Arnold And The Elvish Girl

The splash of water from the stream very close to the tree that she always hides to have a clear view of the human world, she have wonderfully designed the place and called it her second home though it was invisible to the eyes of a common man.

She waked up from her sweet sleep because of the noise coming from the stream. Previously, she have promised herself that she will be sleeping all through the night and day to restore the energy she have wasted just some days ago, jumping about the trees.

She tried so hard to concentrate on the dream she was having but the splash of waster and the noise from the guy swimming could not let her do that, she jumped off from the bed putting on one of her favorite gown before going up to the mirror to put on her make up and maybe wait for the boy to finish up with his swimming before she could go back to her sleep.

She knew she could get tired waiting inside the invisible house and maybe going down to the edge of the stream can help her reduce the stress and probably watch the boy as he swims, but she is afraid of what might happen, according to her, humans cannot be trusted, they hate anything that differs from them and she totally different from humans.

Her pointed ears, her blue eyes and her brightly colored hair could betray her.

Maybe she should try something else. She knew the guy can be very sincere and honest because she have watched him several days he have come there to swim.

"I have to give it a try!" She suggested to herself.

"First, I have to change into a new clothes, try a different make up, and I have to take my bow for self defense and I have to take this elixir for my accent to change and I have to expose my laps a bit small and my breast.....no way, he is a small human, he will not think a bit about that.

wow!! I'm okay. he won't know that I'm an elf, I have changed to a human and now is the time to meet a new face and if it works, it's going to change my life from being a lonely and abandoned Princess to been a hum...an, hope it works as planned".

She moved very swiftly, jumped from one tree to the other without making a sound, a little step to a big one till she came to the edge of the stream, hiding between the trees as she watch the handsome boy rather a man as he swim to the wave of the waters.

I could say that killing a human here will be very easy, just a single shot of an arrow from behind the tree and he dies.

I set my bow with an arrow toward him to shoot but I was cought off guard by his words.

"Hey pretty, do you intend to kill an unarmed man?; I never know he has noticed me before now, I put down my hands and wanted to go away from there but he pull himself out of the waters exposing how strong and handsome he is with his blond, "Hey why do you want to shoot me with that bow,?

I run off from there hoping he couldn't catch up but he was too fast as a human, I jumped to a tree to camouflage but I lost my balance and falls off from the tree but he caught me. He looked at me in the eyes as he smiles, I don't know what is funny but I have to go away from him before he realizes that I'm not a human, I slapped his face, he dropped me so hard on the ground making me to scream. He wanted to close my mouth with his hands but I never wanted that, I kicked him so hard but he pays no attention to this rather he pulled me to his body and jumped from the cliff.

We fall down with him ontop me. he keeps staring at me with his hands moving smoothly on my check,

"you are an elf, you look so beautiful"

I don't really know what he was up to, so I pushed him off my body. He gets up cleaning his bare body. I cannot stand up because my clothes is almost torn to rags, he looked at me and smiled again. " Beautiful elf, seems like you are a strong woman, you put your life at risk for coming out here everyday"

Everyday, this looks like he always see me anytime I come to the stream to cool off " I don't come here everyday,." he looks like he heard something as he bend over to where I was sitting with my hands wrapped around my knees. "I do see you Everytime I come here to bath; jumping from one tree to the other. And look, you tried to change your appearance today, hmmm it's very horrible because you looked like an old woman"

I was wondering if he was a human because I know that a normal human being can't see an elf and think twice before killing them. I looked very worried because I can't stand up duo to the condition of my dresses. " okay I know you are ashamed of standing up because of your cloth, stay here and wait for me.. don't move out unless you don't value your life because they're human at the other side of this place, just stay calm and wait"... I wanted to run off after he went out of the place but I can see other people coming down from the top of the hill, I have to wait and see what happens today. Some few minutes late, he came back to me fully dressed and had a blue gown on his hand. "wear this and I will take you to your home" I did as he said, he covered my head with a black vail and we walk with our hands held together, I didn't do this because I trust or like him, I did it because that is the only to make others not to suspect anything.

"My name is Arnold, I love been in the forest not because I'm a hunter but it's because I love it. now tell me why do you always like to come to the stream knowing that you might get killed?"

