Jihyo's POV

I was sleeping in my room when I heard my mom calling me from downstairs. I decided to ignore because I didn't want to get up. Argh!!

"Eden! You're gonna be late for school"I could hear my mom say in that black American accent of hers. I mumbled in frustration of having to get up.

"I'm coming!"

I lazily get up and have a nice bath and put on my school uniform which consisted of a red tartan skirt and a matching red blazer with a white short-sleeved shirt with matching white sneakers and a pair of long black socks.

I slowly made my way downstairs and then greeted my mom and dad. I usually greet my mom in English though she can speak Korean.

"Good morning Mom"

"Good morning,dear. You've been ignoring your alarms again, haven't you?Mom said with raised brows.

I smiled awkwardly,"I didn't hear it". I said lying.

I bet she didn't buy it at all.

I sat down on my seat at the dining table as mom serves breakfast,I start to dig in. Before I can even finish my meal,I hear the school bus honk. I grab my bag and my brother by the arm and say my farewells before zooming off.

"Another school session has begun" I said to myself as the bus comes to a halt and I hear my name which snaps me right out of my trance,"Jihyo!". I could easily make out who it was and it was no other than my smiley best friend,Eunju. "Oh My Gosh,Jihyo!Did you get bangs? You look so adorable!",she says sitting besides me and squeezing my cheeks.

"This is so you",I said mumbling to myself,"Your bunches look even cuter this session rather suspicious if you ask me" I said intentionally provoking her.

She blushes and quickly retorts,

"Nothing..... nothing of that sort. Where did you get that idea from?"

"Yes, let's pretend like there's nothing going on"

"Jihyo!!!" She shouted with her face red from blushing. The bus finally stops as we get down and head towards our classes. Fortunately,I and Eunju were placed in the same class which was for the brightest students in our year.

As usual we sat near each other with my seat in front of hers,when Mina and her gang of ne'er-do-wells came in.

"Hey!!Bunches,get over here!" Mina said referring to Eunju. I've always heard about Mina and her minions but it was my first actual encounter with her.

"Did I do anything wrong?"She responds shakily.

"Is your hair blocking your hearing?!Mina said to come over so what are you waiting for?!!"One of her minions said in a high pitched voice. Squeezing my pencil tightly in annoyance,

"I'd advice you to leave her alone"

"What?!" One said which from the looks of it was the chief minion who's name was Moyeon,"I don't remember talking to you, Glasses!" Mina cuts in.

"Very correct but it's my friend you're talking to right there!" I said standing up and looking her straight in the eye when everyone starts to whisper. Suddenly,a hand appears on I and Mina's shoulders,

"Wow! What's with all the tension on our first day of school in a while?" A handsome fair skinned tall boy with mono- lid and an attractive smile appears trying to stop the matter from excavating further.

"Why are you so hot headed,Mina?" He asks her rhetorically to annoy her. She pushes his hand away from her shoulder in clear disgust.

"None of your business,Smiler. I guess, you've finally met your match in this class", She says eyeing Eunju.

"Mina,stop this nonsense. Aren't you tired of the drama already?" A quiet masculine voice says. He was not as pale as the other boy which seemed to be his friend neither was he as attractive but he was undoubtedly still handsome and he had a mesmerizing aura around him,no wonder Mina seemed to like him.

"Oppa,I was just trying to put them in their place. You don't have to be mad at me!"She says feigning an adorable voice."Smartie over here seemed to have gotten the same hair style as mine and I was just surprised that even Smartie wants to look pretty" She said in an accusatory manner.

"So what does that have to do with you?"He says as he's now standing in our midst,"Just mind your business,Mina and stop causing trouble".

"But Oppa!!!"She angrily walks away with her minions running after her.

"Don't mind her, she's just spoilt and all mouth. Just try to avoid her if you can",the alluring boy said to me. I blushed but that was short lived as the pale boy with grey hair introduced himself to I and Eunju who seemed to take a liking in him.

"Hi, I'm Yu Sijin",he says bringing out his hand for a hand shake with the both of us when another boy appeared from the corner and was talking to the alluring boy.

"Ahhh, you probably are wondering who they are. The one who defended you is my best friend,Park Taesu. He doesn't like talking but he's really kind-hearted and mature, that's why he's usually made the class rep while the other one who just came is Ji Jungyeom, he's our very close friend"

He says smiling as usual. Jungyeom was the least handsome of the three was what I was thinking till my thoughts got caught off.

"What is your name?" I heard Taesu ask in a rather awkward manner with a smile that seemed sincere but rather unnatural.

"Huh?"I said turning red and hoping that no one would notice,"My name's Seo Jihyo and she's Park Eunju,my best friend",I said pointing at Eunju and trying to keep my cool. This was the first time a guy got my attention so it was breathtaking for me.

