Anita's Voice: Behind the Headlines

Chapter 1: All the way

"The angels shall be your guide as you embark on this wonderful journey darling. Nothing you seek will be difficult to get. Go well, you're not alone my dear." Grandma Walls blessed Anita as she accompanied her with the other family members to the car park.

"Thanks Grandma!"

"Sister I can wait to see you on the TV"

"Hope you won't forget to report about me!"

They teased Anita as they went.

Almost was moved to tears upon the idea that she would be leaving her family after so many years of living together.

"I will surely make you all proud of me!" she said, trying to dry of some tears.

"We are sure sister!"

"Here it is!"

A car that they had booked stopped at their front, waiting on Anita to enter.

Kissing them goodbye, she entered the car and it zoomed off. She was leaving Houston for good, she was sure.

After what seemed like forever, they left the park seeing as the car was no longer in sight.

Anita felt bad at first but when she got to some point, she felt grateful to be able to make this move.

As the car passed by, she enjoyed the view of the city.

She was heading to her dream city to pursue her dream career.

From a distance in the car, she could already spot the glitz and glamorous New York City.

Smiling, this was the beginning of her life's journey. She wasn't going to joke with it for even a bit.

New York City is the largest and most influential American metropolis, the most populous and the most international city in the country, going there was the best decision she could make for herself.

California

Andre sat on his chair in his study room, as he listened to a voice tape his assistant had just brought in.

"What do you expect? What makes you think I'm doing this for love? Hell no! I'm only getting in to get some cash. Once my mission is accomplished, I'm out!"

He then smiled, he was not surprised. This was typical of the girls in this city.

Placing his left hand on his jaw, he went into a deep thought. He needed a way out. He needed a wife to go into another level. He needed to get the inheritance but with a genuine person.

A thought then came into his mind. Picking up his phone, he dialed his assistant's phone number.

"Come see me now!" He said, hanging up the phone.

Picking up the glass of wine on his table, he made his way to the balcony.

Andre stood at the centre of the luxurious balcony, placed one hand into his pocket while he sipped his wine, having a beautiful view of the mesmerizing scenery.

He thought about what he had in mind, wondering if it would work out cool. He could not back off, once his mind accept something, it means it's worth doing.

He had got to give it a try.

Not too long after, his assistant made his way into the building. Cass went straight up the stairs to his study room and pushed the door open.

On seeing that his master wasn't in, he decided to check the balcony.

On reaching there, he smiled as he bowed.

"Master Andre!"

"You took long!"

"I'm sorry Master!"

Turning to face his assistant, "follow me!" he said, going back into the study room.

Andre sat down and drafted a few things down on a paper. After that, he passed it to Cass.

Cass took the paper immediately and went through it.

When he read what was written on the paper, he froze.

Looking up at his master, "Master!"

"That's what I have to do. There's no other choice."

Get everything needed ready. Let me know when you're set.

"Yes Master!" Cass said and stood up to leave. He to had no other option. He didn't blame his boss.

The only thing he could do for him was to support his decisions, nothing less.

In a few hours later, everything was set.

Andre appeared out of his room, looking like a cheap staff. The clothes were simple regular clothes that anyone could buy, making him look so normal. The footwear was just a not so good slippers. His hair looked a bit tattered.

"Master, can we really do this? If the rest should see this, I won't be spared."

"What do you mean Cass. Are you now doubting my decisions?"

"Never Master!"

"Then keep shut and let me do my mind."

"Yes Master! Master, the car you asked me to prepare is ready."

"We are good then."

Like that, Andre transformed into an ordinary man.

Cass got changed as well as they entered the simple car and left the mansion. Without informing anyone, they made their way to New York City.

If this is what it will take for me to have peace of mind, I'm willing to. I hope this works out. Andre said to himself as he watched the scenic view.

New York City

Anita had already gotten to New York City, as she lodged in a simple apartment.

Thank goodness for her friend Kate. If it wasn't for her, she probably wouldn't have been there.

Kate and Anita had been best friends from childhood. Due to Kate had lost her parents, she had to leave Houston to start a new life in New York, living with her boyfriend.

If she had not reconnected with her over the phone, her dreams of moving to New York City would have only remained a dream, nothing more.

"Girlie, you look so beautiful. Wow!" Kate gushed over Anita.

"Don't tease me. You look amazing, I should be gushing over you." Anita replied smiling.

"Hahaha! So, this is the apartment I helped you find. Simple yet classy and affordable." Kate said as she started showing the place to Anita.

"Thanks a lot girl! I have no idea what I would have done without you." Anita said, looking at her so gratefully.

Chapter 2: Sass Media House

Stopping, she moved towards Anita and held her hands tenderly. "You really don't have to feel that way Anita. This is destiny. Okay?" she said.

