Waking up and settling into a dangerous situation, Jordyn Barker suddenly turned into a special soldier of the future, when the world had just experienced a terrible disaster with thousands of dangerous monsters always lurking human's life. Her journey to become a great soldier begins here.

Chapter 1 Is this a dream

"Wake up, sir!"

The scene in front of her was blurry, and she could see a figure outside the transparent glass. Lines of letters flash with various data streams around the border of the helmet's glass. She had never seen a helmet with this data line before.

She has been pulled off the ground after feeling a force on her body. She sucked in a breath because her left arm had a sharp pain.

She felt her stomach tighten, goosebumps accompanied by bouts of dizziness that made her vomit immediately. The helmet's glass vomited on it, and a terrible odor increased, so she hurriedly put off her helmet.

"Sir! Don't you want to live anymore? Put on your helmet!" The man carrying her walked briskly, shouting hoarsely, his voice muffled because she had taken off her helmet and was far away from the intercom device embedded in the helmet.

A feeling of suffocation came, and the reeking smell hit her nose. She couldn't breathe. She immediately coughed violently. It took a lot of effort to stop. She wanted to put her helmet on immediately, but she held her breath, shook off the vomit, and wiped it off with her tactical gloved hand before putting on the helmet.

The oxygen supply has restored, but the uncomfortable feeling had not passed. After initially being overwhelmed and disoriented, having all the qualities a professional soldier should have, she quickly forced herself to calm down and began to observe her surroundings.

Where is this?

"There's a hole in the tree ahead, let's hide in it!" The man said.

In the shaky scene, she saw that this place seemed to be a rainforest, the trees so tall that she did not see the summit while also blocking the sun from sight. The ground was rich with green plants and a moist layer of decomposing leaves that would sink when she stepped on it.

She suddenly reacted, what the hell is going on here? She slept in the car, and how did she wake up in such a goddamn place? Is this a dream?

Dull pain in her left arm made her realize she was not dreaming. It was so real that every cell in her body was transmitting a sense of reality. She turned her head to look at her left arm and found a black branch stuck. Which was exceedingly tough and sharp at the tip as if an arrow had pierced her battle suit and drilled into the flesh of her left arm, causing her pain.

Behind, the ground shook more and more clearly, in the sea of trees, there was a "scratch", and "rumble" sound as if a large tree had fallen. Beads of sweat on her forehead... what was that? What is chasing them?

Soon they reached the hollow of the tree, the male warrior bent down and used a shovel to dig a few times and then ducked into the hole. The two panted and hid, trying their best to hide the tracks and noises, hiding in silence.

At this point, she finally had time to stop and use her brain. What the hell was going on here, she still couldn't believe it.

She grabbed the branch with her right hand. She pulled out and threw it out in a fit of rage with a pitiful cry. The strange thing was that the wound on her left arm wasn't bleeding but was bruised and swollen. In her experience, she's afraid it is poisonous in the branch. No wonder she was dizzy and had trouble keeping her mind clear.

The person in front of her wasn't typical. The uniform she's wearing looks weird. That's an exoskeleton? She had seen in sci-fi movies that soldiers in the future world wearing this exoskeleton could help soldiers run fast for a long time, increase their stamina, and carry heavy loads to reduce their burden.

But why is she also wearing such a strange outfit? She found herself and the soldier carrying her both attired similarly, green camouflage military uniforms, the exoskeleton attached to the combat uniform made of black steel material, supporting the limbs of their spine. When she's running, it will make a hydraulic "click" sound. Under the combat boots, there is a non-slip layer to increase the contact surface of the sole for faster running.

She managed to calm down and began to recall her identity to confirm that she had not lost her mind. Her name is Jordyn Barker, an orphan, 28 years old, a retired commando soldier, active-duty female special forces police officer, the name Jordyn Barker was given to her by her adoptive father, who wanted her to be like a light, always full of hope.

Why did she come here? And where is this place?

These two questions did not linger in her mind for long, for immediately afterward, the horrifying scene before her eyes quickly took her soul.

The ground rumbled, and a large and ugly figure appeared in her vision. Through the silk sheath hanging over the outside of the tree cave, she saw a sight that would haunt her for the rest of her life. The first shock and fear when she first arrived were from that monster, like a knife cut, leaving a deep mark on her heart.

