation that has to have his expertise or they're going to lose millions and Ethan take advantage of that, getting all their money from them.
It's funny, she still doesn't know exactly what his job title or true profession is even if he is her brother. Whenever she asks him about it he just brushes her off, doesn't have time to explain it, or says she wouldn't understand.
Like she's some kind of idiot.
If she was an idiot she wouldn't know about all the women he's been hooking up with even if he already has a fiance. She knows that's one of the reasons he's always leaving them. He has an illegal business in every city.
She sighed, looking up at the balcony where usually their parents taking their tea.
Suddenly her eyes feel swollen and her nose stings. She has to blink back her tears and take a deep breath. Rolling her eyes back up, she focuses on the water.
What will happen to their family specially their parents if karma knocks on their door for Ethan?
She knew it.
She no longer has to pretend this place is safe. keeping up appearances on Facebook. More making excuses for any invitation for she was also hiding from anyone Ethan aggrieved people.
She has to leave for her freedom.
No more trying to explain to her friends that she is sorry but she had to miss their Saturday night again.
a fresh start, a new beginning.
She's been doing everything on her own for years now. Losing Ethan won't make much of a difference.
But how about their parents? If she leaves them under Ethan's care?
Ethan suddenly grunts loudly and rolls over.
The air turns sour and she resists the urge to gag this jerk-
Gosh, he is such a pig.
Ethan open his eyes, "What the hell," he growled seeing her.
"Hello, amazing brother. I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
"You scared the hell out of me, Hana! What do you want?"
At first, the light was so harsh on her eyes that she had to blink a few times to see the handsome shining stranger standing in their garden near the pool.
It must be a dream, she convinces herself, and close her eyes. She opened them again and she still can't believe it. The person cannot be real.
The man stood in the center of the greenhouse, illuminated by a halo of light from the rays of sunlight. The light seemed to love him and cling to him. He was so radiant and so charming that he looked almost angelic.
"What the hell are you doing in my house? You can't just walk in!" Ethan panting. His fists grabbed the towel and tugged it away from Hana while pulling it onto his chest.
She gasped as the cool air blew against her chest, and the sound caught the attention of the angelic stranger. He turned his icy black eyes to her, and when their eyes met, she was completely stunned. Just looking at it, she felt grabbed by him. Trapped. Frozen. Helpless.
He is so handsome, it hurts her eyes to look at him. Brilliant! That beauty so intense, so profound, is like experiencing a piece of music that moves you while gazing at the moon.
Tears pricked in her eyes, her skin went numb, and her goosebumps came up. His face is made up of features so perfect that now that she has glimpsed them, she fears that all other men will forever be apart from him.
Well-defined cheeks, plump pink lips. A strong jaw and straight nose. The semi-curl dark hair was so dark and thick, that it was brushed back from his forehead.
It felt like an eternity had passed as they stared at each other across the pool, then his eyes parted and slid down, warming as they locked onto her pale breasts.
There was a blush in her chest. She's not naked, but in this little lace bikini, she feels like she is. She grabbed the towel and Ethan yelled as she pulled it back. He gave her an angry look, but she gave him the grimmest look, almost daring him to try to take it back.
Fuck him, no one cares about his chest. The stranger, well not so stranger, he is familiar, she already saw him not only once but blinded by his brilliance. The guy watched their little tug of war, his lips curved with a hint of fun.
Ethan finally gave up trying to steal the towel from Hana and decided to steal her coat above the chair. He put her coat over his chest, hugged it tightly, and summoned the courage to say, "If you leave now, Drew, I'll forget this happened."
Drew? Yeah, familiar? How strange and morbid. However, she swears she has heard this name in the news or newspapers before.
A smile flashed in the intruder's eyes, and the smile on the corner of his mouth disappeared. Three shadows flickered behind him, and Hana gasped when she realized they were three other people.
What exactly is going on? Who are these people and why are they in their house? She turned to Ethan and watched him writhing uneasily. What did Ethan do this time?
"Will you forget this ever happened huh?" Drew asked coldly, his eyes narrowed at the threat. "Like you forgot to pay me back the 10 million you owe me?"
