Chapter 1 No 1

[Mallory's POV]

"Mallory..." A deep voice whispered in my ear while I slept soundly on the bed.

"Mmm." I tried to turn and push the figure away, but the person looming above me yanked a handful of my hair.

"Ah!" My eyes snapped open, and I saw who hovered over me. "Ace Lennox. The Beta's son."

"Ace... What are you doing here?" I asked, gazing into his honey-brown eyes.

"Shush..." He silenced me by pressing his thumb against my pink lips.

"I came to see how you're doing. It's your eighteenth birthday tomorrow. Don't you think you deserve a birthday gift?" He stripped off his white shirt as he spoke.

"What kind of birthday gift is that? Why don't you wait until tomorrow to give it to me?" I asked. He shook his head. "No, Mallory. You deserve this gift tonight. It's very special, and I've been saving it for you."

"What's that?" I asked, studying his handsome brown face.

Ace was the Beta's son. Even though I was the Alpha's daughter, I had lost everyone's respect because I had never shifted. My younger sister, Sonia, had shifted since she turned fourteen.

Everyone in the pack looked up to Sonia while they overlooked me. The worst part was that Sonia seemed to bask in the attention and made me look like the bad person.

I loved Ace and wanted him as my mate. Yet he barely spoke to me during the day and often avoided me. I had no idea how he had managed to sneak into my room and onto my bed.

My room sat on the top floor of the magnificent two-story Alpha's mansion, so it amazed me that he had gained access.

"I want to give you a priceless gift, Mallory. But you must promise me you won't shout and that you'll enjoy it," Ace said as he removed the rest of his clothes.

I gulped hard at the sight of his broad chest and strong masculine abdomen. An urge to touch him swept through me. I knew Ace would be my fated mate tomorrow, and I wondered what kind of birthday celebration awaited me, since my father disliked me.

"I want to fụck you, Mallory. Just don't shout, alright? I want you as much as you want me," Ace said. His brown eyes glowed in the night.

"Alright," I agreed. Warmth filled my heart at the knowledge that Ace wanted me. Everyone in the pack looked down on me, but having someone who desired me made me happy.

"I know we are destined to be mates. I want you, Ace," I told him, caressing his chest. He brought his face closer to mine.

Ace kissed my lips hungrily. He was a twenty-one-year-old man, and many girls in our pack crushed on him-even Sonia, my younger sister. Is hoping, by the time she turned eighteen, she would become his mate.

Sonia and I were only a year apart. My father had married her mother after my mother died giving birth to me. We were half-sisters, and my father had taken another Luna to help protect the pack.

My mother had been an Omega-my father's true mate. When I was born, the pack doctor told my father I was an Omega too, a weak link in the pack. That disappointed him. To make matters worse, I had never been able to shift like the rest of the pack.

I was short-not as tall as Sonia. She was tall, light-skinned, and very beautiful. I wasn't a dwarf, but I stood at average height, much shorter than her.

It hurt that no one wanted me. But Ace did, and I knew he was my mate. So I agreed to make love with him, hoping he would give me the best birthday gift. Besides, tomorrow was my eighteenth birthday party.

"Are you ready?" Ace asked. He now lay fully nàked on my bed.

I swallowed hard, hardly believing I was doing this with him.

He had already removed my nightdress, leaving me completely nàked beside him.

"Yes," I moaned, breathless. Ace positioned himself to thrust into me.

When he entered me, I moaned and cried, but he didn't stop. He continued until I felt I might faint.

"Damn it, Mallory! You're so tight!" Ace kept thrusting. He brought his face to mine. "You're mine," he growled, burying his face in my neck. His fangs sank into my skin.

"Ah!" I groaned. Ace climaxed inside me. After a moment, he pulled out and licked the fresh mark on my neck.

"I have to go now, Mallory. Happy birthday." He kissed my lips, dressed quickly, and fled out the window just as footsteps approached my door.

The door burst open, but Ace had already escaped. I wondered if he had broken his leg. My stepmother, Lily, stormed in.

"Mallory, what are you doing on the bed naked at this time of night? Were you the one moaning?" She marched to the bed, yanked the sheet away from my chest, and glared at me.

"Mallory, you bìtch! Who were you fụcking in your room?" She growled and dragged my left arm, not caring that I was unclothed.

