Chapter 1 Years Before

Julio POV

The night sky is filled with so many stars. My mother said Dad would come home soon, and staying up until he returned home was my price for eating my vegetables. As I stay looking out, my blond hair curls around my head, and my green pajamas keep me warm in the window's frame. With my blue eyes, I see a group of wolves turning towards us, smiling at the thought that my dad has finally arrived. I run out of my room on the third floor of the pack house, stopping to knock on my mom's room.

"Mom! Dad is home! Hurry, hurry, we need to go to him now!" Anxious, I run downstairs to greet my dad.

Passing by everyone's room, I don't see anyone out. Strangely, the house is quiet, but maybe it's quieter at night than I thought. Jumping stair steps, I hit the ground on the last step to bump into someone, and my nose hit the person, and I put my hands on my face.

"I'm sorry for bumping into you; I'm in a hurry to get home." Those were the last words I could say as I felt a sharp pain hit me, and then it all went blank.

Marcella POV

Eating that mushroom was a horrible mistake. As I walk back to my room, I overhear someone talking in my small library. I walk near it to get a better view.

"What do you mean everyone is poisoned?! The Red Moon Pack's Alpha is the best warrior to serve my rule. Get the nearest packs under my orders to assist with this situation. I will arrive shortly." My father boomed with his King Alpha command.

Taking my leave, I ran to my room, hoping he did not smell me or hear my steps. My father hardly takes his anger at a subject seriously. But if this is true, who could have done such a thing, and why? About to reach my door knob, my father's hand holds it instead.

I gulp loudly and look up to see my father's angry face. I smile at my father; surely, he cannot be angry at me. I ate all my meat and fruits today after such harsh training.

"You were listening earlier, Ella. Explain." My smile fades as I place my hands across my chest, my eyebrows forward, and my mouth like a sour face at my father's accusations.

"I was; your shouting alarmed me, and after learning of your departure, I returned to my room. Before you placed your hand to deliberately stop me," I nodded at my statement about my father's attempt to punish me.

"That's my daughter, staring forward and truthful. Now what am I to do according to your understanding?" This is no trick question for a father, seeing as he is smiling with pride.

"You are to leave bright and early in the morning and allow your subjects to work on their task; by the time you arrive, more answers will be provided, and fewer complications will be presented." Politics, etiquette, laws, and regulations are a very sour education, but I wish to be Queen one day, so I shall receive all my training till I rule with an iron fist.

"Sounds like a perfect plan. I shall inform the butler to make a small bag with my things and prepare my top warriors with two trackers to leave early in the morning. May I rest with my Queen and princess tonight?" I smile, as I know my father approves of my plans.

Taking his hands to go to Mother and rest with them both, I think of how my father just finished a war, and here he is about to leave again. Looking up at my father, I walk a bit shorter.

"Father?" He looks my way as I speak to him.

"Is this truly required?" He shows me his worried face, and he picks me up on his hip.

As we walk into his room, we walk out to the terrace of his room, where the night sky is showing all the stars. The woods surrounding our castle are of dark tones, and the animals can be heard clearly, but they are far away from my vision. When I hug my father's neck, I hear his breathing, and when I see my mother hug my father on his other side,

"Everyone who I rule over is important to me. Our kingdom was not built to destroy those who follow our ruling, but to honor, protect, and at these times save my daughter." Mother gasped, as she was not aware of all this.

"Another war?" Mother asks as she looks at Father with sad eyes. My father kisses her forehead and hugs her tight.

"No. The Red Moon Pack was ambushed, and their Alpha's son was kidnapped just now. The poor boy is lost for now. We will find him and bring him back to his home." Now I have come to gasp while my mother answers.

"No deaths from their ambush?" Father says, No. I let out a breath and hugged him a bit more.

"Let us retire for the night, my love. The morning will bring me all the answers we will need." Mother nods as the father takes me to bed with her.

Placed in between my father and mother with her baby bump, I sleep into a strange dream. I'm swimming in dark blue water, surrounded by bones of different shapes and sizes. As I swim up the water, I see a bright light. The top of the water shows me a bright room, and as I see within it, the room holds no other color.

Placing my hands on what I thought to be a marble floor, I realized it was all grass, white grass. Walking through the room, I feel the word lookup, which is the sky in a dark gray. What a strange place this is. Walking further away from the pond, I see a red figure-a woman, I am to assume, in all red clothing.

