Chapter 1 I Won't Lose You For The Second Time

In the elevator of Windsor Holiday Inn

It was hot,

so hot!

Cassie Bo leaned against Alice Qi's shoulder. The airtight space in the elevator made Cassie Bo a little out of breath. She then shut her eyes.

The medicine mixed into the alcohol she drank was already taking effect. Her cheeks flushed.

Glancing at Cassie Bo, Alice Qi clenched her fists as her eyes flashed in rage.

'I'll be the only one Adam loves. I'll take everything from you, Cassie. Just wait and see.'

With her bag pulling her back down to a slouch, Cassie Bo blinked drowsily. "Alice, how long will it take for us to get there already? I feel terrible," she whined exhaustedly. Her arms were already lying limp on her sides.

"We're here." Alice smiled.

As if hearing Cassie Bo's complaints, the elevator finally opened. Suddenly, a gust of cold air blew them over. Cassie Bo shivered at the sudden change of temperature.

On the top floor of the hotel, a man with long legs stepped onto the red Persian carpet. The warm light highlighted the woman's smooth skin. Her little black dress left little to the imagination.

"Room 0969, Cassie. You're here."

The moment Cassie Bo stepped out of the elevator, she could already feel her vision wavering around her.

She was sure to faint at any given moment. Steadying her, Alice Qi plastered a smile on her face. "We're here. How about you go in first? I'll get you some hangover pills."

Raising her gaze to look at her, Cassie Bo giggled. "You're so kind, Alice," she slurred, barely able to string her words together.

"It's my pleasure."

Alice Qi stared through the crack of the door. She could make out a naked man standing in front of the French window by the living room.

Dylan Lu rubbed his temples and stared at the hazy night. He was a little drunk from the alcohol he had during his business meeting.

Seeing the man, Alice Qi was relieved.

She pushed Cassie Bo towards the door. "Go in. I'll be back, okay?"

"Hurry up."

With a hiccup, Cassie Bo nodded. Without giving Alice a chance to reply, she kicked off her heels and stumbled into the room.

"Oh, the show has just begun, Cassie." Alice smirked.

The temperature in the room only made her face even redder. If it got any more hotter, she was about to bleed! The alcohol had already intoxicated her mind. Her entire surroundings were already swaying from left to right, as if they were there to wave 'hello'.

Hearing the footsteps, Dylan Lu turned around with a frown. He had just taken a shower, and he still hadn't changed into his pajamas.

Only a white bath towel was wrapped around his lower extremities. His lean body and eight-pack abs were exposed to the air. The remaining droplets of water slid down his detailed muscles, arousing her almost immediately. She blinked wearily, not aware of her actions anymore.

Seeing the strange woman, Dylan Lu scowled.

"Get out."

However, the medicine had already spread through her system. What the hell was she going to do? It was getting hotter and hotter. She felt as if fire was coursing through her veins.

Maybe she needed to sleep? 'Yes, sleep is nice,' she thought.

Cassie threw her handbag to the side and tried to unzip her dress, only to scowl when the zipper wouldn't budge.

Frustrated, she decided to pull the straps off her shoulders, revealing her delicate collarbone.

A pair of warm hands slid across Cassie's shoulders, causing her to shiver.

Holding her shoulders, Dylan Lu gritted his teeth. "Get out."

Cassie turned and stretched out her arm. A man had just appeared in front of her in a figure of a shadow. She frowned, pointing at the man in front of her.

The shadow was getting even more blurry, but she was sure it was Adam Shen.

'Adam! Why are there two of them?'

"Adam," she moaned out. Cassie had never been this provocative her entire life.

Adam Shen was her boyfriend. She was actually allowed to bring an extra person to the party. She had planned to bring Adam Shen, but since he had something urgent to deal with, she decided to invite her best friend Alice.

A surge of surprise surged through her

as she wrapped her arms around his hips.

'I miss you,' she thought.

Disgust flashed in his eyes as he grabbed her wrists and tried to wrench her off of him.

The pain brought her a little bit consciousness to what she was doing. She blinked.

'Shit! It's the wine... There must be something in it!'

She turned around to see that the culprit was nowhere to be seen.

"Fuck off!" Dylan tried to shove her off.

However, Cassie wasn't planning on letting him go. She leaned her head against his chest and gazed up at him with her misty eyes. "Don't push me," she snapped.

Seeing her weary gaze, his heart skipped a beat. "It's you?" he whispered.

It was her! She was here...right in front of him.

'She's back!

But who the hell is Adam?' Before he could think more,

she pressed her lips against his.

He froze, as if he had just been struck by lightning. His mind went blank.

'Was she always like this?' he thought as he pressed himself towards her.

Warmth spread across his veins as he wrapped his arms around the woman in front of him. He couldn't help it.

