Nisha's POV
Today is Monday, and the sun is shining brightly, promising the day will be pleasant. I can hear the birds singing as they play in the tree in front of the house. I was making pancakes for morning when I heard noises from behind me, which made me grin.
"Mom, pig just stole again my things!"
"Mom, cow, you're lying! I didn't steal anything from her!"
I stopped what I was doing to look at the two people bickering in front of me, and I simply smiled as I looked at my lovely son and daughter.
"Imri Reyan Damore, return what you took from your sister," I said to my 17-year-old son, who was taken aback by what he heard from me.
"Mom! I'll tell you the truth: I didn't steal anything from her! " He argued, defending himself against the allegation.
"Where is my favorite jacket if you didn't steal it?" "My 17-year-old daughter, Boone Arsha Damore, questioned of her younger brother about the whereabouts of her jacket.
I returned my focus to the pancakes I was preparing and moved them to the two plates alongside the stove before carrying both plates to the table while still listening to my son and daughter who were still arguing.
"I'm not sure!" And I have an alibi: I would never take that hideous jacket of yours! I despise anime! " Imr reasoned out and explained why he would not take his sister's jacket.
"My jacket is not awful!" she said. "And just so you know, you loathing my jacket could be a motive to steal it so you can get rid of it!" " Boone argued back to his brother.
When I finished placing the dishes on the table, I leaned against the wall to watch my two kids argue about who stole the jacket. I merely grinned as I saw their obstinacy and seriousness while confronting each other.
"Wow, I'm not that awful to steal it and get rid of that hideous jacket, which I can't even touch since it's so hideous!" Imr justified himself once more, citing reasons why he did not take it.
Boone locked his gaze on his brother's face, "No, I'm sure you took it, just give it back!" Boone said, still convinced that her brother had stolen it.
"I told you I didn't take it!" First and foremost, how can I steal it from you when you have a lock put inside your room? " Imr said once again, citing reasons why he can't steal it.
"One of the reasons you stole my jacket was because you like solving puzzles, especially numbers!" Boone responded to his brother.
Imr was upset as he looked at his sister, who was staring at him with an icy expression. "What's the connection with me who likes puzzles and is skilled at numbers?! It makes no sense! I've told you many times that there's no need for me to steal your jacket. "Imr reacted with a confused tone of voice.
Even though I want to keep watching their argument about who stole the jacket, I have to put a stop to it because they will be late for school. I walk over to where they're standing and try to stop them.
"Now, Imr, please return your elder sister's jacket to her, okay?" I said to Imr, who was staring at me with disbelief.
"Do you think I stole it, Mom?" Is it so awful in your perspective that I would do such a thing to my own sister? Unbelievable! "Imr replied, 'I can't believe his own mother thinks how horrible his son is to do something like this to her own sister,' and I could feel the pain in his eyes as he looked at me.
"I Imr that's not i-" I was about to complete my remark when I heard a sob behind me.
I caught sight of Boone weeping as she looked at her brother.
"G-Give me back the gift Grandpa gave me, jerk!" As tears streamed down her cheeks, she asked her brother to return her jacket, which his grandfather had given her.
"Goddamn it! Isn't it so unfair that it's two vs one? Whatever it was, I didn't take it! " Imr exclaimed in surprise at his voice and stormed out of the kitchen.
Before he could leave the kitchen, he collided with someone, which caused him to stop and check who he had bumped with, "Nana?! " He exclaimed, startled in his voice.
When Boone and I heard Imr exclaim, we both looked up and saw my grandmother beaming at Imr, so Boone walked up to welcome her grandmother.
"Nana, what brings you here?" " Boone questioned, smiling as she kissed her grandmother's cheeks in welcome.
"How come I'm not permitted to see my grandkids, even though I miss them so much?" " My grandmother reacted with joy in her voice as Imr kissed her cheeks as a greeting.
"Of course, Nana, you are welcome to visit us at any moment!" As a response, Boone smiled at her grandmother.
"That's wonderful," grandmother said to Boone, who was beaming, "but why are you so downcast? Are you upset that I came to see you? " Grandmother took note when she observed Imr wasn't speaking.
When his grandma stated that, Imr was caught off guard and compelled to modify his attitude to one of happiness. "No Nana, I am delighted that you came to see us, I was just thinking about something so don't worry," Imr explained.
