Chapter 1 Kidnapped the Luna

Author note: the * means sign language

*"That man is an asshole, he never treated me well. He hit me and just got drunk. I accidentally killed him, please help me."

Diana could only sigh. This was no easy case. Diana's client this time was a wife who killed her husband because of domestic violence.

On the one hand Diana felt sorry to hear her life story, but on the other hand she couldn't help anything, because she was only a interpreter. All decisions are in the hands of the judge.

*"We will try to provide the best solution." That was all Diana could confirm.

Then her client was taken away by the custody guard.

Huft, this was one of the hardest days for her while working as a interpreter at the courthouse. Besides, she felt unwell since morning. Unfortunately, her phone died just as she was about to order a taxi to go home since she didn't bring a car today.

Diana used her blazer to run through the rain. She had to get home before it was past curfew at home.

So when a taxi pulled up in front of her, she quickly got in.

The taxi door was immediately locked which left Diana confused.

She looked at the taxi driver in the rearview mirror to protest but saw someone else behind her instead.

Suddenly, a cold thing touched Diana's neck. That's when she realized it was a knife and she was in danger.

Diana tried to see the faces of the driver and someone else behind her, but she couldn't recognize them because they were wearing masks.

"Don't try to rebel or this knife will pierce your neck," the kidnapper threatened.

Diana held her breath, her hands shaking with fear.

The taxi started moving, taking Diana away from the office area.

Diana held her phone tightly. She didn't know if there was someone who would save her.

"I'll call Alpha Darren. Your life depends on the decision he makes." The kidnapper laughed with satisfaction next to Diana's ear.

It surprised Diana to no end because no one knew that her husband was Alpha Darren, the leader of Pack Kyne, because she was the hidden Luna, the one the public had been looking for all this time.

A call was connected. The kidnapper put his phone in front of Diana's eyes so that she finally knew that the kidnapper was really dialing Alpha Darren's number.

The call was finally picked up.

[Who?] asked Alpha Darren in his cold, stern voice.

Diana could only stare at the phone screen while hoping in her heart that Alpha Darren would agree to whatever the kidnapper asked. Honestly, Diana was scared that they would kill her. Diana didn't want to die yet because there was still someone who needed her.

The kidnapper laughed and increased the volume of the call. "I am with your wife now, Diana Genevieve. She's in front of me and frightened as hell."

In fact, Alpha Darren's response was not what Diana expected. Diana thought Alpha Darren would be very worried but instead he laughed.

[You're with my wife? Do you even know who my wife is? The whole country doesn't even know who she is. Stop making stupid calls or you will be arrested and put in jail.]

The disconnected call made Diana's breath catch. She shook her head and covered both ears in frustration.

"What the hell! Speak clearly, get to the point you idiot! We have to get the money!" The fake taxi driver snapped at the man who had a knife pointed at Diana's neck.

Diana held her breath as the knife accidentally hit her ear and cut a few strands of her hair when the man pulled his hand to contact Alpha Darren again.

"I'll try again." The man contacted Alpha Darren again.

A few seconds passed, and the call was finally picked up. Diana could breathe a little as there was still hope for her to be saved.

"I'm not messing with my words. If your wife can talk, then I'll tell her to talk right now." The kidnapper laughed like crazy again.

Diana closed her eyes as the knife was again aimed at her neck. She wasn't afraid of death, but she was afraid of leaving the people she loved.

Diana's tears finally fell.

[You just need money. Work instead of making trouble with me because the punishment is more severe than you can imagine. You'll be finished if you play around with me.]

"Wait! Don't hang up!" The fake driver shouted. "We're really with your wife. She didn't bring the car today because it's being repaired due to a minor accident that happened yesterday. Is this enough to make you believe that I'm with your wife?"

At first Diana thought this kidnapper was one of the enemies her husband was dealing with, as he was working on a case at the Pack border. But the two kidnapper explanations made Diana very curious about who they really were. Because, they knew about her relationship with Alpha Darren and also knew about her activities. That meant they had most likely been stalking Diana all along and were nearby. That's what Diana thought.

[Go ahead and build your story. That's enough fooling around.]

"We want 10 million dollars. That way we'll release your Luna," threatened the man with the knife.

Again Alpha Darren laughed, he still thought the kidnappers were lying. [That's all? You lowlifes dare to give such a low price for my Luna! If I were you, I'd ask for more money. You punk.]

"Damn the call is cut off! He turned off his phone!" This man behind Diana looked very frustrated.

And so was Diana. She really didn't expect that the man she married on contract would break his promise to protect her from any danger. In fact, when Diana was really in danger, Alpha Darren was not there for her.

