I remember the day when life would never be the same again ,that fateful day, still just a young wolf at play with my brothers and sisters in the forest, when suddenly an invading hungry wolf pack attacked. I watched my parents, the Alpha and Alpha Queen of our pack, wage a brave fight, but the enemy was a considerable group. One by one, they all fell, and I was the last one.
I was left alone, an orphan, an omega wolf, the lowest in the hierarchy. I had to run or face being killed by the other packs attacking.
I moved from Coven to Coven in search of a new home, only to be greeted with hostility and rejection. A lot of them saw me as weak and a burden. I was condemned to be alone, always on the fringes of society.
One night, I was exhausted and trying to rest in a hidden den when Darius, the Alpha wolf of a feared and powerful pack and a proclaimed lycan king, found me. He was drunk, his eyes wild with no focus. He attacked me, pinning me down.
I can't stand thinking about it,the pain, the shame, the horror. I was alone and vulnerable, and he took advantage of me.
I had been on the run for months, escaping the memories of that fateful night , I was also scared at the thought of king Darius coming to his senses ,and realizing what he has done and search for me , to become a breeder for him which also meant to become his wife , a thought I dreaded so much .
My body could take no more. I began to feel odd; my senses were up too high, and my stomach was churning with a newfound nausea. At first, I thought it was merely exhaustion; but deep down inside, I knew something was different.
One sunny day, a look at my reflection was drawn out while I was drinking water from the river. My eyes flew open in the great realization of my body's new detail: my belly had a slight protrusion, and my fur was snowier and shinier than before. A jolt of dread greatened in me, making me disbelieve.
No, it wasn't true. I thought. But deep in my mind, I knew that was simply not true.
I was with a child.
It dawned on me like a burst of lightning. It made me feel like I gasped for air, drowning beneath the enormity of the new reality. I'd been trying so hard to push the memories away, and now they flooded back, with Darius' face, eyes, and hands on my body. I felt a wave of nausea and shame wash over me.
How could this have happened? I thought I was safe. I thought I'd gotten away.
But my body had betrayed me. I was bearing the pup of the wolf who had violated me. The thought sickened me.
I was on the floor as my body gave in, racked through with sobs. I felt as though my whole world was coming to an end. I was alone, scared, pregnant, and didn't know what to do.
I couldn't believe it. Pregnant with Darius' pups,as it dawned on me I was expecting twins. The thought made me sick to my stomach. I'd tried everything in my power just to get rid of them and make them go away, but it seemed my body had decided to protect them.
It felt like I was stuck in a never-ending nightmare, and there was nowhere to run. I couldn't return to my pack; I couldn't take much time facing Darius' wrath. I was alone, scared, and ashamed.
That's when I ran. I ran like the devil, on and on, until at last I tumbled down, exhausted and lost. I recovered a bit in a little thicket forest, quite wisely all by itself, and I fell rather exhausted upon it.
Days grew to weeks, and weeks grew to months. I could sense the pups within, growing larger each day and trying to do all the somersaults they could inside my stomach. I knew I was responsible for these babies, so I continued.
That day finally came, under a full moon lit sky,I gave birth to my two pups, Malik and Damian. Both of them were small, delicate, and entirely under my protection.
Eventually, I realized that I couldn't do it all on my own; I needed help.
My days of wandering continued. The pups were growing by the hour, and I would have to find a way to carry them. Because of this, I took on human form and began to select tree branches to make baskets. I eased them inside to sit in Malik's and Damian's arms comfortably, my hands ever so grateful to be freed once more.
On my way, I found myself among my fellow werewolves, only that they would turn around, growl, and run off as soon as they got the whiff of my omega status. By now, I was used to it, but it still stung.
Tired out then, I went into a wolf village, visiting to rest upon his tree shade. Next to the shade-giving tree, I laid my head on one basket and found a seat. This, however, angered a section of the community as their eyes narrowed at me with hostility.
"Get out, Omega," one of them growled. "Welcome here, you are not."
I tensed against the fight, but before something else could further be done, a fiery-spirited young woman in a blacksmith's apron sprang up.
"Back off! She's just a mother trying to protect her pups," Amelia said, her voice firm but kind.
The villagers snarled but fell back, leaving poor Amelia smiling warmly at me. "Come, you must be starving. Come to my dad's workshop, and we'll get you some food and clothes ,you need to rest you look quite exhausted."
She accepted, leading me to the forge. Her father nodded in welcome. She fed me again a bit and handed me some water, guiding me to a warm, hearty room where my pups and I were finally able to relax.
