Chapter 1
Subtitle: Kylynn Lionel
Staring out of the car window was a usual thing an eight year old Kylynn would do.
Usually she gets to ride with her parents in their old wagon to pick up her older brother from highschool.
It was already evening as the old rusty car sped steadily across the busy streets just across the busy gate of the school Flynn attends.
As her father crossed the busy road after making sure his course was somehow clear the little girl was too kind of the outside world much more than she was of what was going on inside the car.
Her parents, however frantic, were yet on another phase of their usual dubious arguments, not minding if there is an eight year old in the car with them, listening to their conversation.
As her father packed at an empty spot in front of the public school she could clearly hear her mother yelling at the top of her lungs, trying to get her father to agree with her on something.
"No shut up George! Are you going to keep denying the fact that you've been railing that b*tch?"
Her voice was loud and deep, and it somewhat creeps Kylynn out to the fact that her parents would never stop fighting over something baseless.
Who was the b*tch her mother was talking about?
Whoever she was it must be really nice for her to visibly control her parents like morons and make them fight each other constantly.
"Ack Nancy stop being so delusional will you? Your jealousy is really getting on my nerves if you don't know yet!
I talk to my colleague for a minute or two and you start accusing me of having an affair? This is freaking me out!"
He snapped back at her.
Kylynn was tired of their rantings and constant arguments so without them noticing she quietly opened the door to the old car and quietly slipped out of the car unnoticed. Her parents were too busy fighting each other, each of them wanting to dominate the other with his voice.
Without the two adults noticing the child had already opened the car door and stole out of the car as quietly as possible.
Walking across the open road was a clear free Kylynn who clutched tightly to the little wooden figurine she had in her palm. The speedy honking or the incoming sports car came unnoticed to the little girl, the driver was fortunate to quickly avert sharply to the side nearly avoiding the little girl from getting run down by the poach car.
The car screamed and screeched to a halt just a few meters away from her and the little girl jumped in fright falling on her arse.
She was frightened and clutched nervously to her little figurine as tears slipped out of her large blue eyes, passerbys where begin to notice the little girl seated on the floor and the car parked just a few meters from her.
The door to the sports car flung open and out came a neatly dressed woman with long slender legs.
The little girl curled up in a ball as she watched the woman walk towards her in a haste, just seconds after the woman left the car the second door flung open and a boy came out. He looked similar to the woman because of his wild height.
" Goodness lad, are you okay?"
The woman asked and gently bent over to scoop the little girl from the floor.
The little girl was stubborn and sat quietly in her place, refusing to leave the floor.
The tall boy has now closed up to the two.
"Is she an okay mother?"
The tall boy asked.
"She won't talk. Poor wee thing most be frightened,"
"Wherever are you parents, kid?"
The woman looked worried, she helped Kylynn wipe the tears off her cheeks and tried to help her up from the floor, she was still stubborn and would not move.
"Let me.."
The tall boy told his mother.
He quietly bent towards the little girl and reached out to her with his hands spread out.
Kylynn knew she was a little bit small for an eight year old, she did not complain though.
The little girl looked puzzled, the boy was adamant as he let out a fierce smile that looked funny... So funny that Kylynn couldn't resist laughing gracefully at how cute and funny the boy looked while faking a smile. She noticed his curly red hair that packed in a messy ponytail just behind his hint. The hair was not so long so some of it let loose and fell freely over his face covering his dark brown eyes from view... Not unless he flips the hair aside at intervals to have a clear view.
He looked tall and well built, just about the same age as her elder brother Flynn... Was he a classmate to her brother?
The little girl wondered... However she found him sort of cute.
"You look funny."
The little girl said as she placed her hands on his palm and allowed him to draw her up from the floor with ease.
The boy smiled at her this time around, it was genuine.
"Good girl... Are you hurt?"
He asked.
"I'm fine.."
She whispered... But he could hear her and she needed not to repeat what she just said.
"Good."
The mother was puzzled... Since when was her son so good with kids? It was new.
She watched with awe as he walked up to her and gently removed the little figure hair clip that was attached to her hair.