'Adam...' Although the name was familiar, he couldn't remember where he heard it before.

"You've lost your chance to go back on your word," he whispered.

Cassie smirked. "I don't regret any of my decisions."

The two bodies fell onto the white bed. A touch of scarlet drenched the sheets as their bodies were entangled with one other.

In a daze, she could hear him say, "I won't let you go the second time."

Outside the door, a man who was pushing a dining cart across the corridor furtively opened the room and glanced around. Skillfully avoiding the cameras, he took out his phone and aimed the camera at the pair. A playful smile slipped into his lips.

Dazzling sunlight streamed through the window, waking Cassie up almost immediately.

She squinted her eyes and twisted her body around the bed, only to feel a sharp pain from her hips.

Cassie furrowed her eyebrows. Above her was a luxurious chandelier and beside her was a wide desk. The furnishings were all different from the room that she had booked.

What happened? Where was she? Her head pounded, causing her to cringe away from the light.

Wasn't she supposed to be at a party?

The last thing she remembered was that it was nine o'clock in the evening.

They were in the grand hall on the second floor of the Windsor Holiday Inn. Crystal chandeliers reflected the dim light, creating an ambiguous and charming atmosphere. The leaves rustled in agreement. The hall was filled with lots of people as they all raised their glasses in celebration. Laughter filled the hall.

It was the annual meeting of a certain literary website.

Because of Cassie's splendid first work, she was lucky enough to be invited to the annual meeting. She was even allowed to bring in a plus one.

Her first reaction was to bring her boyfriend, but since he had some urgent business matters to get to, she decided to bring her best friend Alice.

Cassie squinted her eyes, trying to recall more of what had happened.

She remembered Alice giving her glass after glass... After that, she was sent back to her room. Cassie pursed her lips. She couldn't recall what happened next.

'Forget it. I don't want to think about it anymore.'

Her arms stretched up into the air, and she winced. A sharp pain pounded in her waist. She groaned.

Cassie lifted her quilt, wanting to stand up. But a certain breeze held her back. She shivered at the sudden openness before glancing at her body.

What the hell? Cassie shrieked, looking around. She was naked!

She could already see her clothes scattered across the cushions of the bed. Without another thought, she screamed and ran into the bathroom in a hurry.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she glanced at the mirror. There were evident red marks on her neck.

'Did I sleep with Adam last night?' she thought. Cassie raised her fingers to examine the red marks, wincing as she did so.

She put on a bathrobe in a hurry when she heard a familiar voice.

"Adam, see for yourself."

Chapter 2 Shameless

As soon as Cassie walked out of the bathroom, she could see two people entering the room.

Holding Adam's hand, Alice gazed proudly at her.

Actually, Adam was already planning to break up with Cassie that day. Ever since she started writing books, she didn't have much time to be with him. Compared to Alice's frequent care, Cassie was much colder to him.

Besides, the only reason why he chased after her was because of the bet he made with his roommate. Obviously, he won that bet.

He actually liked Alice better. Besides, she was even more considerate than Cassie.

Adam actually refused to attend the annual meeting with Cassie because Alice wanted to go. This was why he said that he had other business matters to attend to. He came into this room with guilt rising in his chest,

but the moment he saw the scene right before him, he gritted his teeth in anger.

At the moment, Cassie was only wearing a bathrobe. Hickeys were displayed all over her neck and collarbone, giving him a hint of what had happened last night.

He looked at her in disbelief before gazing at his surroundings.

The dress and underwear that she had worn last night were still displayed on the ground. Without thinking, his palm fell on her face.

"Shameless!"

The impact made Cassie fall onto the ground.

A searing pain went through her cheek.

Alice hid her smirk as she rushed to Cassie's side. "Cassie, are you okay?"

She pretended to glare at the man. "What the hell? How could you hit her, Adam?"

Cassie had never been slapped her entire life. Her childhood years were spent being spoiled by her own parents. Tears streamed down her cheeks and fell on the carpet.

He had actually hit her... How dare him!

He slapped her.

When she heard Alice call him by his name, she froze.

Adam?

Cassie gazed at the pair in astonishment.

When did they become so intimate with another?

As if he could read her mind, Adam cleared his throat. "I was actually guilty when I came here to break up with you, but seeing that you've decided to sleep with another man, I guess we're even. We're over. Alice and I are in love now."

There was absolutely no guilt in Adam's voice. It was as if what he said made perfect sense.

Cassie felt sick all over as she clutched her stomach. She used to be so eloquent, but now, she couldn't even string a few words together.

She gritted her teeth as she gazed at the pair in disgust. "Get out!" she choked out.

With a mocking smile, he held Alice's hand. "Let's go."

Alice glanced at Cassie wearily. "Adam, I actually have something to tell her. Do you mind waiting for me outside?"