Ethan's face changed instantly, his eyes flew from side to side, as if he was thinking of an escape plan. "I've paid it back. If you want your money, you have to talk to your brother Dean!"
"Dean is dead."
Hana watched Ethan's mouth open and close, then open again. He was panting like a fish out of water, his face starting to turn violet from the lack of oxygen.
She can't believe Ethan borrowed 10 million. So much money, what does he need? She knows she hasn't seen a penny.
"I paid Dean," Ethan finally came out, and hurriedly said, "I don't have 10 million to pay you!"
Drew took a step towards them at the pool. "Oh, you're dead then."
"Wait!" Ethan yelled in panic, his fingers ripping at the coat he held against his chest. "Maybe we can fix something? I can negotiate-"
Hana is looking between Drew and Ethan and now she's starting to panic. Drew only took five steps toward them, but the way he moved was clearly threatening.
What is he going to do? Will they hurt Ethan? Will they hurt her? Drew took another step and Ethan whimpered. He whimpered.
The sound creeps her out and she wonders if she can do something about it. She glanced at the phone on the small table. She doesn't think the moment they're looking at her, she's going to take it to make a call for help.
But it might be too late for Ethan by then- she could start screaming, but the only thing she could possibly do was run to their parents.
Ethan was pushing against the palm tree above him as if he believed he could escape through it if he tried hard enough. Then he gave Hana a pleading look.
As if she could help him. Ethan's eyes widened suddenly as if he had received a revelation. "You want my life in return for your 10 million?" he screamed.
Drew raised his eyebrows and tilted his head. "Maybe. Yes. These things are usually like this, aren't they?"
Ethan licked his lips nervously and looked at Hana, then at Drew. "Will you accept another life in return?"
Oh no.
He won't say what she thinks he is, will he? No, he won't. Not a decent guy. Hana thought.
Drew's upper lip curled up in disdain, but his voice sounded interested. "What are you proposing?"
Ethan was too cowardly to stop hugging his coat, so he nodded to Hana.
"Take her instead. Take my sister to my place!" Ethan muttered.
She was so shocked, so shocked, that she gasped, never-ending.
"You want me to kill your sister?" Drew asked as his brow almost meet.
Feeling all the warmth being sucked out of the pool.
"No, of course not-" Ethan flinched when he saw the murderous look on Drew's face. "Take her as a deposit, insurance, and I'll give you your 10 million. While she's under your wings you can do all you want to her."
Hana's eyes widened at the words of her brother. He is not serious, right? How can he do that to her?
"You mean, your sister as a ransom?" Drew clarified.
Ethan nodded up and down without hesitation. "Yes, yes, that's it. Ransom."
Hana's lungs were full of air, and she exhaled it all loudly, "How can you!" and rushed toward Ethan. "I'm not something you own. You couldn't sell me to a creepy, stranger just to keep your neck jerk. I'm your sister! Did you forget?"
Ethan screamed and crawled away from her. She ended up chasing him until he fell off the pool.
She grabbed the edge of the hat she was holding, gasping for breath, watching Ethan run backward until hit Drew's leg.
"Although I'd love to accept your offer," Drew said, pushing Ethan away with the tip of his toe. "I'm afraid your sister is not worth the 10 million you owe me."
Damn. She winked at Drew, feeling totally contradictory. On the one hand, she doesn't want to be given up, but on the other hand, hearing that she wasn't worth 10 million gave her a little low self-esteem.
She snorted and Ethan went to his hands and knees and knelt in front of Drew begging for mercy. "Please," Ethan pleaded, reaching out to grab Drew's leg.
If he didn't just try to take her in his place, she would pity him and try to help her poor brother. "I have to give you something else-" Ethan sobbed.
Drew made a look of disgust and looked down at Ethan as if he was a bug he wanted to step on.
"Whatever it is," Ethan cried as Drew kicked him. "anything you want."
She sat on her heels and watched her brother beg as he was kicked and wondered how it all happened.
Drew raised his head, his eyes locked on Hana. His features remained the same, completely calm, but deep within his icy black eyes, something dark stirred. "Anything huh?" Drew asked again.
"Yes, anything!" Ethan suddenly nodded enthusiastically.