Chapter 2 No 2

[Mallory's POV]

"Let me go!" I screamed as my stepmother dragged me by my left wrist and pulled me out of my room.

I was naked, but she didn't care. She wanted to report me to my father.

"Leave me alone!" I bit her right hand hard. She flinched and released me. I ran back into my bedroom and dressed as fast as I could.

"Mallory! Mallory!" She banged on my door. I knew she would report me.

It was already one a.m. Once I finished dressing, I looked at the door and pulled it open. I had put on a red dress that fell past my knees.

The moment I opened the door, my father, Alpha Bruce Adonis, stood there and smacked me across the face.

"Mallory, what were you doing in your room? And why does this place smell of sex? Who was he?" Dad stormed into my room, walked to the bed, snatched up the sheets, and sniffed them angrily.

"Tell me, Mallory! Who did you mate with?" My father demanded. He stared at me with disappointment.

"Dad, I wasn't mating with anyone," I lied, lowering my gaze.

My father marched over, grabbed my left arm, and yanked me forward. "Mallory, I promised your mother I would protect you, yet you couldn't wait to find your mate. You foolishly slept with someone. Speak now! If the cameras show me who you slept with, both of you will be banished!" His blue eyes narrowed at me.

I didn't want Ace Lennox banished. He was the pack's future Alpha since my father had no son. Ace excelled in combat and had defeated several packs that tried to destroy ours.

I looked away from my father's face, hesitating to tell him the truth.

"Speak now or remain silent forever!" my father threatened as he adjusted his black garment.

My stepsister Sonia entered my room, wearing a white nightdress that shimmered. She always made sure to buy the best quality dresses.

"Dad, Ace and I did it," I announced.

My father's eyes widened in shock, then filled with anger. "You're lying about Ace. Why couldn't I detect his scent here? Has it come to this-that you have to lie about Ace Lennox?" he barked.

"Dad, Ace is the one who came here to meet me," I told him.

"Shut up! I will ask you one last time. Who did you mate with?" My father refused to believe me.

"It was Ace Lennox. He was here. He left through the window," I said.

My father walked to the window and looked out. "Ace cannot fly from this window. We're on the third floor. You don't want to tell me who you slept with. You have no scent, but Ace carries a strong pinewood scent. Do you think I don't know the scents of my pack members-especially the future Alpha?"

Sonia began to cry. "Mallory is lying, Father. Let us call Ace and ask him. She wants to force him to become her mate just because she sees us together."

Even though Sonia was taller than me and believed she would become the next Luna, I was still her older sister.

"I am not lying. Ace was here, and he slept with me. Maybe he used a scent suppressant," I said.

My stepmother burst into my room and smacked me hard across my left cheek.

"I cannot stand by and watch her slander the pack's future leader," Luna Lily said, looking at my father. "Alpha, Mallory needs to be punished so she learns her lesson. She knows Sonia is bound to become the future Luna and marry Ace. She wants to destroy their future together."

"Alpha, if you will not punish Mallory, allow me to do it. She is worthless and of no value to this pack," Luna Lily added while my father stood silently.

"Guards! Take Mallory downstairs," my father ordered. "Sonia, call Ace. He needs to answer Mallory's accusations before I decide on her punishment." He stormed out of my room.

"I am not lying! Ace and I are true mates! You all have to believe me!" I cried as my stepmother ordered the guards to drag me out of my room and down to the first floor.

They forced me to kneel while my father waited for Ace's arrival.

A few minutes later, Ace entered. He looked freshly bathed-his brown hair was wet, and he wore a yellow shirt with black shorts. He was very tall. He glanced at me briefly, before turning to my parents.

"Greetings, Alpha Bruce. You sent for me." Ace bowed before my father, who stood by his chair.

"Yes, Ace Lennox. I need you to tell me the truth before I decide your punishment alongside my first daughter, Mallory. You know that lying to your Alpha warrants banishment. I hope you are aware of that," my father stated, staring at Ace angrily.

"Yes, Alpha Bruce," Ace replied with a bow. He avoided looking at me. His parents rushed into the hall to find out what was happening.

Chapter 3 No 3

[Mallory's POV]

"Good evening, Alpha. Good evening, Luna," Beta Andrew said. "We saw Sonia arrive and summon Ace. What's the matter?"

My father looked at his Beta and sighed. "Mallory accused Ace of sleeping with her in her room. Is that true, Ace?"

