BLOOD AND MOONLIGHT

Emily POV

"Young lady you better make up or you will miss the train to school",this was Aunty May calling.Today I had slept in just like any other day.

"Be down in five",I answered as I tossed away the tempting quilt and walked into the bathroom.I took a quick cold shower and put on my floral dress and tied my black shiny hair into a pony tail.Gosh I was looking nice I guess.

"How many times do I have to call you down everyday.Emily dear you need to start being punctual and responsible right now you did not spread your own bed",Aunty Laura said.

"I will prepare it when am back okay.Love you",I said as I ran out to catch the train to Seattle from Tacoma ,Washington .

As far as i have remembered it has always been me and my two Aunties and the weird craving they always drew around the house.Little has been said about my mother and everytime I try to pry them open it seems like a forbidden topic for them.I know when they are ready we will have that conversation.

I was lucky I arrived in time and sat inside the train and plugged my earphones and started listening to Fifty Harmony In love with a monster.

After about an hour I had arrived.I was studying my undergraduate degree in health sciences at Seattle University.

I was almost late for my lecture that day because as soon as I took my seat the lecturer walked in.We had our lecture like everyday and today I had another extra cirruculum activity.

I had joined the school's volleyball team.We were going for practice this afternoon.It was time for lunch when we finished today's lecture and I went to the cafeteria.As I pushed the swinging doors to the cafeteria i was greated by the humming of conversations as well as clinking of silverware utensils.The smell of pizza and fries wafted through the air making my dtomch rumble with hunger.I joined the line ,scanning the options, macaroni and cheese,pizza,soggy vegetables and a sad looking salad bar. I then opted for a slice of pizza and a a glass of orange juice.As i waited to pay ,i gazed at the sea of familiar and unfamiliar faces scanning for an unoccupied place to sit.My life here has always been hectic,making friends has always been difficult.

Most of the people here were from prestigious schools and I only got enrolled because of a scholarship the university offered when I had the highest ranking marks in the state with four other individuals .

"Look what we have here,the street beggar.This is my spot so find a better place to scavenge",Latifa said as she came and sat on the table that I was sitting. She is the University bully along side some of the boys.Today I was feeling weird,I felt so much power surging in my veins and it seems like it wanted to burst out of me.

"Hey the queen is talking to you.Get up ",this was one of her minions saying this.I totally continued eating and decided to ignore them.

Most of the times when I saw them I would flee but today coupled with how I was feeling.I was not giving up my table without a fight.

Seeing that I was challenging the bully's everyone was now looking towards my table.Some who were short were now on their feet to catch a clear glimpse of what was going to happen to me.

"I sat here first ,so what gives you right to claim this as your spot when clearly their is no mark to show for it",I said coldly which continuing eating my meals.

"Bitch did you just talk to me",Latinas said and the while cafeteria made a booing sound.

"Latifa do you feel superior by bullying the weak to prove yourself a champion.You ain't fooling anyone,we know how you are always battered by your boyfriend worst your drug addict of your parents.You are pathetic young lady .If I were you I would try to fix myself before trying to bully other people.You may take the spot am done,seeing your unlabelled silhouette just messes with my appetite",I said standing up.When I said this the whole cafeteria bursted out into a crazy laughter.Some where pointing fingers at Latifa and her minions mocking them.

"Do you think you will walk freely after what you said bitch?Girls beat her up",Latifa ordered .

For a moment I was filled with fear.Handling all of these people whilst it was perfectly clear was on my own was too detrimental amd catastrophic.

The girls stopped me and held me down on my knees.

"This is for talking dhit about me little girl",Latida walked and gave me several slaps on my face.Just then I felt a switch turn on in my mind and I found my self saying , "You just made a big mistake young lady",I said.It felt like I was jolonger in control of my own body and it felt like I was watching a movie happen.

