BEING THE GOOD MAID

In most cases, being a maid was by force or there wasn't a choice but Victoria, a nineteen years old girl accepted to work as a maid because it was her choice, she chosed to work as a rich woman's maid knowing the condition that she couldn't resign or back out until after five years.

Victoria's parents weren't rich and weren't poor but when she graduated from high school, her parents couldn't send her to university but they were saving up for it. She was grateful for that and stayed home for a years without doing anything. Her parents never wanted her to work, so she listened to them and stayed home but unfortunately her father lost his only paying job. Who was going to cater for the family now?

Her mother was just a trader and her income couldn't be enough to take care of the family because Victoria has two brothers who were still in middle school. She had to do something, she went out to find a job and when she eventually did, it was a five year deal. Five years?

She looked at the woman she wanted to work for and felt something in her heart, she sign the contract and lied to her parents she was working as an home lesson teacher in the city. She lives in the city but the hidden part, where few people knew. She lied to her parents she will be back in a week and when she didn't come back, they received a text that they shouldn't worry about her. That she's following her dreams, they wished her luck.

Working with madam Tina was so much fun and wasn't stressing for the two months she had spent with her, her madam who was a pregnant woman, with the look of it, she might be four months pregnant. That's what Victoria thought.

Everything was fine until the day, Victoria saw her madam and her husband fighting. She couldn't let her Sir beat a pregnant woman, so she cuts in and stopped the man.

When everything was settled and her Sir went out, she sat next to her madam expecting a thank you but she was slapped. What just happened?

The pain on her cheek caused tears falling from her brown eyes that was surrounded with long dark lashes.

Victoria was so shocked. Her madam have never slapped her or looked at her that way. She looked stunned as she held her cheek looking at her madam as she stood up and pushed her to the ground.

Victoria fell down to the ground in pain. Madam Tina kicked her stomach looking down at her as she screamed out loud in pain. What was going on? Victoria was still wondering.

"Does it hurt?" Madam Tina mocked her. "Now, don't you ever talk or act that way to my husband. Did you hear me?!" She yelled at her and with Victoria's hands covering her face. "Yes, ma'am. I'm really sorry" she apologized. Madam Tina crossed over her and walked away with her growing belly.

Victoria sat up wondering why her madam behaved that way. She thought if it and realized why she did that. Her madam felt ashamed in front of her because of what she saw. She thinks Victoria had bad intentions.

She was asked not to try that again but didn't assure herself she would.

"Go make dinner!" Madam exclaimed from her room.

"Yes ma'am!" She replied and ran to the kitchen. The house was huge and was painted in rich colours.

That was the first time madam treated her bad not knowing things would get worse day by day.

Another two months passed, madam Tina had grown more aggressive. She wasn't Victoria's friend anymore. She's always pushing, slapping and beating her but still Victoria look out for her when her husband starts a fight.

A day came when her madam brought a cane home and because of that she had black marks on her skin, even if she wanted to resign she couldn't not only because of the five years deal but because she felt her madam needed her.

In the morning after finishing her chores and making breakfast for her madam and also doing the dishes, she sat on a couch resting when her madam walked past her, planning to go out. The dress she wore wasn't nice at all.

"Ma'am" she called her attention before she went to the door.

"Anything?" She asked

"Not really, just... Your outfit.." she stood up as she stammered. What has she gotten herself into?

"Yes go on" she said with a stern voice.

"It's not nice" Victoria said.

Oh God! Why does she always puts herself in trouble? She shut her mouth closed as she studied the expression on her Madam's face. As she came closer Victoria took steps backwards.

"Ma.. ma'am I'm really sorry I didn't mean tooooo" she apologized and the her madam took her hand and dragged her into her room. Victoria really loves the way her madam room smelt.

Madam Tina left her hand and went to the full length mirror. "Is it really not nice?" She asked, knowing herself it isn't nice. She was bad in choosing clothes.

Victoria was surprised, this isn't what she had expected but she thanked the Almighty.

She went to stand beside her madam, she didn't know why she's always going close to her when she keeps pushing her away. "Ma'am I really didn't mean to say that. I'm terribly sorry" she apologized again, her head down.

Madam Tina just stared at her and then told her to follow her to the bathroom. "Chose a nice outfit then" she instructed Victoria. Again she was shocked. "What are you waiting for?" The stern voice brought her back to the room. "Right ma'am. Right away" she said rushing to the wardrobe.

"Ma'am this will look nice on you especially in this hot weather" she said lifting a short gown.

She collected it and placed it next to her comparing. She couldn't admit it was better, she just went to change.

"From now on, you'd be the one to chose my outfit. I'm off" she spoke after she changed and was ready to leave.

"Yes ma'am" she accepted. Victoria was happy that her madam didn't gave her the beating of her life because of her mouth. She looked at the room and decided to clean up.

Starting with the bed, she laid the bedsheet, bending and suddenly she felt hands around her waist and was pulled against a body. She turned around to see who it was and immediately yanked away.

"Oh, you are back sir. Welcome" she welcomed him ignoring what he just did, she decided to take it as a mistake thinking he thought it was his wife.

Victoria was about leaving the room when he stopped her by holding her waist and the pushed her to the bed.
