Just then two other vampires appeared and surrounded Rafael.

"Why are you holding my girlfriend? What has she done?"

"You will find out," one of the men said.

"Don't you know that she's the princess?" Rafael asked.

All the men laughed as if they had heard the funniest thing. Rafael frowned.

"She is not a princess anymore," the man holding Lilly said with a sneer. "You, my boy, are the prince of this land."

"What do you mean?" Rafael asked charging at the man but got grabbed by the other two men. The man with Lilly grabbed her in his arms and vanished.

Lilly knew something was wrong when she saw a big crowd outside the palace. She was in a car with tinted glasses, held down by strong men on both sides. The car drove past the crowd and into the garage before it was promptly closed. She was then forced out of the car and dragged through the door. She screamed but knew no one would hear her over the loud music. She was led to the basement stairs and tossed inside when the door was opened.

The basement was cold and dank, a shock to the princess. She had never been there before although she had always walked past the door that led to it. Her mother had always said the basement was no such a place for a princess.

"Mother!!" Lilly screamed. The only response she got was a kick from the man who had driven the car. He grabbed her by her shoulders.

"You better shut up if you want to live."

"Leave me alone. I don't want to be here. My father will kill you if he finds out that I'm being held here."

"Those traitors don't even deserve a proper burial, but we let people take one last look at them."

"Oh how delusional you are. If your family is alive, wait and see if they'll save you. Do you know how many people your father tortured in this very place?"

Lilly started screaming as loud as possible, trying to compete with the loud music.

The man reached into his pocket and pulled out duct tape. Lilly started to run towards the door but a man grabbed her and brought her back, holding her in place as duct tape was placed over her pink lips.

Lilly continued to thrash against the men as they tied her up and chained her to the wall. She struggled against the high strength ropes but they only seemed to be getting tighter. The men left and banged the door closed. The music from outside stopped and was followed by chants from the crowd she had seen.

As the words from the man sunk in, Lilly struggled against the chain wanting to be free so she could find out whether her family was really dead. She closed her eyes and decided to focus. When she focused on her intuition, she realised that the feeling had been there all day, that something was wrong but being with the man she loved had dulled it. Her feelings for Rafael had been more prominent, shadowing her attention.

Lilly remembered the last time she had seen her parents, that morning having breakfast with her two elder brothers while they younger ones who were twins ran around the castle. Ryan, one of them had chased her to the car.

Tears welled in her eyes as she thought of the moment and wondered if that was really the last time she had seen them. Lilly shook her head, not wanting to accept such a terrible possibility. She started singing her favourite song in her mind to keep the negative thoughts away.

Time passed and the door opened. She looked up to see her father's best friend and right-hand man Alrick Enders striding in alone. Alrick was also the father of her boyfriend. He looked almost similar to his son except he was taller and bigger. He ripped of the duct tape in one swift movement and Lilly winced.

"Where is my father, Mr. Enders?" Lilly asked, hoping everyone had been wrong.

"He is finally dead and gone," the man said and smiled callously.

"What happened?"

"I finally got rid of him," he said, crouching down and licking his razor thin lips. He stared perversely at her almost naked body. "Now I have what I've always wanted." He reached out to touch her chin. She pushed his rough hand off her chin. He smiled. "Feisty and rebellious, just how I liked them. Look at that banging body."

Lilly moved further away from him, her heart hammering in her chest. Mr. Enders had always behaved like a father figure to her and her brothers. He had never said or tried to do anything inappropriate with her.

The door opened and the man who had driven the car walked in.

"Bring a bed to this room and tie her up," he said. "Clean her up and call me when she his ready. Get the other men if you need help. She's quite something."

"Why not just knock her out?"

Enders shook his head. "No, I want her to be completely sober as I take her."

"Please, just let me go. I wont do anything." Lilly begged.

"The only reason you're alive is because I love you so much. Mind you, all those people don't know tht you're alive. They think my son killed you already so stop being so annoying. I might just get bored and kill you as well."

Lilly said nothing and watched him leave the room, followed by the man called Cole. She started sobbing, knowing that her life was over.

Cole and his two companions returned with bedframes and a mattress then set them in one corner of the basement. Lilly just stared at them feeling numb. She had resigned to her fate.

However much she had struggled or screamed, no one had come to save her. Clearly, it was not about to happen any time soon.

Everyone who loved her was dead and she was left with those who wanted to destroy her for no good reason. The hope of a possible escape was still present in her. Surely, she wasn't going to stay locked up in a basement for years. If Enders thought that was possible, he was in for a ride.

Lilly didn't fight the men as they led her to the bed and tied her up. thankfully, they only tied her arms to the bedframe separately. They left her legs alone, sparing some of her dignity.

When the men left, the bitter truth sunk in. Her chest moved up and down as her heart pounded furiously. Knowing it was pointless to struggle against the restraints, she just lay down and started at the ceiling.

The basement had a dank smell of mould. Now that she could concentrate on it, she found it almost suffocating. She yearned for the fresh smell outside that she was accustomed to.

Some minutes later, the door opened. When the man walked in, a feeling of extreme dread and disgust washed over her. She closed her eyes and started crying as she waited for what she now believed was inevitable. She could hear the unbuckling of a belt and the swishy sound of clothes being removed fast.

"One day, I'll get out of here and it will be your head I come for first. Do what you want to me now but keep in mind that I will ruin you."

The man chuckled but didn't say anything.

She felt his hand on her leg and opened her eyes before attempting to kick his head. Due to his fast reflexes as a vampire, Lilly missed her target.

He shook his head and climbed on the bed.

He put on his shirt and turned to Lilly who was grinning. In one move, he snapped her neck and she lost consciousness.

When she regained consciousness, she was still tied to the bedframe. She sat up and looked around.

A stool that had not been there was now by the side of the bed. On it was a glass filled with red liquid. Lilly quickly reached out and grabbed it, immediately putting it on her mouth and drinking.

Animal blood was a good substitute for a human blood but it wasn't the same. Vampires needed human blood to be extra strong but strength from animal blood was usually enough when one got used to it.

Lilly didn't like drinking from humans. She hated hurting people just so she could satisfy herself. If she wanted human blood, she would get it from a blood bank or the black market shops.

In the black market shops, humans sold their blood in exchange for money. Most economies in the world were not doing very well so there was a lot of suffering especially among humans. The humans who sold their blood were told it was for science but Lilly was sure some knew where the blood was going.

When she finished drinking, she placed the glass back on the stool and lay down. It did not make her satisfied but it gave her some refreshment and strength.

As a royal, she had also had large amounts of animal blood at her disposal. She knew she was going to get weak if they kept giving her such meagre amounts.

She tried to loosen the restraints using her super strength but it didn't work.

Lilly couldn't believe how her life had changed so much so suddenly. One moment, she had been enjoying her life with the man she loved, thinking nothing could come between them and now she was in hell, living in a condition she had never imagined.

As a young girl, she had been taught that she would grow up, get married, have children and continue her princess duties to the kingdom.

Now that everything had gone down the drain, what was she supposed to do? She had been looking forward to getting married to Rafael, having a family, doing her wifely duties and hosting parties with her friends.

She wondered what they were all thinking. Were they secretly glad that the princess who always had a higher status had fallen?

Lilly decided not to think about her miserable life.