When I confronted Latifa I felt adrenaline course through my veins.This feeling was very familiar like the one I always feel when I have fear and anxiety.But this time around it was different.I could feel my senses heightened and my reflexes quickening, it was as if my body was responding to a deep instict one I never knew I possessed.

I took a step forward,and Latifa sneered but it did not make me waver.Instead I felt new energy build up inside me like a coiled spring waiting to be released.Then in a burst of speed and strength I tackled the girl one by one with ferocity which surprised even me.

The last person was Latifa she had crawled into a corner and I felt my nails elongated and I gave her a slap across her face scaring her face leaving three distinct claw marks.

In my subconscious I fight to gain control of my body and I did.

I saw everyone looking at me with fear in their eyes.What have I done.

"Go away you monster",a girl called from the crowd.

"Am not a monster ",I cried and then looked at my hands and saw the claws I had.I rushed to the public toilet and locked myself inside.

When I was inside the bracelet which I always wore for protection according to my Aunties broke and a golden light glowed in my eyes when it did.What was going on?

Just then I started to hear some words in my head like chantings.

"HELLO DESTINY CHILD WE MEET AGAIN BUT THIS TIME I WILL DESTROY YOU",I heard a voice say loudly in my head and started laughing hysterically. The chanting and humming continued and I felt my nose bleed.

"Get out of my head,get out of my head ,GET OUT OF MY HEAD",I said and the whole university experienced a slight tremor but the mirror infront of me burst into smaller pieces.

"INDEED YOU ARE POWERFUL BUT WE ARE COMING FOR YOU",just then I felt weak and a smoke silhouette crawed from the ceiling with crawls and it grazed my cheek thus when I knew I was in danger.

I flung open the main door and sprinted out in lighting speed out of the building,my heart racing wildly with every sprint I took.The creature kept pace with me it's presence making the end of my hair stand and the air heavy and thick.

As I ran ,my mind was a ocean of thoughts.I had to get back to my aunties. They would kn9w what to do and definitely have the answers to this creature.As i was running everything around me started to become blur and a golden light with some hint of grey engulfed me.I was lifted of the ground and swallowed in the vortex of colour and sound.

And then,i found myself standing in our living room ,surrounded by the marking and engraving made by my aunties which filled me with warmth and comfort.My aunties looked at me with their eyes wide open with confusion and concern.

What has just happened?My mind wondered with many unanswered questions.

MAY POV

"Laura am having bad dreams again.This time it's different",I said as I looked at my sister with worry written on my face.

"Tell me about it",Laura questioned.

"I saw her again.This time she is more powerful than the time we fought her years ago.Her only task is to kill Emily.Dear am worried ,how are we going to protect her",I raised my worries to her.

"I think we just need to tell her who she is.These carving and that bracelet cannot protect her for much longer.Its time we tell her who she is and what she is meant to be.Now is the time she learns about her abilities",she seriously said.

"She is only twenty and remember we promised Hailey that we will make Emily live a normal life away from that prophecy",I stated.Laura nodded her mind overcrowded with memories.

"Look here May,who knows how many armies Maledicta is creating.Remember Emily is the prophesied Destiny child who will bring the Mystical creatures world together and end her tyranny .Don't you want to reconnect with our brothers and sisters beyond the wall?",she asked me.

"Yes.....",before we could finish our conversation the house started to experience an tremor.

The carving in the house started glowing with a golden light.These were our spells which kept evil powers and entities out of our house.Just then a vortex of gold colour and sound formed in the living room and in an nick of time Emily appeared in front of us with confusion written on her face .This shocked me that I dropped my knitting kit and looked at Laura who had the same shock as me.

"Aunties I believe you have some explanation to do here",Emily said towards us and her tone was filled with disappointment and a hint of anger.

Before we could open our mouths to speak we heard the house experiencing the very same tremor like before but now the carving had a very dark glow.She had found us after 20 years of hiding.

Just then the barrier was broken and a black creature came inside.I saw Laura signal me and we simultaneously blasted the creature with our magic and it instantly turned into dust.

