A car pulled up at a huge company. Many reporters were already waiting in front of the company.

VERIZON!!!!

Dexter came down with a cold look on his face and the reporters immediately rushed to him but thanks to the guards with him, they couldn't touch him.

He went into the company and the workers greeted him but as usual, no reply. He just walked into the elevator and it took him to his office which is way at the top.

The elevator stopped and he came out of it. His secretary was already waiting for him and he threw his bag to her which she caught immediately.

He sat on his chair without giving her a look and she bit her lips.

Iris was her name.

She was wearing extra revealing clothes hoping he'll look at her but he didn't even spare her a glance.

"Good morning Sir!" Iris greeted with a seductive smile hoping he'll look up and he did.

"Did you come to a bar or did you come to work?" He asked coldly and she furrowed her brows.

"I don't understand Sir!" She said.

"Mike!!" He called and his personal guard walked in.

"Escort this lady out of my office" he said and her eyes widened.

"Please don't do this Sir! I don't have any other job and I have my family to take care of. Please Sir!" She kept begging as Mike dragged her out of Dexter's office.

"B*tch!" He cussed before focusing on his work.

After a few minutes, Mike came in and Dexter looked up.

"Get me a new secretary before tomorrow!" He said and Mike nodded before leaving.

Dexter looked back at the paper and continued what he was doing.

Evelyn could be seen walking around the city with a CV in her hand. Her stomach made some grumbling noise and she groaned loudly.

"All this looking for job has made me hungry" she muttered and then she looked left and saw a restaurant.

She smiled widely and went it. After getting a pack of noddles and smoothie, she walked out of the restaurant. She used chop sticks to eat the food as she kept looking around.

She was passing by when she saw two guys in an alley. Her curiosity carried her away and she hid as she eavesdropped on them.

"We have to do the job today" one of them spoke.

"Exactly! He needs to die today" the other spoke and Evelyn gasped then covered her mouth.

The two guys looked her way.

"Who's there?!" One of them asked and pulled out his gun.

She immediately folded her CV before putting it in her bag as she took to her heels and they began running after her.

"Stop right there!!!" He yelled and shot in the air.

The people around there screamed as they ran away from there.

Evelyn threw the food and smoothie in a nearby trash can as she continued running.

She looked back and saw them still coming. She faced front and saw she was in a dead end already.

She looked back and they already came to her.

"Who are you guys?" She stuttered.

"What did you hear?" The one holding the gun asked.

"Hear? I don't understand!" She feigned ignorance.

"Why were you running?" One asked.

"Be... because..." She trailed off.

"You have to die cos you heard what we were saying" the one holding gun said and pointed the gun at her.

"But I don't know who you want to kill!" She said using her innocent face.

"You saw our faces which means you need to die!" He said and she began crying already as she walked to him.

"Please sir. Don't kill me. I'm the only one my mum have. Please!" She cried as she got closer.

The two men looked at each other before laughing.

"That won't.... argh!!" He screamed when she kneed his member making him fall to the ground groaning in pain. She took the gun from him and pointed it at the other one.

"Don't shoot me please!" He said and she walked to him. She kneed his member as well and he held it as he went down.

She threw the gun back at them before running off. She kept running till she got really far from them. She stood panting heavily as she wiped her sweat.

"Gosh!! I almost died again!" She muttered panting heavily.

"Who did they want to kill anyways?" She asked herself before shaking her head.

"That's not your concern. All you need to do is to get a job" she said to herself and continued walking.

She passed in front of VERIZON and she stopped before going back to the front of VERIZON. Her mouth opened as she saw a poster and rushed there to view it.

"Secretary needed. Please a decent, hardworking, dedicated and smart lady should apply" she read loudly and smiled widely.

"That's almost all my attributes" she muttered before arranging her hair.

She smiled and walked into the company. She went to the receptionist and the lady gave her a bright smile.

"What can I do for you miss?" The lady asked.

"I'm here to apply for a secretary" Evelyn said and the woman nodded.

She typed a few things on her laptop and then Mike came to her.

"Follow me!" Mike said and walked to the elevator.

Evelyn followed him and the elevator took them to Dexter's office. They stopped in front of it and the elevator opened.

