Chapter 1 A man called Beautiful

Through my room's window, I saw the golden castle gate slowly open till its end.

No one had ever made this gate reach its end opening, not even my father, the king.

Horses rode in; riders wore fine long robes. All our guards watched in amazement at their 'more-royal convoy.'

It was as if God had decided to visit my father to deliver a message which he couldn't entrust to Angel Gabriel's hands.

I loved how magnificent their attire and convoy were. It was a grand panache that left everyone in awe.

It was one of my father's friends, probably a politician.

I shouldn't have bothered because it was none of my business, so I decided to close my window and concentrate on the maid who was kneeling before me and painting my toenails.

While almost drawing the curtains of my closed glass window, other horse riders parted ways for a man.

His fine robe was different; it had all the colors of the rainbow and even more. He wasn't a girl, but he was beautiful.

The sun reflection on his skin could blind natural eyes; his skin reflected like light on diamonds.

My eyes couldn't have enough of feeling him in, so I reopened the glass of my window. He stepped forward majestically like some god.

Who was this young, beautiful man that made my father, the king : a renowned warrior known for getting no scratch all his battle life , stand on the porch of the royal golden castle for so long, watching in shocking fear?

Was he a god?

But why was my father acting like he had seen a devil of royalty?

Oh, then I remembered. Lucifer was known as the angel of light as well, the morning star. Maybe he wasn't what his exterior said, but I was so eager to find out.

As he stood beneath the porch, looking up to my father with an unfunny smile, the calm wind blew his midnight-black hair, which was kept slick at the back.

Honestly, something in me electrified my body, urging me to go feel his hair, but I was afraid.

From my father's look, he might have been the devil. His intense amber eyes still gazed at my father, who was shaking like a table full of light metals during an incoming earthquake.

My father couldn't behold his face anymore, so he hurried inside, leaving my mother dumbfounded, looking at the man from the porch.

I wanted to take in every gist from this beautiful man, so I hurried in after him to see what he had that shook the almighty Golden Castle.

They were speaking in the castle's private chamber.

Whatever made my father take someone into the private chamber must have been a secret information dear to his heart.

Here, I feared that my father was now among the illuminati. I had never heard him react in such a way ever since I popped out of his darling wife's coochie.

Secretly, I made my way around the soundproof private chamber with five-inch-thick walls.

My partner in crime, Lily , my best, crafty and smart maid , hurriedly brought a hose and quietly slipped it through a small space beneath the closed entrance, capturing the sound from the private chamber.

I plucked the hose into my ear like I was some doctor eagerly wanting to hear the heartbeat of an unresponsive patient.

Their voices echoed through the muffled walls, resounding in my ear.

"Donkey years I must say, once Alpha, you've really made a great name for yourself." This wasn't my father's voice.

Young as he was, his voice was more commanding, proud and firm than my aging father's.

"I can say the same for you, Victor Rodriguez," my father's voice trembled, mixed with fear and effects of aging.

"You must have kept your lies to your people, if not you wouldn't still be on the throne now."

I didn't understand what he was talking about but my father was silent and I could hear his heartbeat palpitating through the hose in my right ear.

But the commanding, proud voice continued...

"I have patiently counted the years for her, Rex. I'm sure she's 22 now and I've come to take my bride as promised. Or... do you want to go back on your words now, their king?" I was more confused about what he was talking about.

But with the disrespectful tone at which he was talking to my father irritated me!

What kind of beauty could be this disrespectful to an old, thick, silver-grey-haired man before him?

A sudden rush of adrenaline flowed through my body with a stimulus that made me want to break those thick walls and punch him in the face, but then again I paused, recollecting what he had just said, "I'm sure she's 22 now..." Yes, I was 22.

"I've come to take my bride," No no no no no! So I echoed in my head.

I hoped I wasn't the one they were talking about, or someone in another weak kingdom which they hoped to defeat in battle and take their kingdom to expand theirs.

But my father wasn't responding to any of these heavy questions.