"Hello? May I know where I am? Who are these?" I ask the woman, who does not show me any indications of responding, and when I am a couple of steps away from her, I feel the wind pick my light gray-blue hair up into the air.

Seeing my hair for a moment to calm it, I look back at the woman again. To be face to face with a dark-faced woman smiling wickedly at me, I jump back at the sight.

"It is I; you seek to speak? May you be such a powerful child. Fear not; Selene shall not hurt my children." She speaks with such a calm voice for such a feared woman.

Selene, as she says she is, walks away slowly, recomposing herself. I walk behind her; she slows down enough to be by my side. I look around to see the red and black shadows of wolves, my eyebrows are united as I see so many around me.

"Do you seek answers from a young pup?" Selene asks me, and I think of a question to learn if she speaks the truth. I have learned of no such creature to speak to our Moon Goddess.

"How am I to be assured you are who you state to be? Selene?" She giggles at my question.

"Ah, it seems my choice was right. You wish to be reassured. You must know that the gods are not truthful and reliable. Fair enough. I shall answer your question." We stop in what feels like the middle of nowhere, and when she takes my hand, I feel my body hurt, my head pining me with needles.

"What is this?" I shouted from the pain I felt within me.

"Your Lycan child, I have no secrets from my lover's creations. It seems Lycaon has brought you to me as a gift. I shall bring him, my son, then. But you must rescue him. The boy named Julio of the Red Moon Pack is as gifted as you are. All of these are alive, but they know the pack was not ambushed; it was placed under a spell. An Elf and Witch are working on the destruction of our kind. You shall have a baby brother who will bring change to the ruling, and your marriage will fail, only to bring cause. Go ahead; you are the only one who can find him, after all. He is your mate."

I opened my eyes, my father still sleeping. I look towards my mother, who is asleep as well, and I am frightened as to what the future holds for me. Shaking my father awake, he holds my arm awake.

"Father, I must tell you about Julio."

Chapter 2 I have a son

Julio POV

Waking, I find myself in a room with a beeping machine, Where am I? Who am I? Getting my head up feels like I was hit by a bat. Adjusting my eyes to the room, I see there is a clock on the front of the room, which is odd.

Looking on the side, there's a cup with water, I take it and drink it as I'm parched. Drinking it the door opens to show a woman in a white cloak, holding a clipboard. She has brown hair in a messy bun wearing blue scrubs, and behind her is another one with a black blazer, a tight black dress tight on her body with heels, she is wearing glasses as she has black hair bouncy with giant hoop earrings, holding a big folder.

"Who are you? Where am I? Who am I?" The woman in the white blazer sits on my side and takes my hand, while the other one sits on the other end near my feet.

" I'm Doctor Truman. She is Social Services Director Jackson. All I know about you, little boy, is that your name is Julio, and your bloody clothes had that name patched on them. Does that name sound familiar?" My name is Julio. As soon as I say the name, my head starts to hurt, the machine starts to beep, and the doctor moves to help me lay down.

"Well, judging by the way the machine reacted, your name is Julio." I nod as I realize she is right, but if this is my name, why does my head hurt so much?

"Take it easy, boy, don't harm yourself. I will take care of you, alright?" Says the black blazer woman, When I feel something sting in my arm, I fall asleep again.

Marcella POV

"What do you mean, Ella?" Father asks me, still half asleep, and I shake my head at him.

"Julio, the boy from the Red Moon Pack!" My father's eyes look directly at me with confusion.

"Marcella, how do you know that name? How do you know this?" He growls at me, I do not wish to anger my father, but I must say what I dreamed of.

"I dreamed I was with Selene, she said Julio is there, no more father. The pack was not ambushed, but placed under a spell! You must believe me; I wouldn't dare defy or stead ye to death!" Father places his head on his pillow while mother moves to sleep on the other side, and as father huffs and puffs, he pinches the bridge of his nose.

"Very well, Marcella, speak of your revelations." I smile as Father allows my voice to be heard. Sitting on the bed, I begin.

"The place I was in was an odd one, I was in a dark lake or pond filled with bones, different types of bones, once I swam up the room was all white, but it was no room it was filled of white grass, trees and black reddish wolves. What was scary was how Selene seemed to look, of dark complexion and covered in red attires." Father looks at me with a pale face, have I said something harsh or wrong.