Dexter was sitting on his chair using his fingers to swing his pencil as he stared at his laptop.

"Boss! She's here!" Mike said and Dexter looked up from his laptop.

He stared at her from head to toe. She was putting on a black short hand crop top and a red cargo pants with black Nike sneakers.

She had a big smile on her face.

"Excuse me!" He told Mike and Mike left the room.

"Have your seat!" He said coldly and she went to sit down opposite him.

He stretched his hand forward and she looked at it before shaking it.

He threw her hands away and she frowned.

"What was that for? You asked for handshake and I accepted it so why the rudeness?" She asked angrily as she held her hand.

"Me stretching my hand doesn't mean I want a handshake. It means I want to see your CV!!" He snapped and she bit her lips.

"You would have been more specific" she said and handed her CV which he collected rudely.

He checked it out with a frown on his face before closing it and handing it back to her.

"Evelyn Gutierrez! Am I correct?" He said and asked.

"Yes!" She replied.

"Why do you want this job?!" He asked.

"To help my mother!" She replied.

"Your kind of dressing isn't suitable for this kind of job" he said with a straight face.

"This is how I dress but I'll change it because of my mum" she said and he nodded slowly.

He began talking but she wasn't even listening because she stared into his eyes and she could see a lot of pains in his eyes.

"Are you listening?" He asked.

"Huh?"

"You can start working by tomorrow. Be here as early as 7am" he said and her eyes widened.

"7am?! Isn't it too early?" She asked and he glared at her.

"I mean 7am it is" she said with a smile.

"Now leave!" He muttered and faced his work again.

"So rude!" She muttered under her breath as she stood up.

"What did you say?" He asked and she rushed out immediately.

"Did I make a big mistake hiring someone like her?" He asked himself.

Evelyn opened the door and closed it before walking to her mum who was watching television in the sitting room.

"Hi mum!" She said and gave her mum a kiss on the cheek.

"How was your search for job?" Deria(her mum) asked.

"Good! I'm starting work tomorrow and I need to rest" she said tiredly.

"Are you hungry?" Her mum asked.

"Nope! Good night mum and please sleep on time" she said and her mum smiled.

"I will. Sleep tight" Deria said.

"You too!" She muttered and smiled before walking into her room.

She flung her shoe away and threw her bag to where she doesn't know.

She fell on the bed tiredly and she closed her eyes.

"Just a few minutes then I'll go and bath!" She muttered sleepily.

†††† THE NEXT MORNING ††††

The rays of the sun pierced her eyes and she squinted her eyes. She sat up slowly before rubbing her eyes as she yawned loudly.

She looked at the clock and gasped when she saw the time.

7:30am!!!!!

"OMG!!! Am dead. Am dead!!" She screamed before jumping down from bed.

She took a quick shower before coming out with a towel tied around her hair and body. She went to her closet and began looking for clothes to wear.

She brought out a black baggy jean and a white crop top but then she remembered something.

"Your kind of dressing isn't suitable for this kind of job" Dexter said with a straight face.

"Gosh!! Who is he to decide my way of dressing?" She asked herself.

*He's your boss!!* Her subconscious mind said and she groaned loudly.

"But why was there so much pain and sadness in his eyes?" She asked herself again.

"That's none of your business Evelyn. Just focus on your job" she said.

She dropped the clothes back and searched for a cloth.

She found a white long sleeve off shoulder crop top and a black skirt that reached her thigh.

She put them on before wearing a white Nike shoe. She packed her hair in a ponytail bringing two at the front. She applied a little makeup, sprayed perfume and wore her wristwatch.

She started looking for her hand bag but she couldn't find it.

"Where's my bag?" She screamed searching for it.

She found it near the door and she picked it up immediately. She opened her door and rushed out.

"Good morning mum! Bye mum!" She said.

"Eat breakfast at least!" Deria said and she rushed back to carry bread.

She stuffed it in her mouth and drank water immediately.

"It was delicious. Thank you. Love you. Bye!!" She rushed her words and pecked her mum on the cheek before running out.

She hailed a cab and it took her to VERIZON immediately. She got down and paid the cab driver before rushing in.

She rushed into the company and entered the elevator. She calmed down when the elevator started moving. It stopped at the top floor and she rushed out entering his office immediately.