"The forest is my home, you humans are the one trespassing"

"Hmmmm, that is nice, what is your name?

" I'm home now, good bye.

"how are we going to see again?"

"I don't want to see you again"

"That's painful because I borrowed the cloth from someone"

"I will return them to the stream tomorrow"

I waved at him and camouflaged to the tree.

I came back looking so troubled about what has happened earlier, I could not sleep not even to eat. The image of Arnold and his smiles keeps haunting me so badly, I can feel his warm grips as we fell down from the cliff and the scent of his body and the hot breathe from his nose when we were close to each other.

His words takes the better part of me as I lay on my bed.

The night was just like a thousand years to me as I roll from one place to the other waiting for the sky to smile at the dark horizon but nothing happened. I closed my eyes for a while and just the moment I wanted to rest my body, a soft touch at my forehead waked me up. " Alena, wake up, its almost afternoon and you are still on bed, a princess should be up from bed as early as possible".

I felt dizzy and weak again and again as I stretches my body, I Walked to the balcony with the sun rays flashing very hard on my face, "Alena what is this human cloth doing in your room?, where did you get them?"

"Arnold!!!, oh no!"

"Arnold, who is Arnold?

I run back to my room taking the cloth from my mother and run off from the house, my mother was calling but I pretended like I'm not hearing her calls.

Easily and quietly I walked to the stream hoping to find Arnold but he wasn't there. I searched the whole area but I could not find him. I called him but he didn't answer. I was very angry with myself as I walk along the tiny road.

I heard a footsteps from behind me, I wanted to turn around but it's to late, the hand grabbed me so tight lifting me off the the ground to a dark trunk "shhhhhi, don't talk or shake" I remain silent as I watch the men of the village walk pass us.

"it's you again" I hit him on the chest fondly, "yeah it's me again, sorry to say that you look too slow to be an elf, why?"

I was ashamed to hear this from him but that is the truth, I have been too slow for the couple of days I have been thinking and seeing him. "maybe you are the reason why I have been too slow"

"I thought I won't see you here, that is why I didn't come here early today, so where is the dress, I need to take it back to the place I stole it from" I look at him as he smile and looks at me sheepishly, he steals the cloth just to get me dressed up, my heart beats more fast as he stretches his hands to touch me at the lips, he puts his hands down immediately and rolled the dress to his bag. "I'm sorry, I never wanted to make you feel bad okay, I have to be on my way now" he stands up avoiding my eyes. I wanted to touch him but my hands were shaking, I stand up watching him go, I forced my mouth up and shouted at him "Alena"

He looked back at me and smiled at me "see you again Alena" He waved at me and runs off and I went home happily.

I never know why the elves and humans see each other as an enemies but I have to know this before I put the life of my people in danger as a princess, my father or my mother haven't told me or my brother Aragon what causes the the hatred between us and the human, all we hear them say was that humans are full of greed and wickedness, they hate anything that differs from them.

You can't fight them and expect to win them because they are exalted above every living creatures on the universe, we have sophisticated weapons and armor that they have never known but you can't use it against them because they will defeat you with your own weapon.

I once believed that human being are full of greed and wickedness till I meet Arnold, though I just spent some days with him and I can't just trust him because they are full of deception but my heart tells me that I can trust him because of the way he behaves and on many occasions he has saved me from his fellow humans. It's very hard for an elf to develop a feeling or to be in a relationship with someone different from our blood circle but I'm beginning to feel like I have something to settle with Arnold and I believe he has something to share with me because of the way he looks at me anytime I'm with him.

I could have told my father and Mother about this but I'm afraid of what they might think of so I have to keep this to myself.

I walked towards the mirror admiring the new address my mother brought for me, it's a blue dress, with a strands of gold at the collar and at the edge, it's very revealing but I love it that way, I have to wear this to see Arnold and see his reaction, I stocked up my arrow sack with many arrows and with my bow on my hand, I had my golden heels on, having my whole body adorned with my silver and golden jewels.

I walked down the stairs which leads to the main hall of the palace, I can see so many people at the long table eating and drinking, this means that the elders of the seven kingdom of the elves has come to say thank you to my father for promising to sponsor all their soldiers with his resources due to the predicted war that could break out between humans, the elves and the dragon warriors in the future.

