The room is filled with angry wolves. Everybody is desperate and anxious to find the killer. Blood is spilled across the doorpost to the bedroom. "Fucking bitch killed her daughter!"
"I can imagine. She's a murderer, that's why she was banished from her old pack. Turns out once a murderer is always a murderer!"
The voices of the wolves echo across the bedroom, accusations flying around, and a lifeless 5-year-old child lying on the bed with her gut split open and blood all over her dead body.
A young lady is on her knees on the ground; her eyes red and swollen due to excessive crying.
Blood is all over her hands, and her lips quiver. Her whole body trembled as she wept silently. Her name is Nikita Manois
"Alpha is here!" A voice announces, and the wolves in the room split into two groups, creating a walking space for the tall muscular man approaching.
He is wearing a coat made of thick black animal fur. His eyes are dark and intimidating. He has long dark hair.
His aura and composure are graciously superior, making the wolves shiver just by his mere presence. He is Alpha Tyler, the great Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack.
His eyes dart to the bed and he sees the dead little child. "What's happening?" His commanding voice speaks, and everybody shivers as though God has found his way into their midst.
"Umm... Alpha, it's this woman. She killed her child but wouldn't admit to it." One of the wolves finally dares to speak.
Alpha Tyler comes forward from behind so he can have a clear view of the woman who dares to commit murder in his pack.
The moment his eyes fall on Nikita, a sharp pain crosses his chest, and his eyes shine brightly like the morning sunlight. He gasps, and the wolves around him retreat.
His wolf begins to rejoice in a blissful celebration, and his intimidating gaze softens as he looks at Nikita, who is on the ground with her blue seductive eyes fixated on his.
A low smile hangs on her lips, and her body vibrates due to the sudden joy and harmony that courses through her veins.
"Mateee Mateee!" Her wolf sings at the deepest corner of her heart. She smiles joyfully.
"She's mated to the Alpha! How is that possible?" A voice from the gathering speaks out loud, and sudden silence filled the aisle.
Alpha Tyler let go of his chest and rose in his heavenly aura. He comes forward, his wolf threatening to dive on Nikita with a kiss, but he controls his urge.
His lips quiver as he gets closer. One could see how much power she wields over him.
"You're Nikita Manois?" His deep husky voice rings out, and every other person went mute.
Nikita nods her head without taking her gaze away from his dark eyes.
"You stand accused of murdering your five-year-old daughter. The evidence presented before me is strong and compelling, but before I make a decision I must ask..."
"You left your old life and joined our pack just 21 days ago and you have refused to talk to anybody about your past and what prompted you to leave with your child. All we know about you is that your ex-husband cast you out after he found out that the child wasn't his?"
Nikita sniffs hard and nods her head in agreement.
"Now, I must ask. After you joined our pack, did you ever feel angry and blame your daughter for the loss of your marriage?"
Nikita is silent. A low gasp escapes her trembling lips.
"Speak only but the truth!" The Alpha's eyes glow red.
"I have felt anger. I blamed my daughter, yes. But I have never thought about killing her. She's my daughter!" Nikita speaks out loud.
"Stick to the questions asked, lady. You developed mental instability after you joined this pack. It was confirmed by the pack doctor."
"Now, where were you last night at around 11pm?" Alpha asks. Nikita gasps softly as a cold breeze punctures her lungs.
"I was sleeping beside my daughter. We went to bed together by 9pm." She says. The gathering was quiet as hell. Everybody was waiting for the verdict.
"Did you leave your daughter's side that night for any reason?" Alpha asks, and Nikita furrows her brows.
"No! No, I did not." She retorted.
"She's not addressing the Alpha with his title. She even dares to look the Alpha in the eyes when talking. Such a disrespectful young woman!" a man from the crowd speaks.
"Yes! She deserves to be punished!"
"She's a bitch!"
"I knew this woman was trouble when she first came. Punish her, Alpha!"
Noise erupts, and different voices and opinions come flying around.
"Silence!" Alpha Tyler growls like a snarling animal. He shoots a glare around, and all the wolves cower back and bow their heads in submission.