She didn't feel like she actually did something so great for her friend Anita. Yes, she was there to put her through, but what about the things that Anita had done for her.

Back at Houston.

Kate had just lost her parents and was in a state of grief. At that time, no one was there for her. She had no one. The rest of her family members didn't care, so she was all alone.

Despite the fact that Anita didn't have much control of anything, she did all she could to make Kate more comfortable. Anita had brought her into her own home where she stayed till she moved to New York City, even though her family was against it.

Kate's joy knew no bounds the day she reconnected with Anita. She could not believe it at first. Years had passed by already.

"Thank you Kate! At least for this support."

Changing the conversation, "This is the room, this is the kitchen. I remember it's your favorite place haha! Here's the sitting room, the bathroom is over there. What do you think of this place."

"It's cool, I love it."

"You really have changed Anita. Look at your face, so pretty. I still can't forget not getting tired of looking at your lashes back then. It's still so long and beautifully black. Look, you're now taller as well." Kate didn't wanted to stop talking about Anita's body development.

No one loves Anita more than she does, and that was her thought. Her friend was already a full grown young woman with beautiful curves and slender body.

Soon, Anita settled in.

"What are you going to do now? Will you like to wait till Monday so you can go in search of a job or..?" she asked.

"Kate, in here for a reason, so there's no time to sleep." Anita replied.

"Hahaha okay, yea I know you. So what are four plans?"

"Sass Media House scheduled an appointment with me. So I should be there tomorrow." Anita answered.

"Sass Media House? I won't say it's not okay, but isn't it pretty small? I mean, I could join you look for a better job." Kate suggested. Sass Media House is a pretty popular company, but she thought of it as little because she knew just how brilliant Anita was.

"Darling, I want to be a reporter. Sass Media House just needs good reporters and they are good."

"It's fine dearie! I'm here for you. Anytime!" she was willing, as long as it's something her friend wanted to do.

"I appreciate you kate! I will go check it out tomorrow morning."

"Can I come with you?"

"Sure darling!"

Andre and Cass had just gotten to New Year City as they drove by the streets.

"Where did you get the house at?"

"Master! I got it at a simple building, not too far from Sass Media House."

"okay cool. If after a while I didn't see what I expect, we will leave immediately."

"Yes Master!"

The next day, Anita made her way to Sass Media House, alongside her, was Kate.

When they got to the three story media building, they walked in.

"Hello! How may I help you?" a security approached them.

"Hi Sir! we are here for a job." Anita said politely.

"Come this way then." He said, leading them to the elevator that will take them straight to the director's office.

"Thank you sir!"

"Kate, how will you go in with me? You aren't here to look for a job, are you?"

"I'm your bodyguard. Just invade you're being asked." she answered joking.

She just wanted to accompany her girlfriend seeing as she was new to the city. Her work as a real estate agent was enough for her already. She had her boyfriend as well.

When they got to the office door, Kate sat down at a bench close to the door, while Anita went ahead to knock on the door.

"Come in!" A woman's voice sounded from inside.

Anita then took a deep breath and walked into the office.

"Good morning ma'am!" she greeted respectfully.

The woman was writing a few things with her glasses on. Upon hearing the greeting, she raised her head.

"Good morning! Sit down." she nodded as she answered.

"Thank you ma'am!"

Anita gazed at the middle aged woman at her front. This must be the director, she thought as she sat down obediently.

"You must be Anita!" The director said.

"Yes I am!" Anita confirmed.

"I'm sure because I scheduled an appointment with just two people. A young man and you." she said smiling.

She sounded nice and spoke so naturally.

Anita felt free.

"Oh! Sounds good ma'am!"

"Yea. So please wait. I will attend to you both at the same time." the director said, before she faced her work to complete what she was previously trying to jot down.

In no less than five minutes, they heard a knock on the door.

"come in!"

Immediately, Andre walked in.

"Good day everyone!" he said and sat down without permission.

Anita froze.

Did this man really wants to get this job? How could someone without wealth be so bold.

Madam Cross didn't care. She was a kindhearted woman, so those kind of things didn't move her. In fact, it made her took a liking to Andre.

"So let's start." she said as she cleared her desk.

Madam Cross started by asking them a couple of questions which they answered perfectly.

Satisfied, she then came to a conclusion.

"Anita, you will be our head reporter, while you will assist her with our equipments. Do you both agree to this? Let me know if you have any objections."

"it's cool ma'am."

"No problems ma'am. Thanks a lot!"

"alright. I think that's all for now. Please resume tomorrow." she then said, discharging them.

Anita's countenance then changed.

Chapter 3: The Incident.