"Marcella, did you see the sky?" I nod. "It was a dark blue-gray with not a single star in the sky, why Father?" Father lifts himself from the bed and runs outside of the room like a man running from a ghost.

Scutching to the edge of the bed to run after father, mother awakens. "You shall not leave, return to bed Ella. It is time to rest, leave your father be." I sigh heavy as my legs dangle from the bed.

I lay back on the bed. When I hear the door burst open again, father enters with a big white book decorated with blue crystals. He sets it open next to me in the bed and points to a drawing.

"Did the place you were revealed looked like this?" Looking at the image it is as my dream was, I look at it up close as I slowly nor, my fathers shout "By thunder I have a gifted daughter!" Mother yelps from fear.

"My apologies Fiona, this is brilliant news from the gods! Our daughter can speak to Selene herself!" I shake 'no' at dad.

"Father Selene said I am to speak to her lover Lycaon, I am gifted by him not Selene. But I am to find Julio, who is her gifted child ." Fathers eyes open and mother stands on her side.

"It's time! The baby is arriving tonight!" I smile at what mother says, then I remember more to Selene's words, I snap to look at dad.

"Father, I am to have a brother who will Bring destruction to our lands, I speak only of the words of Selene." Father seems to be confused, as a ruler a Queen is troubling to manage but a man is a born leader, which makes no sense as I have been a perfect lady.

"Well then I'm glad my daughter is to rule, am I not?" I smile at my father but then the real fear of the revelations comes to surface.

Thinking of the things that are to slip away from my mind, mother starts to walk to the door, father runs to her, picking her up to run out to his left, I run to my room in the same direction but on the other side of the floor to place my nightgown, I place my slippers to run after my parents.

Skipping some of the toys in my room, I run out of my room, locking the doors of my own and my parents, I arrive at the bottom floor turning in the small hallway on the right just below the second floor is the castles private hospital, where the father is lying mother in her small bed.

"I shall fetch the Doctor's father!" I run out and I'm stopped by Cliff, my personal guard.

As he takes me by my hips in his arms elbow, I kick him hard in between his soft spot to allow me to move, when he bends I run to get the doctor who is entering the castle, I take his bag to hurry in the room where mother is, seeing Cliff angry in the bed next to mother, I hold on to my laughter.

As the mother starts to cry from the pain, the doctor informs everyone but me to leave as I am to help the mother give birth, I have assisted other midwives with the same process, I do not fear blood or a woman in labor, I help the doctor bring my baby brother to this life.

After hours, mother pushes one last time to then head my baby brother. "It is a boy, your majesty! Congratulations!" I smile at this news but mother looks at me with adoration, I take my baby brother with me as I make sure to clean him up to bring him to mother.

Chapter 3 Orphanage

Julio POV

This darkness makes me feel cold, and the pain in my head has calmed. As I try to open my eyes, the light shines on me, and slowly adjusting to the room's brightness, I see the same woman with the black blazer sitting on the small chair at the end of my bed, getting up. She looks my way with a sad smile.

"Good morning. Where is the doctor?" She gets up and hits a button on my side.

"She is now on her way; you have been sleeping for a while. How are you feeling?" Knowing the doctor is on her way, I nod, placing my hands on my lap. I try to think of my past, but I come out empty-handed.

"I feel odd. Why can't I remember where I came from? Or what I was doing. Do you know?" When she turned back to do her paperwork, I looked into her eyes, and she answered.

"I'm afraid all I know is that you were dropped off here, you were drugged, and thank God there aren't any sexual** reports from you, but you are now under my care so that you will be safe. Before the doctor arrives, I need you to sign these forms for you to be legally aware that you will be under my care from the time you are discharged from the hospital." I look at the papers individually when the woman gets annoyed at me.

"I ask you to sign them; I don't have all day for you to work on reading." I frown and raise my eyebrows at her words while I keep reading.

"How do you expect me to sign if I don't read it? Will you take good care of me, or is this just a job?" She frowns at my questions when the door opens to show the doctor.

"Everyone alright?" The black blazer lady rolls her eyes at me and smiles at the doctor. I start reading the papers and only sign one out of the four, giving it back to her. She sees that I only signed one and gives it back to me.

"You need to sign them all, kid; this ain't a one-way street; it's all or being out in a homeless house." The Doctor clears her throat, and we both look at her.