The sound of gasping uncontrollably, through the intercom in the helmet transmitted to the ears, not only of herself but also of the other side. The male warrior next to her also showed a tense expression, his hands wearing tactical gloves were clenched tightly on the ground, Jordyn couldn't see his figure clearly because his entire body was equipped with equipment.

It was a monster with an extremely ugly appearance, and extremely strange. This monster's height or shoulder height is more appropriate, visually estimated shoulder height is four meters tall, and the body is at least ten meters long. She is humanoid in shape, with yellow skin, hairless, but fly-like crawling forward, a distended belly, very long and jointless limbs, zigzagging in all four directions. The bare head is not very round, and the top of the skull is concave as if there is an extra piece of skull bone. In front was an extremely ugly face, on the face, there were three pairs of eyes folded, no nose, and a bloody mouth, or exactly the same hole as a mouth, with split petals and fangs.

This seemed like a giant fly-like monster, so Jordyn Barker was shocked unpredictably, facing such a surreal and supernatural picture for the first time, even if she was a well-trained special force, but also difficult to accept. The good thing is that her trained tension keeps her from losing control and screaming, or panicking to get out, she just tries to crouch down, stare at the monster, and try to adjust. breathing, suppressing her emotions.

The monster doesn't search this place carefully, she left with an unpleasant fishy smell, even though the helmet's oxygen mask it can't get rid of the smell.

The two waited for about five more minutes in the hole in the tree that had been drilled in silence. Jordyn's movements were stiff, numb, and slow. If it weren't for the support of the exoskeleton, She was afraid she would have collapsed soon. There are four-gun slots on the exoskeleton: two around the waist with two pistols and two on the back with a rifle and an odd-looking gun painted in camouflage, looking a bit like a laser gun. A tactical knife holster is strapped to the right leg, containing a military knife and a folding tactical engineer shovel.

Chapter 2 Three-dimensional image

When she opened her eyes, she first saw the blue tent ceiling.

"You're awake, don't move, let me check." A female voice rang in her ears, followed by a white woman with blond hair and blue eyes, wearing a white doctor's coat, appearing in her field of vision.

She stared blankly at her, not knowing how to react.

"You fainted from being poisoned by the Ladenvi. But fortunately, your subordinates carried you back here in time. You recuperate well, in another two days you will be able to walk on the ground, I have other patients, I will leave first." The female doctor said.

"Oh, okay, thank you." Jordyn said.

"You're welcome." She smiled sweetly, then put her hands into the pockets of her white coat and walked out of the tent with quick steps.

Seeing the female medic leave, Jordyn shifted her gaze again and stared at the tent roof in deep thought. Now while this period, she must sort out her thoughts. First, she confirmed that she had traveled to a completely new world.

When she turns to look, several of the "ward" curtains are open, and she can see the patients laying on the bed. Her bed is at the opposite end of the tent. Every single one of them was a soldier and wore the same uniform, even the men and women who were white, black, and yellow. This army... what kind is it? Men and women of various races? Is this the America I know? However, she is unaware of any mixed-gender army in the United States of America.

By the way, language and writing are the only things she has here, and since this body's brain has a natural language instinct, understanding them is also thought to save her a great deal of effort. But she took careful note of the language being used, always feeling that it shared some characteristics with English on Earth and combined elements of German and Dutch, suggesting that it belonged to the Indo-European language family's western branch of the Germanic language family. To someone familiar with English or German, this language is not foreign and is easy to pick up.

At this moment, she has listed survival as the highest matter. She is now in the midst of the army, and amid the army on a mission. How can she, who knows nothing, save her life under the heavy danger? She doesn't have time to learn, to slow down to understand the world, the only thing she can do at the moment is to absorb all the information she can get around as soon as possible, to put together a survival strategy.

She was not able to get anything, and she almost died when she came up. The original owner of this body had the same name as herself, and although the body's appearance was a cosmetic version of her own, it was also her own, so it's not surprising that she came through.

When the female doctor gave her the mirror, she noticed that she was wearing a bracelet-like object on her right wrist. It looked simple and smooth, translucent, light blue, the invisible clasp is very strong, wear tightly clasped on the wrist, no gap can be seen, looks very beautiful. The entire bracelet looked like it was made of crystal, and inside it flowed a string of dark blue data, which, upon closer inspection, could be found to be various natural base indices such as date, time and temperature, oxygen content, and geographical coordinates.

