Chapter 1 Home welcoming

Evelyn's POV:

It was 6 a.m. on a bright Saturday morning, and our Alpha's first son, Prince Noah Isaac, was coming back from the Pack's University.

Luna Sabrina had instructed everyone to arrange the palace neatly, sweeping and cleaning everywhere.

Several maids who worked in this Alpha's palace buzzed with excitement, eagerly waiting to welcome Crown Prince Noah upon his return from our Pack's University.

According to the flying gossip, Prince Noah had gone to further his training on becoming the next Alpha of our pack, the Silvery Moon Pack.

Our pack was blessed with a lot of beautiful people, but we had both the rich and the poor. I was an Omega from a poor family background. I had fair skin, long blonde hair, and mesmerizing blue eyes.

In our pack, few she-wolves had blonde hair, as we mostly had brown or black wolves. However, I was born different, and the majority of my fellow she-wolves didn't like me. They grew jealous of me, always wanting to beat me or do things to make me sad.

As the majority of pack members had yellow eyes, the royal families had silver eyes, and I was the only she-wolf with blue eyes.

It was a rare genetic trait, and some of the she-wolves thought that I didn't have a wolf. After I turned fourteen years old, I met my wolf, Olivia, but as an Omega, I couldn't go to the woods alone to shift. I was scared; what if a big bad wolf waited there to devour me or tear me apart?

The forests, trees, and a lot of woods surrounded our pack. I had heard of cases where some she-wolves went into the forest to find their mate and also mated with some shameless male wolf. So because of this, I was scared to go into the woods to shapeshift. My wolf was white, as many either had brown or black wolves.

Some she-wolves gossiped that they assumed my wolf would be yellow or brown, given my fair skin color, because we didn't have fair-skinned she-wolves in this pack.

Our pack was developed. Let me give you a quick tour of what it was like before the arrival of our crown prince, as we had all been anticipating his arrival: Crown Prince Noah of Silvery Moon Pack.

We had many high houses and lower houses in our pack, and also group living. Most of the poorest Omegas who couldn't fend for themselves had to live in the group houses.

What had led me to work in the Alpha's mansion-also known as our royal palace-was that my parents were very poor and could barely feed me or my siblings.

I had four siblings: two twin brothers and two twin sisters. My twin brothers were Matt and Max, aged ten years, while my twin sisters were Rebecca and Ruth, both twelve years old, and they all attended the Pack's school.

Alpha King, Wells Isaac, was a very generous man. He built the Pack's school and the Pack's University. He imported several cars, although some of our able warriors still rode on horses, going to war against the out packs, or when rogues attacked any of our borders.

The Silvery Moon Pack was blessed with a wonderful Alpha family, as Alpha Wells ensured every child in our pack attended the Pack's school to get a basic education, where we learned to read and write.

I also went there and graduated three years ago, after which I applied as a maid in the palace.

Queen Sabrina had refused me then, but luckily, I got accepted because of Alpha Wells.

"Evelyn, hurry up! What are you still doing there? Prince Noah's car is on the way!" My friend, Becky Colt, shouted so that I could hurry up and not miss his homecoming.

The Pack's University was expensive, and I couldn't attend it.

My parents were poor Omegas, making me a poor girl, so my dream of going to the Pack's University to study medicine had vanished.

I had to become a maid, and the least medicinal help I could offer was only the ancestral remedies I learned from my mother, where I could wash herbs and mix them to cure different ailments for my fellow Omegas.

It was a free gift I learned from my mother at a young age, as we were not as resilient as the Alpha families that could heal on their own.

As Prince Noah was returning that day, a royal ball celebration honored his welcome.

Many she-wolves went haywire to welcome their crown prince, and I had to prepare myself too.

It was past noon, and we had been putting up with this celebration since morning, anticipating our prince's return.

I wore my blue uniform in my room, as it was under Queen Sabrina's command that every maid working in the royal mansion had to wear the blue uniform to identify ourselves.