Dexter who was drinking wine dropped the glass on the table before standing up.

Evelyn was breathing heavily as she looked at him walking before standing up straight.

"You're late!!" He said coldly and she bit her lips.

"I'm sorry. It won't happen again!" She said looking at him.

"The next time it happens, consider yourself fired!!" He snapped and she nodded.

He rolled his eyes and walked back to his chair. He carried a file and pointed it at her.

"Come and take!" He said and she rushed to collect it.

She began going through it and saw how busy he was.

"Are you a robot or something? How do you do all this in a day? When will you even sleep or eat or rest?" She asked as she kept flipping the pages.

"That has nothing to do with you. The only thing you are meant to do is to tell me my schedule each day I come to work. Got it!" He said and she looked up from the file.

"Sure!" She said.

"That's not the way you reply your boss!" He said and she rolled her eyes.

"Yes boss!" She muttered.

"Good!" He said.

"What am I having this morning?" He asked.

"A business meeting with the share holders of Verizon by 8am!" She said and checked her watch.

"Which is now!" She said and he stood up.

"Let's go!" He said and walked into the elevator.

She walked in as well and kept a big distance from him. The elevator stopped and they walked out and went into the meeting room.

All the share holders rose up at the sight of him and after he sat down, that's when they sat down as well.

Evelyn sat close to him as she stared at the faces of the men.

One of them looked at her and licked his lips.

"You had a change of secretary. Nice" he said staring at her.

Dexter looked at him before looking at his file. They started immediately but the guy wasn't listening, he was staring at Evelyn. Different nasty thoughts was running through his mind as he licked his lips again.

Dexter looked up and saw him staring at Evelyn. He banged the table loudly making him look at him.

"This meeting wasn't meant for you to stare at my secretary. It is to discuss issues concerning the company's goods!!" He snapped and Evelyn looked at him.

"I know you hired her for a reason Dexter" he said.

"Yes I did. For her to work for me. What else could be the reason?" He asked calmly.

"Okay but can't I just admire again?" He asked angrily and Dexter stood up.

"You aren't admiring her. You are lusting over her and that isn't allowed here" Dexter said and the man sighed before standing up.

"She......"

"One more word from you and you'll leave this company" Dexter said seriously and the man sat down immediately.

Evelyn was just staring at him with dreamy eyes.

'Dis he just...defend me?' She thought with a huge smile as she kept staring at him.

The meeting went smoothly and Evelyn kept smiling none stop till she arrived at his office.

"Would you stop that weird smile of yours? It's annoying!!" He snapped as he sat on his chair making her frown.

"I'm just happy because you defended me" she said.

"I didn't defend you, I only stopped him from saying nasty things. He wasn't even listening to what I was saying so that's why" he said.

"Whatever!" She said and went to sit down at her own desk which is far from Dexter.

She saw a huge pile of paper work on the desk and her mouth opened.

"I want you to go over those papers and when you're done, print 20 copies of each" he said and she looked at him before closing her mouth.

"Yes sir!" She replied and faced the paper work.

She groaned inwardly as she picked the first paper and started her work.

She finished it and dropped it on the other side of the table.

She picked another one and was about to continue when Dexter called her.

She stood up and walked to meet him.

"Yes!" She said.

"Get me a coffee. It shouldn't be hot or cold. It should be at room temperature" he said and she nodded before leaving.

After getting the coffee, she rode the elevator back to his office. She dropped it on his desk and he picked it up.

He drank out of it before dropping it back.

She waited for him to say something but he didn't. He looked up at her to still see her standing there.

"Why are you still standing there? Won't you get back to work?" He asked.

"I was expecting a thank you or even......."

"You job is to be of help to me. I'm not supposed to thank you for doing your job" he snapped and she bit her lips.

"I'll get back to work then" she muttered before walking back to her desk.

She began her work again.

Evelyn's eyes were already feeling heavy as she kept reading the papers. She dropped the last one and sighed dropping her head on the table.

"Finally!" She muttered shutting her eyes.

Dexter who was sipping from his wine while staring at his laptop looked up at her.

He dropped his wine and stood up before walking to her. He banged his hand on the table and she spranged up immediately.