For the first time in years, fleetingly, I had a moment of safety, a moment of belonging, when absolute loneliness threatened to creep in at any moment. And it was all because Amelia had looked past her omega status and treated me like an equal wolf.
As I lay there with my eyes closed, she prayed to me about her life in the village. She was a talented blacksmith, just like her father was, and she had this thing inside her that seemed to want to help others. I felt drawn to her; her kindness and strength made my heart grow fonder. But I had yet to brace myself to explain to her what I'd been through.
Amelia's little eyes were irrationally lowered down to the offspring.
"What'd you name these little beasts? They're so adorable." The words conveyed such love and compassion as she tickled the pups.
"Damien and Malik,Damien is the one with the birthmark on his cheek," I replied.
She then asked me the question that broke me into a thousand pieces.
"But what about their father? Where is he?"
I could not take it anymore, so I burst into tears as I dropped to the floor; however, Amelia came closer to comfort me.
It was in this comfort that I built up the trust to let her know everything in me, leaving no detail of what I've been through with, and who unfortunately is the father of my kids: Damien and Malik.
"My father and I will do everything to keep you and the twins safe and away from him, i promise you."
Looking into my eyes, she assured me, and I slept off in her arms.
She offered to help me find a safe, secluded spot that exuded calm. We wrapped hands, my pups in their baskets, and after about half an hour, we reached the clearing, surrounded by several trees and a stream running close by.
"So that's it." Amelia's face broke into a smile. "You can start your life over here once again. I will help you make that house; we will plant ourselves right across from each other.
I nearly had tears of gratitude. I finally found a friend,a true friend, who accepted me just as I was.
"Thank you, Amelia." I made one strained sound through the thickness of my throat. "Thank you for seeing me."
So we embarked on a new life, forgiving each other for what had occurred in the past. or at least that's what I wanted to think.
How wrong I was.
It's been three years since Amelia and her father took us in; Malik and Damien had grown into restless little young cubs, still trying to understand their shape-shifting nature. While Malik could shift into wolf form and human form, poor Damien was stuck only in his human form and hadn't figured out how to move yet into wolf-like form. After three years of continuous, productive hard work, we completed a small hut and a farm where I grew crops and fruits.
As we settled in, Amelia and I drew closer and closer, and our initial bonding over the fact that we were both werewolves became so much stronger. She taught me a lot about blacksmithing, and I found out that I was pretty good at making iron wares and tools. We worked well together and built a prosperous business selling our wares to surrounding villages.Malik and Damian did well within our small open clearing space, playing and roaming in the woods. They loved Amelia as an aunt, and I finally felt like I fit somewhere and had found a family that accepted me for me.
But as the months started to tick by, I noticed strange happenings in the village. Tools would go missing, and weird symbols appeared on the doors of the homes. It seemed that someone was trying to convey some message, but I couldn't decipher its meaning. One night, Amelia came to meet me-the expression on her face was troubled. "Kahlis, the village brews something. Strange wolves have been loitering about in the shadows; the villagers have noticed this and are becoming very restless."
My gut told me that we ought to look into it. We had no idea that our peaceful existence would soon take a sharp change. A few days later, The Alpha's voice echoed across the town square, calling everyone within hearing distance to come outside. "Members of the pack, we have a major issue on our hands. There are missing weapons from our soldiers' vaults, and people have been abducted. We are losing our weapons, our safety, and our physically fit guys." The peasants started whispering to one another. There was worry on everyone's face. The Alpha's expression darkened. "It's clear that someone, or some group, wants us to be helpless in the face of an unidentified foe. We are unable to permit that. The Alpha stopped and looked around the crowd , in a state of desperation and hidden fear decided to evacuate the village.
"We have to leave the village before they get here. Prepare to move out at first light by packing your essential belongings." The people gave a nod in agreement, with some immediately preparing to leave . However, I stood there, my head spinning from the implications, this was not your typical attack. It sounded like the work of my clan's demolishers, the wun pack. My pulse was pounding as I turned to face Amelia. I said, "We have to leave this place," with urgency. "Now." The gathering in the village was coming to an end, yet the ominous feeling persisted. My thoughts were filled with the Alpha's words once more: "Someone wants us helpless." That's something I clearly recall. It happened to me as well when my pack was overrun And they were demolished. With my voice barely above a whisper, I turned to Amelia. "We must go. Now." Her eyes met mine, saying something unsaid, yet they're all the same: fear. She nodded. "We'll pack and leave at first light."
Yet fate had other plans. A pack of wolves ripped through our village that very night like a storm. They snarled and growled, destroying our livelihoods and homes. Things started getting scary, and I knew it was time to get out of there fast. "Amelia, the pups!" My hands were clenched around Damian's hoops as I yelled the warning to Malik. "We need to get out of here, now!"