These were all units of measurement on Earth that she was very familiar with, especially the coordinates of latitude and longitude, which excited her a little. It looked like no surprise that the science and technology of this world coincided with the Earth.

But she had at least a lot of information based on this string of data. What year, month and day are it now, what direction is she in now, knowing this, her heart is at least a little more stable. However, regarding the geographical coordinates, she does not know where.

She observed for a few more moments and quickly found the only touch button. As soon as she touched it, a four-square holographic hover screen appeared above her wrist, startling her.

The holographic hover screen displayed her basic personal information, name, age, birthday, place of origin, height, weight, circumference, heart rate index, blood pressure index, and personal three-dimensional image. In addition, her unit affiliation, military rank, and military service were all recorded.

Name: Jordyn Barker

Age: 28

Birthday: 97/2/30

Camp: Neutral

On the side of the personal information screen, there was also a series of selection boxes that showed troop information, mission information, mailbox, address book, live call, and search. There were three unread emails in the mailbox, so she ignored them and tapped directly into search, and when the search box popped up, her hand trembled.

Two by two, people with different personalities and values are grouped into orderly and chaotic groups depending on how closely they adhere to rules and order, good and evil groups based on how generally good and bad are perceived, and the gray area of neutral qualities. Eventually, nine groups of people have been created. Could it be that this universe translated the settings from the game into reality based on how this thing appeared on her profile?

Although puzzled, she did not bother with it for the time being but continued to browse through the messages that followed. After reading it, she had a general understanding of the army's establishment.

It was networked, so it seemed she wouldn't be confused about the world anymore.

Jordyn spent nearly three hours lying on the bed to check the message of this world. The expression on her face changed several times, from confusion to shock to disbelief, and finally accepted the truth with a gloomy face.

Although she was unsure if this was a parallel universe, she was aware that the planet she was on right now had a history that stretched back to 2022, the year she had once lived, and that it was not Earth. This world was like in 2038, just before a devastating global nuclear war.

She was sure of one thing, she might have traveled to the future, the future of the Earth.

Chapter 3 The Dark Decade

The terrible catastrophe changed the Earth's environment, with oxygen getting thinner every year, massive particulate matter floating in the air, an exponential rise in sulfides, and ubiquitous radiation that would not dissipate for many years. Humans, even if they were not preyed upon by the Earth Pulse insects, died in large numbers because of these harsh conditions.

Why exactly the division of camps to this point, Jordyn really does not understand. She only vaguely understood that it was probably to be able to strengthen the rule of all the people of the Federation. But now her priority is to survive, she is new to the world, do not know anything, these things are too far away from her, do not think so much first.

In other words, Jordyn is now under constant monitoring of the "Gabord System". The bracelet on her wrist is actually the ID terminal of every citizen, equivalent to the sum of the former smartphone, IC card, ID card, driver's license, social security card and a series of other things. Without this ID terminal, one cannot survive in the Federation. Since she is a soldier, her ID has been changed to military ID since she joined the army, which is not the same as the civilian ID. But the basic functions are similar, one of the most critical is the automatic scanning of physical and mental conditions every 5 seconds, real-time monitoring of physical health and camp affiliation.

First - the rise of women. As mentioned earlier, the new human evolution paid the price of a significant decline in fertility and reproductive capacity. This was manifested in the form of male sperm deactivation, female ovarian degeneration and uterine menopause. Such a situation intensified until 69 years of the new calendar, the last natural birth of human babies were born, and all children born after that were artificially bred new human beings. Women had a huge head start in the evolution, because of the disappearance of fertility, women no longer suffer from menstruation, nor the burden of pregnancy, the pain of childbirth, coupled with a substantial increase in physical ability, has been compared with men, no difference, and thus the status of women has changed radically. The army began to recruit a large number of women, mixed with men, so that also makes the army more and more powerful fighting force. That's why Jordyn saw the strange sight of troops with both men and women, and with all races.

The 74 years between 2038 and 2112 of the old calendar, which people habitually call "the hundred years of resistance", until today, in September of the new calendar year, the World Federal Republic has been founded 119 years. During these 119 years, a lot of things happened, and for a while, Jordyn could not understand all of them clearly. But there are two points that interested her very much and read carefully.