I wasn't allowed to work inside the royal palace building; my work was to sweep the palace field, clean the windows, and attend to the laundry outside that the other maids had brought.

For some unknown reason, Queen Sabrina disliked me, so I had to obey her command unless I wanted to lose my job.

As I walked out of my maid's room at the back of the royal mansion, I headed to the front to join the other maids in welcoming our prince. However, I felt shaken as if I was going to collapse the next moment.

I looked ahead at the open palace field and saw the multitude of werewolves that had all gathered to welcome Prince Noah Isaac.

The elders were dressed in white garments to show their respect. The pack's warriors stood guarding the prince's black car, preventing the happy werewolves that wanted to rush to hug the crown prince.

At the front of the royal mansion exterior, Alpha Wells stood there with his wife, and his second son, William, and his only daughter, Bella.

"Welcome, Prince Noah Isaac of Silvery Moon Pack!" The king's assistant, Beta Remy announced, and all the happy werewolves bowed their heads to show their respect as the car stopped and the door unlocked.

Prince Noah got out of his black car, wearing a black shirt, black trousers, and black shoes. He was very tall, masculine, and dark, as his silver eyes searched the crowd and he waved happily to everyone gathered in the palace field to welcome him.

"Hail, Prince Noah Isaac!" The crowd cheered him.

However, I could feel my wolf fighting within me as I caught the masculine scent of chocolate, more like coffee, that filled my nostrils.

"Hmph, hmph!" I inhaled the chocolate scent deeply, as Prince Noah also sniffed the air in my direction, and his silver eyes landed on me, making me mutter, "Mate!"

The happy werewolves quieted down as all eyes fell on me, the albino she-wolf of the pack.

Chapter 2 The Queen's query

Evelyn's POV:

"Mate!" I whispered as I stood in front of the first prince of my pack, Prince Noah Isaac. He was a 24-year-old man who had just returned from our pack's University. We stood outside in front of the palace to welcome him.

He had an intoxicating scent of chocolate that drew me closer to him. But with the rejected look on his face, I was scared that he was going to reject me.

Alpha Wells and his wife, Luna Sabrina stood outside to welcome their first son, and having heard me boldly whisper the word "Mate!", all eyes outside the grand palace fell on me.

"Eve, who is your mate?" Luna Sabrina asked me, her voice laced with anger. She was wearing a long red dress paired with black shoes. She was brown in complexion, beautiful, and stood beside her son, Prince Noah, who had just returned.

I couldn't believe that I was mated to Prince Noah.

"I'm sorry, My Queen, but..." My lips trembled as I bowed my head lower, not able to meet Luna Sabrina's gaze or the entire royal family's gazes.

I had been working in this palace since I was sixteen years old, after graduating from the Pack's Academy.

Luna Sabrina didn't want me to work here, as she said only the Beta's children and those of higher rank were expected to work in the Alpha's mansion, not an Omega child. My parents were poor, and to help them, I had to beg for a job as a cleaner in the Alpha's mansion.

"Why are you apologizing, Eve? Go straight to the point and answer my question. Who did you call your mate?" Luna Sabrina yelled at me again, because she didn't like the fact that Alpha Wells had allowed me to work here.

On the fateful day I came to apply for a job as a maid, Alpha Wells was present, and he granted me permission to work in the palace. But Luna Sabrina forbade me from entering the inner chambers and only allowed me to clean outside the palace, like sweeping the wide compound and cleaning windows and doors. I wasn't allowed to work inside the palace, as they had other maids doing that.

"My Queen, I..."

"That's enough, Mother," Prince Noah cut in before I could speak. "Let's all go inside," he said, diverting the attention away from me to himself.

Of course, this was his homecoming day from his return from the pack's University. I hadn't seen him before. He was my senior, because he had graduated from the pack's college before I entered.

It was a day-to-day school for the poor, while the privileged had to stay in boarding. I had heard from some she-wolves who had been in boarding discuss Prince Noah, but I hadn't set my eyes on him.