But I sensed as we raced that there was more to our escape than just the oncoming pack. We were fleeing my history and the recollections that continued to trouble me.
A howl then shattered the air. It made me shudder all over again. It was an order, a summons to withdraw. The charging wolves faltered, their growls and snarls becoming clumsy. With hope, Amelia's eyes met mine. Shouting, "What does it mean?" I dismissed it with a shake of my head, but Malik's wolf sense had him alert and focused. He gave a tiny whine in return to answer Amelia. A fresh pack of wolves emerged from the darkness, staring at them. He had bright eyes that appeared to pierce them, and he was a proud gray wolf."Leave now, and do not return," he growled, his voice sharp and authoritative.
Outmaneuvered, the attacking wolves turned, their tails between their legs and retreated. The bloodhound wolf pack followed them, thus safeguarding the village. They cheered and thanked the Bloodhounds for their bravery as they exited the houses. I just felt this chill, however Bowed at the pack with a warm smile.Timothy, now an alpha of the new pack,my heart was racing with his recognizable approach.
"Timothy, brother of King Darius," I whispered. But my fear was too deep, and Darius' cruelty was still in the front of my mind. I backed away, my eyes darting around for an escape.
My fear was overwhelming, and my mind began with all sorts of worst-case scenarios. I knew I had to get away.
I warily watched Timothy, tinged with fear, as their celebration at the rescue immediately got underway. I knew who he was-King Darius' brother, a powerful wolf in his own right. He seemed not to recognize me, and I stayed away from him, unsure what to make of his presence.
Then, Timothy's face turned serious as he turned toward the Alpha. "In return for our service, I demand a maiden to serve my brother as a breeder. His wife committed suicide and is dead, and our pack needs a new bloodline."
The Alpha nodded immediately. "Of course, Timothy. We shall get the maidens ready for you to pick."
My eyes locked on Timothy in the crowd; our gazes held for a moment, and then I broke eye contact as my heart began to race. I knew what this would mean: taking a young woman from some village, forcing her into breeding, and sentencing her to servitude for life. She saw my fear and whispered reassurances. "Don't you worry, Kahlis? Timothy won't take you. You're a mother, and they need a maiden." But I knew differently. I was aware of the viciousness of Darius's pack and knowingly erred on the side of evil in Timothy's words. And as the villagers dispersed, blind to the danger lurking behind Timothy's charming, alarming smile, I knew I would do no less than make sure my safety and my pups' from King Darius' clutches.
I sat on my bed, with thoughts of Timothy and his bold demanding statement racing through my mind. The door opened, and Amelia entered. "Kahlis, what's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost," she said, her face a picture of concern.
I stumbled, not knowing how to formulate my fears. "It is only.Timothy's words.choosing a maiden.it does not seem right, Amelia."
Amelia's expression turned serious. "Oh, Kahlis, you're safe. They won't choose you. You are an omega, while the king will be an Alpha and wouldn't be able to marry someone without a pack."
I nodded, knowing she was right. The fear didn't want to be talked down, however. "I know, but...what if they make an exception? What if they want me for some other reason?" She was sitting beside me then, her hand on my arm. "Kahlis, you're a mother and a strong one. You just don't have anything to be afraid of. Moreover, I shall remain here and won't let anything happen to you or your pups."
Her words soothed me a bit, but still, the feeling of unease was within. It sat at the edge of my mind like a shadowy figure.
"Thanks, Amelia," I said finally, trying to affect a firmer voice than was warranted by my heaving chest. "I just,I can't shake this feeling off."
Amelia smiled, her eyes locked reassuringly on his. "You'll be okay, Kahlis. I promise. And in three days, when the Bloodhound Pack returns, we'll face whatever comes together." I nodded, feeling somewhat better. However, the fear still lurked within, waiting to jump out.
The next three days, I just seemed to blend in with the blur of anxiety and unease. I tried going about my daily routine but always had Timothy's return playing on my mind. Amelia did notice me in distress, trying to reassure me; even she, with her words, could not still my fears.
The day of return finally came for the Bloodhound Pack. I kept my distance as they entered the village, their eyes raking over the crowd before Timothy's gaze fastened onto mine, and something ran down my spine.
Amelia was beside me, her hand on my arm. "Remember, Kahlis, you're safe. They won't choose you."
It was getting too much for me. I was choking with tension. I would turn and run inwards, just as the Alpha's shout echoed across the village square, and I would very methodically retreat out of the pack, all the while keeping my eyes fixed on Timothy and his evil smirk. "All maidens, step forward!" My heart fell when I saw the village's females, primarily beta wolves with just a few Human females.
