FYON'S POV
I am Fyon Scott. Age? No longer on the calendar. I work as a Movie Screenwriter and I fell in love with the most handsome and perfect man in the world - but that was six years ago.
"I am a single, hopeless romantic, and workaholic woman." At least that's what he said the reason why he left.
"Workaholic? You're not, and that's not the reason why you're still single my dear sister!" said Frigg, my little sister. "And you should learn to say your thoughts silently," she added with a smile on her face.
We are currently at The Weds, the wedding shop with her fiance Klaus.
They announced their engagement about a year ago and they needed me here for fitting since I am her maid of honor. Well, they met because of me and met again because of me.
As I watch them all giddy and snuggly, I can't help but remember the past, and the pain still overshadows my heart.
'Could it be? Is it possible that I am still stuck in the past? Do I still love him?'
While I was lost in my wonderland, Frigg snapped her fingers at me, and then I saw the face I'd never wanted to see.
The very last face I was hoping to see.
That tall, lean body with the most handsome face man sitting right across from me. 'Ainsley.' I thought.
"Sissy, I'm sorry for not telling you." Frigg mouthed and leaned forward to me, "Are you okay with this?" she whispered.
I nodded my head with a faint smile as a reply; sipping the lemonade, trying my very best to hide the bitterness.
I didn't dare to look him in the eyes the whole meet-up, because I didn't want him to see all of my pent-up frustration.
Okay, truth is, I didn't want him to see the pain that I've been hiding all these years, because even just his scent reminds me of how and why we ended up this way.
We finished the meeting around 5:30 in the afternoon; they invited me to have dinner with them - and him, of course.
'With Ainsley? Oh, God knows I never wanted to be near him.' A thought that keeps playing in my mind. So, I lied, "I'm sorry Frigg, I have lots of pending work to do. I got to go."
And before he could utter a word, my phone rang.
I put my phone to my ear and mouthed "I'm sorry." I waved my hand and walked away.
AINSLEY'S POV
People say that I was successful in every way; money, business, and family. What they didn't know - I've been longing for someone's love and attention.
As I was busy checking the blueprints on my table, my phone rang, it was Klaus Moore, my Architect.
"What's up?" I answered.
"Dude, I'm with Frigg here at The Weds, two blocks from our firm." I can hear faint voices in the background as he spoke.
He continued, "We're having a suit and dress fitting. My best man needs to be here for his suit." he said it all at once.
You should know that Klaus and I have the same size when it comes to clothing, so going there is not really on my agenda.
Studying the blueprints in front of me, I replied, "Klaus, I'm busy working --"
But when he added, "Fyon's here too, just a heads up." in a very low voice. I instantly stood up.
"You punk sure know how to trick me," I said, smirking.
Immediately hung up the phone, picked up my keys, and told my assistant to cancel all my meetings this afternoon.
When I got into the car, a thought suddenly popped into my head. I stopped, "Why am I in such a hurry? Did I get excited just by hearing her name? What am I, a high school?"
Unconsciously, I smiled at the answer. "Yes, I was excited to see her, because I am still in love with her."
When I entered the shop, her face was the first and only thing I could see.
Her pretty diamond-almond eyes that I miss staring at, her plump lips and pointy nose that I miss kissing, and her hair - that brunette hair, dyed with pink and green color that I really miss smelling.
It felt like everything was hazy and all of the movement around me seemed to slow down.
Oh damn! God only knows how much I wanted to be with her again, but I can't.
I just can't.
I'm afraid to hurt her again.
I really wanted to talk to her, but didn't want them to think that I was pathetic - for hurting and leaving her, and desperate; desperate to know how she has been doing all these years.
Not wanting her to see the eagerness in me.
I didn't want her to be close to me, just to be hurt again.
So, I distanced myself from her.
During the fitting, I was only stealing glances at her. And for me, that's already enough.
We finished fitting at exactly 5:30 p.m. and Frigg asked us to dine with them at the nearby restaurant.
'Oh, thank you, Frigg! I can look at her face a little longer.' was what I almost blurt out loud, good thing I bit my tongue to restrain myself.