I take another route to avoid been called back by my father. I walked through the darkest part of the castle and immediately I came out of the dark tunnel, I bumped into my father's arms, I wanted to run but he called me back.

"Alena, what are you up to?, where are you going dressed up like this, you should be at the palace to welcome our guest"

"Your majesty, I want to go for hunting, it's so boring in here,"

he looked at me very close in the face and frown his face; "Alena you are full of surprises, you are the one that forbid hunting but now, you're going for it." He comes very close again brought his mouth to my ear, " Are you sure that you are not up to something that could end our lives dear princess?" Aragon interrupted him from behind as he taped his back, "your majesty, your presence is needed at the hall now," he looked back at Aragon and smiled, "okay my dear". He walked towards the stairs that leads to the hall and then stop and looked back at me .

"My dear, when going please let the guards follow you or rather go with your brother Aragon for the sake of safety and remember, human being are not to be trusted avoid them and be safe".

Aragon look at me and laughed so hard, "Alena, where are you going dressed like this?" I felt embarrassed with his hard laughter and turned to leave but he held me tight at the shoulder, I tried to take his hands off me but could not, "dear sister you need to tell me where you are going okay," I stared very hard at him but that doesn't bother him at all "Aragon let me be, I'm not going anywhere". "Alena, you can't tell me that and expect me to believe you when you have bow at your hand".

"okay, fine I'm going out to hunt,"

" you can't lie to me okay, you are going to see a human, I can't stop you from going, it's because you trust him that is why you're going there but you have to be careful once you step out there, now go before father comes out".

I left the house having double mind, I have been warned by my father not to go out and if anything happens he won't be happy with me.

I saw Arnold not very far from the place I was standing, he looked worried as he walked towards me, he looked at me trying to smile but could not, I noticed that he had a blood stain on his left hand, maybe he have sustained it during his hunting expedition.

Just as expected, his facial expressions changes immediately he saw my dress. He stares at me very awkwardly, his eyes run around me twice before he starts getting closer to me, I wanted to move away from him but his hands are already around my waist and he brought his face very close to mine and looked into my eyes, I was so afraid of him because I can feel his body shaking and his breath becoming more hot and noisy. He let go of my body immediately as if he has seen something strange in me.

He moved backwards with his face down on the floor covering it with his hands.

"I'm very sorry Alena, I never wanted to make you feel uncomfortable whenever you are with me but I can't control myself whenever I see your beautiful face and smooth body, I'm just sorry it won't happen again believe me."

It was hard thinking about how he always turn off immediately after looking into my eyes. Sometimes, I think he does that because I wasn't a human like him or their tradition forbid them mating with elves just like mine does but I never new he was trying not to betray my trust in him.

After this, we sat down with each other discussing, I just realized that Arnold was a harmless human being that talks alot and loves asking questions about things he really don't know about.

"Alena, they are things I really want to know about you and I will be very happy if you can tell me the truth" I looked at him with a mixed feeling, I know that he noticed this because of the way he moved his head.

"Alena you need to trust me very well okay, I'm very harmless and your secret can be more safe with me than you can imagine, I know that you've been told never to believe a human but sometimes, you need to try that one thing you have been told not to do because your happiness might be there"

"Arnold, why are you so friendly with me unlike your kind?"

"It's because...l love you so much, yes I know it might sound so weird to you but that is the truth."

His words sounded very crazy to my ears, I can't help but smile and laugh to it.

"Arnold you know it's very impossible to love me because of our differences, your love and mine are just like two straight lines that can never meet each other no matter their closeness" He used his hands to close my mouth, I felt his soft hands more that before, his closeness to me made me feel very much uncomfortable. He brought his face very close to me looking into my eyes, I thought he could back out soon but he pushed forward till his lips touches mine.

I felt like I was going deep into a cold hole as his soft tongue clicked to mine, I closed my eyes as he advanced more with his lips, I can see the sudden change at the environment because every tree around us became still as a green smoke wrapped around us, his eyes were closed to notice this. Just when I wanted more of his lips, he pulled off.