"Hmmm... What were you thinking about, dear? Your girlfriend?" grandmother probed once again, interested as to what his grandchild was thinking.
Imr was taken aback by his grandmother's question and shakes his head in denial. "I don't have a girlfriend Nana, I was just thinking about the assignment we had at school," Imr explained.
"Hmmm.... Is it true that was homework? "Grandmother stated she was still skeptical, but trusted her grandson's explanation." Anyway, as I was headed into the kitchen, I heard someone arguing, who was it? " Grandmother questioned as she headed towards the table to place her handbag on the table.
"But no one was arguing?" Is that correct, mom? " Boone lied in response, urging me to lie as well.
I looked at Imr, who was suddenly silent and not looking at anybody. grandmother was gazing at me, waiting for my affirmation.
So, I feigned a grin as I replied to grandmother, "Yes, I suppose you heard me arguing with my friend on the phone," I claimed lying.
"Is that so dear?" grandmother accepted my bogus explanation and sat down at the table, took one of the pancakes, and ate it " This is really good sweetie," grandmother said of the pancake that I made.
"Thank you, grandmother," I replied as I sat down at the table with my grandmother to eat.
"Oh dears, you're not going to eat your breakfast?" grandmother inquired at Boone and Imr, who had not moved.
The sound of the bus was heard promptly outside the house, jolting them back to reality. They made eye contact as they heard the bus approaching and raced to gather their belongings.
"Mom, we're leaving; goodbye, Grandma!" They both waved us farewell and dashed outside to catch the bus.
grandmother and I were the only ones remaining inside the house after the kids had departed. Grandmother was still eating the pancakes that Boone and Imr didn't eat, and I was just preparing my morning coffee, and while I carefully stirred my coffee, I was staring out our kitchen window.
"Dear, I want you to kill someone," grandmother stated abruptly and solemnly.
When I heard what she said to me, I stopped stirring my coffee and looked at her, "What are you saying, grandmother?" " I questioned, pretending that I don't understand what she's saying.
grandmother laughed sarcastically at what she heard from me. "Dear, don't pretend you don't understand what I'm saying, we both know what I mean," grandmother remarked seriously to me.
Damn it! I walked up to the table with my coffee and placed it on the table, taking a seat in front of mum, who was still staring at me coldly.
"You know I don't do it anymore, grandmother?" "I reminded grandmother that I had quit doing it.
"It doesn't mean you can't start afresh, sweetie," grandmother explained.
"Are you insane, grandmother?" " I was enraged with her.
grandmother only smirked at my reply, "Perhaps? Just be honest, sweetie, you miss your little adventure as an assassin," grandmother said as she finished the last of the pancakes on the table.
I glanced at grandmother coldly as I heard the term assassin on her lips. Yes, I was an assassin in the past, but I quit when I was pregnant with my children, and I've been acting like a normal person ever since, forgetting about my former life.
"Don't you dare mention that word, grandmother," I threatened her as I began drinking my cold morning coffee.
"Ranie, what's the deal with the term assassin?" grandmother asked "It's only a word," grandmother explained to me, using my former name.
"Don't use that name," I threatened grandmother as I tightened my grip on my cup.
Grandmother was not even fazed by my threat to her; instead, she merely grinned mischievously and held her chin between her palms in front of me and said, "Why can't I use the name that your grandfather and I gave you when you were born in this world?" Grandmother questioned, her voice icy and intimidating.
"Because that name is already dead and should be forgotten," I said, not frightened of her intimidation.
"If your grandfather hears that, lovely Ranie, he will be unhappy at you for suggesting it should be forgotten. Do you know how carefully your grandfather thought about the name he would give to his second granddaughter, and you will just say forget about it?" grandmother exclaimed angrily, remembering grandfather.
"Grandmother, I'm simply stating the facts, Ranie Oleen Nach and Nyx are both dead, okay? So don't ever bring up the deceased again," I told grandmother.
"Hmm... did you say anything?" Grandmother asked, pretending not to hear what I said, "Anyway, you need to assassinate someone for me, it was your grandfather's last wish when he died, he wants you to kill his longtime rival," grandmother added standing up, walking towards the fridge, opening it, getting water to drink, pouring it into the glass, and sipping it all.