"I guess, we'll be seeing a lot of each other since we're in the same class",he said nearly blushing. He quickly goes to his seat which is not too far from mine.

"So your name is Eunju?It suits you quite well,if you ask me",he said making Eunju blush,"The rumors are really true,you are not purely Korean aren't you?",he says after examining me carefully.

"Don't be bothered by him at all,he gets like this every now and then. Please understand", Jungyeom says trying to be considerate of me.

Smiling,"No problem at all,I actually get that quite a lot. My dad's Korean but my mom's a black American. That's the reason for my eye size".

"That's seriously shocking" He says in some sort of shock and awe,"Which makes me all the more curious but I won't pry. Feel free to hang out with us anytime you want"

"Sure!"

Sheepishly,"I'd love to know you guys better especially Eunju",She blushes at the mention of her name as he turns to go to his seat with Jungyeom. Soon after the home room teacher walks in.

"Weeks, months and even years could be like a day if you spend them with the right person"

Years have flown by, Jihyo and Eunju are now in their final years of high school. Not to mention that it is a year that love blossoms most among students.

"What's up with you today?"

Eunju looks at Jihyo with a serious face,then blushes,"I think he likes me!".

"Who exactly are you talking about?"

"Who else but Sijin?"She responds rolling her eyeballs

"Lucky you,it seems like everyone is finding their one true love." Sighed Jihyo

"How's it going between you and Taesu?"

"I'm not exactly certain"She answers with a tone of disappointment.

"Well,I think he has a thing or two for you"

"You think?"

"Yes,I just feel that he's a bit shy" , Eunju says smiling,"You can make the first move if you can't wait for him".

"No way, I'm I doing that!"Jihyo responds firmly,"I don't want to seem desperate".

"You do have a point",she says in a sigh.

"Here! I was asked to pass a note to you" said a cute girl in short black hair and really short skirt. She was one of those classmates you knew but never talked to.

"Thanks alot,Mijun",Jihyo said accepting the piece of neatly folded paper. It was a very common thing for notes to be passed around,it was mostly used when one wants to confess his feelings for a girl and can't muster enough courage to,so the note will be given to a girl he trusts to pass it to the one he admires and vice versa.

"Not a problem, Jihyo",she says in her bubbly manner as she hopped away.

I opened the note hesitantly wondering if it was another annoying boy but to my surprise it was Taesu's handwriting. As soon as I saw it was his handwriting,I felt my cheeks heat up.

"Jihyo, let's meet closing time at the roof top. I have something important to tell you"

I felt so happy and excited but also a bit anxious if I was getting the wrong message. Maybe he didn't mean to confess to me. I sighed in frustration.

"Hey!"Eunju says trying to get my attention,"What's with the change of mood? You seemed to happy a moment ago and now you seem displeased"

"It's Taesu" I said sighing

"Can tell" She said stating the obvious,"But isn't that a good thing? Shouldn't you be happy?"

"I'm excited but I'm also nervous. What if he doesn't want to confess to me?"

"Easy there,Tiger!Breathe in and out!" She says demonstrating,"Let's just keep an open mind and hope for the best,okay?"

Forcing myself to smile,"Okay".

The closing bell rings and students happily rush out of class.

Standing in front of my desk,"Do you want me to accompany you there?"

"If that's okay by you of course"

"I'd be more than happy to help you",She says grinning genuinely making me to smile too,"Come on, let's hurry up and go. We don't want to be late",She said obviously full of excitement.

"Eunju!" We both turn towards the direction of the voice calling her,"Can we talk?"Sijin says moving closer and smiling sheepishly

"I would love to but I wanted to help J-"

"Go ahead,I can manage on my on" O said cutting her off and picking my backpack.

Concerned,"Are you sure you won't need my help?" she asked.

Already leaving,"No, just go ahead with him." I said as I left the class, popping my head back in I tell her,"Don't wait up for me!", I said finally leaving.

I nervously climbed up the stairs to the roof top,I could already see Taesu's figure holding on to the rail as I got to the roof top. I approached him with my heart pounding harder and harder,

Turning,"You're here?",He says with a smile as he asks rhetorically.

Somewhat shaking,"Yes. I got your note"

"You're the only one that makes me nervous like this",I heard him say as he kept on looking forward to nowhere in particular.

"So what did you want to tell me?", I said wanting to know eagerly.

"I applied for the same Uni as you,so as Sijin and Jungyeom"

"Ohhh", I said with a hint of disappointment in my voice.

