SIXTEEN YEARS AGO
Ariana, the Luna of the blood moon pack had just put to bed when the shocking news came that their pack was under attack, there was chaos everywhere, the attackers knew just when to strike, their pack has been formidable for years and there was peace after they had removed the pack's last leader and her husband, Alpha Dylan has taken over the leadership, with a witch as his Luna, no one dares them, so, she must commend their attacker, they knew just when to strike and they hit unexpectedly, her husband Dylan rushed into the room where she had just pushed out their baby, his face etched o worry but softened when he beheld their baby boy, "my boy, his name will be called Aidan" his tone was soft as he trailed his hand on his son's face, "Alpha, they've broken through the barriers and are inside already, our men are dying"
"Go!" Ariana whispered softly taking the child from him, "we'll be fine, your pack needs their Alpha"
Dylan choked as he placed a kiss on her forehead, he stood up, his eyes taking on a look that she knew all too well, he would protect his people even with the last drop of his blood, Ariana watched him leave with a heavy heart, there were screams of terror all over as their weapon shook the building, the midwives with her had scampered away for safety, she can't just stay here and watch everyone die, first, she needed to protect her son, just as she was about to stand up, Samantha, her sister rushed in, she was still in her wedding dress for she had just gotten married to her love, Damien, in fact, they were still at her reception when Ariana's water had broken and she entered labor, it was supposed to be a joyous day, first, her sister had gotten married, second, she had welcomed her son with Dylan but instead of celebration, here they are, facing attack, "are you okay?" Samantha asked, concern written all over her and Ariana nodded, "we should move to the secret room, it's not safe here" there was worry and fear in her tone, she has the right to be afraid, she had left the human world to start a new life with her werewolf husband in his pack and on the day of her wedding, they were under attacks, both their husbands were at the battle front, Ariana, stared at her baby and placed a kiss on his forehead, she would rather die than let any harm come to him, "let's go to the secret room" she and Sam went to where they thought they would be safe but got a shocker instead, everyone in there was dead, all slain, Ariana looked at the child in her arms as it dawned on her that they might not leave here alive, but she won't leave her husband, never, neither will she allow her child to be harmed, a thought formed in her head, there is still a way out, a passage that only she and Dylan knew about, the decision she was about to take is indeed a very tough one, but she had no choice, she would have to do it, tears formed in her eyes as she nodded for Sam to come with her, they passed through the passage, the other side was a river, she would have to let her baby go, it's for the best, she grabbed the amulet she was wearing and placed it on him, "this will keep you safe my boy, mom will look for you, I promise"
"What are you doing Ariana? You should go with him, you're not strong enough to fight"
"No Sam, I can't leave my husband behind, he needs me and I won't bail when he needs me the most"
"B-but..."
"I'll stay and fight with my love, but what about you, this is your chance to escape " Samantha shook her head, "I won't be leaving my husband," she said fiercely, "he has thought me how to use a sword, It's time to put it into practice " Ariana stared at her sister and nodded, the life of a werewolf is one rugged and not for the feeble-hearted, Sam was far from feeble-hearted, Ariana was proud of her sister's decision at the same time scared for her, "let me give my nephew a kiss before you send him away, after kissing him, Ariana gently placed him in the safety boat and pushed gently, tears gathered in her eyes as she watches the boat float away, "I'll find you" she whispered tearfully. Sam hugged her and she sighed, time to go to her husband.
"What are you doing? you should not be here " Dylan shouted amidst the cries of battle, "my place belongs with you" she replied as she went to him so they were standing back to back, "where's Aidan?" He asked just as he dodged a sword, aiming at the person's chest, he did what he knows to do, in a heartbeat, he has the person's heart in his hand, "wooo, not bad" Ariana praised, "Aidan is in a safe place" she responded with some feelings, not allowing herself to think about him, she needed to be strong right now, Dylan glanced at her briefly, he knew all his wife's unspoken emotions but now is not the right time to analyze it, he first needed to save his pack from the onslaught, from the corner of his eyes, he saw someone aiming at his best friend, Damien, who was busy fighting three others all at once, "Damien, watch out!!!" He called out to warn him but as the attacker raised his sword, Samantha, blocked it before it could reach him, Dylan was relieved, he was glad his friend now have someone in his life, they would protect each other, it's ironic to watch the two of them fighting in their wedding attire, from his side, his wife fought alongside with him, after taking out her last opponent, she held her head and would have fallen but Dylan caught her, that moment distraction was enough for their bloodthirsty opponent to pierce him an arrow, it was just an arrow but his blood started burning, it contained wolfsbane poison, he made Ariana seat on the floor and stood in front of her, he would protect her with his dying breath, he was able to take on three more at a time before he fell on his knees and chains was made to go around him, seeing their leader down made his people lose hope.