"Did you hear what I said, grandmother?" I questioned, agitated." I can't do what you're saying since Nyx is no longer alive! " I objected, disagreeing with what my grandmother had conveyed to me.
"Only your name is dead, sweetie, not your body; you are alive so you may accomplish what your grandfather has asked you to do; do you not love your grandfather? "grandmother questions my affections for my grandfather. "How come you accept when it's someone else but not when it's your family, it's so unfair," grandmother commented.
Well, crap. You're also being unjust, grandmother, since you know how weak I am when it comes to my grandfather.
"All right, who shall I murder? But this is the last time I will assassinate someone," I asked, telling grandmother that this is the final time I will assassinate someone.
grandmother's face lit up when she heard I consented to her request, and she smiled at me. "I'll tell you tomorrow when you reach your location, sweetie, but for now you best pack your things first," grandmother remarked enthusiastically to me.
Before I could respond, she grabbed both of my shoulders and helped me rise up from the chair, then pulled me inside my room. I have a nagging suspicion that I should not have agreed to do this.
Nisha's POV
The next day, I was in the airport with my luggage with mom saying farewell to me, along with Boone and Imr, who thought I was going on a one-year business trip. grandmother merely informed me where my target was residing, which was in New York, and that I needed to fly from the United States to New York. That's all she told me. She stated that everything will be discussed to me once I got to my destination.
"Mom, we'll miss you," Boone whispered, fighting back tears as she embraced me firmly.
"I will also miss you sweetheart, so in the meantime, follow what your grandma says okay?" I hugged her back tightly.
" Don't cause any havoc while I'm away? " I answered, issuing commands for them to obey while I am not around.
"We will, mom," they both assured.
"Good, let me embrace you both again so I can have energy to finish my work and come home early," I said, and they both moved to hug me, and I held them strongly till I was contented.
After saying my final farewell, I boarded the plane and began planning my strategies to kill my target swiftly so that I may come home to my children as soon as possible. Just wait, whomever you are, I'll kill you in an instant and return home.
After hours of waiting in the plane, I eventually arrived in New York. After getting off the plane, I walked directly to the apartment that my mother claimed she had purchased for me; this is where I will live for one year, but I suddenly realized why one year? I mean, I can kill the target right now and go home the next day. It's strange, and I've had negative sentiments about it since grandmother informed me about it.
"Welcome, Ms. Damore," a 40-year-old man said as he stood in front of the door of the apartment where I'll be residing starting today, a grin on his lips.
I stare him in the eyes, mystified as to who the old man in front of me is. "May I know who you are?" " I questioned the elderly gentleman.
"Oh, please pardon Ms. Damore, I forgot to introduce myself," the old gentleman apologized and cleared his throat, "I am Mr. Cato Favian Xander Ms. Nach." The old man presented himself to me while also calling my deceased name.
"How? " I probed again, startled that he was also aware of my deceased name.
"Don't worry, Ms. Damore, your grandmother, Madam Lylah Irita Damore, has told me about your deceased and current names," he said "But don't worry, I will never tell anyone about it because I made a promise your grandmother and grandfather that I will be loyal to them while also serving my loyalty as a payment for their kindness that they have shown to me," the old man made clear, trying to assure me that he would not tell anybody about my past.
I examine the elderly man's face to see if he is making things up or not, but I can tell he is not lying and is honest in his claims, so I chose to believe him.
"Did my grandmother tell you about my mission?" " I questioned the old guy about the assignment that Grandmother had assigned to me and how much he knew about it.
"Yes, Madam Damore has discussed the entire assignment you needed to do for the sake of your grandfather's dying request," the old man answered.
"So, whom shall I kill?" " I questioned the elderly guy directly, expecting he'd tell me.
"You'll learn about it tomorrow, Ms. Damore," the elderly guy said, without revealing who I should murder.
Why can't they just tell me who it was? that I can be prepared to confront that guy, this is gradually growing suspicious. I return my gaze to the old man who is still standing in front of me, smiling softly. Whatever it is, I simply need to get rid of it as soon as possible without knowing who is who.
"So, Mr. Xander, how should I address you?" " I asked him how I should call the elderly gentleman.
"You may refer to me as Mr. Cat for short Miss," he answered.
I nodded in response to his answer. "Okay, Mr. Cat, let's work together for a year or less, and great working at you," I remarked to Mr. Cat.
"Let's give it our all," I added, extending my right hand in front of him.