Only the privileged were allowed to attend any festivities having to do with the Royals, like the wealthy men's children, while those of us from the lower class were expected not to show our faces but to stay hidden and pretend like we weren't from this pack.

"But..." My voice broke as tears welled up in my eyes. Prince Noah didn't want to acknowledge me. He pretended like he didn't know that he was mated to me.

"Eve, you are hereby fired for disrupting my son's homecoming from the pack's University! What gives you the right to think that you can make yourself very important on this day and steal my son's attention? Have you lost your mind?" Luna Sabrina snarled at me and wanted to hit me, but her first son quickly stopped her.

"It's okay, Mom. She's of no importance," Prince Noah said, his voice cold and I fought back the urge to sob.

Because Prince Noah had just arrived back from the pack's University, I thought it best to let him go inside and enjoy his homecoming that his mother had set for him.

I couldn't take my teary eyes off him, but I eventually looked away, seeing the rest of the werewolves gathered glaring at me for trying to steal Prince Noah's attention, as Luna Sabrina had claimed.

"You're highly welcome back, Noah. I'm glad that you have finished your Alpha training at the pack's University. I cannot wait for you to become mated and make me a Grandma!" Luna Sabrina squealed, her voice filled with excitement as she led her first son into the white mansion.

Alpha Wells and his second son, William walked into the mansion next, while Princess Bella and her best friend, Stella, glared at me as they followed behind their fathers and went into the mansion. The rest of the chiefs that had gathered also went into the magnificent palace building, while I could feel my heart breaking and becoming more sour from the painful rejection.

Prince Noah hadn't rejected me yet, but knowing that my mate would reject me made me howl in pain. I quickly hid my face from the she-wolves that had gathered around me, just after Alpha Wells and his family and other high-ranking members of our pack had gone into the mansion.

My parents weren't involved, because they were Omegas and currently at home.

"What were you trying to pull?! You dimwit! Chubby, ugly duckling!" Most of the young she-wolves yelled at me as many of them had gathered here in front of the Alpha's mansion to welcome their prince charming.

"Answer us!" One of the ladies dragged me roughly by my blue gown and pulled me to the center of the crowd of she-wolves to speak.

I was trembling, unable to speak or respond, as hot tears freely flowed down from my eyes. I had thought my mate would love me and accept me, and I would have a beautiful life. I had hoped and dreamt of meeting my mate. In my dream, my wolf usually met her mate, and they were happy together. He was a strong black wolf, and he loved and took care of my wolf. He had the same silver eyes as Prince Noah, but then, seeing him for the first time and perceiving him as my mate, I felt sad that he didn't acknowledge me or accept me as his mate. Instead, he had looked at me like I was stupid to come forward in front of his pack members and call him mate.

What should I do? Should I file for a rejection or patiently await his response? I pondered.

Chapter 3 Ran home

Evelyn's POV:

"Answer us! Can't you speak? How dare she call Prince Noah her mate? Does she think we're dumb?" More of the she-wolves yelled at me, their voices thick with fury as they continued to pull me to their center, and more of them shouted at me.

"Let's deal with her! Luna Sabrina has dismissed her from the palace for trying to steal Prince Noah's spotlight and attention!" More young she-wolves attacked me, hitting my head hard and dragging me roughly to their center.

I wasn't strong enough this time to fight them off. I am chubby and fair-skinned, a rare she-wolf, and they were jealous of me. Some of them brought out their sharp claws and scratched my face, wanting to destroy my pretty looks. With their relentless smacking, I was sure my face would be swollen and red, as I could taste the metallic flavor of blood on my lips.

They were jealous of me before because of my looks-my long blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, in contrast to the rest of the she-wolves who felt inferior despite being high-ranking. I heard that they could buy their ranks in our pack as long as they had rich parents.

I could feel their angry eyes shooting daggers at me as they continued to beat me like an angry mob, shouting loudly and forgetting we were in the Royal Palace.

"That's enough! What's going on here?" A loud roar silenced the ladies beating me, making them scatter and move away from me to stare at the exterior of the royal palace.