I could hear a cry trying to burst out from his shaking lips but then I thought he was trying to maintain his composure as the renowned warrior and strong king he was.

"You're wasting my time, Rex Anderson. Go get my bride. I have my personal schedules for the day to attend to and I'll advise you don't keep me waiting. Go now."

Wait, why was he so commanding?!

I grinned my teeth until they cracked like the world placed on a single thick wood, so I felt it through my brain.

I was a soft lady, but then, I saw my green veins all bulging out like the Hulk!

I could imagine my knees forcing themselves into the ground while I grinned in seething anger even when I had no superpowers, like my father sometimes disagreed with me.

I suddenly heard shoe steps knocking on the ground. The sound gradually drummed loudly into the hose.

Fear engulfed Lily's eyes while she tapped me, gesturing an incoming movement.

I left her and scrammed, though stealthily. She was smart enough and could take care of herself.

Reaching the covert entrance, I turned and saw her still pulling the hose, eager to leave there before the incoming sounds could burst the hose with a drumming beat.

I heard the private chamber wall-door break open like the walls of Jericho.

While running towards my room, I feared what would become of Lily now for eavesdropping on the king's conversation.

She would be beheaded with immediate alacrity!

Even I, the king's pride, couldn't save her now!

Chapter 2 The shocking reveal

I burst my room door open and dashed in, panting loudly. But to my shocking surprise, behold Lily, sitting on my bed and panting as well.

Her heartbeat was so loud that mine responded to hers like love birds beating a Cherokee drum.

"Christ on a bike! How did you get here?" I asked her while she was sweating profusely.

"I went through the detour," her voice was unstable. I could feel her loud hot sigh on my feet.

I told you she was smart, did I not?

So i decided to visit my father's chambers. I really wanted to know what's happening. I could feel all the golden castle guards' eyes on me, surprised.

Yes, even though we lived in the same big castle, they hardly saw me and I didn't like disclosing my beautiful, well-creamed caramel skin to the sun.

Many of them were obviously crushing on me, others were just mere fans who had submissive love for their boss's daughter.

I could feel my steps unsteady while the heat of their gazes hit me, but I was the princess, the king's pride, and should keep my panache and composure always.

So I managed myself, majestically striding to my father's chambers.

Sometimes I wished I was allowed to marry from the guards because I had my spec amongst them, but I couldn't tell, it belittles me.

And then, some were afraid to walk up to me to air their feelings because they knew who my father was. He was fond of beheading his offenders.

I could feel my sun-kissed copper hair growing much longer while the slow wind blew. It was as if I was slowly walking on air with the cool breeze blowing my long milk-transparent robe away.

I felt like God's wife, sent on a mission of emergency.

I reached my father's chambers, about to knock on the door of his room, but then I paused, eavesdropping on their conversation; it was low, and I was eager to hear it.

"He's here to take his promise," my father's emotions failing him through his shaken voice.

"What promise are you talking about?" My mother was eagerly waiting to hear all he had to say.

"Our daughter. I promised to give him our daughter in marriage when she was 22 years old. But then, he wasn't as ruthless and stubborn as he is now, and I regret every word of it," the king was truly disturbed; I could imagine him pacing restlessly in his room as he dropped those bombs that were about to blow me away.

"How can you promise our daughter to Victor Rodriguez without informing me?! Were you bewitched?!"

"No one can bewitch me!" My father frustratedly replied while I listened in tears.

I couldn't believe that my world was about to turn around for the worse. It wasn't like I was living a free life in my father's palace after all, but whatever could make my father shocked by a little boy could kill me.

So, I should be afraid.

"Prepare our daughter for marriage immediately," my father said lastly, striding away to the door, but with my shoes, which looked like the Ninja's which made no sound, I took to my heels.

On my way running towards my chamber, I could feel the guards turning to look at me; they couldn't imagine what would make their most beautiful princess run this way, like a runaway bride holding her veil on her wedding day.

But their thoughts weren't my monkeys now. All I needed was to get into my room and clear my head while I lay on my soft cushion bed.