"All right, Miss," Mr. Cat agreed, and offered his hand for a handshake to clinch the agreement.
After that, we went inside to our apartment, where I relaxed and began to prepare for the upcoming task. It's been a long time since I've been in action, so I should prepare properly to avoid failing the operation that was assigned to me, just as I failed my last assignment due to meaningless feelings before my old self decided to stop my profession by fabricating my death.
Now that I think about it, how was that guy at the moment? It's been 17 years since I've left, and I hope he's doing well with his wife- my heart tightens when I think about the woman he married while I was gone, but I can blame him because the way I left him all of a sudden will make that guy hate me and forget that I still exist...argh but I just shake my head and go back to preparing.
"This is not the time to think about that person," I reminded myself, returning my attention to the work at hand.
Yes, I can't deal with the past any more, since everything in the past must be erased permanently.
Dhruv's Pov
"Ruv, you need a secretary," Lionel Oz Fawz stated to me.
I didn't glance up at him and continued reading the papers. "Why would I need a secretary?" I wondered.
"I'm Perfectly all right without one," I replied solemnly.
I heard him sigh in front of me as he walked around my office, "I mean Dhruv Ugo Mace, is this how you call a billionaire's workplace?" He was perplexed.
" There was so much rubbish and grime everywhere!" He grumbled further, "This is why your staff merely place the paperwork you need outside the door," Lionel observed as he looked around my office.
"Whatever, why are you here if you're only going to whine about the cleanliness of the office?" I remarked sharply to him "Just leave me alone," I grumbled, urging him to leave my office if he was only there to complain.
"How would your wife, Isolabella, respond if her husband's office resembled a garba-"
"She's not my wife!" I exclaimed angrily at Lionel, staring him up and interrupting what he was saying.
"What are you saying, Ruv? She's your wife!" Lionel replied, shocked, and looked back at my face, as if I was insane to say it.
I paused what I was doing and leaned back in my chair, staring at the ceiling. "No, she is not my wife, and in the first place, we are not married," I said to Lionel.
"I only have one wife, and her name is Ranie," I said softly.
"Nisha? But she's already died, so why are you still fixated on the lady who deceived and abandoned you, Ruv? " Lionel was concerned with me.
She didn't betray or abandon me; I know Ranie had a solid reason for leaving me that night, and I also know Nisha is alive, not dead. "She's alive," I declared confidently, still staring at the ceiling.
"Jesus Christ Ruv, wake up, she's dead, and that's the end of it! Why is your mind unable to accept that fact? " Lionel scolded me angrily.
"Because she is still alive," I continue to insist.
When Lionel came in front of me, he grabbed my shirt and forced me to face him, saying, "SHE IS DEAD DHRUV! " Lionel yelled at me, enraged, forcing me to realize the reality.
I could see how upset Lionel was, but I just kept my blank face as I gazed at him. "Whatever you say, I will believe that she is still alive," I responded firmly again.
"Why do you keep thinking she's alive, Ruv? Why can't you accept that lady is no longer alive, despite the fact that you already have a wife and kids? " Lionel questioned again, this time in a befuddled tone, as he explained things to me.
I chuckled at what he said about having children with the woman he said was my wife. "Seriously Lionel, do you believe that bitch lie? Because if that's the case, you're a dumbass," I mocked him.
"What do you mean they aren't your relatives, Ruv? Why deny your children and your wife? Is that how insane you've become as a result of the lady who abandoned you? " Lionel questioned once more, horrified at how insane I had become for the lady who had abandoned me.
I gave him a crazy smile and responded, "Because they're not my family to begin with.
Lionel pushed me back into my chair as he let go of my shirt and walked away from me, who messed up his hair in irritation. "God, I don't know if you're insane or a bastard who can't take responsibility, Ruv," he muttered.
"Why do you have hesitations about what you believed in?" I wondered.
Lionel returned my gaze with uncertainties in his eyes, and I just grinned back, "Now you're confused? Poor you," I mocked him, realizing he was having doubts about what he had believed. "So, Lionel, who are you going to trust, your long-time buddy who you believe has gone nuts or a lady who is a bitch and already has past issues?" " I seriously asked him to pick between me and that b*tch.
