CHAPTER 1: SOLD.
"GO GET DRESSED, YOU'RE ABOUT TO BE SOLD!" The words stung my ears. I could feel my heart lurching with fear, striking wagers into the depth of my heart. I was petrified as I gazed over at the figure in front of me, my foster father, Mr. Hutchinson.
I knew all too well that he had developed a high amount of hate towards me. His high-profile figure stood firmly in front of me, sending shivers down my spine, and fear taking reign. I whimpered in fear, lashes crashing down in submission.
His devilish grin rigging his expression, his eyes displaying a wrath of hatred. His cackle resonated through my ears, the words echoing against the inner walls of my ears. My nerves stretched taut as my face transformed into a mask of sweat.
As I tried to reason why I was being sold, Mr. Hutchinson drew his hand back and delivered a hot slap across my cheeks. The warmth of his flesh radiated through my bones, my nerves jangled as I winced out.
Dragging me up by my thin arms, he caught my chin and pressed it tightly. My wolf whimpered in loss as I pushed with all my might, but he was too strong.
I cried out in pain and confusion, tears streaming down my face as my father laughed cynically. "Ever since I had adopted you, you had been nothing but a mischievous Brut, not yet mated, still stagnant and disgusting," he said chidingly.
I was astounded and confused by the news that I was to be sold to Alpha Garrett, the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack. The Alpha was feared by all for his cruel nature. My father knew how much I craved adventure and used it against me.
His long, thick fingers gripped my arms as he slammed the door open, my feet gliding roughly on the floor. Shivers crept into my bloodstream as I stepped inside, my head swiftly falling in submission before Alpha Garrett.
I had always seen a lady in my dreams, telling me that I was powerful. I had always felt my powers, but I was too meek to voice them out. I knew Alpha Garrett would never love me, nor any man. I was alone with my thoughts and feelings, my power hidden away.
Alpha Garrett's stature was commanding and harsh, taking my breath away, fear enveloping my senses. I bowed down to him, feeling his aura engulf me.
As I left the room, I felt chained up, like a prisoner in my own thoughts. My power lurking beneath, waiting to be unleashed.
"Your majesty!" I heard my father's cold voice as it resounded in the little living room. Then I heard the clip-clap of leather against the floor as my gaze seeped through lustrous lashes to gaze at his footwear. It seemed to have been made of expensive leather- one that had a shiny surface. I watched as his shoes glided in my direction, I felt cold locking my senses as it multiplied in ten folds. My nose, a barrel of smells, differentiated from the smell of alcohol, as a fragrance hit me and seeped into my nose whistling mockingly.
The smell, I'd deduced, seemed to be of a richly intoxicating fragrance. His smell was to be explained with two words, woody and dangerously seductive. I felt that linger in my heart as this voracious beast walked up to me. My heart gripped with fear as I watched his shoe halt in his scary stride.
I felt cold fingers landing on my chin as the fingers raised my chin, I had no other choice than to follow the commands. My neck shook as it raised slowly, my head now straightened as I looked straight in his direction. I observed Alpha Garrett with a close gaze, from a close range one could have thought the effect of his face hadn't diminished a single whit. If anything, the impact of the strong, angular planes, decidedly patrician nose, his lips, long, thin and provocatively mobile were now even more pronounced.
His hair was indeed golden brown, thick and wavy enough to form large locks; the rest of him I now had decided it was wise rather not to notice. I caught his gaze, hot and piercing indeed, I turned it right before he could speak.
"Turn around." I heard his thick voice as turned slowly for him to see my body. I could see clearly that he was shocked at my curvaceous body.
"I will take her." He declared with an authoritative tone, striking vipers into the atmosphere. I looked at him from the corner of my eyes, he had that cold look, his eyes were devoid of emotions, I could hear vividly the chuckling which came from my father. My father began with a hushed tone, "You've never made me so proud."
Now I felt sadness welling in me, I felt like crying, but the tears just didn't flow out of my eyes. My dad is a jerk, and will always be, he thinks he can sell me out to Alpha Garrett just because I was not useful to him. He hated my cravings for adventure, but he didn't know that I had developed a magical power, one I still couldn't tame.
It had started with a twitch in my muscles, and before I knew it, crystal red balls loomed above my hands. I am going to defend myself with this power- this power I still haven't tamed.