"Don't tell me what to do. One more word from anybody and he or she will taste my wrath!" The Alpha says, and deafening silence fills the aisle. Nobody dares to look up.
Alpha Tyler turns back to Nikita.
"I didn't leave my daughter's side. I was with Cassandra throughout the night." Nikita says to the hearing of the entire gathering.
"Really? But I have video footage from your door post that showed that you left this room around 2AM and you had blood all over your body. You came back a few minutes later and still slept beside your daughter without noticing her death until 6am. Is that what you're telling me?" The Alpha asked, and Nikita froze.
Tears fill her eyes. She shakes her head, a sign of disbelief. She glanced at her palms and her lips begin to tremble as she tries to speak.
Alpha Tyler bends before her. "Tell me, Nikita, do you remember showing any aggressive behavior last night?" She gasps and shakes her head. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
"So how do you intend to prove to me that you didn't murder your daughter? You weren't even in control last night. There's no telling what you could do. The camera footage when you left the house showed you displaying aggression."
"You had blood all over you. Plus, no one else came into your house until this morning. The cameras are there to justify this. There's no mistake, NIKITA MANOIS, you killed your daughter!" Alpha Tyler growls, and Nikita bursts into tears.
"I...I don't know if I did. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kill my child..." she stammers in a broken voice as hot tears pour down her cheeks.
The Alpha rises.
"I can never be mated to a murderer!" He growls. His eyes shoots daggers of disdain and disgust towards Nikita as she cried helplessly on the ground.
"From today henceforth!" His voice echoes across the room to the deepest corner of the woods. The wolves stand, anticipating his verdict.
"I, Tyler Woodson, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack hereby reject you as my mate. Every bond between me and you has been broken, and I condemn you to a life of slavery in the Blood Moon Pack with no choice of your own. You shall be a slave to all, man, woman, and child. No man or woman would mate or sleep with you, otherwise, he or she will be faced with a death sentence. If you attempt to flee, you will be hunted down and beheaded! This is my verdict!"
"Hear hear!" a loud voice from behind the Alpha speaks. It is Mr. Richard McCarthy, the Beta.
Once the Alpha finishes talking, there is a loud cheering from the wolves, and a woman picks up an object and throws it at Nikita. The Alpha watches in silence as the wolves lift Nikita high above the ground.
Her weak eyes fixate on the Alpha, and her plea for mercy is all over her face.
She is going through severe pain as her wolf howls, whimpering and crying following the rejection of her newly found mate, but Alpha Tyler never takes back his words. He watches as they take her away into the falling snow.
"Let's go!" He says to his Beta, and they join a black SUV waiting outside the house, leaving Nikita at the mercy of the angry wolves.
Nikita's POV (Flashback- how it all began, 21 days ago)
Pain. That's all I feel.
I lay on the cold marble floor, my body throbbing from the blows Kesler rained down on me. My cheek is swollen, my lip is split, and blood drips from a wound on my forehead. But none of it hurts as much as the words he just spat at me.
"She's not mine!"
I force myself to lift my head, ignoring the sharp pain in my ribs. My vision is blurry, but I can still see him; Alpha Kesler, my husband. Even though we are not fate mates, he is the man I've loved for seven years. He is standing over me like I'm nothing.
I search his golden eyes for something-anything-that tells me this is just a nightmare. That he still loves me. That he doesn't mean what he's saying.
But I see nothing.
Just cold, empty hatred.
"You were always too perfect, weren't You?"
"You lied to me," Kesler growls, his voice thick with rage. He paces the throne room, fists clenched, muscles tense. "For seven years, I called her my daughter. I raised her, loved her, and protected her. But she's not mine!"
"She is yours," I whisper, my voice hoarse. "Kesler, please, Cassandra is our daughter in every way that matters."
"Shut up!" His roar shakes the walls, making the pack members watching flinch.
I flinch, too, but not from fear. From heartbreak.
I can feel the weight of their stares-the Elders, the warriors, the omegas. Judging me. Whispering. Calling me a liar, a traitor, a whore.