Ariana, watched as they were putting those chains around her husband, it showed they don't want to kill him right away but would rather torture him first, well, not if she could help it, she was weak and dizzy but she have to do this, she started chanting and one by one, they started holding their head and falling, she felt strength leaving her but she didn't stop, she can't stop now, and so she continued until they were all dropped, with the bit of strength remaining in her, she placed it on Dylan and continued her chants, blood was streaming from her eyes and ears but she can't stop, Dylan's life depends on her right now, she can't let him die, so she kept chanting and smiled when he was able to break the chains from around him, she did it, she coughed out blood before falling to the ground unconscious.
Dylan carried her and rushed inside with Damien on his tour, he can't lose her now, he'll be lost if he loses his wife, she's his Luna, his mate, his everything, Damien tapped him on the shoulders, "she'll be fine, let me take a look"
Dylan paced, they have won the battle, but why does it feel like he lost instead.

PRESENT DAY: SIXTEEN YEARS LATER
Author's POV
"Aires, wake up sleepy head, you're gonna be late for school" Jasmine called out, walking into my room without even a knock, I groaned as I turned over in my bed, "next time I'll remember to lock my door, you don't walk into a boy's room that way" Jasmine only rolled her eyes at me, to think that her little brother is now seeking for privacy never cease to amaze her, who would have thought that the baby she found in that safety boat that day would turn out to be not just her brother but her best friend, she adore him to the moon, her mother had developed problem with her womb after giving birth to Jasmine and so could not ever conceive again, she had been lonely and had always envy those with siblings to play with but was careful not to bring up the matter inorder not to make her mom feel bad, them that fateful day, she had found a baby brother, she used to have dreams that his parents would come for him but as days turned into months and months into years, yet no one had come to take him away, her fears began to dissipate, she looked at him now and dragged off the blanket from his body, "wake up, dad is back and headed toward this room" she laughed softly as she watched him jumped up from the bed, "there you are, that's a very effective way to wake you up" Aires feigned vexation as she throw a pillow at her, "I'm off to college" she said airily as she went out, Aires ran a hand over his face as he went into the bathroom, indeed, Jasmine had found a very effective way to wake him up, for some reason, he just didn't get along with his dad, no matter how hard he tries, he just wouldn't be pleased with him and so, he has become his biggest weakness as he always have to pull stunts inorder to get his father's attention, his mother had told him not to let it bother him but he couldn't help it, it bothers him quite a lot, his mother had told him that his dad wasn't always this aloof,he changed when his only brother had been killed, although, he wasn't born then but as the story would have it, his brother was a wolf hunter and had gone to capture a particular werewolf named Dylan Sabastine but instead got his heart ripped out by the werewolf, although, when it happened, no one knew it was Dylan Sabastine because everyone saw him as a popular business tycoon, not until he changed his form right in public after being stabbed by the woman he loved and that was the end, he was carted away by another werewolf and since then, no one knew about his were about, wether he's dead or alive remains a mystery, such a bizzaire story, he sometimes do wonder if stuffs like werewolves actually does exist but since his dad was sure if who killed his brother and over the years had kept on sending different wolf hunters to look for Dylan, who was he not to believe, one day, he would make his father look at him with pride because, after high school, he would search out the Dylan Sabastine himself and kill him with his bare hand, he could already imagine how happy his father would be if he does that.
He turned on the shower and allowed the coolness to run through his body, he was pretty late for his class but who cares, everyone sees him as the son of Dawson Garg, the founder and CEO of DG jewelry, and dares not question him, he was seen as a God in the school, he switched off the shower and dried himself up, putting in his uniform, he stared at himself in the mirror, he never fails to admire his good looks, his molten colored eyes that usually seemed odd to him but yet pretty in a kind of way, he neither took after his mom nor his dad, he was handsome in a very charming way and makes all the girls in his school go crazy whenever they see him, he twisted his mouth upward, flashing his dimple as he finished dressing, his phone rang just as he was about to leave the room, it was Derrick, his best friend, "Xup dude"
"You can't believe who's transferring to our school today" Aires frowned at the excitement he heard in his friend's voice, it piqued his curiosity, "who?"