I have no idea how I managed to be here without talking to her. Honestly, I wanted to hug and kiss her right at this very moment.
How much I really miss this woman.
I came back to reality when after hearing her say that she can't make it because she has work to do. And I sighed deep inside; of course, it's her job. Just like how it was before.
She was on her phone all the time; was it work? Or was it something else?
I was about to tell her that it was time for dinner, but her phone rang just in time when I opened my mouth.
So, that's that, she mouthed the words "I got to go." waved her hands, turned her back, and walked away.
Now she's gone. Just like my chance of talking to her. It was all gone.
LUCA'S POV
I was unconsciously touching my "wedding ring" on my ring finger while thinking of the beautiful face with hazel brown upturned eyes, plump lips, and small pointy nose with her long black wavy hair.
A wide and sweet smile showed on my face without me realizing it.
Then I heard a knocking sound at the frosted glass door that pulled me back to my senses.
My smile disappeared as I turned to look at the opening door. There came Jaime, my best buddy since birth, and a co-worker as well. Behind him is an unfamiliar woman who looks really familiar.
"Why are you smiling like that? It's creepy, man," he said while scrunching his nose.
"Bastard you! I wasn't smiling." I said looking at him and then to this unfamiliar woman behind him, yet it really felt like she was familiar.
"Language, please!" he paused to look at her then continued, "Anyway, this is Fyon Scott. Our new --''
My body flinched when he introduced her to me. I wasn't able to hear the last words he was saying and I have no idea why but I kept on staring at her.
Jaime continued talking. "Hey, dude! You're scaring your new Producer. Quit it!" Then he moved, blocking me as if he's trying to hide her from me, or more like trying to protect her from me.
I stepped back and apologized immediately. "Oh no, I'm sorry. Did I scare you?" and she answered, "No..." with a very confused facial expression. "Faun, right?" I added, stretching out my arm for a handshake.
With a charming smile, she answered, "Close. Fyon." and then she accepted my handshake.
Scratching my nape, "Right, sorry. Fyon." I embarrassingly nodded my head and continued, "I'm sorry but have we met? I'm pretty sure we've met before."
Jaime cut in and chuckled, "Hey, you are such a fox!"
His remark made me let go of her hand and said, "No, I'm serious. I think we have, I've met you somewhere." Curiosity was written on my face accompanied by an insisting tone.
"Maybe. She works in the Movie Department. She just transferred here, temporarily. Remember I told you we needed a substitute Media Producer." said Jaime.
"Oh, so you work here as well? Why move here to Production Department? I mean, the pay is much higher in there, right?" I asked, still looking into her eyes.
"Well, yes. They pay much higher, but I have personal matters to tend to, and I still need money for my expenses." she replied.
Not able to stop my meddlesome self, I asked, "Personal matters, eh? Family? Or are you perhaps, getting married?" but before she could answer my question, my best friend chipped in with a chuckle.
He was half seated at my table with his arms crossed. "Not her, but her sister," he said while tapping his left pointer finger on his right arm.
And I knew exactly what he meant by doing that.
I gave him a glance before looking at Fyon and said, "Of course. By the way, I will ask one of our Program Researchers to help you familiarize yourself with the show." Then I walked her towards the door and called the Researcher.
"Alright, thank you," she said smiling but confusion is still evident on her face.
Fyon went out of the office and after closing the door, I let a big sigh of relief out of my body. I turned around to look at Jaime with shame on my face.
"Man, what the heck was that?" he asked, still sitting leisurely on my table. I know exactly what he was talking about.
I walked to him excitedly but with a bewildered tone, "Didn't she look familiar to you?"
"I don't know, man," he answered.
"She's really familiar, man. I just can't figure it out, but it seems like I've met her before."
He didn't say anything for a moment, he was just ridiculing me. "I don't know, man. Or maybe, you have, because she works here like you." Then he looked at my hand, "And what the hell is that?" pointing at the ring on my ring finger.
Shrugged my shoulders and replied, "I remember you said that we are hiring a temporary worker from another department, so I decided to put it on."