I turned to my father with rage swamping with the long awoken anger in my heart, a shiver caught at the base of my neck. Likewise, I fiddled with my head and inhaled the cold air which coursed into my nostrils. I exercised my muscles as I tried to wake up my powers.
I felt a shallow cut from within me, my head ached severely as a dark burn took reign in my eyes, I felt a stronger power relinquishing its hold on me. Darkness howled as I felt black surfaces looming out of my palms as it formed a huge crystal ball atop my palms.
The look of fear which was on my father's face wasn't to be overlooked, he yelled out as several men, who were securities to Alpha Garrett, stood up and charged in my direction. I was about to throw one of the balls in the direction of my father when a massive metal hit me from behind, I could sense that whoever had hit me had the aim of making me to fall. I turned back as my bones made a sound, pain seeped into it as I faced whoever had done that.
It was one of the security men of Alpha Garrett. I turned at him with anger as an unknown force arose from within me, I felt my legs leaping into the air as flames came out from nowhere, whirling around me. I looked at Alpha Garrett, he looked shocked and was feared as he leapt back. I looked down in the room, my father was now standing beside the security men, I aimed at them as I threw one of the mighty crystal balls at them as I heard a blast, my eyes jammed close as I turned and threw the other ball in the direction of the wooden wall as it broke. I could hear as they choked on shaky breaths, their voices almost reaching a crescendo.
Then.
Everything calmed as I felt the force seeping away from me, everything now calmed down as the hate I had towards them now calmed. Before I knew it, I crashed into the ground and hit my hands on the rough ground as I felt a tear and blood poured out from the cut.
"Get her!" Alpha Garrett roared.
I stood and ran off- off to wherever my legs would lead me to.
CHAPTER 2
ALPHA GARRETT'S POV
I watched from the corners of my eyes at the scene I still couldn't believe was being displayed. Right before my very eyes was Ariadne, the girl I was about to buy, as she turned into a witch before everyone. Now, I felt fear seeping into my bones as I tried to shrug it off, but it lingered. Now, she was aiming at us with those crystal balls, I watched as she threw them in our direction, I immediately leapt in a direction just to avoid being hit by those demonic balls floating atop her palms.
I could hear shaky voices from one of my security men who had been hit with the ball, I observed as he winced out In severe pain, I watched as his veins turned dark, his skin reddened right before my eyes as he choked for a second and died. I watched with keen interest as she threw the other ball at the wall. The wall cracked open as woods went in different directions, the house shook as if it were going to collapse.
Then she crashed into the ground and those flames disappeared, now I can tell that she has lost power and that is what we need. I need to capture her and make her mine, my Luna. With a power like this, I could rule all the entire werewolves on this continent, no one would be able to stand up to me in battle since they know of my Luna. Her power had piqued my interest, it had now played with my curiosity.
I gazed from beneath my lashes as I swung my gaze over to Ariadne, who was running into the woods. My eyes lit up with urgency as I stood up from where I had fallen.
"Get her!" I bawled loudly as my guards all ran after her as she ran off. Soon they were already out of sight. I turned over to Me Hutchinson, her father, who seemed to be shaking like a winter leaf.
"Don't you know that your daughter possessed that demonic power?" I asked, with my face already a warrior's mask. I arched my brow as I watched as Mr. Hutchinson opened his lips to speak, "No I didn't, she had been really creepy during her childhood, but I didn't know that she possessed demonic powers."
"So what you're telling me now is that you don't know." I mused and turned over to him as he bopped his head with fright. "Since she is your daughter, don't you know where she could have gone to hide from my soldiers." I queried as Mr. Hutchinson began to search for answers.
"I think I know where she can be." he volunteered, and I said, "then let's head on to the place."
I helped the man in getting up as I followed him, and we walked side by side into this forest I didn't know centered their house. We jumped from the house down to the floor through the broken wall Ariadne had broken thanks to those crystal balls. I still couldn't believe there was such power- a power so mighty it could kill me. I wondered of what magic she could be using, one could have seen from those crystal balls that she was using dark magic.
We went crossing dark paths, Mr. Hutchinson led me to a woody path, I dipped my hands in my pockets and cut the woods which blocked our entrance into the corner. As we walked, I could sense that people of a gathering was here. Some scents were familiar while some were unfamiliar, I stride courteously as Mr. Hutchinson followed me slowly.
I cleared a leaf as we arrived at a gathering of my guards. They all looked tired. I was a fool to have trusted them with pursuing Ariadne and bringing her in her back to me. I could see the look on their faces, they looked at me with sad and frightened looks.
