Amelia's Billionaire

Amelia and Edward met in High school, she was a freshman and he was a senior. He used to drive and her best friend, Cynthia home from school everyday.

Amelia always loved the rides because it gave her time to stare at Edward's blue eyes from the rear view mirror. Edward will always state back and give her smirk which was their daily routine.

That was the begining of their love story. Edward and Amelia used to spend their break time together every single day.

Amelia will tell her mum she wanted to study at Cynthia's house and will end up in Edward's house. They were inseparable.

After graduation, Edward and Amelia did not find it necessary to keep their relationship a secret again. They would go out for walks and spend hours at the park having conversations.

This day Edward took her to a small park where they had their daily conversations and spend time together.

"Close your eyes, I have a surprise for you" he said

She did as he said and he pulled a box from his pocket going down on one knee and asked her to open her eyes.

" What are you doing Edward"

He looked up to her with a smile while opening the box with a ring inside

" Will you spend the rest of your life with me Amelia" he asked

Amelia was filled with excitement and she happily said "YES" without hesitation

Edward grabbed her by the waist and carried her up with excitement and gave her a kiss. They were both happy with the decision that they made.

Later that day, they both returned home. Amelia spoke to her mother about the acceptance of the proposal with fullness of joy but her mother seemed to be rather upset.

" What do you mean you said yes? Have you forgotten you are just 18 years of age?? How on earth do you know this is true love and not lust?? " Her mum asked.

Amelia was not expecting such response from her mum because she thought her mum will agree with her on the marriage.

" Mum I know you think I'm too young or I don't know what I'm doing but honestly, I love him. And I know that he loved me too".

Her mum stood up in rage

" What nonsense! There is no way you are getting married now, it's best you return the ring back to the owner and forget about that marriage!" and she left the room

Amelia broke down into tears and picked up her phone. She called Cynthia and explained everything to her. Cynthia was happy about the marriage but not about her mothers response about it. Cynthia assured her that it will be resolved in a matter of time.

The next day, Amelia met with Edward in their usual park with a long face

" Princess, Why the long face" he asked

She sadly told him everything her mother said concerning her getting married to Edward. He also was not expecting such a reply from her mum.

" My parents said they had no issue with the marriage, why is your mum being adamant "

Amelia looked at him with tears in her eyes as she began to cry. Edward embraced her patting her to stop crying.

" We will get married!" he angrily said

" How? My mother is completely against it"

He held her right cheek and looked her in her dark brown eyes

" I'll come up with something, just give me time. I promise"

Amelia was not still certain he could do anything to change her mum's mind but she did have little hope.

Edward approached his parents and told them he needed them to speak to Amelia's mum in order for the the to get married.

His parents did not seem so interested in what he said.

" Edward, I know you love Amelia so much but if her mother is not willing to let her go, why don't you let her go instead"

" Your mother his right" added his father

" I mean I will be more than happy to meet another girl you wish to marry"

" After all they are many fishes in the river" his father concluded.

This statement angered him so much and he went to his room and slammed the door.

" What can I do, what can i do?" He worriedly asked himself. He didn't want to let Amelia down after the assurance he had given to her already.

Edward thought since his parents had refused to help him speak to Amelia's mum, he would do it himself.

Amelia and her mum were in the parlour watching their favour series when they heard the doorbell.

" I'll get it" Amelia said

She opened the door and surprisingly saw Edward.

" You did not tell me you were coming. Is everything okay? You look a little bit stressed".

" Is your mum home" he ignored her questions and asked.

" Yes but.....before she could finish the sentence her barged in and went straight to meet her mother"

Her mum didn't seem so pleased with his arrival

" How may I help you" she asked

" Ma'am I'm here to seek your daughters hand in marriage "

Amelia's mum looked at Edward and gave Amelia a look that made her scared

" If I am not mistaken Amelia must have told you my response to that already".

" Yes she did but I do not seem to be conformable with that decision ma'am. That's why I'm here to let you know that I truly love Amelia and I want to marry her".

Amelia's mum was angry and immediately walked Edward out of the house and asked him never to return again. All Amelia could do was cry.