"What're...."
She watched as he walked back to the girl and gently attached it to the little girl's hair.
She giggled and touched the clip on her hair.
" Kai... You little brat, why did you leave the car?"
Her mother's chilly voice swelled through her ears as soon as she made to thank the tall boy for the little gift.
"I... I went out to get Flynn's mother.... It was too loud in the car."
The eight year old replied sincerely, her mother looked worried as she saw the little crowd gathered around her daughter.
"You shouldn't let the little one wander around on her own like this. We nearly ran her down.
Hopefully she is okay."
The woman said to the girl's mother.
Nancy was not pleased.
"Kai is not little... She knows how to cross the road pretty fine, she is just stubborn at times."
The mother replied.
Nancy and the woman do not seem to like each other and the two exchanged a few more tussled words before the tall red haired woman whisked away her cute tall son after apologizing to Kylynn and Nancy earnestly.
They drove away in their sleek sports car.
"Go sit in the car with your father!"
The mother was upset and she was stern as she spoke to her daughter.
Kylynn understood she was in deep trouble walking back was best for her.
As she sat in the car her father didn't even look at her, annoyance was the first thing she noticed in his face and it seems he was just too embarrassed to stare at her.
It didn't take long before Nancy returned with Flynn who had his skateboard clutched to his armpit. The two got in the car and the father hit the road.
The arguments soon resumed and Kylynn was glad it did because Nancy soon forgot the fact Kylynn that she just messed up a while ago.
Flynn was busy with his book.
Kylynn couldn't help but stare at her little hair clip, it had the figure of a magnificently carved wolf on it.
It looked gorgeous.
The next few days were hell for Kylynn at home, her mother won't stop nagging and fighting her father and when he couldn't handle it anymore he hit her.
A potential road to a divorce opened up and half a year later Kylynn watched as her mother took off, leaving her and Flynn behind.
The little girl cried and asked for her mother through sleepless nights giving her father and brother a hard time taking care of her.
Two years later her father remarried.
The woman was beautiful and kind. Kylynn warmed up to her at once.
She had been longing for a mother figure for a long time and was glad to have one.
Her brother however felt the opposite about the new mother they hard, he hated her.
He had just gotten into a decent college and when his father refused to send off his new wife at Flynn's demand he soon took off, just like his mother did.
Leaving behind his little sister to his father and new wife to take care of.
He never returned, well not until six years later when their father got really Ill and passed away.
He swung by for his father's burial and had a few words with his sister who was now a teenager, still small and little for the age of seventeen.
Flynn was older and now worked at a big tech company as a manager, Kylynn found out during the little catching up she had with her brother.
He was now tall and well built.
He now had a fiance and promised to bring her to meet his little sister sometime.
Although Kylynn was angry at her brother for abandoning her like their mother she was still grateful he was fine and still came back to see her, not like her mother who she never heard from again.
Chapter two : never saw her pants.
The feeling of the cool breeze hit Kylynn as she rode through the empty road of the suburbs.
It felt great when the cold wind hit her scalp, especially on a hot day.
She had just gotten her black bike fixed at the mechanic village a few blocks away from the catering school she attends and was on her way back home.
"Nice baby! Nice.."
She laughed at how nice the engine of her bike sounded, it felt good to finally ride it after a month .
The black bike was a birthday gift she got from her older brother Flynn when she turned eighteen.
The moment she learnt how to ride it she has never departed from it, unless it was faulty and needed repair.
She's been riding her little baby for two years now, to and fro from the suburbs where she lived to town where she attends her catering classes.
It was a great help and companion.
As she accelerated the speed of the bike her dark long hair flew here and there, some covering her face and making it hard for her to see, she slowed down.
She seldom rides without her helmet since the roads in the suburb are always quiet and the police rarely patrol around them.
She is a good rider so it's easy for her to ride around without it.
As she rode through the familiar block that was just a few miles away from her home she stepped on the brakes and came to a halt in front of the small gate.
"Is he even home?"