He laughs,"Do really think that's why I called you here? To seriously tell you that?", I sighed in relief as he said that

"Well........ I've been meaning to tell you about it since but I wasn't sure if how you would react", he said with a serious look on his face,"So how do I put it?"He says scratching his neck nervously and facing me

"Jihyo......... The thing is...... I like you and I you to go out with me if that's okay by you of course",He said with his cheeks reddened and avoiding his eyes from meeting mine.

I could feel my stomach tighten in a good way of course,I was happy but I was also too overwhelmed with excitement to respond.

"I....... I....." I said stuttering trying to respond to his confession. He seemed to monitor my expression and soon his face looked distraught,

"It's okay if you don't feel the same way. I really don't want to force myself on you",he responds in obvious disappointment.

"No!"I retorted,"That's not the case at all. I..... I..was just trying to find my words. I also feel the same about you",I said looking away shyly. I suddenly felt his hands cup my cheeks. With his head tilted,he leans in and I close my eyes to fully experience this moment I've been waiting for. His lips crashing into mine like it was just the both of us in this world and time didn't matter at all. After what seemed like blissful hours of absorbing his taste,he pulled back reluctantly and avoiding my eye contact once more said,

"We better be going home now,we don't want to be home late,do we?" He pauses and then continues,"I could walk you home if you don't mind,that is." He said smiling sheepishly.

Smiling,I said,"Lead the way!"

Time flies more quickly than we think,and during the passage of time things tend to get weaker or stronger or sometimes realization is achieved. There are some things that we come to know with time that we wish we never found out but alas.....time and reality works for no one and doesn't need the consent of anyone.

MINA POV

"I bet mom's gonna be surprised to see me" I said as I walked through the airport rolling my travelling bag majestically. Since I was gonna give my parents quite the shock, I decided to get a airport cab. I headed straight for home.

***Minutes later

A maid in the garden spots me and hurries towards me not bothering to hide her surprise,

"Young miss, you came back early. Was there any problem?"

"It's my house,I can come back anytime I want. Who do you think you are asking me such an audacious question,do you want to lose your job?"

The maid quickly bowed her head in fear,she definitely needed a wake-up call,"No ma,I should have known my place better. It won't repeat itself again,please forgive me"

"Whatever! Instead of standing there running your mouth and pledging your insincerity to me,carry my bag in for me"

"Yes ma",she says carefully taking the bag by the handle as she follows me cautiously.

Turning around and looking at the maid, I slightly dropped my shades below my eye level and she looked frozen,

"There's one thing you got right at least, you really should have known your place better. I wouldn't even associate with someone like you if you weren't our maid so consider my talking to you a privilege,get it!"

"Yes ma'am"She replied in a low voice without daring to look me in the eyes.

"Good!"I said as I walked into the house and saw mom sitting in the living room sipping,I suppose Ginger tea.

I shouted out to her then ran to hug her on the couch,she was startled by my presence,

"What are you doing here,Mina?"She said in a stunned voice.

"Come on mom, you saying that makes me think you don't want me around" I said in the most adorable way I could.

"Nonsense!Of course I miss you but I'm still surprised. Besides, your dad won't be so happy when he gets back"

"But mom!"I said whining,

"I really missed you guys and besides, I'm already done schooling"I said in frustration

"I know honey but your dad wants you to stay there and gain experience in the US before coming back"

"That's why you are here,help me convince dad not to send me back, pretty please!"I said giving her the cutest eyes

Sighing,she replied,

"I'll try"

Her words gave me so much comfort,I hugged so tight in appreciation. My dad was too strict but my mom,she literally adored me,I could get anything I want as long as it's within her power. I loved her the most in the world,"Thank you mom! You're the best"

Proudly,"Who else could be better?" We both laughed and she told one of our other maid to cook up something for me, then she engaged me in a mother-to-daughter talk.

"Did you find any man there to your liking?"

"Mom!! I've told you that I don't have anyone"

"Why not?There are many good guys out there"

"You know that I like someone else and I've only liked him"

"Well,you better get over him because he doesn't love you and he's in a relationship already,so give up"Mom said without looking at me

"Mom,how can you say that to me?" I said pained to my bones,

"I have loved Taesu unconditionally for years,I deserve him. He is mine and only mine"

"Taesu is currently serving but will soon be through,he plans on getting married to that bumpkin from your class", She says sighing,

"Anyway,they are a perfect combination poor and poor should obviously get married,he isn't in your league,so he doesn't deserve you"

"I don't care what you say,Taesu can only marry me and no one else. And I know he loves me,Jihyo just has her claws around him and I'll free him from her. And mom don't ever call him poor or look down on him"I said as I stormed upstairs to my room,as I fell on the bed and started crying. Why would mom think that Taesu didn't love me?I was sure he did,and I knew that all I had to do was to remove Jihyo out of the picture