Standing there elegantly in his black clothing-exuding an aura of superiority-Prince Noah Isaac barked, "All of you get out of here! Before I ask for you and your families to be punished and expelled from this pack! Now! And if any of you dare lay a finger on her again, your hands shall be chopped off!"

The she-wolves shivered, stunned, as they hadn't expected Prince Noah to step out and yell at them, let alone dismiss them. Since they came for his homecoming party, my innocent heart warmed up, and my eyes shifted despite my broken state to stare at Prince Noah. I met his gaze on me, as he dismissed the crowd angrily.

When Prince Noah commanded us all to leave, I quickly looked away from him and ran out of the palace. I was no longer required to work there.

I could remember how Prince Noah's eyes shifted from red to silver, softening when he looked at me before I ran away. I couldn't explain what he felt for me, but he didn't acknowledge me as his mate. He only dismissed the she-wolves that were attacking me right in front of the royal palace.

My heart bled as I ran out of the palace gate, running back home to my parents' house. I could hear some stubborn she-wolves cursing at me, "Look at her! Stupid Omega! Does she think she could be our Luna?"

"Ugly duckling, fat pig!" More she-wolves cursed at me, as the others ran back to their homes silently for fear of being banished. But none of them dared to come near me or attack me after Prince Noah had warned them.

I ran back home, not even having the money to board a taxi. All my earnings went to caring for my mother and younger siblings, as they were in the Academy, and my dad was a hunter in this pack.

I fell on the way home, tripping on my maid blue gown. I stood up and resumed running to my father's house. We lived in the low communal areas, more like a small bungalow, while the Royal mansion was farther away but still within the same pack.

I arrived home and rushed towards our house door, which had no fence or gate. We were open to rogue attacks or thieves, as our home wasn't heavily guarded like most of the elite houses.

Knowing that after I had called Prince Noah my mate, I would be the target of many she-wolves, as my family was poor and not rich enough to protect me.

"Eve, what happened?" my mother asked as I rushed into the living room of our house, shutting the door behind me and crying.

My home was a mini flat with three rooms. My sisters and I shared one room, my brothers had their own, and my parents had theirs. Each room had a personal bathroom, and we had one big kitchen. It was a typical house for the low-ranking families in the Silvery Moon Pack, thanks to Alpha Wells who renovated this pack to make it more welcoming, like the human world we read about.

"What happened to you, Evelyn? Who beat you up like this and tore off your clothes?" my mother asked. She was my replica, although brown-skinned like the rest of the women in this pack. She was tall, chubby, and beautiful like me, but a very kind woman.

"Mom!" I burst into tears in her arms, unable to explain all that had happened. I knew she wouldn't be allowed into the royal palace, as the guards seemed to know which pack members were from the higher-class families and which were from the lower class-omegas, with their badges.

"It's okay, stop crying and talk to me. Your father will soon be back; he has gone to hunt for bushmeat for you, knowing that tomorrow is your 18th birthday and you would return home today to us," my mother said. She hugged me, released me from her arms, and wiped my tears away.

Truly, on every birthdays of the maids working in the royal palace, Luna Sabrina granted us a day leave to return home and celebrate the special day with our families. I had totally forgotten that tomorrow was my 18th birthday, because I had been busy tidying up the palace and cleaning everywhere in anticipation of Prince Noah's return from the pack's university.

Mom led me to our wooden couch in the living room to sit down. We had five wooden brown couches.

"It's okay, tell me what happened? You know your siblings are coming back today because they want to celebrate with you. If only we had cars to go and pick them up. Now they have to trek home," Mom said, her voice laced with sadness.

I smiled sadly at what my mother said. A few minutes later, my siblings would be back from the pack's academy, as they've vacated.

The pack's academy was for the younger ones and free, like I said, while the pack's university was very expensive and only those born with a silver spoon could attend.

"I'm coming. Let me get the first aid box in my room to attend to your wounds," my mother said, and I sighed and nodded my head.

Just as my mother left me in the living room, I heard noises from outside. Then the door burst open, and my younger siblings were back.