"I think you should pick our beloved buddy Lof, and you are correct, he needs a secretary or just a maid to clean the mess on his office, this doesn't seem like a billionaire's office anymore," Shmue Izik Flammia said abruptly, causing both of us to glance where he was standing.
"Oh my God, Shmue, you too?" " Lionel exclaimed, stunned.
"Of course, I always stand with my client who promised me large money," Shmue said, making the money gesture with his fingers.
"Wait, you're investigating Nisha?! ' Lionel questioned again, shocked.
"Yep, to be specific, we have been investigating Nisha's death and Nyx for the past 17 years," Shmue grinned as he informed to Lionel.
"Wait, what nyx is that the legendary assassin who murdered many people 17 years ago unexpectedly vanished-" Lionel didn't continue his statement as he grasped it.
"Exactly what piqued our interest, why they vanished / died at the same time, and yes, we too assume it's simply coincidence, but all the information of how Ranie died doesn't line up," Shmue continued as he went into detective mode.
"What exactly do you mean?" " Lionel murmured, perplexed.
"They vanished / killed in the fire," Shmue said solemnly as he glanced at Lionel, whose eyes had widened in horror at what he had heard.
"Do you believe me now?" I questioned.
Both Ranie and Nyx perished in the same fire 17 years ago in different locations, and both bodies have been recognized, but what made me suspect is that both incidents are linked to the same case I was working on while I was still a cop.
Nisha's POV
The next day, I got up early to prepare for the assignment. I'll be dressing up as a secretly recruited secretary by the boss's family, because the person I'm going to assassinate despises having a secretary. I'm not sure why, but that's what Mr. Cat told me last night when I asked him what my cover would be.
After a few hours of making preparations for my cover as a secretary, I look in the big mirror in front of me to see if what I'm wearing is appropriate and if I look like a real secretary. To be honest, I wasn't having any trouble because I've been a secretary many times before, so it was easy for me to act out the role.
"Perfect," I thought to myself as I beamed in the mirror.
'Knock knock'
When I heard a noise on my door, I snapped back to reality and began cleaning up the mess I had created on my table and rearranging all of the makeup I had used.
"Who is it?" I asked at the same time.
"It's Mr. Cat, Miss," Mr. Cat responded.
"Oh, Mr. Cat, please come in," I said, motioning for Mr. Cat to enter my room.
"No, Miss, it's okay, I'm here to tell you breakfast is ready downstairs," Mr. Cat stated.
"Oh alright, thank you Mr. Cat, I'll be down in a minute, I'm just arranging my stuff," I answered Mr. Cat, still arranging my makeup.
"All right, Miss," Mr. Cat said, and then he was gone.
After Mr. Cat had left, I had already completed organizing the make-up that I had used into its proper places, so I rose up from my chair and checked the mirror in front of me to see whether everything was okay. When I was finally pleased with what I saw in the mirror, I smiled and grabbed my purse, which I would use as a prop, and gently proceeded towards my door to open it. I exit my room and shut the door, then proceed to the breakfast area, where I notice Mr. Cat standing in front of the dishes which he had cooked for me.
"Why did you cook so many different foods, Mr. Cat?" " I was both shocked and bewildered when I asked Mr. Cat this question.
"Oh, your grandma has advised me to give you a variety of foods so that you would feel empowered when you confront the person you are about to slay," Mr. Cat stated naively to me.
Grandmother! I mean, I appreciate it, but this is a lot of food; I won't be able to consume it all this morning. I didn't say anything and just sat in the chair, beginning to eat my breakfast.
When I finished my breakfast, I realized that I hadn't finished the foods that Mr. Cat had cooked for me, and I apologized to him for not finishing it all. Mr. Cat suddenly thrusts a white folder in front of me, which I accepted and stared at Mr. Cat in wonder, "What is this, Mr. Cat?" I inquired.
"This is the information for the firm where you would be working for a year, Miss, Madam told me to hand it to you," Mr. Cat informed.
"Okay thank you Mr. Cat, I'll read this on my way to the workplace and also thank you for the meals that you have cooked for me," I said, looking at the folder I was holding.
"You're welcome, Miss," Mr. Cat said, beaming at me.
I placed the folder in the handbag that I would be taking and stood up so that I could leave for work right away. I turn to face Mr. Cat, who was beginning to wipe the table.
"Mr. How do I look, Cat? " I questioned about his thoughts on my appearance today.
