Genre: Romance
"Athalia! Are you still a virgin?" asked Mahesa. "I will make sure your brother gets the treatment he needs to recover, but you must be my bedmate for a month." A dark past had made Mahesa a man very suspicious of love. That's why he often looked down on women. But Athalia comes with all the sincerity she can muster. Will Athalia be able to convince Mahesa that love is real?

Chapter 1 Are You still a Virgin

"Athalia. Are you still a virgin?" Mahesa asked. The question stunned Athalia's body.

"Why are you asking me that?"

"I'll make sure your sister gets treatment until she's cured, but you have to be my bedmate for a month," he said, causing Athalia's eyes to widen immediately. She had not expected Mahesa to make such an offer.

Mahesa is the perfect physical embodiment of a man. His face was handsome and stern, and his gray eyes could always captivate anyone. Athalia, who had only been with Anderson's company for a year, was no exception.

Every week, Athalia saw top models take turns coming into Mahesa's office. Their goal, of course, was to get a date. Athalia was not surprised.

Mahesa, with his handsome face and wealth, can attract high-class women to his bed if he chooses. Just by looking at his handsome face, women would be captivated in an instant. Perhaps Athalia was the only one in the office who wasn't interested in Mahesa.

Today, Athalia ventured into Mahesa's office and bowed before him to borrow money. Athalia also said that the money would be used for a transplant for her sister, who suffers from leukemia.

But it was Mahesa's sassy reply that made Athalia's face turn red.

"You are my boss. And I know that with your money, you can spend time with any woman you want. But I'm not that kind of woman! You think you can just lure a poor woman like me into your bed? That will never happen, sir!" she said through gritted teeth.

"Why not? I've been used to getting what I want since I was a kid. I don't want to insult you, but you suddenly came to my office and borrowed money from me even though you haven't worked in this company for a year. Do you think I'm your uncle to whom you can just lend money?"

"I am giving you my best offer. You need my money, and I want your virginity and service for one month. If you agree, I'll give you the money for free. I'll even pay for your sister's treatment until she's cured. Think about it, Athalia. My offer is very attractive, isn't it?" Mahesa's lips twitched in a mocking smile.

"You are very cunning, sir. I've never met an asshole like you," Athalia whispered.

Mahesa shrugged indifferently. "That's the way I am, Athalia," his lips curled into a thin grin.

"I know you're a rich man, but you can patronize not all women. I'm not willing to give my honor to an arrogant man like you." Athalia's eyes stared intently into Mahesa's gray ones.

Athalia's hopes were dashed. She thought Mahesa would feel compassion and be kind enough to lend her money for her sister's medical expenses.

But Mahesa was not as kind as she thought. Instead, the man asked for the very thing Athalia had guarded all her life. How could Athalia give her honor to Mahesa?

Mahesa laughed and shook his chair slightly.

"Are you sure you are not interested in my offer?" challenged Mahesa. "And next time, I may not make you the same offer. I'm just being generous today."

"I was wrong to borrow money from you, sir. I retract my decision. Forgive me!" Athalia held back her anger and was about to turn around when Mahesa spoke first.

"Then I will fire you today!"

Athalia was surprised to hear Mahesa's words.

Fired? What had she done wrong for Mahesa to fire her?

"Why did you fire me?" Athalia asked quietly.

"You dared to reject me, and I am the person who hates rejection the most!" He told Athalia.

"You are so unfair! In the year I've been working for this company, I've never made a mistake. And now you're firing me for the most absurd reason? Where is your conscience, sir?"

"I really don't have a heart. It's useless for you to seek sympathy for me. I told you before, I'm used to getting what I want." Mahesa pushed back his chair and rose to her feet.

Her expensive shoes tapped on the floor, surrounding Athalia's stiff body.

"I can find a thousand women who are much more beautiful than you. You're nothing compared to them. I'm sure you've seen the women who come to my office every week. Their bodies are better than your skinny body. It's just that I think it would be really interesting if I tried something new. I wonder what it would be like to make love to a mediocre woman like you, Athalia." Mahesa's footsteps stopped in front of Athalia.