Ace's parents gasped.

"What? Ace, tell me it's not true," his mother, Lady Fiona, pleaded.

Ace looked away from his parents, his fists clenched, and he glared at me.

"Say something, Ace. You cannot lie to Alpha Bruce," Beta Andrew demanded. "Did you touch Mallory? You know she is a useless she-wolf. She has no wolf, no scent, and seems like an ordinary human. How could you mate with a curse like her?"

"I am not a curse!" I screamed. I hated it whenever they called me that.

"Shut up, Mallory!" Beta Andrew snarled. "You killed your mother! Because of you, ex-Luna Comfort died on the hospital bed. What else do you want to do? Ruin our pack and my son's life?" He glared at me.

"I did not kill my mother," I cried. "I did not ask to be born without a wolf or to be different from the others. I never asked for any of this. I did not ask Ace to come into my room and slept with me. I did not create myself-I am the result of what my father gave my mother!"

Beta Andrew lunged toward me where I knelt, but my father stopped him.

"That's enough, Andrew," my father said. "It is not Mallory's fault that she was born differently. What I want to know tonight is whether Ace is the one who mated with my first daughter." His voice was stern and cold. The large hall fell silent as all eyes shifted to Ace.

Ace lowered his gaze. "Yes, Alpha Bruce."

"What?" Everyone in the hall gasped, including the guards who respected Ace. They stared at him with disappointment.

I felt sorry for Ace. Because of me, he would be banished or lose his position as our future Alpha.

"Why, Ace?" His mother asked, sobbing. "Among all the beautiful she-wolves in our pack, why did you choose to sleep with Mallory? Why?" She rushed forward and grabbed his shirt.

"Why, Ace? Why would you do this? I thought you loved me," Sonia sobbed, clutching her mother's arm as tears streamed down her face.

Ace lowered his head and confessed, "Mallory is my true mate, and I could not resist her. Forgive me, Alpha Bruce. If you want me to reject her, I will do it. Please forgive me. I cannot fight the mating bond between us."

Ace dropped to his knees before my father.

"Ace..." My father hissed, his voice filled with anger and disappointment. "You have disappointed me. Why didn't you reject Mallory when you discovered she was your true mate? How can you be attracted to her when she has no scent or wolf?"

Ace kept his head lowered. "I blame the Moon Goddess, Alpha Bruce. Mallory is beautiful in my eyes, and she smells like jasmine. I don't know why others cannot perceive her scent, but she has one, and I can smell it."

"Shut up!" My father thundered. His cold voice boomed through the living room. "I see you are losing yourself because of Mallory. I will overlook your sin for tonight because you have proven your worth. You can lead this pack well and have never been defeated in battle. But you must reject Mallory as your mate. I will not allow you to mate with my first daughter. Mallory shall be expelled from this pack. If you refuse, you will be expelled with her. I cannot risk putting the entire pack's lives in danger."

Tears welled in my eyes.

"No, Father. You cannot force me to reject my mate. Today is my eighteenth birthday. I cannot reject Ace!" I cried. I loved him and wanted him too.

"Shut up, Mallory, before I cut out your tongue!" my father roared. "You had better prepare to accept Ace's rejection-unless you want me to do what I should have done after you killed my mate!"

"What?! I did not kill Mom," I said, tears streaming down my face. "The Moon Goddess knows I am innocent. Someone else killed her so she would not rule as your Luna. How could I have done such a thing?"

My father marched over, grabbed my long blonde hair, and yanked my head back. "One more word from you, and I will snap your head from your neck. Go on, Ace." He released me and looked away. I resembled my mother, and he hated to look at my face. He believed I had killed his beloved mate.

"Please don't do this, Ace," I tried to mind-link him, but I knew he had the entire pack to protect.

"Ace..." I cried, not wanting him to reject me.

Ace closed his eyes and spoke the hurtful words. "I'm sorry, Mallory. I, Ace Lennox, Beta Andrew's son of the Bright Moon Pack, reject you, Mallory Adonis, as my mate."

My heart burned with pain from his rejection.

"Accept his rejection, Mallory," my father ordered. I knew he was not joking about killing me.

With tears in my eyes, I closed them and whispered, "I, Mallory Adonis, accept your rejection, Ace."

The moment I spoke those painful words, I passed out.