"Yes ,now you better start explaining thi gs or I might go crazy.What was that thing and what just happened here?You know what forget it let me tell you I was at school and I stood up to a bully and fought a lot of people on my own.Ot was like I was following my instict ,then I saw my hands develop into claws .When I went into the bathroom that creature showed up and a voice said something about Destiny .Am losing my mind already please explain",Emily said and she threw herself on the couch staring daggers at us.

Laura starred me with a knowing look.This was her cue for us to tell her what she needed to know.

"Emily you have to forgive us for taking this long to tell you everything regarding you amd who you are",Laura said softly.

"Aunty I understand that everything you did was to protect me but you could have at least told me half of it",Emily said with tears evident on her face.

"Child listen before your mother passed away she made us promise to help you grow away from the prophecy that surrounded your birth",I said as I cupped her face in my hands and wiped away the tears that were starting to fall.

"Now am hearing a new side what prophecy",Emily questioned.

"Give me your hands Emily",I said as I took her hands in my palm and started chanting voices.

Emily Pov

"Give me your hand Emily",Aunty May said her voice barely above a whisper.I hesitated at first ,but the reassuring gaze from Aunty Laura made me put my palms inside her outreaches hands.The moment our skins touched the house started to experience a tremor and it started to turn into a blur and fade away.Aunty May's eyes were locked into mine and I was drown into a vision.

I found myself in a strange place .The river was flowing but it was red with blood and everywhere were bodies scattered on the ground.

"What happened here?",I asked Aunty May and Laura who were standing besides me.

"War my dear ,keep walking",Aunty May said and soon I was in a tower.Infront of me was a huge book with yellow pages which showed how old it has been.It was placed on the centre of the tower which was lighted by the moon.

"What is this?",I questioned them.

"This book is the history of our people Emily.It tells of how the Elder Gods crested the first supernatural beings as well as this supernatural world",Aunty May smiled and then answered softly with her echo ringing in the tower.

I opened the book looking at the intricate illustrations as well as strange symbols aborting what every page said.

"I see pictures about fairies,werewolves,vampires and dragons what about humans",I curiously asked.

" They were created by another diety .We are a folklore to their world though we live in the same world.",Aunty Laura chimed in the conversation.

I immersed myself in reading every page but soon I had reached the end of the book.

"That's it .What history was that it was just a few pages",I retorted with anger.

"Look closely. The book will show you what you want to see",Aunty May said.I looked and more symbols and drawing started to appear in a blue light.I started to read the new information.

"What is the war of the moon and who the hell is Lord Arctus the cursed vampire",I asked after reaching some point which were hard to understand.

"The evil King of the vampires who wished to control everything in this world",Aunty Laura said with anger on her face.

So where do I come in here.What about the prophesy",I asked.

"After Lord Arctus was killed a new group of rogue witches gained control of the dark magic this is Maledista our elder sister.She grouped with some rogue witches and they have been creating havoc ever since.A wizard by the name Merlin fought against them and the lands they had conquered were divided by a great wall.This wall separated the rest of us from our families and some of our kinds.After the Great Divide ,we were forced to flee into the Shadowlands where the soil is rocky and air thick with the stench of blood from the War of the Moon as well as dark magic.The lands there seems to work against us and the crops there wither.So on his death bed the wizard spoke of a being the Destiny child who will put an end to the reign of dark magic and unite every specie created by the Elder Gods.Who happens to be you.The time you were born as well as place showed us you were the destiny child.We don't know what you are capable of doing but we have always known you have great potential.So the wizard left the book of spells hidden on the cursed mountain and for you to retrieve it you need to have mastered your elements and all the power you hold because you will encounter several trials which will need them",she continued to narrate.

"I can't do it am only 20 years old.",I said and as soon as i finished my statement the book randomly flipped itself and rested on the last page and i saw my picture on the last page of the book.I was there what did that mean?