He smiled lovingly. "Okay, baby."

Once Adam had left, Alice crossed her arms and smirked at the fallen woman. "Cassie, how does it feel when your most precious thing has been taken away from you?" She cackled. "You can speak now."

The pride in her heart didn't allow her to cry. Cassie clenched her fists and stood up, sneering at her so-called best friend. "You tell me. What's the feeling of picking up someone's garbage?" she snarled.

Alice wasn't expecting that remark. She flushed deep red and was about to raise her hand to slap her.

However, Cassie grabbed her wrist quickly and gave her a hard slap. Without missing a beat, Cassie shoved her to the ground.

Alice covered her face in disbelief.

Sitting leisurely on the edge of the bed, Cassie sneered. "Since you just love to pick up other people's scrap, then I might as well give Adam to you. Since he's just slapped me, I might as well return the favor. From now on, you're nothing to me!"

Anger was written all over Alice's face.

'That bitch!' She clenched her fists. Alice hated Cassie. Why did everything have to be about her? Alice knew that her qualifications were more outstanding than that bitch's, yet she was the one who had gotten famous overnight! 'Didn't that bitch deliberately bring me that party to show off?'

The more Alice thought about it, the angrier she became. Alice stood up as tears streamed down her cheeks. She clenched her jaw. "Just wait and see, bitch!" she spat out.

Cassie snorted indifferently.

"Let's wait and see indeed."

Downstairs of the Windsor Holiday Inn

Dylan's customized leather shoes tapped against the tiles. He was sporting a black Armani suit and a coat of the same color. His handsome face was filled with coldness. Without another word, he pursed his lips and walked through the revolving door.

However, as he was about to go home, a crowd of reporters blocked his way. He had absolutely no choice but to return to the hotel. The news that his secretary had shown him this morning lingered in his mind.

The doorman bowed his head. "Hello, sir."

Behind him stood an array of bodyguards. Countless cameras were flashing his way as his security guards did their best to push them back.

His neat hair flickered under the warm sunlight. Frowning, Dylan walked forward as if he didn't see the reporters crowding over him.

"Today's exclusive report is about, the richest man in Asia and CEO of the Hooey Group, Mr. Dylan," a reporter said to the camera. "He had just returned home three days ago and appeared in a hotel wrapped around a mysterious woman. A suspected relationship is exposed. Now, we ask ourselves, who is this mysterious woman?"

There was a pause. "On a famous website, the leading man of the new book written by a popular female e-writer shares many similarities with Mr. Dylan. In fact, even the setup is the same. What do you think the writer and Mr. Dylan are up to? Let's find out!"

-

Tears streamed down Cassie's cheeks once they left.

"It's not worth it. These tears aren't worth it," she mumbled to herself.

However, the more she comforted herself, the more tears fell down her face.

How could she not be devastated? She was not only drugged by her best friend, but her boyfriend also broke up with her. What was worse, she just lost her virginity to a man she didn't even remember!

The most ridiculous thing was that she never suspected that they would betray her like this.

Cassie sobbed. "They're not the only ones in your life, Cassie. You have your parents... Yes, your parents," she muttered.

"They'll be there for me."

Her phone rang just in time. Wiping the tears from her cheeks, she grabbed her phone.

Seeing the strange number, a cold feeling rushed through her system.

Her mother, Maggie Shen, was addicted to gambling. Given that, there were many hooligans who were after Cassie, so she changed her number every now and then.

There was an unusual silence at the other end of the line.

Cassie took a deep breath and plastered a smile on her face. "Hello?"

Sean Bo kept silent for a long time until he heard Cassie's voice. He exhaled.

"Cassie...your mother just committed suicide."

Chapter 3 Your Mother Passed Away

Cassie furrowed her eyebrows and stared into space. "No. How is that possible? She was fine when I left!"

Sean sighed. Cassie could hear that her father was trembling at the other end of the line. "The debt collectors were coming. After you left, she acted very strangely. She said that she wanted to go out and buy some vegetables...but she never came back. Last night, the police reported that they'd found a corpse in an abandoned area. Rita was the one who had informed me that it was your mother."

Although he said the facts as slowly as possible, it still didn't seem to register in her mind. Suicide. It wasn't possible. No matter how much Cassie thought about it, she just couldn't imagine that her mother would commit such a thing. 'Why would she do that? Hasn't she already paid off all her debts?' Cassie gritted her teeth.

"No. That isn't possible! When I finished the book, I wired all the money to their account. She's practically debt-free! Why would Mom do that?" she asked him a series of questions, failing to comprehend the depth of the scenario. After everything that had happened this morning, it would be an understatement to say that she was drained from the events.

"There are three more creditors. Your mother owes five million in total," he reiterated.