That wasn't what she expected. For some reasons unknown to her, she hated the idea of Andre being by her side.

"How did it go?" Kate rushed to her after she came out.

"It went well! I will resume tomorrow."

"Yaaaaa and that's how it should be Queen."

As they spoke, Andre walked out and stood behind Anita.

Kate froze.

How could someone be so handsome? She thought.

"Hey!" Andre then said, stretching his hand towards the girls.

"Hi!" Kate responded immediately.

Anita then walked out.

"Where are you going?... Wait!" Kate was surprised as she followed behind.

The next day, Anita resumed. On entering the office door, what greeted her sight was Andre's handsome face.

"Good morning!"

Looking at his face, Anita didn't know if she should respond or not. There was something about his appearance that she didn't like.

"Good morning dear, there's an incident occurring at the kids park, it's the closest one to this company. Hurry and go there! Be careful." madam cross said as she walked towards the couple.

"yes ma'am!" they said in duo as they picked up the equipments and left.

Not too long after, they got to the kids park and was shocked to see the incident that was going on there.

"Can we really do this?" Andre said, being scared for Anita.

Pissed, "Be quiet, just follow me."

Walking slowly, they walked into the building, and headed to the security building as they watched.

The whole kids that came to have fun where on the floor with their parents as they were being harassed. Even the staffs working in the park was not spared. They all laid on the floor as they did anything that was asked of them.

"What do you have on you? Bring it out!" one of the robbers said to a woman who was heavily pregnant.

"Sir, I have nothing on me. The little I had, I gave it to the staffs in exchange for my son to have fun. Please spare me! I have nothing o....."

PAK!

Before she would complete her statement, the robber raised his hand and gave her a hard slap.

The kids all over were crying but despite that, the robbers didn't think it was important to leave them.

The little boy whose mother was slapped was still in shock. He couldn't believe that someone would do that to his mom.

"Sir, how could you do that? She's my mother." he said tearfully.

"Hey, will you shut up or should I blow off your mother's head." another said, threatening with a gun.

"I'll keep quiet but please don't do anything to my mother, she's my mother please." he answered crying out loud.

The woman held her son with one hand as she weeped, holding her protruding belly with her other hand.

Anita felt like she was going to faint when she watched the scene in front of her. This scene reminded her of so many things.

There's no way these criminals was going to get away with this.

Andre too felt bad about what he saw. "What the fuck!" He said in his breath. Bringing out his phone, he dialed the police number. They should have been notified before then though. He was sure they were already on their way.

"How are you?" He turned to Anita as he asked.

"Seems like you love trouble. Well, I don't."

Andre: "..."

Could someone please tell him what was going on?

Soon, sirens could be heard all over as the police blocked all the exits. There was no place to run away from.

The robbers didn't expect it, they had not expect the police to show up so soon, even as they had been trying to take everything before leaving.

The police officers came out immediately, as they unleashed their bullets.

"Bring up the camera! Fast!" Anita shouted at Andre.

"Sure ma'am!" Andre responded, raising his camera to capture every single thing.

Oh my gosh!

Anita could not believe her eyes.

More police cars came to the venue. They didn't stop blowing their horns.

Each of them rushed in holding a gun, except Officer Thomas, who held two guns at the same time.

The zeal to destroy those criminals once and for all were written all over his as he rushed in.

When Anita saw him, she froze.

Who was this man? She thought.

His demeanor and aura was so scary as he was in action.

"are you capturing it?" she turned to Andre as he held the camera.

"yes!" Andre then said, lifting his camera higher.

Thomas ran into the room fearlessly holding his guns. He looked ready to terminate anyone.

Heading in, he pulled the trigger, sweeping almost all the thugs off from the surface of the earth within minutes.

It was remaining one thug. They choose to leave him, taking him straight to the station.

"You all should leave now." He shouted.

Everyone stood up terrified. Some police officers assisted them as they made their way out of the palace.

The moment everything was over, officer Thomas was about to leave when his smart eyes caught with Anita.

Anita didn't expect him to see her. She looked at him back, so they stared at each other for sometime.

Anita looked like she was so proud of him as she headed to him.

"Sir, can I ask a few questions?" she said, trying to take permission.

Thomas was up and ready, so seeing this, he nodded at the camera.

Anita then brought out her microphone as she started.

"Sir, please introduce yourself."

"I'm Thomas by name, an officer of the law."

"Sir, what do you have to say about the incident that just occurred?"

"I'll say it was unexpected, but regardless, we the corps are up and running."

While the questions and answers were going on? Andre was sure to capture every moment.

Looking at officer Thomas through the camera, his countenance changed. For some reasons, he just didn't like Thomas.