"What is going on now?",I said asking noone in particular as my Aunties seemed puzzled by this event and just then I was pulled from the vision.

As the vision ended I was pulled back to reality.I took time and blinked constantly as I tried to adjust myself to the familiar living room.Aunty Laura's eyes were locked onto mine with concern "Emily are you oka",she said.

"Am fine Aunty",I reassured her and she added ,"I think the book is telling you that it's your destiny child.Thus wjy you were born in this world to deliver us from the clutches of evil and unite us whole again", she said.

"Thus why we did not want to tell you .We wanted you to he a little grown but the other party is not considering this they want you dead.So you better accept who you are and figh for the million who are waiting for you",Aunty May said and i felt a shiver ran down my spine."Are now all your questions answered?",she asked but i was in deep thought analysing the last picture i saw.I was standing with many creatures bowing before me with happy expressions on their faves.I guess i had to stop being selfish and fight for them like my Aunties are saying.

"Em",Aunty Laura said drawing my attention back.

"I said are all of your questions answered",Aunty May asked.

"Yes",i answered and i felt the place turn into a blur and the trance ended.

"So what is the way forward Aunty ",I said.

"Listen kiddo,I know this is a lot to take in right now but you are the person who we have been waiting for and many people are counting on you",Aunty Laura said.

Just then the window to our house was broken with tear gases.

"Get down",aunty may said.

Hailey pov

"Get down",Aunt May said.

We got down and covered our eyes to stop the poisonous substance from entering our eyes.

"Police !Open up",a muscular commanding voice said outside our door and they were knocking on our door violently.For a moment the air seemed still and heavy .What is happening?What does the police want from us this time with all this brutality?I asked these unanswered questions in my head.

"Try to go down the basement everyone",Aunt May said.We crawled on our hinds and made our way to the steps but soon there was a violent sound as the door was kicked down by the men outside.

"Move faster",Aunt Laura said as she felt me slow down a little.

Inside the basement the smoke from the tear has was little and it had a compartment which we had built as a panic room.We walked into the panic room and closed the heavy door to the compartment.

As the door closed I heard hurried footsteps amd the door closed.

"Now what",I asked with alarm in my tone.

"We need to get out of here ",Aunty May said with urgency.

"They went inside that compartment. Break it down",the voices said showing that they had reached the basement.

"What do we do no",I said trembling with fear and anxiety my voice barely above a whisper.

"Yes we do need to get out of here fast.May help me with the candles I remember putting them in here",Aunt Laura said as she started looking for salt.

She took the salt and drew a circle with salt .Aunty May found the candle and lit it in the middle of the circle.

"Stand in the middle mija",Aunty Laura said to me which I did.

"Me transiero ,hic et nunc, ubi voluntas mea(I transfer myself,here and now,where my will is)",Aunty May started chanting and soon the candle which was in the middle suddenly turn off.

The moment I opened my eyes we were now standing in a meadow.We were nolonger standing in our panic room.

"Wow ,how did you just do that .Teach me pretty please",I enthusiastically said.

" Your abilities are remarkable ,kiddo.With proper training you will he able to do this and even more ",Aunty May said with a serious expression.

"Okay.But now we are in the middle of nowhere ,how are we going to go home.Talking about going back what does the police and that force want with us",I raised my questions.

"I think this happened for a purpose the goddess is showing us a sign that we have to start the mission amd your destiny now kiddo",Aunty May said.

I sat down feeling the cool air move swiftly gently swaying the grass as it moved.Just then the ground started to open up and three creatures crept out of the grass.This interms of built were different from the first one we had encountered back home.

"That is our cue.I hope you had eaten kiddo because we are going to run for our lives.",Aunty Laura said as she rushed near the forest nearby.

"Aunty wait for me too",I called as I ran following her.

After running a short distance we all were breathing heavily .I was already worn out,I was never the athletic type of girl.I always skipped gym class.

"Wait I need to catch my breath please wait",I said as I stood near a tree trunk.