"What are you doing?" He asked and she rubbed her eyes.

"I was emm ....." She bit her lips.

"Finish your work and start going home!" He said and she stared into his eyes again.

Pain and sadness was in his eyes as he spoke.

"Are you okay sir?" She asked shocking him.

"I said you should finish your work. Why are you asking me stupid questions?!!" He yelled startling her.

"Sorry!" She said and picked the pile of papers as she headed to the elevator.

She got in and the elevator closed.

"He's so rude!" She muttered and the elevator stopped at the 6th floor.

The company has 10 floors, the top one is the 10th floor.

She put the paper in the printer and it began printing.

"While it's printing, lemme have some fun" she muttered and brought out her phone.

She immediately went to audiomack and played 'Cruel Summer' by Taylor Swift.

She began dancing to the beat swinging her arms as she danced.

She removed the hair band she used to hold her hair and began swinging her hair as she danced.

Dexter who heard the loud music groaned and stood up.

He entered the elevator and it took him to the 6th floor. He walked in and saw Evelyn twerking. He couldn't help but stare at her back side.

She turned around and saw Dexter there.

"Arghh!" She shrieked and fell to the floor.

She stood up slowly and switched off the music.

"I'm so sorry!" She said.

"Don't play any more music here" he said coldly and she nodded.

He turned to walk away when she said something.

"He's so annoying!" She muttered and he looked back at her.

"What did you say?" He asked.

"I said you're so amazing!" She lied and he started going again.

"Big headed..." She whispered and he looked back again.

"What did you say?" He asked walking to her.

"I said cute headed guy!" She lied again.

"One more word from you and you'll leave this company tonight" he said and she nodded.

He entered the elevator and went to his office.

She groaned and carried the 20 copies of paper work.

It was heavy. Really heavy as she carried it.

She entered the elevator and dropped it on the ground before the elevator took off.

It stopped at Dexter's office and she carried it again walking slowly to his desk.

She dropped it there and sighed.

"That was really heavy!" She muttered.

"You can go home now!" He said and she smiled.

"Thank you!" She said and carried her bag before rushing out of the office and into the elevator.

It took her to the first floor and she left the building.

"Finally. I'm out of that hell hole" she muttered and started walking.

The night breeze blowing her hair as she walked.

She opened her door and saw no one.

She walked to her mum's room and met her sleeping soundly on the bed. She smiled and kissed her forehead before covering her well with the duvet.

She walked to her room and undressed herself before entering the bathroom.

She took almost 20 minutes in the shower before wearing a big oversized T-shirt and a black bum short.

The door bell rang.

"Who's at the door by this time?" She asked herself.

She dried her hair with the towel before packing it in a messy bun. She wore her bunny slippers and walked downstairs.

She peeped through the eye hole to see who was there but she saw no one.

She opened the door and gasped when two figures jumped in the front.

"Surprise!!!!" They shouted and she smiled widely.

"Emilia! Jeremy!" She called and hugged them tightly.

Emilia and Jeremy are her best friends from secondary school. They were separated when they went to different schools in different countries to finish their education and now that they're back, they decided to visit Evelyn.

She broke the hug and ushered them to come in which they did.

Evelyn closed the door behind her and sat on the couch with Emilia.

Jeremy was sitting on the other couch beside them.

"I missed you guys so much!" Evelyn muttered.

"I missed you too!" They said together and they all laughed.

"Where's aunty Deria?" Emilia asked.

"She's sleeping!"

"Alright!" Emilia said.

"You've really grown Evelyn" Jeremy said with a smile.

"Yeah! You've become quite cute" she said and he blushed.

"You too!" He said and Emilia bit her lips.

"What of me huh?" She asked cutely.

Evelyn and Jeremy looked at each other before looking back at her.

"You're the cutest in this group!!" Evelyn said.

"You're the ugliest in this group!!" Jeremy said.

Immediately Jeremy said that, he stood up getting ready to run. Emilia stood up and started chasing him.

Evelyn was just laughing as she stared at them.

When Jeremy was passing Evelyn's front, she set her leg in front of him and he fell on the nearby couch.

Emilia jumped on him and started slapping him but in a playful way.

"Take that back!" She said.