The next mission information is no different from what she previously understood, they three squadrons from Athena's City, to the human currently the largest outfield military research base - Confidential One, responsible for transporting a batch of newly researched classified military supplies back to Athena's City. They met with an accident on the way back, and the munitions were not lost, but the team got separated. The Griffin Outfield Base Station is located one hundred and forty kilometers southeast of Classified Area 1, and the team currently stationed here is the Right Wing Sub Squadron of the 3rd Squadron led by Lieutenant Crawford. separated. They had a chance encounter with Lieutenant Crawford and were stationed together into Griffin Base Station for repairs.

She was really hungry and finished her lunch in three sittings. When the nurse neatly collected the plates and left, she got out of bed, put on her camouflage uniform, put on her army boots and prepared to go to the south bunker to look for Lieutenant Crawford.

The company's main business is to provide a wide range of products and services to the public.

She had three more unread emails in her inbox, and when she clicked on them, Jordyn saw that the first one was from her top lieutenant, Lt. Javier Dotson, the squadron commander of the Left Wing Sub Squadron, and that the content of the email was simple, asking about her situation. The second email came from Second Lieutenant Atticus Joseph, the squadron adjutant of the Left Wing Sub Squadron. Atticus Joseph's file were equal, and the two were Javier's right-hand men. The content of the email is also asking how she is doing, and judging from the tone of her email, she seems to have a very good relationship with herself.

Her name was Beckham Freeman, a man of German descent who was the only Grand Marshal in the history of the Federation, the greatest leader, and the leader of the Hundred Years' Struggle. She united all the surviving humans and established the seven city-states, which are now the home of humanity.

In this horrible world where there are threats everywhere, the small part of human beings who survived the brutal elimination of the best, began to change. Physical quality to produce a qualitative leap, the ability to survive greatly enhanced, this is the evolution of the new human. Although there is no exaggerated special ability in those science fiction novels, but the new human really happened not a small change. In addition to the substantial improvement in physical quality, intellectual thinking progress, the most significant evolutionary feature is the ability to reproduce and reproduce a substantial weakening. This may not be said to be evolution, but only natural transformation, what is gained, what is lost, the world is always in the conservation.

When Jordyn saw this entry, she almost jumped up and screamed. The great gloom that had suppressed her for more than ten years had dissipated because of coming into this world. She, as a Les, simply had to kneel down and worship the heavens with gratitude. Sure enough, what heaven makes you lose, it will inevitably give you, it is fair.

Humans initially thought that the war destroyed the world, but after the devastating disaster, the surviving humans suddenly discovered that the violent movement of the earth's crust turned out to be premeditated, and that humans had merely advanced the process themselves. In the cracked Grand Canyon, in the eruption of volcanoes, in the extrusion of the birth of a new mountain, began to appear a huge number of horrible monsters, they are extremely ugly, most of them have close to the appearance of insects, but not any kind of insects known to man. People call them "Vegort Insects".

If she looks at her "friends", it seems that she is the only one who has this special treatment, the rest of them are eating bread and soup.

"Jordyn, it's almost one o'clock, it's time for you to have lunch."

But after a brief moment of excitement, the second point that followed made her a little uneasy.

With her left arm still dangling and vaguely painful, she hit the curtain to go out and was drawn to the sight before her.

Previously, Vegort had briefly mentioned in the debriefing of the earth pulse insects, Jordyn then failed to understand what it is, now understand that it is a threat to human survival environment of the terrible alien. They have the ability to fly, burrowing ability, diving ability, almost everywhere, they are huge, brutal murderer, to hunt humans for food, and the human body as a breeding ground to hatch the next generation.

This system has been in use since the 30th year of the New Calendar, more than 100 years ago. When it was first put into use, it mainly took the form of implantation, in which a port carrying a biochip was implanted in the back of the human neck, approximately under the cerebellum, so that the brain waves were monitored by the chip detection, and through a series of complex calculations, the camp division of each person was derived. With the continuous improvement of technology and the emergence of artificially reproduced new human beings, the implantation method has changed into a genetic innate synthesis method, and now all new human beings, at the beginning of conception, the brain development process is controlled by the "Gobord System".