Luke, my chief in command who directed my guards, had spoken first, "We are sorry, Alpha Garrett."
He said and bowed down with respect. "We lost her." His words crashed into me unexpectedly, I now lost all hopes finally. Just when I had found Ariadne, they had made me to lose a jewel, a priceless jewel. One that could make my pack the most powerful pack in the entire continent, one that would make me the most highly revered Alpha, one that will add to my power.
With aggravation, I leapt in his direction and placed a slap across Luke's face as he crashed down into the floor. I felt an urge to place my fist on his red vacuous face, but now wasn't the time- the time to deal with Luke, the time to regret, the time to blame my guards for this mistake.
Now was the time to look for Ariadne, my newly founded chosen.
"Let's go." I said as we all went in a direction as I heard some murmurings from behind me as I turned to Mr. Hutchinson.
"I think I know where she might be," he chided softly as a smile rigged his expression. I smiled back, hoping that his idea would lead us to where Ariadne had hidden herself in these woods.
Before I could speak back, darkness revolved around the earth as suddenly clouds darkened as thunder roared, glancing up, I saw thunderstorms sweeping in from the west. My eyes glistened in alarm, one glance at the rolling clouds growing like a celestial tidal wave as my spine stiffened, my gaze roved keenly on my surrounding.
My heart raced as I frantically straightened my head, leaning my gaze on the dark clouds. I turned to Mr. Hutchinson, who nodded back.
"We have to go there before the storm starts." I yelled out loud as he nodded in submission. He ran, cutting through a bush as we all leapt in his direction.
The wind now howled with power, rain whispered of its incoming visit. I veered in a direction as we glided off in a final direction. A scent now seeped from beyond a bush close to me, the bush wasn't any type of bush, it was a thorn bush. I could sense that she was already near as my gaze seeped through the bush to the other part and there I saw Ariadne trying to jump from a tree to another part.
"We have to go get her quick" my wolf commanded, I followed the tone as I leapt up and jumped so high. I felt gravity drawing me down, down into the thorn bush. I fought trying to leap further- further to the other side, but I crashed into the throne bush. Likewise, I felt thorns prickling into my body as pain ensued, it coursed right into my bones as I winced out in pain. Likewise, I felt the thorn bush slowly consuming me as I looked at Ariadne.
Likewise, I can't risk loosing her at this point.
With the little strength I could gather, I jumped out of the thorn bush, shuffling toward the treed Ariadne was.
"There she is," I mumbled with my breath in puffs. I watched as she jumped higher in the direction of another tree, when I jumped up with urgency and gripped her foot in the air and dragged it roughly as we both crashed into the hard soil.
I felt her fall on me and the warm feel of her flesh felt mine, I inhaled in her scent, she smelt seductively enticing. Likewise, I felt an urge within me, an urge to mate her and mark her as my own.
Likewise, I saw the others as they cut through the thorn bush with various equipment as they rushed up to us. Likewise, I raised and also helped Ariadne up, as I mused with a glow in my eyes, "Now let's head back to my pack house."
CHAPTER 3
ARIADNE'S POV
"Now let's head back to my pack house." I heard Alpha Garrett's deep, velvety voice. I fought to catch up with my unsteady breathing as my heart roared in my chest. I gasped out as he gazed at me. I threw my head in another direction with the hope of him looking somewhere else, but his gaze stood firmly on me. I felt the quality of his gaze- hot and piercing indeed
Alpha Garrett really seemed to be the smart, cunning person he was rumored to be, he had followed right here in my hideout. No one, not even my father, knew my hideout, but he had just fetched me out with ease. I looked at the security, who leapt in my direction as they approached me with handcuffs.
What the hell, why would they handcuff me when I had done nothing wrong? The reason for the handcuff was staring right at me, they were scared that I would use my demonic powers again. My powers were not to be called demonic, they were of a pure power I knew I was born with, ever since I clocked eighteen, I had experienced an unknown zeal of power in me. But back then I was isolated, isolation was the usual punishment I received from my father whenever I angered him.