"With all respect for Jackson, we must accept his choices, minor or not; he has his state of mind. All in all, we have to respect his choices." I smile at her answers; I couldn't have said it better myself. I fold my hands, and the doctor approaches me, bending down to talk.

"Julio, you need to take care of yourself from here on out, okay?" She takes a small card and places it in my hand. I look at it and put it on my underwear before Jackson returns.

"If you ever need me, that's my number, okay?" I nodded at her to keep it a secret. She gets up and turns on the light in the bathroom after removing the IV, patches, and stickers from my body.

Showering, I get the towel to dry myself when I hear Jackson talk to the doctor.

"He needs to sign all the documents for the child services to do their job; he is only nine years old, and until he is 18, he has no choice but to do as he is told," Jackson says, annoyed when the doctor answers her.

"Jack, if I need to complain about your actions, I will. He is a smart boy but has no memory of what happened. Bring him back in 6 months per a doctor's order; if you fail, I will take this to the Department of Healthcare. Am I clear?" Drying myself, I put my clothes on quickly, hearing Jackson walk towards my door.

Shutting off the water, she opens the door. I jump from the sudden action; she looks at me, annoyed, and the doctor yanks her away from the door.

"What was that all about, Jackson?! He was getting dressed, and you just opened his door! That's an invasion of his privacy! I'm calling your boss; this is inexcusable. Leave my hospital right this instant!" With one last yank from Jackson, she leaves the room.

Walking out, I see the doctor call someone. I go back inside to brush my teeth, wash my hair, and put on my socks and shoes. The doctor finishes her call and sits beside me on the bed.

"Her boss will be taking you to the orphanage. I can't do more than this for now, but if she or anyone else does that, you call me. Am I clear?" I nod at her, and she sighs heavily.

"Julio, the orphanage is not a pleasant place; it's full of kids like you who do not have their parents; they sometimes get adopted by a family or orphanage home families. Be the best boy you can; things will hopefully become a bit easier." She gives me a side hug, and an older lady enters the room with a black shirt and long black pants and waves at me.

"Julio? Hello, I'm your new case manager. My name is Trinity. Ready to go to your new home?" I bite my lips and nod at her. This will be a difficult time in my life.

Walking out of the hospital, we walk to a parking lot up front, She opens the back seat, and I get in. Driving out, she looks through the rearview mirror as I look out the glass window.

"Julio, You will stay in this house for just a week. In a week, we will have parents who want to adopt kids to raise. You are placed on that list because you have memory difficulties. They will be informed, and I will ensure you return to see the Doctor for your treatment. Have you eaten anything?" I shake my head 'no.'

Well, neither have I; let's eat here. What would you like?" I have never eaten here; it's a burger place.

"A cheeseburger? With coke. Please?" She smiles through the rearview mirror and gets our orders.

After eating, we arrive at a big brick building, easily 14 stories high. She walks up the stairs. I walk and open the door as she has a lot of books on her. She smiles at me for helping her. Upon entering, there is a small living room to the left side, a receptionist in the middle, and a waiting room on the right. Trinity opens a door behind the receptionist's desk, places her documents in that room, and walks out in flip-flops.

"Come with me to your room. Tomorrow, you will go with Harold to buy some needed stuff with the money the child services department provides you with. Okay?" I nod at her as she walks to our left. There is a small elevator, and she hits the last floor on top.

"Those who live here are usually four in one room, but you won't have a roommate; the room you have is unoccupied by children. How does that sound for the moment?" I nod again.

I wouldn't say I like everything happening; I can't remember why I'm here, where my parents are if I have any, or why I am in a room with no one. This is a nightmare that I have no way out of. The doors open to the floor, where two kids make out from the open door frame.

"Hey! What is the meaning of this?" Trinity screams at the kids, who rush into the room and close the door.

"Stay here and hit that button for me, Julio." I hit the button that opens the doors of all the rooms on this floor and hears a beeping sound. Looking at Trinity, I see a beeper attached to her hips.

She takes the two kids to the room and asks me to walk with her. Arriving at the door in the middle, she stops with the other two.

"This is your room; you will get what you need tomorrow at 8 a.m., okay? I will pass by with Harold to get you. Good night, Julio." I smiled at her and nodded.

"Good night, Trinity." I enter, and she closes the door. I walk to the small bed and see it's 6 p.m. I cry to sleep, as I have no idea what this life of mine has become.