"Fuck you bastard Alpha Darren!" Diana shouted very loudly releasing all her anger.

The two men who kidnapped Diana were shocked that she could speak. They only knew that Diana was mute. But they didn't know that Diana has selective mutism, where Diana only talks to people she chooses and in certain situations like this, when she's very depressed.

"Call him again! Make a video call! I want you to call him again!" Diana shouted. She grabbed the phone and dialed Alpha Darren, but Alpha Darren's phone was already switched off.

The kidnappers laughed as they discovered new facts about Diana, while Diana vented her anger by hitting the head of the passenger seat in front of her until it came off.

"What the hell, you can talk, it's amazing. What's the game going on here?" asked the fake driver in astonishment.

Diana clenched her fists at her sides. Even in an emergency like this she had no one to ask for help. She had always been alone and that was what made her feel sorry for herself.

Diana looked at the two kidnappers with deep resentment. "You should have asked for more so he wouldn't turn off his phone." Then she kicked the fake driver in the neck and elbowed the man in the back seat in the head simultaneously. They both fainted and Diana went out to escape.

But Diana's legs were so weak that she fell and broke her heels. Diana sobbed under the rain. She patted her tight chest. She also screamed her heart out.

The knife wound on her ear faded away because she had the ability to heal. That's why she wasn't afraid of death.

Diana stood up again and staggered towards a bigger road. Then she sat on the side of the road while burying her face in the folds of her legs.

All the frustration and pain that she couldn't vent all this time finally came out along with the falling rain. She gripped her phone tightly.

"I should have realized that you don't really care about me. You pretended to care because I was the tool you kept to fight them." Diana beat her chest again. She was finding it increasingly difficult to breathe due to hyperventilating.

She tried to stand up and cross the street when she saw a car passing in the opposite direction to call for help. But then she fell because the heels she was wearing were broken.

Diana stared at the asphalt and the scars on her palms. She ignored the pain until the rain suddenly stopped pouring down on her. Diana looked up as shiny black shoes stopped in front of her.

Alpha Darren crouched down and helped Diana to get up. He hugged Diana tightly and gently stroked her hair. He didn't say anything so Diana pushed him away.

Fortunately it was raining, so Diana didn't have to worry about Alpha Darren knowing she was crying. Diana didn't want to look weak in front of Alpha Darren.

"Are you okay?" Alpha Darren asked. But then he saw the blood on Diana's palm. "You're hurt."

Diana pulled her hand away from Alpha Darren. She looked at him with those pierced eyes. Although she didn't say a word, Diana's expression was enough to represent what she was feeling right now.

"Good thing you're wearing the ring. Don't ever take it off, it's traceable, so I'll know where you are." He pushed back the wedding ring that was about to fall off Diana's finger.

Diana turned her face away and smiled discordantly. She didn't even know there was a tracking device on her wedding ring. And also what made Diana even more furious was Alpha Darren's deliberation.

*"You can still say good thing? If you knew my whereabouts, why didn't you come to save me? Why didn't you get suspicious when I wasn't on the road that usually leads to your house? You deliberately wanted me to die at the hands of that kidnapper?"

Alpha Zack pulled Diana's hand as she was about to walk away. "I only believed it when they told me that you couldn't talk. Only our family knows that my wife is you and can't talk. So I left the emergency meeting about the attack on the border by another Pack and came looking for you."

*"It's too late, I don't need your help to save me anymore," Diana replied. Then she took out a wet brown folder from her bag. She threw the folder to Alpha Darren.

Alpha Darren opened the folder and tightened his jaw when he realized it was divorce papers.

*"I want to divorce. No need to worry about the penalty fee, I'll pay it," Diana bravely decided. Because she was so tired of this life, she wanted to end it all.

Chapter 2 The Day We Met Again

A document is thrown on Diana's thigh by Alpha Darren. Alpha Darren also removed the wedding veil Diana was wearing.

Diana had been in the bridal room, waiting to go to the altar, but it didn't seem to be going like a normal wedding.

"Sign the document," Alpha Darren ordered. He had both hands in his pants pockets and his eyes were very sharp, waiting for Diana to do as he ordered.

But Diana didn't take the document, she just looked at it, making Alpha Darren sigh. "That is our marriage contract. I will read it to you," Alpha Darren said coldly. He picked up the document again.

"The first party in the name of Darren Kyne Jarl and the second party in the name of Diana Genevieve, agreed to commit a lifetime contract marriage. The second party replaces her sister in the name of Annabelle Genevieve who ran away, and as collateral for the crimes committed by her father, Frank Genevieve. The contents of the contract are first, no divorce no matter what the reason. Second, the identity of the second party will be hidden in order not to be a threat to the first party. Third, if the second party insists on divorce, it will be required to pay a penalty of 10 million dollars." Alpha Darren took out a pen and gently pulled Diana's hand to hand it over with the marriage contract document.