Lily had arranged my room when I entered; her gaze was quizzical, she had never seen my tears before now.

"What can ever make you cry, princess?" I wanted to tell her, but my lips wouldn't open.

It felt so immovable that my emotions kept forcing it down and my cheeks trembling while I tried to speak.

When I couldn't control it anymore, I burst out in tears.

The golden castle gate broke open loudly again, like an earthquake. Lily looked through the window. Their horses, with them riding away.

Who knew what my father had told the beautifully mean man that had made him leave? It worried me.

But with the way he had commanded my father was like he needed to leave with me urgently, right?

I stood from my bed, watching out through the window. I felt relief now, though mixed with tension and fear because I still didn't know what had happened.

I wasn't overwhelmed with emotions anymore, not now that the beautiful beast was gone.

So I narrated all I had heard to Lily. She couldn't believe it either, but she seemed happy.

"If your father wants you to marry such a rich-looking prince with such magnificent panache, then you shouldn't cry."

Oh, i felt like sending her out of my room then, but I had some level of deference for her despite her being my personal maid.

Being three years ahead of me at birth , I respected her so much. I wished my heart was transparent enough for her to see the way I was feeling right then.

"Marrying the man isn't my problem, but what causes the marriage is!" I said in tears.

"He isn't really my spec, and you know how much I loathe affluent people."

Now I think she understood why I was crying, because what could make her envelop me with such a comforting hug?

I could feel it from her heart that the hug was really to give me comfort. She hugged me till I slept.

She knew my Achilles' heel: the right spots on my body to rub, tickle, and massage just to make me sleep and feel less tense.

Unaware of what's happening after I slept off, but in whatever realm I was now, I could feel myself like a lovely puppy in the hands of the owner.

I hoped not to open my eyes to that wicked world again. But then, it was dark already.

A sudden knock landed on my door. Who must that be?

My thoughts asked.

The door opened slowly, revealing my mum. She was a calm woman, and I knew she was good at covering her pains, but this wasn't a theatre, neither were we her audience, because I could feel her face failing to smile.

Who knew the news she had brought to me this time?

"Please, leave us, Lily," she said, sitting at the edge of my bed while Lily bowed and left, making my emotions run high.

It was like a horror movie to me, and my only savior had just been ordered out. I could feel my body pushing itself back in fear while my mum leaned closer to touch me with her unripe smile.

Every touch of hers made my body tremble. I was fearful this time, crumpled like a ball.

I could never believe I was this flexible at wrapping around my own self, not till this moment.

Chapter 3 Mia's fear becomes truth

"My little princess," she forced a smile. Yet, she didn't finish whatever had brought her to my room.

She should say whatever she is there to say and stopped killing me with suspense!

My thoughts yelled at me.

My eyes didn't leave her lips, eager to see them part ways with what I already know flowing through every ounce of air that exuded from her mouth.

She faked a smile at me again. Her hands, which ran over my arms, sent goosebumps and chilling butterflies down my abdomen while I gulped hard.

"Your father has sent you on a beautiful journey," she didn't know how to tell me what was going on because I knew she was heartbroken too.

But she was so good at gulping her pains down, while I was not. But then, she gathered comfort to throw the bomb!

"Your husband-to-be just left. They will be here tomorrow...and I've been asked to prepare you for your new home!"

I rushed into her arms, enveloping her with a hug and letting out every emotion that came with my tears.

She rained tears with me too, and we both kept our hug, crying like some maltreated maidens in a Nollywood movie.

That night, I couldn't get over the thought of living with such a commanding man.

Lily's touches couldn't make me sleep anymore while I was on the bed; her tears continuously dropped on my cheek like a leaking tank dropping into a bucket of water.

We both slept and I woke up to a knock on the door. Lily was sleeping, she looks tired and I didn't want to disturb her.

So, I stood to get the door myself. Opening the door, other maidens stood with different materials to beautify me for the D-Day.

I slammed the door immediately, leaning against it with my back, and I crumpled to the floor. The bang of the door jolted Lily up, her gaze at me wondrous and quizzical.