Jihyo's POV

Six years sure feels like a few months now that I think back but the past 22 months have been like six years,the irony. I have been waiting everyday for Taesu to return home from service,I write to him as often as I can and that is pretty much often,if you ask me. Unlike me,Eunju seems to be taking it rather well as she waits for Sijin to return. I really wonder how she does that keeping her smiles on even though I know she desperately misses him. But regardless of that,I still try to be happy, it's not like their gone forever,in fact,they are coming home this month which is probably why I'm all giddy. And my job has been my greatest distraction from my dad days because I'm actually doing what I want . I'm an artist just like my mom, though I diversified my skills a little bit. I actually work in a huge fashion company as a designer.

Jinu wakes me up from my daydream with his annoying voice,

"Argh!You don't have to shout my name when you are already by my door!" I said in frustration,I really was enjoying reminiscing,what a killjoy.

"Well,if you were downstairs,I wouldn't need to be by your door in the first place!", slightly raising his voice to tell me 'I'm frustrated too!', typical teenagers.

"What's this about?"

"You have a visitor and I seem to be looked at by you guys as Mercury" I could already imagine the look he had saying that, having a cute little brat as your baby brother can be fun but annoying,did I say annoying?...... I meant freakin' annoying.

"I'll be there in a giffy", I said still wanting to lie down for a while longer. Gosh!It was freaking Saturday,lazy ones for that matter. My guess was that Eunju had come to drag me out of my comfort zone to chill outside,I had to admit I had great friends and I loved them. I headed downstairs with my baggy trousers and sleeveless dress not to forget my glasses.

"Eunju, you really don't give up do you?"I said as I approached the living room but at that moment,my phone dropped to the ground as I realized that it wasn't Eunju standing in front of me but my boyfriend,Taesu. I actually couldn't believe my eyes.

"Ummm,are you going to keep staring or are you going to give me a hug?"I quickly snapped out of my trance and ran up to him and gave him the biggest hug I've ever given him before. He held me tight in his arms as we pulled away from the hug,

"I missed you"He said in the sexiest whisper I've ever heard or probably just my imagination. He pulled me closer with one of his arm securely wrapped around my waist,then using his other hand,he lifts my chin and then leans in for the kiss. I closed my eyes for my best moment in a while but that dream was short lived when we were interrupted with the clearing of a throat.

"You guys do know I'm right here,right?"It just had to be that bratty Jinu,why of all times was he in the living room killing our moment. Argh!!

Taesu smiled embarrassed,"I totally forgot you were there Jin",I don't still get why Taesu makes his name sound super cool like that of a K-pop star, that's not the point actually,Jinu was ruining the moment I've been waiting for 22 whole months!

"Jinu, what in the world are you doing here?"I asked in a raised hushed voice as Taesu let me go.

"I should be the one saying that, don't you guys know you're in the living room,the general room"He says to emphasize that we were at fault,"You guys should get a room",Oh my friggin' gawd,did a 15-year-old just tell me that?"I'm about to puke because of your romance so please go find somewhere else to be lovey-dovey",he says casually as he picks up the remote. I wasn't planning on letting him go scout free of course,I walked up to him and took the remote to piss him off,"Now,be a good boy and go to your room",I said with a devilish smirk forming on my lips.

"If you had put please,I may have reconsidered since you are my older sister but you leave me no choice",he said as he shook his head in pity for me which got me quite puzzled. What was he trying to pull really?And before I knew it,he went,

"Mom!Mom!!Mommmmmm!!! Jihyo is doing improper things in front of me with her boyfriend. I'm still so young!"He said shouting on top of his voice and ending it with a rather dramatic ending. I had totally forgot that my mom decided to stay back today to paint,and she was always this brat's Trump card. I started begging him to keep his mouth shut but soon mom appeared.

"How many times do I have to tell you Jihyo?You don't do certain things in front of Jinu,Jinu is just 15 honey. I know you love your boyfriend but don't be lovey-dovey in front of Jinu",I could see Jinu behind my mom sticking out his tongue at me. I mean,how childish could he get?"Taesu, I'm so sorry for not acknowledging you earlier"my mom said in her accent stained korean which was actually quite charming,"Jihyo probably didn't welcome you properly due to excitement,come and have a sit in the dinning room"She says taking him by the arm and leading the way.

"Heyy! You can't just steal my boyfriend like that and besides, you're making me look like I'm obsessed with Taesu"

"Aren't you?"My mom and brother chorused. They could really be a handful at times,I didn't have the strength to argue with them. Nothing could ruin my happiness,not now,not ever because I have Taesu and I bet Eunju feels the same way right now as she's with Sijin.