I boldly walked back into the crowd and watched the line up of maidens form, I gazed as I silently prayed for Amelia not to be selected as she was a maiden in her clan as well.
When my eyes opened, I was met with Timothy's intense gaze; his eyes gleamed and were almost frighteningly brilliant. I was transfixed, my head frozen in terror, my heart racing. That completed it. I could take no more. As I turned to flee, Timothy's icy, authoritative voice sliced through the atmosphere. "Seize her!" Before I could move, his guards leaped into action without thinking, grabbing hold of me forcefully. I made an effort to break free from their hold, but to no avail. Timothy never took his eyes off mine as he strode in my direction. His tone was sarcastic as he queried the Alpha, "Why was she not among the Maidens?" The Alpha gave a shrug.
"Timothy, she's a nobody. a menial little omega devoid of pack. Not something to think about." The pain that Timothy's look conveyed a sense of unease that much outweighed anything Alpha had spoken. His eyes swept over my body as if he had been a predator who had chosen his prey, and it appeared as though he was measuring me. His voice sounded like thunder and made my skin crawl. "You're coming with me" he muttered. It was at this point I knew I was doomed.
The Alpha looked shocked and wide-eyed. However," Timothy, this is quite unusual! An omega cannot become a king's spouse, much less his breeder."
Timothy came closer to me, his eyes shining with a sinister intensity as his smile widened. "Ah, but you are mistaken there, my dearest Alpha. It has been ordered by my brother, the King, and I will see to it that way." The people' voices were filled with fear and confusion as they muttered in shock. When our gazes locked, I felt the terror and helplessness mirrored back at me from Amelia.
The Alpha attempted to speak once more, but Timothy cut him off with a raised hand. "Enough already! The word of the King is law, and I will uphold it. This omega is going to be brought to the castle and ready for her new job as the King's wife and breeder. I might never wake up from this nightmare, thus I was doomed.
The Alpha refusing to be silenced challenged this Abnormal arrangement " Have the king and those who council him ,gone mad."
The union of Timothy's brother, the Alpha King, and me, the lone omega wolf, was deemed an abomination in our society, thus The Alpha declined to support it. In our society, powerful, high-ranking females were supposed to mate with alpha wolves like the King, not menial omegas like me.
The Alpha thought that this mating would cause the social system of their pack to crumble and harm the royal bloodline. He perceived it as a threat to the security of their civilization and a betrayal of the King's obligations to their people. It's also possible that the Alpha was driven by a desire to keep me, whom he regarded as a pack member, safe from what he perceived to be a destiny worse than death: having to mate with the brutal and ruthless king Darius.
Out of fury and a desire to establish supremacy, Timothy let go of his claws and cut the Alpha across the throat, quickly killing him. This violent deed served as both a warning to anybody who dared to challenge Timothy or his brother, the King, and a public demonstration of Timothy's power.
The Alpha's limp body collapsed to the ground, sending the town into utter disarray. Amelia covered the twins eyes from the gory scene, shedding sobs over their faces. The atrocity that had just occurred in front of the twins' young minds was beyond their comprehension.
Timothy turned to face the village, his eyes gleaming with a ferocious intensity. With a voice full of hate, he growled, "Anyone else who dares to question my brother's decree will suffer the same fate." The terrible death of the Alpha caused the locals to crouch in terror and silent themselves. My head reeling from the thought that I was now at the hands of a monster, I stood transfixed in horror. Timothy ordered his guards to "take me," never taking his eyes off of mine. "Get her ready for her upcoming position. The king is in wait." I glimpsed Amelia's distressed face as the guards hauled me away, her eyes begging me to hold on and stay strong. However, I was aware that I was doomed and that there was no way out of this nightmare.
Timothy ordered his guards to take me to the chariot while I was in chains ,as we walked towards the chariot I only thought about my sons and Amelia, would I ever see them again.
Once I got to the chariot ,I was greeted by a dark skinned bald headed man, from the beads covering his neck I could tell that he must've come as a slave from Africa, but there was something more strange about him,I just didn't know what .
"I am Jábar, high warlock and assistant to Lord Timothy" he said with a wicked smile on his face .
"I hope you'll last longer than the previous wives"
at this point I became scared and agitated as Jábar came close to me and made an incantation that made me feel drowsy ,my mind raced with horror as the blackness encircled me. I was imprisoned, defenseless, and at Jábar's mercy-this enigmatic man. His magic was pulsating through my veins, leaving me feeling weak and heavy. I saw Timothy's face, his eyes glittering with cruelty and triumph, just before i passed out.