"What is the matter this early morning?" I couldn't respond, but I guessed my reactions or silence spoke louder.

She was free with me, as if she was my elder sister. She quickly pulled me up and helped me sit on the bed.

Opening the door, the maids were still standing there, carrying those thought-exasperating materials, with their cheeks eager to leave their faces with smiles .

From the look of things, everybody in the castle was happy except me and my best friend, maid, Lily.

Yes, for my mother, I couldn't add her to the list because it was her husband's fault. She should be happy for her hubby's choice , congratulations to them; I didn't care.

I took off my clothes and walked into the bathtub, spread with rose flowers and sweet fragrance that made me feel like lying inside the water like it was a floating bed.

Lily stood and watched everything. Some maids focused on treating my hair with fragrant perfumes, oils, soaps and creams.

Others were at the soles of my feet, giving me some private, distinguished pedicures for VVIPs.

Other maids took care of my body and coochie, massaging, scrubbing, and picking out every ounce of unwanted hair they saw to keep me fresh for the diamond prince.

At that moment, I felt ecstatic, like I was in the midst of heavily built, sex-hungry monsters, dragging, fingering, sucking and teeth-teasing every part of my body for their sex gratification.

Sorry if I just made you tick, but to be more euphemistic, I felt like an African chicken being bathed with hundred-degrees hot water for Christmas or Easter celebrations.

They were all picking on me and cleaning up every part of my body like I've been ordered by someone, probably the twelve disciples for another last supper.

Each night that passed , I stood at the window of my room, gazing at the moon and stars to see if I could be comforted.

Lily, my best friend, made sure of giving every assistance she could to make me happy before I was married off to the promised land, and I couldn't thank her enough.

Just then, an idea struck my mind. I shared it with Lily, and it seemed like a dangerous one, but I was ready to take chances.

Lily immediately, on my order, saw to it.

It was a sunny morning. As I looked through the window, everywhere was colorful with balloons, candles, and other things that could make the castle colorful .

The castle's gate was wide open and the villagers walked in and out. There was enough to eat and drink, while I saw a high caliber of men and politicians exchanging pleasantries with my father.

Maidens arranged my mum's hair, some painted her nails. She was wearing all gold and looked bright.

So was my father, wearing the head of a lion as his crown : an insignia that signified his strength and durability in battles he had fought without getting a scratch.

Beautiful tones played, and people danced happily. What I didn't understand was why everyone was happy except me, who was supposed to be happy first.

But no one gives an effing care, right?

Suddenly, I heard the sound of a trumpet.

It seemed Jesus 'coming soon' was here now, with everyone wondrously looking around to see what was about to happen. I looked through the window.

Victor Rodriguez rode in on his magnificent horse, clothed with diamonds as it radiated.

His royalty procession was more than I had ever seen, not even my father's could beat his. Was he a king or what, to command such a glorified procession?

Two giant wolves led at the front, while other horses, not royally clothed like his, walked ahead, protecting him in the middle.

Arriving inside the palace, the horses parted ways, and the wolves lay down, making him stand tall amidst them.

Nobody could look at him for long because of the diamond-sun-radiating, rainbowish robe he was wearing.

The mat of rose flowers was quickly placed before his feet to walk into the castle.

I could feel my heart pounding now. I tried to stop it, but it wouldn't.

Lily hugged me tight to comfort me like it was going to be the last. Every little action from then on made me think and read in deep negative meanings.

Was it because I was tense?

I heard a knock on the door. My mum walked in, her face failing her while she slowly dropped to tears.

She kissed my forehead and covered the black veil on me. So she did to Lily as well.

"Take good care of my daughter for me, Lily," she said, hugging the both of us.

"Your husband-to-be will see you now," my mum said, waiting for me to move.

"Can we have a minute, Mum?" I requested, while my feet couldn't move.

The tension had gripped my feet on the floor, and I wanted to take in some air before leaving.

My mum left the room, unknowingly giving me the time to carry out what I had been patiently waiting for.