He looked at me passionately, licking his lips "You see, nothing happened, love knew no bond, there's no difference between us all... the difference is that elves knows how to use bows and arrows and humans knew how to use sword......and your lips taste good"

I couldn't help but laugh at him as he keeps licking his lips. "Arnold, that is not the taste of my lips, it's the taste of the make up I rubbed on them"

He frown his face for a moment, looking at me sheepishly, "well, the taste is good, I will like to have some if you have it here"

"no, its for Ladies only",

"Tell me, how did you go back home yesterday?, you just waved at me and disappeared to the air, how do you do that?

"I didn't disappear, I camouflaged, so that you can go then I go back home. My home is very deep inside the bamboo forest but its invincible to the eyes of a mortal human.

"I will come to see your family someday"

"don't try it Arnold, aren't you afraid?'

" I have done something worst than that, so I'm not afraid at all" I can see that the he is very mean and fearless and I'm very happy that I haven't showed him the place or even teach him the magic word to unlock the invincible gate.

"Alena when will you come to visit me?" This is very crazy to think about. "I can't visit you because my father won't allow me to and the fact that I trust you doesn't mean I can trust any of your family okay"

"okay but first, I don't have a family, I live alone at the cornfield very far from the village so there's nothing to be afraid of"

"very simple, it's because I'm an orphan and I have no relatives but I have a bunch of friends that comes around once in a while"

"Arnold, I have to go now, my father will be looking for me now,"

"okay, but when will you visit me then?" I looked at his innocent face as he smiles to me, I never wanted to give him a date because I know my father will never allow me to go out after today because I have disobeyed him.

"Arnold, I don't know but I will try to visit you in four days time from now and if I failed to come please don't be angry with me because my movement is sometimes restricted by my parent"

"seems like you are a princess"

I looked at him, he seems to be an intelligent person. He comes closer to me with his forehead pressing against mine, I thought he wanted to kiss me again, I closed my eyes but opened them again as I felt some of my necklace been removed from my neck.

"Alena I will keep this and you keep mine" he brought out a silver necklace and gave to me.

"No Arnold, the necklace is very special to me and my family please give it back to me"

"No I won't give it back, the one I gave you is my mother's own, she gave it to me before she died, she said that I should give it to the woman I will love to spend my life with and I think you are the one"

I smiled at him before jumping to the trees. "See you later Alena,.

Been a princess was never an easy thing, everything you do becomes something the kingdom forbids, your movement been restricted and watched, even a time to yourself becomes very hard. These thinking clouded my brain as I stroll toward the main door to the big hall. The way the guards are looking at me shows that I have gotten myself into trouble again, I run very fast towards the stair that leads to my room so that my father can't see me.

" Hi Alena, why are you running?" I never bothered because I know who the voice belongs to. I hurried to my room and lay on my bed still having my bow on my hand.

The voice comes again. I was startled this time because I thought my door was lock but I did not know that I was so busy to lock it.

"Princess Alena, I saw you running and I called but it seems like you didn't hear my voice, I followed up to know what is wrong"

Her name was Amaya, my personal help. she is very beautiful with her tensed dark skin. She looks very different from us all because of the color of her skin but I love her so much because of her wisdom and courage, very strong and a good warrior. she is the only person amongst all the maids that I loved very well.

I was very much afraid of what my father could do to me once he gets his eyes on me, I notice that Amaya was watching me through the mirror she was cleaning. I pretended to be sleeping immediately I saw her turn to me. "Princess Alena stop doing that, I know that you are not sleeping, please stand up we need to talk"

She sat at a chair very close to my bed, I never wanted to talk but she dropped a word that got me to my feet "your father the king wants to see you"

Fear gripped me as I stood up from the bed, my heart beats faster than I can imagine.

"Relax please, I'm just joking. Your father didn't know that you stayed long"

I looked at her, she smiled at me as she raised my hands to take off my jewels.

"Amaya please don't play such joke with me again, I almost died here"

She stares at me, her deep blue eyes appears to be more beautiful this time "Alena, there's another news that will come to you very soon"

She took all the jewelry to the box "where do you get this this medal from?, it looks different from ours and your gold necklace is not complete" I was very much tired and never wanted to talk much about what happened

" Amaya just drop those stuff and leave, I just want a peace of mind before I got called up by my mum"

She sat very close to me now holding my hands up to her lips, I wasn't bothered because she is use to these act but looking at her face, you could tell that she has something in her mind

"Amaya you don't look normal, do you have anything to tell me?" She smiled at me then stands to her feet walking around the chair she sat before.