Diana gave a desperate look, she didn't even have the chance to refuse because she was the only one who could save her mother and her father's family. Diana was just their puppet who lived to remain silent following their orders.

If it wasn't for her little brother who needed her, Diana would probably run away too, disobeying her mother who forced her to marry Alpha Darren.

Diana gripped the pen tightly and signed the contract without checking again. Her life had now passed into the hands of Alpha Darren, a famously cruel and cold Alpha.

Diana handed over the document. *"What else do I need to do now?" She was really fed up, she didn't want to rebel because it was useless, so she would follow their game.

Alpha Darren lowered his head, aligning his face with Diana's, making Diana close her eyes.

Instead of kissing Diana, Alpha Darren whispered something that made Diana even angrier. "With you signing that contract, it means we're already married. There's no need to appear in public or go to the altar, and you can take it all off here."

Diana clutched her wedding dress. Alpha Darren's words made Diana feel humiliated. But Diana still did what Alpha Darren said. She began to take off the accessories attached to her body.

When Diana was about to take off her wedding dress, that's when Alpha Darren stopped Diana's hand. "You want to get out of this place naked?"

Diana gave him a sharp look. *"You told me to take everything off," she replied irritably.

Alpha Darren sighed. He took out their wedding rings and put them on Diana's finger. "Don't ever take that ring off. People can know you're married, but they can't know you're married to me."

Diana looked at the ring that now adorned her finger. *"Then what else? Hurry up and tell me everything now."

Diana tried desperately not to shed her tears even though it made her eyes red.

"We will live together from today, in the same house but in separate rooms," Alpha Darren said. Then he put an anklet on Diana's leg. "It will make a noise every time you walk, that way I'll know you're home. Don't take it off."

Should Diana be grateful that at least she could still save her body? But it seemed like Diana's assumption was wrong because just after saying that, Alpha Darren immediately kissed her.

Diana tried to push him away, but Alpha Darren wrapped his arms around Diana's waist, pulling her close.

This kiss was the first kiss Diana had ever had in her entire life. And she never expected to have her first kiss with someone she hated. Someone who should be married to her sister, not to her.

Diana was out of breath because the kiss lasted so long. That's when Alpha Darren stopped. He wiped Diana's messy lipstick with his thumb.

*"Why are you kissing me? We're just doing a contract marriage, there's no love," Diana said, protesting.

Alpha Darren stopped his thumbs from brushing Diana's lips. "Even though it's a contract marriage, we have to make it look like it's real."

Diana really didn't understand what Alpha Darren was saying. She had no idea to whom they should show this marriage as real.

But suddenly Alpha Darren took out his phone. He wrapped his arms around Diana tightly, opened the camera, and took a picture of them. "Only your parents know that this is a contract marriage, while my parents don't know. They thought you were the real bride. So this photo is needed as proof that we are the real bride and groom."

As it turned out this was the reason, Diana finally understood. She didn't need to misunderstand that Alpha Darren was horny to see her.

"I'm not interested in your body anyway," Alpha Darren said. He looked Diana up and down.

Diana laughed sadly in her heart. It was only the first day of the wedding but she didn't know how many words Alpha Darren had said that hurt her heart.

Diana didn't expect much, she just hoped to survive every day facing Alpha Darren. She didn't expect him to love her or be good to her, because it was impossible.

Diana rubbed the lipstick on her lips roughly. *"I'm not interested in you either. I don't want to be touched by a man who plays with many women."

As a result of those words, Diana was cornered again by Alpha Darren. Diana was confined by Alpha Darren's burly arms. "I've never played with women," Alpha Darren said, denying Diana's accusations.

But Diana didn't believe it. She couldn't believe an Alpha like Alpha Darren had never had fun with a single woman. Diana didn't believe Alpha Darren could hold out that long.

*"Prove it if it's true," Diana challenged.

And that's when Diana regrets her own decision because Alpha Darren finally bites her neck, marking her as his mate.

Diana felt excruciating pain from the marking. Meanwhile, Alpha Darren felt intoxicated by the scent of Diana's body which smelled so sweet and intoxicating.

Alpha Darren could not restrain himself. He kissed Diana again, deeper and more intensely.

Diana pushed Alpha Darren away but then her body felt very weak from being marked by Alpha Darren. So she finally ended up unconscious.