"It's Celine Pauline" Aires' heart pricked at the mention of the name but he made sure he sounded bored, "the actress?" He asked feigning nonchalance, Celine Pauline had been his biggest crush, she started acting as a child and he had always followed her and now she's transferring to his school? "Cool"
Derrick's tone sounded surprised, that wasn't the response he was expecting from his friend, Celine commands the heart of every guy, although he doesn't understand what his friend wants, he always acts so cool when it comes to matters as such, "I'll see you in school" Aires said as he hung up, he quickly ran to the mirror to check his appearance once more, adding a bit of extra oil to his hair and checking his brow, in a moment he was so excited to go to school, he rushed downstairs, "Mom, I'm off" he called out rushing off but he was immediately stopped by his mother, "young man, you're not leaving this house without eating"
Aires groaned, he wasn't in the mood to eat but he couldn't displease his mother, so he rushed back and quickly put two spoonfuls of food in his mouth, kissed his mother goodbye on her cheeks, and rush off, "what's the rush?" His mother called as he got into his car and drove off.
"She's here," Derrick said as soon as he stopped his car, Derrick had been waiting for him at where he usually packs his car, "who's here?" Derrick's eyes widened in surprise, "how could you forget, I mean Celine Pauline, don't you want to see her?"
"Why should I want to meet her? I am not interested in her" he lied through his teeth feigning a nonchalance that he didn't feel, "For real?" Henry, his friend number two had come to join them and had heard the last part of their conversation, he wonder the kind of girl that will appeal to Aires, no girl ever appeal to him no matter how beautiful, imagine him not being interested in Celine, he would give his entire school fees to have just a moment with her, "yes dude, I'm not interested, come on, let's go to class" he urged, if there's one thing he doesn't like is missing class while in school, that's why he always emerge the best student of the school, he's just so good in everything he does add to the fact that he's so handsome, what girl wouldn't love him?

"She's coming our way" Derrick whispered excitedly and Aires looked up to indeed see Celine coming their way, his heart did a little flip-flop but he quickly rein it in, he was always known to be aloof and cold and he liked to keep up the facade, she stopped right in front of him, damn, she's more beautiful in real life than in screen, his palm immediately grew sweaty and he was aware that other students had suddenly formed a circle about them, the guys were eyeing him enviously because she was the only person Celine had deemed worthy to talk to and the girls were green with envy that their prince charming will soon fall for the beautiful teen actress, she brought out her hand for a handshake, "I believe you know me already, I am Celine" Aires stared at her hand, his heart pounding painfully in his chest, he had suddenly lost his voice, what was wrong with him, he had to get a grip and so without answering nor accepting her handshake, he simply walked away, leaving her standing there amidst the gasps of other students.
Author's POV
Daisy groaned aloud as her alarm binged, she always doesn't wake up at the first sound of her alarm, her hand snaked out from under her blanket as she stopped the alarm, she smiled, what a blessed quietness, peace, at last, she coiled up in bed and covered the duvet over her head as she delved once more into dream Land.
"Daisy you're going to be late for class" her mother's voice penetrated into her fog-filled brain, "just another alarm" she muttered but this was an alarm she couldn't stop.
It was winter period and she hated coming out of the warmth of her bed, so she ignored her mother's voice and continued with her sleep.
"Daisy, Daisy" she heard her mother call her repeatedly, she heard footsteps as her mom jerked the blanket away from her, "if you're going to be late for school young lady, don't make me late for my work"
"Don't make me late for school also" her younger sister Alice chirped
Daisy stretched and rubbed her eyes, her gaze fell on Alice who was already dressed for school and she frowned, how did she manage to always wake up so early even in this winter period.
They are both in high school, with Alice's school just a block from hers, her eyes fell on her bedside clock and her eyes widened as she jumped down from bed, completely throwing the blanket off her.
"Jeez mom, I'm gonna be late for class" she screeched as she dashed into the bathroom, from the corner of her eyes, she saw Alice rolling her eyes just before she dashed into the bathroom and she heard her mom mutter, "yeah right".
She quickly had a warm bath, she smiled when she came out to see her mom had already arranged her school wears for her on the bed, she quickly put them in and ran downstairs for her breakfast, she almost trip down the stairs, "don't go falling on your face again, so clumsy" Alice muttered with a shake of her head
"Is that how to talk to your big sis?" Daisy snapped as she sat at the table for breakfast and Alice snickered earning her a slap on the head from Daisy.
"Mom, Daisy just slapped me"
"I did not" Daisy denied.
"Can you girls just have your breakfast in peace so that we can leave" their mother's exasperated voice could be heard as she came out from the kitchen and placed their meals on the table and Daisy stuck out her tongue to Alice who groaned in anger.