Standing face to face with Mahesa, Athalia felt even more intimidated by the man's large body.

Mahesa raised her hand to stroke Athalia's left cheek, but failed when Athalia immediately turned her face away.

Seeing Athalia's face turn red with annoyance, Mahesa's lips curled into a triumphant smile.

His broad hands reached for the check, wrote the amount on it, and signed it.

"Take this check if you accept my offer." Mahesa handed the check to Athalia.

"Be my bedmate for one month, and this money will be yours. But if you refuse, get out of here and never set foot in my company again!" Mahesa said with a grin.

"You have only two choices, Athalia. Accept my offer and save your sister, or I will fire you and your sister will not be saved!"

Athalia swallowed hard. She desperately needed the money for Yasna - her sick sister. But did she have to give up her honor to Mahesa?

Like her mother's advice. A woman's honor is like a crown. Athalia must protect it and then give it to her future husband. Not to the man in front of her, who was staring at her with a smile of contempt.

Athalia glared back, her eyes betraying suppressed anger.

Her slender hand snatched the check from Mahesa's hand, making Mahesa smile with satisfaction, thinking Athalia would accept his offer.

However, Mahesa was surprised to see what Athalia was doing in front of him. Athalia tore up the check and threw it in Mahesa's face.

"Even if you ask me a thousand times, my answer will remain the same. I'm not willing to surrender my honor to a man like you. If I am released today, I will leave. And I swear I will never set foot in this company again!" Athalia said boldly.

Chapter 2 Accepted His Offer

Her bravery made Mahesa gasp. In all of Mahesa's life, it was the first time he had ever been yelled at by a poor woman like Athalia.

Now Athalia turned and stormed out of Mahesa's office. Mahesa's gray eyes continued to scan the woman's back until she was completely out of sight.

"Very interesting. This is the first time I've seen a woman refuse such a large sum of money." Mahesa smiled faintly.

Frankly, there was a small admiration in his heart for Athalia's attitude, still insisting on maintaining her honor and refusing Mahesa's tempting offer.

Considering the fact that top actresses and models were actually trying to get close to him. Of course, they were smitten by Mahesa's handsome and charismatic looks. But even more so by his immense wealth.

"But aren't all women the same? I'm sure Athalia will come back to me in a day or two to accept my offer," he murmured with a wry smile.

Resigned, Athalia left to leave everything to God. Perhaps tomorrow she would get a loan from someone else.

But when she returned home, Athalia received bad news. Her sister had been taken to the hospital.

"Before things get worse, the transplant should be done right away. We cannot guarantee a cure, but for most cases of this type of leukemia, there is a greater chance of recovery after a spinal cord transplant. Yasna's damaged spinal cord needs to be replaced with a healthy one that matches her". Dr. Andri explained what Athalia had known for the past few days.

It was the second time Dr. Andri had told Athalia this.

Athalia knew about Yasna's condition, which required a transplant. But she didn't know where to find the money.

As for the donor, Doctor Andri said that the most likely match would be her mother. But a compatibility test would have to be done first.

"I know it is difficult, Athalia. The costs are enormous. I understand your family's economic situation. As a doctor, I must tell you what is best for Yasna's recovery."

Athalia nodded and smiled bitterly. Yasna's condition was getting worse. What could she do for her sister?

I am unemployed. All the money in my purse is gone today, and Yasna needs it badly. What should I do now? Athalia thought.

Now she was leaving Dr. Andri's room. Athalia stood with her back to the wall, her eyes staring sadly ahead as her mind raced with many thoughts.

Suddenly, Mahesa's words rang in her ears again.

'You have only two choices, Athalia. Accept my offer and save your sister, or I'll release you and your sister will not be saved.'

There was a feeling of regret in her heart, why did she have to be in such a difficult situation? If she accepted Mahesa's offer, Yasna's chances of recovery were very high. But she also had to make a great sacrifice. Athalia would have to give up her virginity to Mahesa and become the man's bedmate for a month.

"But if I refuse, where will I find the money for Yasna's transplant?" she sighed wearily.