"No!" He said and she slapped him.

"Take it back!" She said.

"You're the cutest girl I've ever seen. Happy now?" He said and asked.

"Awwn!" Evelyn said and Emilia blushed.

"Good!" She said and stood up from him.

"It's late guys, I think you should get going now. I need to sleep!" She said.

"Huh?! You're chasing us?" Emilia asked.

"No. I need to be at work by 7am tomorrow morning and if I don't come there early. I'll be fired!" Evelyn said.

"Alright we get. We'll come back tomorrow but which time should we come?" Jeremy said and asked.

"I dunno honestly but if I'm free, I'll call you guys" she said.

"How when you don't have our numbers" Emilia said with a smirk.

"Give them to me then!" She said and they chuckled.

They gave her their numbers and Evelyn smiled.

"We will be looking for job tomorrow!" Emilia said.

"I hope you find one!" Evelyn said and they smiled.

"Thank you! Bye!" Emilia said.

"Bye!" Jeremy said as well and Evelyn waved at them.

They opened the door and left.

Evelyn sighed and locked the door. She dropped the key in the drawer before yawning.

"Now time for bed!" She said and switched off all the lights before entering her room.

She set her alarm to 6:30 am before using the duvet to cover herself as she drifted to sleep.

Jeremy was driving the car and Emilia stared at him.

"You still like her?" Emilia asked.

"Yes. I tried killing it but it didn't work" he said without looking at her.

"You know you'll only get yourself hurt right?" She said.

"How?" He asked.

"She doesn't like you..."

"You don't know that!" He said.

"I do. I don't want you to get your heart broken so just trying killing the feelings before it grows" she said and he looked at her.

"If I could get over her, I would have done it a long time ago" he said and faced the road.

"Besides, there's no other guy in her life so I still have a chance" he said and Emilia bit her lips hurt fully before looking outside the window.

He stopped in front of her house and she came down.

"Bye!" She said with a forced smile.

"Bye!" He said and drove off.

She sighed and walked into the house. She walked upstairs and fell on the bed tiredly.

Tears formed in her eyes.

Dexter went back home by 11pm and threw his bag on the bed.

He removed his tie and tossed it on the bed as well.

He opened a few buttons of his shirt as he laid on his bed.

He closed his eyes but opened them again when what happened to him flashed in his dream.

"Why can't it just go away? Why?" He thought as tears filled his eyes.

He blinked back his tears and got up. He undressed himself and went to shower.

He came out and put on a singlet and a blue short. He laid back on the bed and used the duvet to cover himself.

He closed his eyes again hoping he wouldn't dream of what happened to him before.

"No!! Please don't do this!!" Dexter said crying as he moved back on the ground.

A man who was holding a sharp knife smirked and got closer.

Dexter kept moving back till his back hit the wall.

The man got closer and raised the knife before stabbing him.

"Arghhhhhhh!!!!!!" He screamed as he spranged up from bed immediately breathing heavily.

Hot tears were streaming down his eyes as he hugged his knee to himself.

"Get a grip of yourself Dexter. He's dead now!" He assured himself and wiped his tears.

He sighed and came down the bed shakily. He walked to the restroom and took a cold shower.

He came out with a towel around his waist as he went to his closet.

He brought out a white button shirt and a black jean. He put them on and left three buttons of his shirt opened.

He wore a black sneaker and carried his bag. He wore a neck chain that has the letter "D" on it. He brushed his hair and sprayed a little perfume.

He walked out of his room and went downstairs. He didn't bother eating so he went to his car.

His driver opened the door and he got in. In 5 minutes time, he arrived at the company and got down.

As usual, many of his fans were waiting for him. His guards didn't allow any of them to touch him till they got into the company.

Dexter entered the elevator and it took him to his office. He entered and saw Evelyn already waiting for him so he threw his bag at her and she caught it immediately.

"Good morning Sir!" She greeted with a pretty smile but he ignored her and sat down.

He sighed and rested his head on the back of the chair. Evelyn's stomach growled loudly and she held her stomach.

She went to the couch there and dropped his bag on it before walking to him.

"Sir!" She called and he opened his eyes. He sat straight and looked at her from head to toe.