"I saw that Daisy, behave yourself" her mother reprimanded and Alice glanced at her with a look of triumph as they all started eating, soon they were through and their mom drove them to school.
That evening, over dinner, Their mother cleared her throat, "I have news for you girls" she announced and they both glanced up at her, waiting for her to spill.
"I've been transferred to the states"
Daisy's heart thudded and she didn't wanna hear what was coming next, "we're moving" her mother announced glancing at them both. Alice squealed, "yeah, I'm gonna make new friends, I'm damn tired of my friends here, they're so picky" but Daisy wasn't feeling the same excitement, she don't want to move to another damn state, she loves it here, she loves her school and her small group of friends, she thought of her crush Kyle, she had a crush on him for so long, even if he hadn't glanced her way for once, she's contented just watching him from afar, "no" she gasped and her mother quickly walked to her side, "why sweetheart, you're gonna love it there I promise, you'll make new friends".
Daisy stood up, throwing her napkin on the table, tears forming in her eyes, "no mom, I don't want new friends, I like it here"
"You don't have a choice in this young lady, we're talking about my job here, we're moving next week" her mother inserted a d Daisy couldn't take it anymore, she dashed upstairs and banged the door behind her.
"Don't worry mom, she'll come around" she heard Alice say to their mom
"I know, I'm glad you're cool with it" she heard her mom reply before she shut them out of her head, she burrowed into her blanket and shut her eyes, she thought of her best friend Penelope, she was gonna miss her and then her thoughts went back to Kyle her crush, his Sandy hair that's always scattered from the breeze and his blue laughing eyes, he was every girl's fantasy and she had been his secret admirer since junior high school, the thought of leaving him broke her heart, she would miss him.
She wiped a tear and picked up her phone, dialing Penelope's number, she gave her the news of her leaving.
"Oh my! Daisy, I'm gonna miss you" Penelope cried.
"I'll miss you too Penelope, I don't wish to leave"
"But you can't stay behind, you have to be with your family".
Daisy was silent for a while, her mind on Kyle.
"You're thinking of Kyle, aren't you?" Penelope asked in a knowing voice, it was a secret they both shared, Penelope had always encouraged Daisy to tell Kyle about her feelings but Daisy had been too chicken-hearted to do so.
"Yeah, I'll miss Kyle a lot, it hurts that I'm parting with him" Daisy answered her best friend quietly and they both grew quiet for a while.
"Why don't you tell him how you feel before leaving?"
"What good will come out of it, I'm leaving anyway" she could hear Penelope sighed
"Do not forget, I'm your BFF" Penelope said from the other end and Daisy understood her message
"None can replace you, you'll always be my BFF" Daisy retorted as she hung up, tears rolling down her cheeks, she lay on the bed and burrowed into its warmth, she thought of where they were moving to and wondered how the school would look like, she wondered if she would make any friends at all.
Ms. Lorna, Daisy's mother wore a worried frown that night as she paced in her room, she knew Daisy wouldn't take the news of their moving very well but never knew she would react so strongly against it, was she doing the right thing? She asked herself for what seemed like the hundredth time just as her phone rang, she glanced at the caller and quickly picked, "hello Jeremy" her voice came out in a croak and she cleared it before repeating herself.
"Are you okay?" His voice was laced with concern even over the phone and Lorna closed her eyes briefly, trying to rein in her emotions, "did something happen to the kids?"
"I just Informed them about our moving, as expected, Alice took it well but I am afraid, I can't say the same for Daisy" Jeremy was quiet for a moment and a ting of doubt suddenly ran through Lorna's heart, "do you think we're doing the right thing?" Her voice mirrored her doubt as she spoke.
"I hope so Lorna, I am sorry for what I am making you go through"
"what if the kids find out the truth?" There was a momentary silence as if he was pondering on her question before his reply finally came, "we'll take it one step at a time, someday, they'll have to learn about the truth and we'll handle it then"
Lorna sighed as she hung up the phone. Jeremy was her high school sweetheart, they had been separated for years, she had married but then her husband had left without even a word, till date, she had no idea where he could be, Jeremy had also gotten married but had recently divorced and so, they had decided to build their relationship once more, he had one daughter with his ex-wife and she had two daughters, they planned on starting a new life with their kids but none has had the courage to inform the kids of their plans, they'll take it one day at a time, so, she had decided to move to his town, and when the kids are finally settled, they'll take their time to make them understand why they both want to get married.