"You look lovely, Miss," Mr. Cat said honestly to me as he gazed at me.
I can tell that Mr. Cat is not lying, which made me pleased. "Thank you, Mr. Cat, and best of luck to me today!" I replied him.
"Don't worry Miss, I know you can do it," Mr. Cat said, confident in my abilities.
When I heard Mr. Cat trusting that I could do it properly, I felt a little shy. "I am not so good Mr. Cat, don't trust my talents too much," I said to Mr. Cat.
"Don't think like that, Miss; I know you'll do well," Mr. Cat reassured me.
I have no choice but to take Mr. Cat's boosting; after all, I do need it because it's been a long time since I've been in a major assignment like this one, and it's making me think negatively.
"Really appreciate that, Mr. Cat," I said again, grins at him.
After double-checking that I had everything I needed in my bag, I said my goodbyes to Mr. Cat and went outside to hail a taxi. I didn't have to wait long because there was a taxi passing by that was unoccupied, so I waved to it and the taxi stopped in front of me, I quickly stepped inside the taxi, and I gave the taxi the address of the company where I will be working starting today.
While still in the taxi, I took out the white folder that Mr. Cat had given me, opened it, and began reading all of the information that was inside. So, the company's name is You Create IT, and it is well known for creating children's toys. This company is very intriguing; they have an excellent sales and marketing strategy, and they are well-versed in the latest children's toys. As I reached the last page of the information, I was unsettled as to why the CEO of the company, whom I needed to assassinate, was not stated, and what's more disturbing, based on what I'd read thus far, the company didn't do anything wrong? Or I really need to find out what their hidden flaw is first.
"Ma'am, we've already arrived," the Cab driver notified me.
It took me out of my thoughts and made me look out the window, where I saw the entrance of the company and turned away my focus outside to reach for my bag, where I searched for my wallet and paid the Taxi driver the fare. As soon as I step out of the taxi, I look around and see many employees going in and out of the building, minding their own business for the day.
"Let's do it, Self!" " I told myself, boosting my self-esteem.
As I began to walk towards the company's entrance, I felt a vibration inside my bag and searched for it; it was my phone, and someone had left a message for me. I clicked the message it came from Grandmother wishing me a good luck in my mission with heart emoji and saying that the kids are okay, they are enjoying their bonding together. It made me smile because on the end of the message there was a picture of them three taking selfie with happy faces.
"Damn they're making me jealous, just wait, I'll finish this quickly and go home," I grumbled to myself, while also promising to finish this mission quickly.
I quickly send out a message back to grandmother and returned the phone to my bag, continuing to make my way to the company's entrance, gaining more energy to complete this mission quickly.
"Excuse me, I am the newly hired secretary at this firm," I informed the company's front desk when I eventually entered the facility.
"Are you Ms. Nisha Ebony Damore?" " The front desk officer inquired if I was the person in question.
In response to her question, I affirmed, "Yes, I am her."
"All right, you may continue to the fifth level, which is where the President's Office is located," the front desk officer stated, giving me instructions to the office.
When I finished speaking with the front desk officer, I walked toward the elevator, avoiding collisions with the workers who were wandering about. When I reached in front of the elevator, I hit the up button and waited for the elevator to come.
Dhruv's Pov
While I was in my office today, I decided to drink wine to clear my mind of the thoughts that had been bothering me since yesterday after we explained our suspicions about the fake death of Ranie, my old partner when I was still a cop and also my girlfriend, and our connection to Nyx, the legendary assassin who only kills people without hesitation.
The fact that they perished at the same time and night, as well as the fact that they both died in a fire, is another reason why we feel their deaths are related.
** YESTERDAY'S CONVERSATION FLASHBACK**
"Yes, I see both of your points; both persons died on the same night and at the same time, but they are not the same people for Christ's sake!" Lionel argued is still skeptical.
"Ha! What if they're the same person, Lof? Would you believe it? Lionel was mocked by Shmue
When he heard what Shmue stated, Lionel's eyes widened. "Are you insane? Why would they be the same person? That's not possible! And it will only happen in movies! " he told Shmue that his proposition was unfeasible.
"Well, it's only a notion, but you're right, that's impossible," Shmue agreed with Lionel.
"I'm still dumbfounded as to why you assume Nisha is still alive, and why you link it to the famed assassin Nyx?! " Lionel inquired once more for clarification, since he was still bewildered.