I would sit myself and test my powers and one day the power had taken full charge and one of those crystal balls had spoiled my room's window. Ever since I found out about my powers, I have been training them right from that moment up to now, and I still couldn't wield my powers properly. Back at the house, I didn't expect my powers to work before the Alpha, but they had worked just when I needed them to. I felt the clattering of metal as my hands were cuffed, my hair which I had packed in a tight french bun got loose as my hair freed and scattered in waves. I tried to gaze - gaze at him, but my hair had not given me the permission to do so, I flipped my head in a direction to let some hair part, but the strands turned out to be an obstruction blocking my view, I blew my hair with the little breeze that exceeded my lips as strands separated, giving me the view I wanted.
Likewise, I saw Alpha Garrett, the back view of his head sent a cold shiver down my spine. I tried again and again to free myself from the handcuffs locking my hands. Rage stumped into my mind, I can't just sit here and watch as I am about to be taken hostage by him.
I opened my lips and shot out at Alpha Garrett, "Leave me alone, Alpha Garrett, I am not your property."
He turned swiftly as his hot gaze darted at me, I felt a cold sensation locking through me, it sprouted, growing bigger and bigger in me. Fear took effects on me as my head fell down, I watched as he glided towards me, nearer and nearer. His long fingers curled across my chin as it raised, my neck bone made a twitch as my neck shook as it raised slowly, my head now straightened as I looked straight in his direction. I observed Alpha Garrett with a close gaze, his face was in a warrior's mask.
He smirked coldly. "It's better we have you handcuffed, who knows when that demonic power will awake." He uttered coldly with his expression devoid of emotions.
"What demonic power? It is the one same power I used to defend myself, it is not called demonic, it is called white magic?" I hurled as her lips ran nonstop.
"Be it white magic or dark magic, I don't care at this point!" he shouted at me as I stayed put. I knew it was wiser not to continue to argue with him as a voice chimed from behind me, "Let's go, ma'am."
I felt a light push as I went on as we navigated out of this forest. I could hear that jerk of a man I called my father as he spoke to Alpha Garrett. I could hear the distant chattering, he had talked about how he had adopted me from an orphanage and how I'd amazed him with my birthmark which was a cross at the ridge of my neck. I listened attentively as he spoke all about my childhood to Alpha Garrett, who listened with keen interest.
The rest of the walk out of the forest was quiet, the chattering stopped, and the wind seemed to have cleared off as we arrived at the front of my demolished house.
"You can come and live with us in the pack house until your house is rebuilt in a finer model." Alpha Garrett chided. My father nodded sheepishly in agreement, I know he would be happy right now since he now had relation with the Alpha of our pack, the red ice pack.
"And for you Ariadne, you will be released only when you promise solely to not try to run away or try to use your powers against us." He declared as his words trailed into the air.
"I promise." I gave up as a guard walked behind me, and I heard the clattering of metal as my hands were freed. I felt blood flow back in to my fingers as Alpha Garrett walked close to me, I took my hands with a swift movement as he led me in the direction of a chariot which was painted red with golden designs all over. Atop it was a sign formed with gold, that sign was the sign of the red ice pack. He opened the door of the chariot and gestured to me to climb.
I entered the chariot and inhaled in the rosy air freshening fragrance, I looked down at Alpha Garrett, he looked back at me as he closed the door.
"I'll follow another chariot." he said simply and turned as I whiffed in some air into my lungs. Now was the time for a setback, the only reason I had agreed to Alpha Garrett's conditions was just because I had plans to run away. I couldn't run away with handcuffs on, so I needed to make him feel as If I agreed just to be freed. I looked beyond the glass as Alpha Garrett entered a chariot, one I was sure my father was inside, as the rider kicked the two horses tied to the chariot as the chariot moved.
After they went, the chariot I was in now began to move slowly as I adjusted to the slow movement of the chariot. I dipped my hands into my pockets and brought out my pocket dagger, that was for if any guard tried to stop me in my way. My plan now was not to run off into the woods as I had done earlier, if I did that, he will fetch me out within the blink of an eye.
No.
I am going to flee the entire pack and go somewhere different, like the Cold moon pack, where Alpha Garrett wouldn't be able to reach to. There, I would start a new life entirely, bear a new name and probably live my life to the fullest. I jolted back from my thoughts as I stretched my hands and opened the chariot door after some close investigation to know whether no one was watching as I opened the chariot door and jumped out into the open.
I looked back at the chariot, it went on, still unaware of my jump. Likewise, I looked around me, darkness revolved around me, but through the darkness I could navigate.
"I am going to flee this pack and no one will stop me." I said to myself as I gripped my pocket dagger tighter and glided off into the darkness.