And then there's Alicia.
She stands in the corner, her emerald eyes gleaming with satisfaction, lips curled into a cruel smile.
I should have known. I should have seen this coming.
Ever since Kesler saved her from death, she's been nothing but trouble. I felt her jealousy and sensed her manipulations. But I never thought she'd turn my own mate against me.
And now... now I'm losing everything.
"You Are No Longer My Luna."
Kesler stops pacing and turns toward me, his gaze cold and final.
"You are no longer my Luna," he says.
A sharp pain rips through my chest-not physical, but something deeper, something that shatters my soul.
I gasp, clutching my chest as our bond severs, leaving me hollow and empty.
"No. No, no, no..." I mumble.
Tears blur my vision, but I refuse to let them fall. I will not break. Not here. Not in front of them.
Kesler steps closer. Before I can react, he yanks the silver Luna pendant from my neck, snapping the chain.
The gasps around the room echo like a death toll.
I watch as the pendant-the symbol of my title, my power, my place beside him-dangles from his fingers.
He tosses it to the ground like trash.
"Take your bastard child and leave," he says. "If you step foot on my lands again, I will have my warriors rip you apart."
I stare at him, waiting for him to take it back. To show some sign of remorse, or regret. How about love?
But he just turns his back on me.
And just like that, it's over.
A low gasp escapes my trembling lips as Cassandra's cries Pierce My Soul
"Mama?"
The tiny voice shatters me more than any of Kesler's words.
I turn to see Cassandra standing by the door, her small hands trembling, her blue eyes wide with fear.
"Oh, my baby."
I force my broken body to move, stumbling toward her. I drop to my knees, cupping her soft, tear-streaked face.
"It's okay, sweetheart," I whisper. "We're leaving now."
She clings to me, shaking. "But... but Daddy-"
"He's not our Daddy anymore."
The words taste like poison, but I can't let her hope. Not when I know Kesler will never take us back.
I lift her into my arms, ignoring the way my body screams in protest. My legs wobble, but I won't fall. I can't.
I turn toward the door, toward freedom.
But then a shadow falls over us.
Alicia.
Her manicured nails trail down Cassandra's cheek, her voice sickly sweet. "Poor little pup. You don't belong here anymore."
Rage surges through me.
I slap her hand away so hard she stumbles. "Touch her again, and I will kill you." I snap.
Alicia just smirks.
"You were never worthy of him," she whispers.
I grit my teeth. One day, I will make her pay for this.
But not today.
Today, I walked away lost in the Darkness.
The rain pours as I stumble through the forest, Cassandra clinging to me.
She's stopped crying, but she won't let go.
I kiss her hair, murmuring, "We'll be okay, baby. I promise."
Though, that is a lie.
Because I don't know where to go.
As I plod through the cold in the woods, I started reminiscing back to six years ago.
My Mom was dead. My Dad wanted me to marry one Mr. Lance, a very old businessman. It was all for money. To my Dad, I was an asset to be sold out.
On the day of my wedding to Lance, I ran away and met Alpha Kesler of the White Walkers Pack. We dated, and when he discovered my pregnancy, he thought he was responsible, so he married me.
However, I knew that the pregnancy belonged to Lance, the businessman, but I couldn't risk losing Kesler. I loved him, and to protect my love and happiness, I kept the secret.
It was difficult but I thought the secret would remain hidden, yet, somehow, Kesler has found out.
My legs shake with every step, my wounds bleeding freely. My body is breaking, but I refuse to stop. If I stop, I will break.
And I can't afford to break.
Not when I have Cassandra.
Lightning flashes, illuminating the dark woods. The wind howls, whispering threats in my ears.
Then I hear a voice loud and clear.
"Come with me, child."
Immediately, I freeze.
A shadow emerges from the trees. An old woman, cloaked in black, her silver eyes gleaming in the darkness.
Fear grips me. Who is she? What does she want?
But then I feel something else. Warmth. Familiarity.
I have no choice.