"I'll take your offer," Drew grinned at her. "If you give her to me permanently."
"No, no! You can't!" Hana screamed, and she got off the pool area immediately to attack her jerk brother. Ethan screamed and ran back until he hid behind Drew's legs.
Drew between them, blocking her, her hands clench into fists, and she pant, trying to control the rush of rage that flooded her head. She swears if Ethan offers to this inhuman monster, she must strangle him with her bare hands.
Drew giggled at her with his head down, as if he thought it was all funny. She was freaked out by that fake smile, but suddenly felt a little uncomfortable standing so close to him. He was tall and had at least one foot on her and she felt very weak standing in front of him now.
"Huh? Do we have a deal, Ethan?"
Ethan continued to use Drew as a shield like a coward. He just stuck his head out to peek at Hana. "Yes!"
"No!" she screamed and rushed forward, bypassing Drew and grabbing her brother. Ethan screamed and stumbled back, just out of her reach.
Drew grabbed her arm, stopped her from sprinting forward, and pulled her back. Giggling, he pressed her arm against her side, and she screamed and struggled, trying to get out of his grasp.
"We're done, Ethan. Before I change my mind, I suggest you leave now," Drew ordered.
"Leave? Why do I have to leave? This is my house!" Ethan protested.
Hana tilted her head back and stared at Drew and continued to struggle. Damn, he's stronger than he looks, though it's hard to tell how fit he is in that suit.
Drew looked her in the eyes again, staring at her as if he could see her heart. "Let's see about that. If your sister can satisfy me then I leave your house to you."
"But," Ethan began to pant.
Drew's face stiffened, his features as cold and severe as a blizzard swirling in his iris. "Arman, take him away."
"No. Do not! I'll go! " Ethan said, panicking, and although Hana couldn't see what was going on due to the huge body blocking her view, she could hear loud footsteps happening behind. Ethan grunted loudly, then banged. "Hey! I'm going, I'm going now!"
She jerked in Drew's arms in surprise but then felt that all the fighting was gone. No matter how much she squirmed, no matter how hard she tried to get out of his grip, she couldn't get rid of him. If anything, she feels like all her struggles have only tightened his grip on her.
With her head lowered forward, she calmed her breath so she could listen to Ethan stomping his feet and continuing his tantrum about moving from his own home.
A minute later, Drew sighed, and Hana felt his hand loosen a little. "Jules, assist Arman. If Ethan wakes their parents, feel free to make him regret it."
She closed her eyes.
"Yes, boss," replied the second shadow, and she didn't even hear his voice as he walked out. All she knows is that he has left.
Drew loosened his grip on her. She run as fast as she could to escape, to hide in her bedroom.
***
Moments later, there were some muffled squabbles in the hallway, and then everything went quiet. Time passed minute by minute to hours. When she holds her breath, her gasping slows down. All of a sudden, she realized that she was with this familiar beautiful man. The air becomes thicker.
Slowly, she looked up and stared at him. He looked down at her so strongly that she gasped. Her gasp seemed to amuse him, and a smile slowly rose from his lips.
Hana looked at him in disbelief, her mind racing every minute trying to process what had just happened. She feels dry mouth and stomach cramps. She want to believe it was a nightmare and she was still in bed.
Her brother didn't just trade her away to save his life. He couldn't-he wouldn't-but the fingers on her arm tightened to remind her that he did.
She can't let this happen. She cannot accept this. She has to protect her parents and herself. He can't have them! She won't let him hurt them.
With every bit of courage in her, she lifted her chin and said, "You can't have us. We're not something you can own or trade as you want. I'm a person, a person with power, and I'm not going to support this!" she smirked.
Drew's eyes twinkled at her, he looks amused, so condescending she just wanted to spit in his face. Her anger only seemed to make him happier. With his head thrown back, he laughed and picked her up just as she started to struggle again.
He only took two steps and he threw her out. She flew through the air and landed on her bed with a grunt. He was not far behind her and she got up quickly, as he stepped back approaching.
Long, strong fingers going to the bottom of his suit jacket, he begins to unbutton it as he asks her, "Who's going to stop me now?" he whispered.
She regretted hiding in her bedroom now!
Damn!