She thought to herself as she got down from the bike and locked it, then she dropped the keys into her sling bag and walked over to the gates.
She quietly inserted the passcode to the gate and it opened shortly.
She ran across the small road that was guarded on both sides by small lawns.
Javier's dog Stella barked at her as she ran towards the door.
"Sup stella?"
She halted to rub the dog's hair for a while before continuing on her way towards the door.
Javier and she had been dating for half a year and he was a sweet soul. His family owns a big chain of factories here and there and so he was from a wealthy family.
The house is his and he often works for his father's factory in the city, although he has his own company where he deals in cars.
Such a rich kid she's gotten under her palm.
As she inserted the passcode to the door and stepped in the first thing she saw was a female booth laying casually at the nap of the door.
Was he with someone?
"Javier?"
Her voice was a little bit shaky as she walked deeper into the sitting room.
There was no one there and the place was as quiet as anything.
She ran up the stairs and it took her a while to reach his room.
She didn't hesitate to open the door to the master's bedroom and walked in.
Despite being his girlfriend for quite a while she's only been to this house three times, she doesn't even stay for long and leaves right away.
She took her time to look around the room but still couldn't find him.
"Is he not home?"
She asked no one in particular as she ran down the stairs once more.
She rounded up her thoughts with the fact that he might have left the house for work and was not in at the moment.
She decided to leave.
As she ran across the living room and made for the door she suddenly heard voices... Laughter.
It was not a male voice though.
Was someone else in the house?
The voice was coming from the kitchen and she didn't hesitate to run towards the kitchen.
She had always had a sharp hearing and vision sense ever since she turned ten so it was not strange that she could hear the voice from the living room even though the kitchen was quite far from where she stood.
She quietly opened the kitchen door and stepped in.
Javier jerked away from the lady that was pinned on the kitchen island as soon as he saw her.
He was naked and so was the lady.
Kylynn stared at the two in horror, from Javier to the lady who looked familiar.
"Isn't that Lyra?"
She asked no one in particular as she walked further into the room.
The lady rolled her eyes and took her gown from the floor, putting it on.
"Hello Kylynn.."
Kyra sneered.
She and Kylynn go to the same catering academy and Kylynn could swear she was not the type to sleep with someone's boyfriend.
She just doesn't look like the type to do such a thing.
"What are you doing here Kai?"
Javier asked as he pulled up his jeans and tried to put on his shirt.
Even a child could tell he was panicking.
Kylynn was just too shocked that she didn't know whether she wanted to cry or laugh.
Her face was expressionless.
"Am I not allowed to come visit my boyfriend anymore? Or is it the fact that you two are busy f-king? Is she your other girlfriend? Your secret girlfriend?"
Kylynn asked as she leaned her hands on the table besides her, staring at the two as they put on their clothes.
"Oh your the secret girlfriend not her Kai. At Least she behaves like a real girlfriend unlike you.... You won't let me touch you, you are always too busy to hang out with me and I only get to see you once in a while what do you think I am? A priest?"
Javier ranted, Kylynn widened her eyes in shock and stared at him, he soon realised his mistake and tried touching her, she swat his hands away.
Even though Javier cheated with Lyra he actually liked Kylynn... But the girl was just too stubborn and reserved, his manly needs got the best of him and so he knocked Lyra up.
"I'm sorry Kai I didn't mean to yell at you.... Look, can we talk?"
He asked in a mild voice trying to touch her again. The girl shifted away from him.
"I really liked you Javier... You were the first boyfriend I ever had and I thought the two of us had something special... Yes I was scared of getting Intimate with you because who wouldn't? You were older, richer and more civilized than me but atleast I'm not stupid. I knew one day this will happen and thank the stars you've never seen the color of my underwear not to think of seeing what's underneath it."
Kai was now finding the strength to laugh.
"Since I'm the secret girlfriend it won't be a bad thing If I step out of the picture so you could flaunt your real girlfriend would it?"
She paused.
"Huh Lyra?"
"Kai come on.. don't do this.... Please.."
Javier begged, his face was full of sweat already.
"We are over Javier."