"Alena your beauty have attracted Prince Alexis of the sixth kingdom of the Elves, he wants to marry you"

I knew that this type of news will come up one day so I'm not so surprised about it especially now that the rumors of war is coming up. Alexis is very handsome I admit that but I don't think I'll be able to take him as a husband because I have promised myself not to marry to a royal family. I just wanted to be free from all these protections, I just want to have myself.

"My princess what do you say about this?" I can see that Amaya was very happy and I don't intend to break her happiness.

"Well Amaya I don't have anything to say now till Alexis comes to me and profess his love to me"

I stood up to pull my clothes, I blink to Amaya to leave but she wasn't bothered "Alena you know he can't be able to come to you because of how things is slated in our culture"

" Amaya I hate to tell you this but you're troubling my soul, just go and prepare yourself and meet me at the garden; I have a lot to tell you there and as for Alexis, he knows what to do if he wants to marry me".

I never wanted to waste much of my time at the bathroom because the whole house will be filled up very soon. Blue dresses has been my favourite ever since I grow up and my mother knows that but this evening, I was so angry about the new gown Amaya brought to me, a brown type of dress that looks very heavy and lavishly adorn with all types of jem. "Amaya where did you get this from?" She stood at the door looking very confused "Her Majesty asked you to wear this" I couldn't say anything but look at the shinny dress " how could she tell me to wear this when she knows that I don't like things like this"

"Alena I tried to tell her that but she said that you have to give it a try because Alexis will be coming to see you tonight and you have to look good"

For the very first time I lost control of my anger, I wanted to go to her for confrontation, how could they hold this stuff at my back. Assuming Amaya didn't tell me this, I couldn't have known that a suitor will be coming to see me.

"Amaya is the princess ready? Alexis and his parent are here" it was the voice my mother, I open the door for her to come in, she can see that I'm very much angry. She sat at the chair close to the mirror.

"Mother why didn't you tell me that Alexis is coming to see me?, mother why..you shouldn't have done this to me. What if I decide not to go out, will you force me?"

She stood and placed her hands on my shoulders and pecked me smoothly. "My daughter I'm very sorry for that.. please dress up. They are here please I will make it up to you once they are out okay"

Well I have no choice but to dance to the sound of my mother's voice. I got dressed up and stormed out of the room in anger. I forced myself to smile but nothing was working. At the stairs, the gown could not allow me to move freely as I struggle to get my feet on each of the steeps.

My shoe heel slipped off the stairs and I fall off but luckily enough, I feel unto the hand of a strongly build man.

He cought me up like I was an empty bag. I looked at him in the eyes and I was very surprised to see that he was Arnold, he looks more handsome than he was before with his beautiful smile.

I raised my hands and touched his smooth chin rubbing it, I tried to kiss him but then I blink and realized that I was just imagining. The person that cought me up wasn't Arnold rather it was Alexis, I hit him so hard asking him to drop me, he smiles and put me on the floor and then; I realize that both his parent and mine were there watching what happened, I felt very much ashamed of myself and wanted to run up but lost my steep again and falls very hard on the floor, Alexis offers his hand for help but I ignored him with my faced covered in tears.

"Amaya help her up and escort her into her room immediately" I didn't look up but I know it was the voice of my father.

Amaya came to me but was afraid to touch me because I'm crying already, Aragon came to me and picked me up like a little kid and goes to my room.

"Alexander please don't be angry at her, she is just a child, she couldn't hold the pressure of been in front of a man, just calm down okay"

I know my father is very angry but the pain that is burning Inside of me now is greater than his. I cried all through the time I stays inside my room. I just wish Arnold could come around me now because he is the only person I will like to talk to now but it can't happen.

I locked myself up and wished for nobody to come in, even though thousands of knock has been hitting my door but I played I was asleep. I can see the face of Arnold smiling at me singing a beautiful song to me I keep getting better till I slept off.