Jaime's facial reaction was unreadable. "Why?"
"So, they won't make a move on me." Then I sat on my chair and winked at him.
"Yeah right! What an ass! Anyway, I'm heading out to check the setup in studio 8."
"Shoot! I totally forgot about the approved scripts. I'm going with you." I said while grabbing the script folder on my table.
Patting my arm, he said, "Are you serious? You're too occupied with your "Fyon thoughts." showing the quote signs with his fingers while laughing.
FYON'S POV
I woke up earlier than usual today so I can get to the office before the traffic build-up.
Wanting to process my leave of absence in our department without hassle, so I could also start to work in my new part-time program. The sooner I could process my documents, the better.
Arrived at the company compound around 8 a.m. I parked my car in the open parking area since my new office building was just right next to it.
While I was waiting for the elevator to open, I rummaged through my bag to get my script folder while holding my phone, my eyeglass, and my keys.
And just as the elevator opened, the strap of my bag snapped causing my laptop, the old iPad, and my vanity kit to fall.
Grunting in frustration, I cursed under my breath without looking at the person inside the lift. "Holy crap!"
The moment I bent my knees to pick up my things was the same moment I heard someone and saw a pair of black and white old-school Vans stepping out of the elevator.
"Oh shit! Are you okay?" he said anxiously. He also crouched down and helped me pick up my things.
"I'm so sorry for blocking the way. I'm sorry." I said without looking at the man.
He picked up the iPad, my phone, and my vanity kit while I picked up my laptop, my earphones, and the script folder. He waited for me to gather my other stuff on the floor before giving me the things he just collected.
We stood up and I took all of my things into his hands.
"Thank y - Luca!" I was shocked when I saw him. "Thank you for your help. I'm terribly sorry." I added while struggling to hold the strap of my bag and my things at once.
"Hey, it's alright. Are you all alright? What happened to you? Let me help." he said anxiously in one go.
He pressed the open button of the lift multiple times while I checked my bag. "Uhm, I think your iPad is broken," he said, showing me the now broken screen iPad.
Without looking at him, I replied, "It's okay. Not mine anyway." still rummaging through my stuff.
"Is there something missing?" he looked at me with a worried face.
"My glasses," I said, then I turned around to see them on the ground broken as well.
"Shit!" we said at the same time.
He hurriedly picked it up, chuckled, and said, "That's not how you reacted when you saw the broken iPad. So, I'm guessing it's not really yours." Then he put my glasses back in my bag, not bothering to put them in their case.
I looked at him in surprise. "What? It's already broken, though," he said but I didn't say anything. Just stupidly looking at him.
We entered the lift then he pressed the 13th-floor button while I'm still struggling to hold my bag.
"Let me hold your bag." he took my bag without waiting for my reply. I know. How flirting, right?
I chuckled and responded, "The iPad isn't mine. I am nearsighted and it will take forever to get new glasses so yes, my glasses are more important to me than the iPad." I paused to look at the elevator buttons and added, "Besides, it's old." then my eyes turned to the ground again after seeing his reaction.
Seeing the curiosity written on his face, I answered his unspoken question. "It's my ex's. I was supposed to give it back to him, but didn't have the chance." with a smile I said while looking down at the floor.
And his response was something I am not expecting. "Oh, so you're single."
It wasn't a question, I sensed, but I ignored it.
"Since when?" he added, still curious. "Six years," I answered, then I looked at him with a faint smile.
The lift opened, and when I was about to take back my purse, he swung it and said, "Where's your table?"
Without saying anything else, I pointed to the last table to the left near the glass window.
Luca assisted me from the lift until we reached my table, and I could feel pairs of eyes following us.
"Here you go," he said putting my bag on the table. "Let me know if things get worse," he added with a chuckle.
He was about to leave but I stopped him and said, "Wait." I gave him three pieces of my favorite candy.
He looked at it and asked, "Uh, what's this?" with a confused smile.
I smiled back and said, "My payment for lending me your hand." and I mouthed "Thank you." as everyone around the area was staring at us.
He nodded and smiled sweetly, then he turned and left.