She was putting on a black off shoulder black gown that stopped at her thigh. She was wearing a black high heel and she let her hair loose.

"Sir!" She called again and he looked at her.

"Can I go and get some food before we start work for today?" She asked.

"Why didn't you buy some food when you were coming?" He asked.

"I thought I was already late so I didn't bother eating" she said.

"Since you didn't eat before coming, then you'll have to wait till you finish your work before eating" he said.

"I can't wait that long sir. Please!" She pleaded.

"I didn't eat this morning yet I ain't hungry" he said and just immediately, his stomach growled loudly.

He looked away feeling a bit embarrassed and Evelyn couldn't help but laugh out loudly.

"I thought you weren't hungry" she said and laughed again.

He sighed...

"You can go get food!" He said and she stopped laughing.

"Really?!" She asked.

"Yeah! Now go!" He said and looked away.

"Thank you" she said and rushed out.

He stood up and went to watch her from the window.

She crossed the road carefully before getting two packs of noodles and two fruit shake. She crossed the road again and went into the company.

Dexter went to sit back at his table and she came in.

"Here's your food!" She said handing him one pack of noodles and a fruit shake.

"Enjoy!" She said and walked back to her desk.

She sat down and ate her noodles slowly. She looked at Dexter but he wasn't eating. He was just staring at the food.

She sighed and dropped her food on the table. She stood up and walked to him.

She grabbed his hand and pulled him up.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"Doing my job!" She said and pulled him to sit on the couch.

She carried his noodles and went to sit beside him. She used the chopsticks to pick some noddles before bringing it close to his mouth but he didn't eat.

"Come on open your mouth. I spent my money buying you food. You can't say you won't eat it" she said and he rolled his eyes before opening his mouth.

She put the food in his mouth and smiled widely as he chewed on the food.

"You see? It wasn't so bad was it?" She asked and he glared at her making her chuckle.

She fed him again till he finished the food.

"And you're done!" She said and stood up. She carried the fruit shake and put the straw in his mouth.

He drank the juice till the last drop and she smiled.

"You're done! I'll go eat mine now" she said and stood up walking back to her desk.

"Evelyn!" He called and she turned to look at him.

"You need anything?" She asked.

"Bring your food!" He said and her eyes widened.

'Is he gonna eat mine too?' She thought before going to carry her food.

She came back to meet him and she handed him the food.

"Sit!" He said and she sat beside him.

He carried the noodles and held the chopsticks before carrying some noodles.

'Goodbye noodles' she thought sadly.

Her eyes widened when he brought it to her mouth.

"Open up!" He said and she obeyed.

He shoved it into her mouth and she chewed slowly before swallowing.

"Why?" She asked.

"You fed me so am returning the favour!" He said and she smiled.

"Thank you!" She said and he carried another noodle and she opened her mouth.

He shoved into her mouth and she chewed it slowly.

He kept feeding her till it finished. He carried the fruit shake and put the straw in her mouth.

She stared at his face as she drank the juice.

He stared at her lips sucking the drink out of the cup.

She finished and brought the straw out of her mouth.

"Thank you!" She said and he nodded before going back to his seat.

She threw the packs of noodles and the container of fruit shake into the trash can.

She carried a book that has his schedule and walked to him.

"What am I having today?" He asked.

"You're supposed to sign a contract with Miguel Garcia by 8:30am!" She said.

"Go on!" He said.

"You're supposed to dine with the business partners of M&S stores by 12pm."

"You are having a meeting with the shareholders by 3pm."

"You're to attend the wedding of Mr Gideon by 7pm which will last till 10pm" she said.

"Alright! Let's go to Miguel's company to sign the contract!" He said and she nodded.

She picked up his bag and followed him from behind till they entered the elevator.

She kept a far distance from him and he looked at her.

"I don't bite!" He said.

"Yes you do but not physically!" She said and he chuckled shocking her.

"Did you just...smile?" She asked staring at him but she didn't get any response.

The elevator stopped and they walked out of the company.

The reporters were still there and when they saw him, they rushed to him.

Dexter's guard came immediately and pushed them out of the way. Dexter walked to the car and the driver opened the door for him to enter.

"Am his secretary. Not his girlfriend!" Evelyn said and walked away. She entered the car and the door closed.