Shmue cleared his throat, preparing to convey the notions we suspected again, and smiled in detective mood as he began to speak "All right, remember Nisha leaving our friend Dhruv on the night they were together because someone called her the so-called Nyx was spotted in an abandoned building, Ranie was so focused on arresting that assassin who killed many people without mercy, especially the very last victim," Shmue began to explain.
"All right, go on," Lionel says, allowing Shmue to continue speaking.
"On that night, our dear friend received a call from Ranie telling him about Nyx not being the suspect of the last victim that the real criminal was another person and Nyx was framed and on the other side of the phone Dhruv heard someone screaming the name of Nyx in the background which was cut off instantly and so our dear friend run through the destination where is Nisha but it was already burning really hard that no one can go in anymore," Shmue continued.
"And I'm still puzzled," Lionel said.
"Wait a minute, I still haven't told you the greatest part!" "Shmue told Lionel to wait for the best part.
"Okay"
"The next day, the news also flashed the death of Nyx who was also murdered by fire in an abandoned building the same as Nisha, both corpses were unidentifiable so the family Ranie instantly cremated the body of Nisha and the body of Nyx without having thorough autopsy to both bodies," Shmue added.
"Well, I understand the sentiments of Nisha's family, but in the case of Nyx, I think it's a good idea that the corpse wasn't autopsied," Lionel remarked
"First and foremost, Lionel, keep your criticisms to yourself since I am still not finished!" " Shmue chastised Lionel for making remarks.
"Fine, Mr. Detective," Lionel retorted smugly.
"Anyway, following the crimination of both corpses, there were reports circulating that the remains were not Nyx and Nisha's bodies, but rather the body of a different individual! Some of the personal possessions of both deceased corpses were not located at the location of their deaths, which raised the suspicions of our good buddy and me after hearing that news." Shmue eventually stated why they believed Nisha was still alive.
"Did you trust those unsubstantiated rumors? What if they aren't correct? You're wasting your time and effort," Lionel remarked, still not believing us.
"Ha! "I know you're going to say that, so I prepared these documents for you to read about how I researched the rumours you said weren't real." Shmue gave Lionel a large folder, which he quickly opened and read.
After reading all of the documents in the folder, Lionel just sighed and placed the file on the table, looking at me with eyes that couldn't believe what he had read. "Basically, your assumption is that both Ranie and Nyx are alive somewhere after they escaped to whoever wants them killed? " After viewing the papers, Lionel came to a decision.
"Exactly! " Shmue responded enthusiastically.
"But why have they been hidden for 17 years? When they could merely expose themselves 17 years ago if they are really alive?" Lionel wondered again.
"Yes, it is also my question," I murmured, speaking for the first time in hushed tones.
"It's either they're gathering evidence like us, or they're worried that if they expose themselves, someone important to them would be put in jeopardy," Shmue remarked, explaining why they still didn't show up.
We went silent after hearing Shmue's words, wondering why they hadn't shown up even if they were still alive.
Why leave me Nisha?
**FLASHBACK END**
I can feel a headache growing in my brain as I recall the talk we had, which left more questions unanswered, so I closed both of my eyes to keep the headache from spreading throughout my head.
Nisha's Pov
After exiting the elevator, I proceeded to the president's room, which was the lone office on the fifth level, as informed to me by the front desk. While heading into the office, I was mentally preparing myself for how I would act in front of the president and how I would murder him instantaneously without giving anybody the impression that I had killed him/her. When I eventually reached the front of the office's enormous brown door, I knocked three times but no one replied, so I decided to go inside.
As I went inside, the first thing I noticed was how the room smelled horrible, as if I were at a dumping site, and how the area was full of rubbish everywhere as I made my way inside the office. Is this still a workplace? I softly remarked to myself, "This seems like a garbage dumping site."
As I proceeded to stroll around the workplace, a large table came into view, and I noticed someone asleep on a chair, and as I smiled, an idea occurred to me. I prepared the handgun that I gently took from my purse and positioned it as I approached the table, but I came to a standstill when I saw who was in front of me.
This can't be....
"Dum? " I silently whispered to myself, using the nickname I used to call him, while dropping my arm and looking at my former boyfriend, colleague, and enemy Dhruv Ugo Mace, who was sleeping sweetly.