A small sigh escaped her tiny lips. Athalia had told Mahesa that she would never set foot in his company again.

Then her mind wandered to Yasna's condition, which would likely worsen if nothing was done immediately.

No! Athalia could not lose Yasna.

***

Mahesa was hard at work this morning.

The handsome man lifted his head from the file he was signing when he heard a knock at the door, and the door opened as he invited him in.

"Athalia?!" Mahesa's eyes narrowed at the sight of Athalia entering with a downcast face. The resigned look on the woman's face made a corner of Mahesa's lip curl.

Athalia came? Wasn't she released? Mahesa smiled wryly. He had already guessed what Athalia's intention was to come to his office.

"Yesterday you said you would never set foot in my company again, but now you come. Hilarious, Athalia. Turns out a brave woman like you is good at pulling her own strings." Mahesa put the pen he had been holding down on the table.

"Are you going to talk or just keep quiet? Say it, Athalia! I have little time to wait for you to open your mouth," Mahesa urged.

Athalia quickly took a deep breath, let it out roughly before closing her eyes and saying.

"I accept your offer of yesterday, sir."

Though he had suspected it, Mahesa was still surprised. His eyes grew sharper as he watched Athalia's lower lip quiver slightly, then his gaze dropped to her hands clenched in tight fists.

"What offer did I make? I don't remember." Mahesa deliberately toyed with Athalia, causing her to open her eyes wide and stare at Mahesa in disbelief.

"Answer me Athalia! What offer did I make you?"

"An offer that says it will pay for my sister's entire medical treatment until she is cured, and I have to pay for it by being your bedmate for a month."

Now a wry smile was clearly visible on Mahesa's lips. Athalia held back the tightening in her chest.

"Like I said, I'm used to getting what I want, Athalia." Mahesa rose to his feet.

Athalia's body shrank every time Mahesa's long legs approached her.

Mahesa sat on the edge of the table directly in front of Athalia, his arms folded across his chest as his eyes scanned the woman's body from top to bottom. It made Athalia hold her breath for all she was worth. Mahesa's gaze was so patronizing.

"I have already accepted your offer. And I don't want to argue anymore. It's up to you what you think of me. I just want to ask for the money. My sister really needs it right now."

"Didn't I hear you wrong? You want to ask for your fee when you haven't given me what I deserve." Mahesa raised an eyebrow.

Then Mahesa walked around Athalia's body. The tapping of the expensive shoes could be heard again, disturbing Athalia's restless heart.

Mahesa placed a hand on Athalia's chin and pulled her forward until their eyes met again.

Athalia swallowed. Their chests were so close together that Athalia had to hold her breath.

"I'm not giving you any money until you do your job," Mahesa whispered. His breath was warm on the surface of Athalia's face.

Chapter 3 Going to Mahesa's Apartment

"You accepted my offer to get the money, right? You want me to pay for your sister's entire treatment until she's completely cured? You want the money as soon as possible?" Mahesa asked Athalia.

Athalia shivered slightly as Mahesa's broad palm dug into her hair, stroking it in a gentle motion before finally tucking the strands behind her ear.

But Athalia's head inevitably nodded in response.

"My sister is going to need a transplant soon. She doesn't have much time." Athalia's voice trembled slightly as she said this.

Her shoulders squeaked to avoid the touch of Mahesa's hand as it tried to stroke her slender neck. It felt ticklish and strange to Athalia, who had never felt a grown man's touch before.

Mahesa smiled victoriously. "Very well. You seem very impatient to be sighing on my bed," He teased, causing Athalia to snort and look away.

Smirking slightly, Mahesa scanned Athalia's innocent face. A face that was rarely covered in thick makeup, but still showed a unique beauty.

His hand pulled a card from her wallet and handed it to Athalia.

"This is my business card. It has the address of my apartment on it. If you want to get everything done as soon as possible, come tonight. Starting tonight, you can work as my roommate," Mahesa said.

Athalia accepted the card with trembling hands. Even though her little heart was very much against what she was about to decide. But Athalia had to do it for Yasna.

Her eyes lingered on the business card Mahesa had handed her. Suddenly, Athalia swallowed hard, her mind wondering what was going to happen to her tonight.