The drive began and she sighed.

'How will they think am his girlfriend?' She thought and looked at him.

'But he is cute though!' She thought again and he looked at her.

She immediately looked away and bit her lips.

'What's wrong with you Evelyn!!?' She screamed inwardly.

The car stopped at the front of a company and Evelyn and Dexter came down.

They walked into the company and Miguel's secretary showed them the way.

They entered the room and Miguel who was sitting down on the chair talking to his colleagues sighted him and stood up.

"Dexter!" He called and gave him a brotherly hug which Dexter didn't reciprocate.

He broke the hug and smiled. He saw Evelyn behind and smirked.

"Hello beautiful!" He said stretching his hand for an handshake.

Evelyn looked at his hand before accepting the handshake.

She forced a smile and when he brought her hands to his lips, she pulled out of his grip.

He cleared his throat a little before talking.

"Have your seats!" He said and they sat down in the chair which was meant for them.

Miguel went to seat down on his chair as he smiled.

"Alright! Give me a reason why I should sign this contract with you" Miguel said and Dexter spoke.

"At Verizon, we offer premium marketing services to companies which serve nice markets like yours and help them grow. If you sign this contract with Verizon, we would be able to work together and......."

Dexter couldn't finish what he was saying when Miguel interrupted him.

"I'm not signing the contract!" He said calmly.

"You didn't let me finish" Dexter said.

"Even if I let you, I will still not sign the contract with you" he said and Dexter's fist folded underneath the table.

"Interrupting someone when they're talking is a really bad thing to do" Evelyn said and everyone looked at her.

"Your company excels in selling products that promotes health across the world and we are also aware your company has amazing potential to grow if marketed in the best way. Our team excels in different marketing techniques which are very helpful for you to grow. We extremely believe that this business partnership will prove to be a wonderful opportunity for both the companies to prosper together. You won't regret working with Verizon, I promise" Evelyn said and everywhere was damn quiet.

Dexter, Miguel and everyone there were shocked with the way she spoke.

A round of applause was given to her and she smiled widely.

"You just convinced me. I'm signing the contract!" Miguel said and Dexter looked at him.

"Really?" Dexter asked.

"Yes. Your secretary is really good. Mind if we ex....."

"Don't even think about it" Dexter said and Miguel laughed.

The contract was signed and they went back to the company.

Dexter sat on the chair and Evelyn dropped Dexter's bag on the couch and began jumping happily.

"We just signed the contract sir. I'm so freaking happy" she said turning around.

"It's because of you. I didn't know you were this smart" he said and she stopped.

"You just complimented me didn't you?" She said feeling surprised.

"That means I did well. If the cold hearted CEO said I did well, then I did well" she said and began twirling.

She lost her balance and fell to the ground.

Dexter just sat there waiting for her to stand up but she didn't.

"Get up already!" He said but got no reply.

"Your joke ain't funny!" He said but she didn't reply.

He got up and walked towards her. He looked down at her and stared at her.

"Stop pretending!" He said but he didn't get any response.

He crouched down at her as his eyes became soft.

"Stop pretending!" He said.

He tapped her but she didn't open her eyes.

"Wake up!" He said shaking her but she didn't wake up.

"Alright then. I'll do mouth to mouth respiration!" He said and began leaning in when her eyes opened.

"Don't!" She said and his eyes went cold again.

"That wasn't funny!" He said.

"Why? Because you were worried about me?" She asked.

"Nah!" He said and stood up.

"Hey help me up!" She said and he stretched his hand.

She grabbed his hand and he pulled her up.

She began rubbing her forehead which ached badly.

"Ouch!" She muttered when the pain came again.

He noticed her behavior and went to his phone.

He dialled Mike's number and Mike picked at the first ring.

📱 "Get me a towel and a bowl of warm water" he said and hung up.

"Come!" He said and held her wrist pulling her to the couch.

She laid down on the couch and Dexter stared at her.

"Why did you fall like that?" He asked.

"I was just happy because I won a contract for you on my second day of work" she said..

"Still. You wouldn't have jumped around like that and you knew you were wearing heels!" He scolded her.

"Sorry!" She said and pouted.

He couldn't help but stare at her pouted lips.