I clutch Cassandra closer and fall to my knees.
The old woman kneels beside me, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder.
"You are not meant to die here," she murmurs. "Your fate is far from over."
I want to fight. I want to run.
But I can't. I am tired of fighting. I want to give in. I want to have a taste of peace.
Darkness pulls me under, and for the first time in hours, I let go.
Nikita's POV
(Present Day- which is 5 weeks after I met the old woman who rescued me and took me to the Blood Moon Pack. And 2 weeks after the rejection and verdict of my mate, Alpha Tyler.)
Pain sears through my body as I collapse onto the cold forest ground, my breath ragged. My limbs tremble, my wolf barely able to surface after the brutal rejection. The bond is severed, yet the phantom agony lingers like a cruel reminder of what I've lost.
I weep heavily. I can't stop thinking. "Cassandra." My beloved daughter is gone. "How can I kill my child?" I question myself inwardly and I look into the sky.
I want to ask the moon goddess why she has forsaken me. How can she let this happen? Why must I kill my child? My firstborn child? I can't shake off the pain slicing through my chest.
I clutch my stomach, my body shaking as I remember her innocent face. The warmth of her little hands when she'd curl up beside me. The way she'd giggle, calling me "Mommy" in that sweet voice.
And now she's gone. Tears is running non-stop. I try to control it but I can't. The wolves beat me to a pulp after the Alpha Tyler severed our mate bond. I can't stay.
I am cursed to stay as a slave, but I can't. I have no place here anymore. "I have to leave and never return." I say to myself inwardly.
As I stand up to leave, A broken sob escapes my lips, but I refuse to let despair consume me. Not here. Not now. I have to keep moving.
The night stretches endlessly before me, the dense trees whispering secrets to the wind. My wolf stirs weakly, urging me to run, to survive. I drag myself forward, each step excruciating.
I don't know where I'm going, but I can't stay. I know the wolves and Tyler will hunt me, and if I'm caught, I'll be killed. Yet, that is a risk I'm willing to take.
As I walk, I can't stop thinking about Kesler. This is his fault. He cast me into the lion's den. I should have known better than to trust him. I know what will be happening.
On this cold night, Kesler will be wrapped in Alicia's arm as she whispers words of seduction in his ears; her witchery knows no limit. I should've known, I should've seen her for who she truly is.
Now, here I am paying the price of my mistakes. I am homeless and childless, yet I am like a wanted criminal hoping not to get caught or face a death sentence.
I whimper as I drag my legs on the bare ground. The cold night punctures my lungs, but I don't care. I am a shadow of myself at this point.
A snapping twig makes my breath hitch. My head jerks up, my senses on high alert. Shadows shift between the trees, and a scent reaches me-dark, powerful, intoxicating.
My stomach clenches. No. It can't be.
Before I can react, a strong hand wraps around my waist, yanking me against a hard, muscled chest. A growl rumbles near my ear.
"Running already, little wolf?"
"Tyler."
My body stiffens. The mate bond may be broken, but his presence still sends a shiver down my spine. He rejected me-rejected us-but now he stands here, his grip possessive, his breath warm against my skin.
I force myself to meet his gaze, swallowing the lump in my throat. His piercing blue eyes are unreadable, but there's something dark lurking beneath the surface.
"What do you want?" I bite out, my voice hoarse.
His lips curve into a smirk, but there's no amusement in his eyes. "You, of course."
I glare at him, my nails digging into my palms. "You made it clear I'm nothing to you."
His hold tightens. "And yet, here you are, right where I want you."
Rage flares in my chest. I refuse to be a pawn in his twisted games. "Let me go, Tyler."
His gaze darkens, a flicker of something dangerous crossing his expression. "You think you get to decide?"
I clench my jaw, my heart pounding. He has no right to claim me, not after what he did.
My thoughts scatter as he suddenly lifts me off my feet. A startled gasp escapes me, but before I can struggle, his lips brush against my ear.
"You're coming with me, Nikita. Whether you like it or not."
My blood turns cold.
This isn't over. It's only just beginning.