She muttered and turned to leave.
She suddenly stopped and turned to stare at him one last time.
"And when you go bragging to your friends about cheating on your secret girlfriend I hope you'll save me some dignity and tell them you've never been in my pants."
She said.. within a minute she was out of the house.
It was already raining as she rode at a very high speed, this time with her helmet on so as to protect her from the blasting rain that would rail her face into bits if she doesn't.
She drove into the little house that was surrounded by a garden of flowers and quietly parked her car under the veranda.
Her clothes were soaking wet as she ran into the house, her boots leaving large marks on the tiled floor as she went on in. Thankfully her phone was secured as the little sling bag was made of leather.
The homely aroma of freshly cooked pasta drew her attention as soon as she reached the living room.
The dining table was just a few walks away from her and she could see neatly arranged plates of lunch properly set on the table. Gianna was nowhere to be found.
Kylynn thought of going up there and eating her own share of the lunch but then she decided against it, her body was dripping wet and she needed a warm shower to properly rinse her itchy body before she could enjoy the nice warm lunch. She ran towards the stairs and began to climb it fast.
As soon as she reached the top of the stairs the first thing she did was peek into her step mother's room.
"Gianna!... Mom?"
She was not in.
She knew she was probably Miami's room; Miami is Gianna's daughter from her previous marriage.
There was no way she would be out in the rain.
She decided to take a shower first. She would probably meet the two when she is down for lunch.
Chapter 3
Subtitle: it's raining
The chattering of two different voices was the first thing Kylynn picked up as she opened her door and walked out.
She had on a clean and new pair of sweatpants with a matching sweatshirt. Her black hair is neatly tied up in a ponytail and her feet clad in a fluffy flip flop.
Even though the two ladies were meters away from her she could still hear them due to her heightened sense of hearing... She's always thought it was unusual that she could hear even the slightest of whispers but then shrugs it off as a mere ability she has.
As she walked the last two steps of the stairs she could see them from the curtains of the dinning table, they were eating from the large bowl of pasta on the table.
"Your back?"
Gianna was a little bit surprised.
"It's raining... How did you get in? Don't you have classes now?"
Miami was also surprised.
Kylynn just laughed and joined the two, pulling out a chair and sitting down... Taking in a deep breath and smelling the nice smell of the nice food on the table before her.
"And miss all this feast? No way... I'd rather miss a class than go hungry while you two eat homemade pasta."
She laughed and began to dish it out for herself.
"How were your morning practicals? Did your new recipe pass the test?"
Miami asked and drank from a glass of water on the table.
She was eighteen which makes her two years younger than Kylynn is.
"Mrs Miles had to go for her doctor's appointment so the class was postponed till three o'clock... Hopefully the rain should stop by then."
Kylynn murmured her reply as she chewed from her food.
Soon Gianna was done with eating.
"I'll leave you two sweethearts to fill yourselves... I have to clean the balcony and terrace... I'll also have to trim the flowers too... Your brother is going to drop by with his wife and kid tomorrow."
Gianna said as she cleaned her mouth with a napkin and left the table.
"I haven't seen Flynn in almost two years and he promised to introduce his wife to me even before the two got married.
Now they're already married and have a child and we still don't know what the wife looks like.
What a brother we've got Miami."
Kylynn muttered with an eye roll.
"I know you're upset with your brother but please behave Kai. He lives and works in a continent hundreds of miles across, you don't expect to see him often do you?"
Gianna yelled as she ran up the stairs.
"Don't mind her... By the way, did you get Molly fixed?"
Miami asked.
Molly is a name the two call Kylynn's bike, it is part of their little family so it deserves a name.
"Yes... She's as good as new. I dropped by Javier's place to check on him and guess what the prick was doing?"
Kylynn said, remembering the annoying memory of her boyfriend railing another lady in his kitchen.
"Was he praying?"
Miami was being sarcastic, she was bad with guesses.
"Nope, why would you say such a thing?"
She paused and laughed.
" Much worse, he was railing Lyra. In his kitchen."
Kylynn replied.