I was aware that i was on my way to King Darius, the being responsible for destroying my life so many years prior. I thought of my friend Amelia and my boys, Damian and Malik, as my world went dark. Would I see them in my lifetime? Or was I destined to endure unending suffering at the hands of the King and his henchmen? Jábar's menacing voice was the last thing I heard.
"Sleep well young wolf,The king awaits."
After that, everything turned dark. Jábar's magic caused Kahlis's world to disappear, erasing her consciousness. She couldn't move, think, or get out of the void in which she was stuck. The faint sound of her own heartbeat provided her only solace; it was a sign that she was still alive, but how long would it last? She was unable to wake up from what seemed to be an endless nightmare as the darkness continued on forever.
When she did awaken, she was in a frigid, pitch-black cell with stone walls and a cold, hard floor that chilled her to the bone. The sole source of light was a dim torch that flickered in the hallway outside, creating strange shadows on the walls. Kahlis's head pounded, her thoughts clouded by Jábar's after effects. With her chains clanking against the stone floor, she strained to sit up. She was where? How did she arrive here? Worst of all, now that she was back in the grips of the creature that had been haunting her for so long, what horrors awaited her?
Kahlis felt panic surge through her heart as Timothy and Jábar stepped into her cell. Jábar's smile was menacing, and Timothy's eyes glowed with sinister intent. "Pay close attention, Kahlis," Timothy scoffed. "You'll keep your tiny secret to yourself. You are an omega wolf, and no one in the castle should know it.because mark my words You'll meet a fate worse than death if you breathe a word about it to anyone " Jábar moved forward, creating elaborate designs in the air with his hands. "Timothy, don't worry. I'll see to it her omega scent is concealed. She will carry henceforth a beta's scent."
Kahlis experienced a wave of magic that dimmed her senses. She was aware that her omega scent had been concealed by Jábar's spell, but it was merely a stopgap measure. She was ensnared, helpless against these monsters.
Then kahlis realized that the kings decree they mentioned in the village was a lie,but why.
"You lied,if the king really wanted to marry an omega then why hide my scent, what is your game lord timothy and why me , please tell me"
Kahlis said with a very sorrowful tone.
Timothy's smile grows wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, Kahlis, I lied to the villagers because I needed a way to bring you,an omega back to the castle. I could have taken you by force but The royal edict provided the ideal justification. Furthermore, telling them the truth, that I want to use you to overthrow the King was more difficult to do than manipulating them with a lie." His expression becomes detached and calculated as he pauses. "You see, Kahlis, respect and terror are the cornerstones of the King's power. But the council and his followers will no longer fear or respect him if I can prove that he is willing to wed an omega wolf, something they view as an abomination. That's when I'll make my move."
Kahlis's gaze narrows as the possibilities of Timothy's scheme swirl in her head. She understands that she is only a little player in a much bigger game that could have significant repercussions for the entire Kingdom.
Timothy becomes more serious, and his voice becomes ominous. "Keep in mind that you are a prisoner here, Kahlis. And let's just say the King won't be happy if he finds out who you really are. He'll see to it that you meet an even worse destiny than death. The very wolves you once called friends will tear you apart." With malicious glitter in his eyes, he advances a step. "So, I advise you to keep your small secret to yourself. Never even consider attempting to get away or turning against me. Since I have ways of causing you pain as well, let's simply assume that if you do." Timothy's words hang in the air, a sharp reminder of Kahlis's peril, and she gets a shiver down her spine. She is aware that she's imprisoned and at the mercy of two men who don't give a damn about her safety. Her only hope is to play along, bide her time, and wait for an opportunity to escape... or risk everything to defy them.
Kahlis was now alone in the chamber as Timothy and Jábar leave, her mind racing with ideas of rebellion and escape. She is, however, confined for the time being by the castle's chilly stone walls. Outside her cell, footsteps resound, and the door groans open. A bunch of maids enters the room with serious, expressionless features. With a sense of obligation, they approach Kahlis, keeping their eyes away from hers. "Please come, madame," one of them adds in an emotionless manner. "It's time to prepare you for presentation to the King." When Kahlis realizes she's going to be treated like a prize animal and brought in front of the same man who plagues her dreams, her heart collapses. She is aware that she needs to play along, but her soul objectifies the idea of being presented to the King as a prize. She gives up to the maids' leadership with a sense of resignation, her mind whirling with ideas of the coming torture she was about to endure at the hands of her soon to be husband,The Alpha king Darius.
Kahlis started weeping cause she knew she had at long last arrived in hell.