She look at Amelia with disappointment and went back to continue the series she was watching. Amelia left the parlour in pain to her room to cry.

Just when she was about to call Edward, his text came in saying

"Meet me at the park, I have an idea to get us married".

Amelia was eager to know Edwards plan and immediately left her house. When she got to the park she met Edward sitting and waiting for her. She walked towards him and asked

" I don't know what your plan is yet but I don't think there is anything that can convince my mother at this point "

" There's no need to worry about that because she doesn't have to know"

" What do you mean by she doesn't have to know, we obviously need her consent to get married "

" Amelia look at it from a perspective that doesn't involve her, what if we run away together "

Amelia paused and sat straight up with shock

" Run away? Where too? How will we start our lives again? Who do we know in this place we will run too?" She rushed Edward with this questions

" Calm down and I'll answer your questions one by one, okay?"

She relaxed and said she was listening.

" During my childhood days we mostly visited New York City and I still have memories about that place and where we could start from"

Amelia seemed pleased with that response

" But we will need lots of money to get an apartment and other things "

" I also have that covered, my parents have this account they've been saving money for Incase of any emergency and I have full access to the account "

Amelia found it has a wrong way to get a solution for monetary means

" But what if they eventually need the money? What then Edward"

" Trust me, they won't, we have been living fine and haven't even made use of the money in the account. I need you to trust me for use to make this plan work, please Amelia "

She look at Edward and saw that he truly meant what he was saying so she agreed.

They explained everything to Cynthia and she agreed to the plan.

They eloped to New York City and began a total new life there. Eugene, a lawyer who was Edwards close friend in College showed the around and gave them a cheap place where they could stay till they are able to get a lot of money.

Edward took her to the church were his family used to worship and got the married. They were happy that they had finally gotten together and no one could separate them.

They both became fond of NYC and started to adapt. Edward got a job at a small firm with the Architecture that he had learned over the time.

Amelia got a job in helping to sell estates. They both did this so they could be able to earn a living.

Edward always loved to talk about architecture, it was his dream to be able to build his own house and start his own firm but they were not financially capable of this dream.

Once the got both got back from their jobs they would spend the rest of the day together.

Edward was working on one of his project at home when Amelia hugged him from behind and gently rubbing his chest

" Don't you think you should have a break now?" She whispered in his ear

Edward smiled, put down his pencil and turned to carry Amelia up giving her a twirl in the air. She laughed and he carefully laid her on the bed while staring at her and used his middle finger to run her thighs.

Just as he was about to continue the phone rang. It was Eugene who called.

Edward went to pick the phone and Eugene told him there was a project he heard of that could fetch them money.

Edward was immediately attentive. He the continued by saying that people are been opportuned to build houses and stand a chance to win $600. This offer was definitely what they both need. He thanked Eugene and ended the call.

He explained everything to Amelia and they were excited. Amelia was so sure they could win because Edward was a very good architect.

" Wait, but where will we get the money to build the house" Amelia asked

" We just need to start working harded to earn more so we could start "

" I agree but like how much will you need to build the house"

" About $200" he replied

"$200???? We barely even have enough to eat, how on earth will we get $200.

" We could take a loan from the bank and when we win we will pay them back"

Amelia was okay with the plan and they headed to the bank the next morning.

" With your source of income and estimated time for payment $200 will be to much to lend out to you." The manager said.

" So how much can we get? Edward asked.

"$150 he replied

They both looked at each other and sighed

" We will accept it " Amelia said

Documents were arranged and they got the money. They went home and brainstormed on how they could get the remaining $50. Amelia suggested that they gave Eugene a call if he could have anything in mind that could help.

Eugene told them about a high-stakes poker game hosted by a wealthy businessman named Andrew Williams.

They saw it as a chance for them to be able to earn the extra $50 they needed.

Later that night they headed out to the poker game with the hope that they could be able to earn even more than they need.

When they got to the game center, they saw a lot of people in different areas staking their bets to win money.

" Here goes nothing" Edward said

They proceeded to make their first bet with $3, the put their bet on black and when the die rolled out it stopped at red. They had lost the first bet and Amelia was already worried.