"Mika what are you doing these creatures will catch up with us soon if you keep being this lazy",Aunty Laura reprimanded.

"Hey you are witches.Cant you just cast a spell something to teleport us or at least make us fly",I said whilst taking in large amount of oxygen.

"Silly me ,Why didn't I think of that earlier",Aunty May said.

"Think about what",I said looking at her.

"Everyone find a strong wooden stick ",she commanded and we did .I just found one and she continued ," Now hold the stick with your dominating hand arms extended upwards",she said.

"Now repeat after me,aeuris ,audi me,lignum volataire,meccum ferre(air,hear me,wood ,fly,carry me)",she commanded.

We started chanting the spells following her lead and the monsters were drawing close to us.

"Goosh faster Emily",she called out to me and I started chanting faster than my first pace.

The creatures had there claws open about to grasp my face in their large palms when I felt a gust of wind on my face. When I opened my eyes I was marvelled by what I saw.I was flying on the broom.I looked at my aunties and it seemed like they are used to this and it seemed my expression was giving them something to smile about.

"As I settled onto the broomstick, Aunty May's hands guided mine, helping me find the perfect grip. The wooden handle felt worn and smooth beneath my fingers, like a trusted friend. With a burst of excitement, Aunty Laura shouted, 'Aerius, audi me, lignum volitaire, meccum ferre!' The air around us began to vibrate, and the broomstick shuddered to life beneath me.

"We lifted off the ground, and the wind rushed past me, whipping my hair into a frenzy. The trees blurred together as we soared above the treetops, the moon casting an silver glow over the landscape. I felt a rush of exhilaration, my heart pounding in my chest. The wind buffeted me, but I felt secure, my aunties flying alongside me like guardian angels.

"As we flew, the world unfolded beneath us like a map. I spotted a glint of water in the distance – a lake, perhaps, or a river. The trees grew denser, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground. I felt a shiver run down my spine, but my aunties flew steadily on, their broomsticks responding to their every command."

"I guess you wont be needing to call the cab anytime soon kiddo",Aunty Laura chuckled.

"Very funny .Aunty .You know what am starting to get the hang of this.Wait a moment I saw that river in the vision where are we?",I asked when I noticed the surrounding starting to get familiar ,and it hit me that I had seen this place in the vision we had had.

As we flew over the treetops, Aunty May pointed out different landmarks and explained the supernatural creatures that inhabited them. "You see that cluster of trees over there? That's a faerie ring. The faeries are mischievous creatures, but they're generally harmless. However, you should never eat their food or drink their wine, or you'll be bound to their realm forever."

Aunty Laura added, "And those rocks over there? Those are the homes of the goblins. They're nasty creatures, always looking for trouble. But they're also fiercely loyal to their kin, so if you ever encounter one, be sure to show respect."

As we flew further, Emily asked, "What about the vampires? I've heard they're the most powerful supernatural creatures of all."

Aunty May's expression turned serious. "Yes, the vampires are indeed powerful. But they're also ruthless and cunning. They're divided into different covens, each with their own rules and hierarchies. And they're always looking for ways to increase their power and influence."

"Glad you noticed .We are now closing in the supernatural community.Here your insticts and abilities may start to manifest soon but we need to be low because danger is lurking in every corner.Most of the species to be aware of are vampires.They think we witches want to kill them so we have our own hostility",Aunty May said flying besides me.Her eyes were narrowed when she was saying all of this which quickly made me focus as she always does this when she wants to grap my concentration.

"Understood",I said and a gust of wind came from nowhere and we all fell of balance and fell to the ground.

I felt a new smell and I guess my insitct was growing ever since I stepped this place.In the darkness I saw two red eyes shooting daggers at us.

"W.I.T.C.H.E.S",came a husky cold voice from the shadows and it mad eme tremble a little.

"L.U.C.I.E.N",both my aunties said in unison with terror written on there faces.