Miami bursted out laughing.
"Didn't I tell you Kai.. no man that handsome, rich and cool will stick to a small girl like you... Besides, you're too reserved. But wait, is it Lyra from your academy?"
Miami was now done with eating and was putting together her own plate.
"That b-tch looks so innocent I could swear she is not capable of doing something like that."
Miami felt like laughing.
"Well it's his loss sis... I'm sure many guys will be willing to go out with you if you agree to it."
Miami said to make Kylynn feel better.
"I actually thought it would hurt me that much but I don't even think about it often. I wonder if I still love him or am I just too unfazed to care. Anyways I cut ties with him and I hope I don't meet him again which is a funny thing to hope for since he lives five blocks away."
Kylynn sighed.
Though Miami was done with eating she still sat there to gist with Kai.
"How are my favourite girls doing?"
A familiar voice chipped in as the two girl's looked towards the entrance to the dining room.
Scottie was approaching the two.
"Big news Scottie! Kai just dumped Javier's arse.. she found him f-cking a bitch from your Academy.... What's her name again?"
Miami was a sharp mouthed girl and Kai knew telling Miami something means everyone will find out pretty soon, she didn't care though.
"Yes... Lyra from your catering class. That's the b-tch."
Miami soon recalled the name she forgot.
Scottie had now finished up to the two and sat down on a chair close to Kylynn's after giving her a short side hug.
The rain had now stopped.
"Are you serious Kylynn? I hope you didn't cry and embarrass yourself in front of the girl. Did you pick a fight with her?"
Scottie asked, she looked intensed and was sure of all the hot gist.
Kylynn laughed.
"Who? Me? We've been friends for years Scottie have you ever seen me in tears?
And why would I fight her? It was not her who cheated. I simply broke up with Javier and left the two to do their thing. What else?"
Kai said, throwing her hands in the air in a shrugging manner.
"Yo! Moxie sure makes one a b-tch. Javier seemed like a gentleman though why would he even hurt you like that?"
Scottie laughed, for a moment she looked at her friend for any reaction but found none.
"Anyways.. It's an hour before Mrs Miles's evening class. You should go change or we'll be late. What secret pastry recipe did you prepare this time? You're the baking master of our grade but you won't let me learn from you... It's unfair."
Scottie changed the topic. Kai soon stood up from the chair and exited the dining room.
She walked up the stairs to go to her room and Scottie followed behind her trying to talk to her about one or two things. Wherever Kai went Scottie followed like an ant following its fellow ants... Just like Miami she is a talkative.
After changing, the two left the house to get back to the city for their test.
The sky still looked dark and sulky which meant it is still going to rain so the two took an umbrella each and walked down the wet road, towards the bus station on foot. Kai didn't take Molly with her for fear that it would rain again and she would have to ride the baby back home all drenched.
"So what's your new recipe this time?"
Scottie asked Kai, trying to get her to reveal what she's prepared for the big test but the latter wasn't giving in.
"You'll see when we get to class... It's supposed to be a secret recipe bae."
Kai was adamant.
"Come on girl... I told you mine already, why can't you tell me yours?"
Scottie was not giving up either.
"I didn't ask you to tell me Scottie, you just showed me yourself.
You know how I am. So chill you'll find out what I have in mind when we get to class."
Kai replied.
"Urrrgh.. your such a killjoy."
The bus soon came and the two ladies hopped on. They found nice seats near the window and settled down waiting for the bus to take off.
The pastry test was a success and Kylynn topped the test with her incredible baking skills and her new secret recipe. Scottie also did great too but she was not much of a goodie like Kylynn.
However the test took more time than expected and the class ended at about six PM. It was drizzling again and Scottie left Kylynn to get back home on her own since she planned on crashing with her boyfriend who lives just a few blocks away from the Academy.
"Would the sky get any worse? I need to get home for f-cks sake!"
Kylynn muttered to herself as she tried to cover herself with the small umbrella she had. Her booths shielded her feet from the rain that poured down on the ground. She needs to walk to the bus stop in the rain.