" The next one will be ours" Edward said trying to comfort her while placing his arm around her neck.

Edward noticed she was still feeling down and decided to place the rest of the money with red all at once.

" Are you crazy? Do you want us to loose all the money left at once?" She angrily asked Edward

" Babe, I have a good feeling about this one"

"At least if you want to do it, put it all on black"

Edward refused.

" It's time to place your final bets!" called out the man in charge

Amelia tightly held Edward's hand hoping that it will land on red. She closed her eyes and prayed for a miracle to happen. The die started rolling slowly and was about to stop.

" And it has landed!" Said the man but she was to afraid to open her eyes.

Before she opened her eyes, she felt Edward's hand slowly moving from hers.

"I am so so sorry " Edward said

She opened her eyes and saw the die had landed on black. She angrily removed her hands from Edward's hands and left his sight.

" Amelia! Amelia! Please wait"

She had already joined the crowd and he couldn't see her again. He rubbed his hand aggressively on his head saying

"What a fool I am! I should have listened to her "

Amelia wandered off in the center just to get her head cleared up for a while only for her to notice a store with beautiful dresses.

She walked into the store and noticed the sales girl there was attending to some customers.

She admired the gowns she saw there but she knew they were to expensive for her to afford. She noticed a tray with chocolates kept for customers on a table and tried one of them.

Just as she ate one, a man dressed in a Black suit with his colleagues were just standing outside the store noticed her beauty and it caught his attention.

She liked the chocolate and decided to slide some into her purse. She looked around to see if anyone saw her and noticed this man standing outside was staring at her.

He smiled at her and she smiled back. She then continued admiring the dresses and saw a black gown with red petals. She picked up the dress and sized it on her body while facing the mirror. She really loved the dress.

" Why don't you put it on, it suits you" said the man

She looked up at him and said nothing

" My name is Andrew Williams"

She was surprised that the man who owned the poker games was standing right in front of her and was talking to her.

" I can't afford it" she replied

" That's too bad! I really this you ought to have the dress, let me buy it for you."

" You want to buy me this dress?" She asked surprisingly

"Yes"

"Why"

" I really enjoyed watching you, you've earned it".

"No I haven't. The dress is for sale, I'm not.

"I insist!"

" Thank you so much for the offer but that will not be necessary"she said as she left the store.

He smiled and looked at her as she left hoping that one day he will be able to see her again.

Just as she came out of the store she saw Edward sitting opposite her direction. She walked up to him and he stood up and hugged her.

" I am so so sorry about what happened"

" It's fine, we will probably just try our luck next time" she replied

They sat there for a while and watched people play. They found watching people play entertaining and interesting. Just as they were about to leave the center, they noticed people leaving each areas and joing a crowd.

" Should we check it out" asked Amelia

" Let's go then" he replied

They were able to get a spot in front and saw about 5 men all suited and seated up.

"Who is that guy?" Edward asked a random man in the crowd as he noticed people seem to have attention on him. Amelia knew who he was and was starting to feel uncomfortable.

" That's Andrew Williams. He's a damn billionaire. He's down over a million dollars already. You see the little gold things he playing with? $10,000 a piece!"

Edward realized he's the owner of the poker game and got more interested.

"Let's leave this place " Amelia said

"C'mon, let's just stay for a little while then we will leave" he said as he gave her a kiss on her forehead.

Amelia agreed but she tried to make sure she didn't have an eye contact with Andrew.

The game had started and Andrew had lost $100 already.

" Imagine we had that money he just lost, we would be able to have our house done in no time" Edward said

Amelia was about to respond back to him when she received a text message on her phone. Edward noticed she was awkwardly silent and asked her if she was good.

She look up to him sadly and said " I've lost my job!"

Edward was shocked by this statement Amelia said.

" How? Did you do anything wrong??" He asked

"The real estate market had dried up so they had to close down leaving all employees without a job".

Edward saw how upset she was.

" Should we still stay to keep you entertained or you want us to head back home for you to get enough rest?" He asked

" I think it's time we head home"

" Wait!" Andrew said as they were about to leave

They both turned back and Edward asked " Us?"

" Yes, can you lend me your wife?" Andrew asked.