Alpha Darren stopped kissing Diana and hugged her very tightly. His gaze softened and looked very worried. "I'm sorry, I have to do this to free you from your mother's grip. You don't have to obey her that much. Just think about yourself for once." He gently stroked Diana's hair and carried her away from this place, taking Diana to their new home.

Chapter 3 Want to Divorce

Diana's efforts to divorce Alpha Darren failed again. Alpha Darren tore the divorce documents to pieces and took Diana home by force.

Diana was locked in her room all night until she finally escaped when Alpha Darren leaves in the morning.

But Diana doesn't just stay quiet either, she escapes again and goes to the bus stop to meet her coworkers.

Someone opened the car door for Diana. "You want us to...."

Diana interrupted, *"Let's go to the office right away."

"All right," Fred replied. He was a prosecutor who was very kind to Diana at work. It could be said that he was Diana's closest coworker.

All the way Diana was busy fiddling with her phone. She searched for news about the chaos at the border and found it. That's when she sighed.

"What's wrong?" asked Fred, he was worried to see Diana seemed to have a lot on her mind.

*"Nothing. Thank you for giving me a ride to work. My car is being repaired," she said.

"Whenever you need a ride, just let me know, okay?" Fred handed Diana some water.

Diana took it and smiled slightly.

Diana thought that Alpha Darren was lying about why he was late to find her when she was kidnapped, but it turned out that Alpha Darren's reason could be proven by the news she read today.

"Your husband is too busy again to drive you or are you currently running away from him?"

Fred's question made Diana gasp in surprise. But then she nodded. *"He's busy."

All her coworkers did know that she was married because she was wearing the wedding ring that Alpha Darren was not allowed to remove.

Suddenly Diana's phone vibrated, a call from Alpha Darren. He must have gotten the news that Diana ran away.

Diana decided to ignore the call for a few tries.

"It's from your husband, don't you want to pick up? Maybe he has something important to say," Fred suggested.

Diana sighed and finally picked up the call from Alpha Darren because she didn't want to annoy Fred.

[Why did you run away again? Where are you now? Who's the man with you? Send me a message right now."]

Diana immediately hung up the call and closed her phone. She didn't care if Alpha Darren was mad because she was also furious right now. Alpha Darren now even sent spies to monitor Diana's movements, which made Diana no longer free, as if she was locked up.

Diana rushed into the office as soon as she arrived and even forgot to thank Fred.

She went straight to the mediation room. The head of the department said that today's consultation is done online and Diana only needs to note down the client's concerns, without being accompanied by a lawyer.

Diana took a deep breath to calm her mind and prepared to greet her first client. But when the video call was connected, Diana froze in an instant.

Diana's body stiffened as she saw that the client she was dealing with now looked similar to the man who put a knife to her neck when she was kidnapped. Diana even broke out in a cold sweat as she held back her fear.

Her current client was also wearing a mask, making him look even more similar to the kidnapper. The client was also seen smiling with one eye squinted, as if to show Diana that he was the kidnapper from yesterday.

The fear on Diana's face made her pale for sure. Diana could only stare at the screen without being able to move her hands to initiate communication.

Diana was very traumatized by the kidnapping incident yesterday because she almost lost her life. That's what froze her in place.

The door opened, and the head of department saw Diana. "Oh my, Diana, what's wrong with you?" The head of department rushed over to Diana. She realized Diana wasn't okay. "Are you sick? Let me take you to the medical room."

At the same time, her first client's call was cut off before they could communicate.

Diana's eyes were blank. She wondered what exactly the kidnapper wanted that he was trying to appear in front of Diana again. He even contacted Diana's office. That's so crazy!

After being left alone in the medical room, Diana held her head, trying to shake off the voices of the kidnappers who had threatened her that night. She also remembered how she was so meaningless to Alpha Darren that he wouldn't trade the worthless 10 million for Diana's life.

Diana wiped away her tears. With trembling hands she turned on her phone again to send a message to Fred to thank him.

But just as she turned on her phone, she received a notification from the online newspaper she subscribed to. It was news that Alpha Darren would be taking to the field to deal with the riots another Pack had caused at the border.

Diana sighed, decided not to send the message, and put her phone down and went to sleep.

But just as she closed her eyes, Diana's phone vibrated again. Another call from Alpha Darren. And this time Diana immediately picked up the call because she didn't want Alpha Darren to contact her mother, or else her mother would scold Diana badly.

The sound of Alpha Darren's breathing could be heard. [There is no need to send any message. I just wanted to let you know that there will be some female bodyguards who will be guarding you from now on. Don't resist or run away anymore, they will start working to get you home today.]