LUCA'S POV
My meeting with the higher-ups regarding the new show finished around 5 minutes after 8 o'clock in the morning.
My stomach growled, so I decided to grab a bite before visiting the taping for our new show.
The elevator opened and there walked out Jaimie. "Where are you going?" he asked.
I replied while stopping the elevator door to close, "I'll just have a bite, then I'll visit the shoot."
He just nodded his head.
As I was waiting for the elevator to reach the ground floor, I checked my social media accounts to see if there was new feedback about our new show.
The number of views, shares, and reactions to the teaser of the new show we released yesterday was very satisfying to see.
While browsing, I didn't know how, but the next thing I knew, I was viewing the page of the woman I'd been longing to see.
Maybe because it's out of curiosity? Okay, I've been stalking her page since I can remember. And there I saw what I am fearing to see.
"What? She's back? Who's he?" Those were the questions I asked myself.
Unknowingly tightening the grip on my phone while zooming in and out of the photo of that woman, her arms were wrapped around the neck of the man, I don't know who.
Annoyed, I turned off my phone and put it back inside my pocket when the elevator opened. And there I saw another woman cursing herself.
"Holy crap!" She crouched down to pick up her things that just scattered to the ground.
'Fion?' I asked myself silently. I stepped out of the lift and exclaimed, "Oh shit! Are you okay?" then I helped her pick up her things.
"I'm so sorry for blocking the way. I'm sorry." she apologized, still picking up her things.
I bet she didn't recognize me.
Bent down and helped her pick up her iPad, cellphone, and her kit. I waited for her to collect all of her things. I don't want to cause her another disaster today.
She looked up at me with surprise. "Thank y - Luca!"
'Did I startle her? Well, that's unexpected.' I told myself. But I smiled when she apologized.
I could feel that she's struggling to carry her bag by her tone when she apologized.
So, I grabbed her things in her hand then I asked,"Hey, it's alright. Are you alright? What happened to you? Let me help."
Without waiting for her answer, I pressed the open button of the lift while she was still searching for something.
I showed her the broken iPad and said, "Uhm, I think your iPad is broken."
She was still rummaging through her bag when she answered me, "It's okay. Not mine anyway." without looking at me.
"Is there something missing?" I asked her without me noticing my worried face.
"My glasses." she said and when I turned around, I saw them lying on the ground, shattered into pieces. "Shit!" I didn't realize that I swore.
Out of curiosity, I said with a little chuckle, "That's not how you reacted when you saw the broken iPad. So, I'm guessing it's not really yours." while checking her glasses before putting them inside her bag.
"What? It's already broken though." I said when I saw her annoyed face. "Let me hold your bag," I added.
Fion started talking while smiling, "Well, the iPad isn't mine. I am nearsighted and it will take forever to get new glasses, so yeah, my glasses are more important to me. Besides, it's old."
Now I am really curious who owns this iPad, but I didn't ask anymore.
But then she spoke again without looking at me, "It's my ex's." She shrugged her shoulders and continued, "I was supposed to give it back to him, but didn't have the chance."
My eyes widened, as another thought came to my mind, 'Now I am really interested in her.' but instead I said, "Oh, so you're single."
I wanted to punch myself right now by making it too obvious. 'Shit! Now I look like a creep to her for sure.' I didn't want to ask anything anymore but I asked her anyway, "Since when?"
She replied, still not looking at me, "Six years." while nodding her head.
I wasn't planning to give back her bag until she settled herself, so I asked her, "Where's your table?"
She pointed the last table to the left near the glass window.
We walked towards it and put her bag down. "Here you go. Let me know if things get worse." I said and laughed.
I was about to leave when she stopped me. "Wait."
She then gave me candies with a 'Thank you' phrase in them. I smiled but was confused so I asked her, "Uh, what's this?"
She gave me a cute smile and said, "My payment for lending me your hand."
'Well, that's cute... Wait, what?' I questioned myself.
She just mouthed "Thank you."
Because of her smile, I felt a sudden heat on my face so I hurriedly turned around and left, fearing that she might see me blushing.