"Why do you look so nervous? Once you decide, you can never take it back." Mahesa's eyes scanned the fear on Athalia's face.

"For an entire month, your body is mine. And your job is to warm my bed," Mahesa whispered, stroking Athalia's slender neck with feathery movements. It made Athalia close her eyes for a moment.

She wanted to pull away, but she couldn't.

The man's breath on the skin of her cheek made Athalia shiver.

"Then... what about my job? Will I still be fired?"

Mahesa laughed softly.

"If I fire you, who will satisfy my desires while I am in the office? I am not paying you just to be on display in my apartment, but to serve me whenever and wherever I want."

Athalia was a bit taken aback.

Wherever and whenever did he say? What if Mahesa asked for her at an unexpected place and time?

"Are my words clear enough for you to understand, Athalia? Do you know what I mean?"

Athalia nodded slowly. The good news was that she would not be released. But the bad news was that it was not impossible that Mahesa would summon her to the man's office at any time, just to satisfy his wild, horse-like desires.

"I understand."

"Good! Now go out and do your job as usual." A hand waved in front of Athalia.

Athalia was about to turn around when Mahesa sat back in his chair. But just as Athalia's hand was about to swing open the door, the baritone voice called out to her.

"Athalia!"

Athalia turned and stared with a questioning look.

"Yes, sir?"

Mahesa did not answer immediately. He seemed to clear his throat for a moment before speaking.

"When you come to my apartment tonight, wear a sexy dress!"

Athalia's eyes widened immediately.

***

"Athalia. Where are you going? Shouldn't you be putting on your makeup at this hour?"

Athalia spontaneously stopped applying lipstick in front of the mirror when her mother suddenly came and caught her in the room.

"Mom. I thought you slept with Yasna."

Narsih nodded, wiping her slightly sweaty brow as she approached Athalia, who was busy with the cheap makeup kit she had.

"Yasna is already asleep, but I'm not tired yet. It's very difficult for me to sleep tonight. Even though all you have to do is close your eyes. My heart feels like it's not at peace. It feels very restless. I don't feel well. I'm also confused. Why do I have this strange feeling?

Hearing this, Athalia froze where she stood. Her eyes stared wide at the mirror that reflected her own image.

Using the excuse that she was staying with a friend, Narsih finally allowed Athalia to leave the house tonight.

Unknown to Narsih, Athalia was actually going to Mahesa's apartment.

Athalia took a taxi and arrived at the door of her boss's apartment. Her hand hesitated as she rang the bell, then the door opened and Mahesa, still in his work shirt, stood over her.

"I thought you weren't coming," he said to Athalia, a satisfied smile on his lips.

"Come in, welcome to your new job," Mahesa teased, opening the door wider.

Athalia exhaled softly, feeling annoyed. But she stepped inside anyway. And Mahesa's eyes scanned Athalia's slender backside.

"Would you like a drink?" Mahesa was already sitting back on his couch, his hand raising the glass of champagne to Athalia.

"No. Thank you," she replied, looking away and rubbing her hands together.

Mahesa took a quick sip of his drink, his eyes still on Athalia's face.

"Sit down, Athalia. If you keep sitting, your blood pressure will drop." Mahesa nodded his chin toward the sofa across from her.

Athalia complied and sat down. Immediately, Athalia became more agitated.

The realization that they were alone in this apartment made Athalia swallow her saliva.

'Mahesa kept looking at me so intently. I knew I couldn't leave his tonight. For I had been his bedmate. Just one month, all this for one month. After that, I can be free of this man.'

Athalia tried to calm herself. But she could not hide the overwhelming fear she felt.

"Why do you look so nervous? Is it because this is your first time?"

"Take it easy, Athalia. I'm not a man who touches when she hurts. I will not hurt you when I do this. I'll make sure you like it. You might even become addicted to me," Mahesa smiled and took another sip of his drink.

Athalia drummed her fingers restlessly on her thighs, her stomach churning.

Mahesa placed the empty glass on the table, his eyes raised to stare at Athalia, who was already sweating coldly.