Diana rubbed her nose but it was heard by Alpha Darren. [Are you crying?] Then Alpha Darren sighed again. [If you obey, then we don't have to fight every day. I'm also tired of you always being like this. Even though you're not my real bride, you've been living with me for a year now. Living with someone who keeps getting mad at me is so frustrating.]

Diana squeezed her shirt. Alpha Darren always succeeded in shrinking Diana because of his harsh words.

[Rest if you're tired, maybe that's why you're so grumpy.]

Then the phone was disconnected.

Diana left the medical room in a hurry to head to the rooftop. She even ran up the stairs because she couldn't bear to scream.

So as soon as the rooftop door was open, Diana started screaming at the top of her lungs. She poured out all her heart, the frustration and anger she held towards Alpha Darren. She could only scream here because she couldn't do it in front of Alpha Darren.

"You bastard Darren! You're driving me crazy! Why won't you divorce me if you don't care about me and want me dead!" Diana's breathing went up and down after letting her heart out.

She walked towards the guardrail, looking down where there was only an office yard with hard asphalt. Diana took a deep breath and exhaled harshly. "I want to divorce! I don't love you, please don't lock me into your world."

Finally Diana burst into tears as her chest felt tight. She beat her chest to get rid of the suffocation. "Why don't you just let me go? I'm not the bride you want and you're not the man I want either. Why stay if we hurt each other every day?" Diana's body finally slumped to the floor. She looked down at the floor soaked with her tears while clutching her phone tightly.

A call came in, this time from an unknown number. So Diana didn't pick it up but then a message came in that made Diana hurriedly pick up the call.

[It turns out that you are afraid too if I bring your brother's name. From now on if I call you, you have to pick up immediately because I'm always watching you. Do you understand?]

Diana looked around her with fear. The kidnapper even knew her brother, he must also know everything about Diana and that was very scary.

[I can see you but you can't see me. But that's not the problem. Your husband doesn't know that you can talk, right? How would he react if he knew that you were lying and he could hear your voice?]

Diana tried not to respond to the kidnapper's words because it could have been a threat to make her talk. She squeezed her phone to vent her fears.

[It wasn't just a threat. I've recorded you cursing at your husband and wanting a divorce].

A new message came in containing the video where Diana was screaming earlier.

"Who are you asshole! What do you want from me!" Finally, Diana couldn't take it anymore, and she was pressured to talk to the kidnapper.

The kidnapper laughed from the other side. [What do I want? I want 10 million dollars. Oh yeah, I also don't want you to divorce your husband or I'll send the video to him. Doesn't that mean you and your mother will be punished if you are caught lying to Alpha Darren?]

Diana bit her inner lip to keep her crying voice from being heard by the kidnapper. She wrinkled her nose to speak clearly. "Why don't you want me to divorce him? Who are you really?"

[It doesn't matter who I am. Just prepare the money in cash. I'll send the place and time you need to send it."]

After the call was disconnected, Diana immediately threw her phone. "No one wants me to be happy, they're all just enjoying seeing me suffer."

Diana wouldn't have survived this far if it wasn't for her brother. She stayed with Alpha Darren because her mother asked her to. Diana couldn't argue because her mother was paying for her brother's medical bills. If Diana divorced, the medical bills would be cut off. That's why Diana is working, collecting money so that she can pay for her brother's treatment independently so that she can be free from both her mother and Alpha Darren.

Hence Diana was very frustrated at this time, how could she collect 10 million dollars in such a short period of time? Even the money she had collected for her brother didn't reach that amount.

"You should just kill me instead of torturing me like this." Diana beat her chest, which felt tight again.

Her phone which had cracked its screen vibrated again, Alpha Darren was calling her again.

[Are you okay?] Alpha Darren asked as soon as Diana picked up the call, as if he knew that the kidnapper had just threatened Diana.

Diana chuckled sadly. She felt that the question was useless because since being married to Alpha Darren, Diana had never been okay.

She quickly sent a message to answer the question. That was how she communicated if she was called by Alpha Darren.

*"Why ask me how I was? I'm okay or not, you don't care anyway. You only care about your business, you're asking about my condition because you were asked by my mother since I didn't answer her call, right?]

Alpha Darren sighed. [So glad you're okay. Stay in your office, don't come out for now.]

Diana sighed in disgust. She was still typing a reply when suddenly there was a loud bang from the phone, making Diana's ears buzz painfully.

Diana was still digesting what happened when the large billboard facing her office broadcasted the hot news about the explosion at Alpha Darren's office.

Diana immediately tried to contact Alpha Darren again, but the call was not connected. "Come on, pick up my call!" Diana shouted in frustration, her tears falling again. "Tell me you're at the border, not the office."