Cassie's mind was already buzzing as different thoughts went through her mind. Her hands were trembling at the thought of her mother owing this much money.

Before she could ask anything more, a deep voice took over the phone. "It's either you pay your money back or consider your home destroyed."

Cassie almost dropped her phone from the shock. She closed her eyes, wanting this nightmare to end. "What are you doing with my father's phone? Who are you?" she yelled.

"Cassie, right? Listen, I'll give you a week to raise that five million. Generous, right? Now, if you don't get that money wired to me by the end of the week, then don't expect to see your father again!"

Her father screamed at the background and she stiffened.

"My father is sick! What the hell are you doing to him?" she demanded hoarsely. Cassie could barely string her words together as she shook in fear. It was as if her world was falling apart right in front of her. "What you're doing is illegal!"

A scream came from the other end of the line.

Without adding anything more, the man hung up.

Cassie finally broke down.

Tears streamed down her face as she threw her phone at the edge of the bed. She gritted her teeth.

Everything was out of control. It was as if Alice herself planned her whole life to crash at this very moment.

Cassie breathed shakily, and her body couldn't stop itself from trembling. "Calm down," she whispered. "Calm down."

She gradually steadied herself. Grabbing her phone, she stared at all the missed calls, seeing that Sean had called her countless of times before this.

Cassie wanted to pick up her dress and put it on again, but she found that the fabric had already been torn to pieces.

A sense of helplessness overwhelmed her.

Although the warm sun shone through the windowpane, Cassie still felt as if she was trapped in an area of winter and despair.

What the hell was she going to do now?

Her father was the only family she had left. How was she going to raise 5 million dollars to save him?

The reporters followed Dylan all the way into the hall, pointing their cameras towards his face.

"Mr. Dylan, could you explain the photos that were taken of you and that mysterious woman last night?"

"Is the woman your girlfriend?"

The reporters squeezed all the way from the hall to the private elevator. Although some of them tried to sneak in, the bodyguards caught up to them and pulled them out of the tight space. Soon enough, the elevator closed, keeping the noise outside.

In the aisle outside the presidential suite, Dylan pulled his tie irritably.

'How did the woman get in that night? How was I drugged by that glass of wine?' he thought.

With a click, the bedroom door swung open.

Cassie was still sobbing at the edge of the bed. It was obvious that the man didn't expect her to be here at this time.

Dylan strode over to the side of the bed and wrenched her face to look at him in the eyes.

"Woman," he snarled. "Were you the one who sent the photos to the press? Do you want to blackmail me? Huh? Let me tell you that you're not the first woman who wanted to hook up with me. You're not getting anything from me. You got that?"

The tears in her eyes still hadn't faded. She stared up at him, wincing in pain.

Glancing at his expensive clothing choices, Cassie was reminded of how the kidnapper had threatened her. Her father's scream echoed in her mind.

A glimmer of hope rose in her heart.

"Sir, do you mind lending me five million dollars?" Cassie choked out. "I–I want to save my father. Please. If you don't agree, then–then I'll sue you!"

She asked for money as soon as he came here? Did she have any shame? She even dared to threaten him! Was she sent by Jasper Geng to set him up?

However, even then, he just couldn't bear to see a woman cry in front of him. Women were just incredibly troublesome to deal with. He squinted his eyes and sighed irritably.

But there was something about her tear-streaked face that softened his heart.

He turned around. "Fine, but you'd better not talk to the press."

Cassie quickly wiped her tears and swallowed down her sobs. "Yes. Yes, of course. As long as you can save my father now, then I'll do anything! Three years! In three years, I can pay you back."

Dylan couldn't help but think back to what his grandmother Pearl Qin had just demanded from him half an hour ago.

"Why didn't you tell me you have a girlfriend? Do I need to watch the news to receive any update from you? I'm 74 already! And you're 28! Is it that difficult for me to have a great grandson? I don't care who she is! She's going to be my granddaughter-in-law. Either take her home and let me have a look, or you might as well hand over the shares of the HY Entertainment and come back to your family company!" she demanded before hanging up.

Dylan turned around. Sunlight reflected from his back. He looked similar to a god that was descending from the heavens.

It was hard for Cassie to see his face clearly. He took out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to her.

He cleared his throat and attempted to comfort her. "Don't cry. I'll fix this, but you have to promise me one condition."

She blinked in surprise.

Cassie stopped crying and took the handkerchief from his hand. "I won't do anything that's against the law," she warned.

Astonishment flashed in his eyes. "I'm not interested in finding someone who would do such a thing," he said lowly.

Cassie handed him back the handkerchief. He waved his hand dismissively. "Keep it."

She raised her gaze to look at him. "What's your condition?"

"We'll talk about it later. Can you do me a favor first?" he asked, thinking back to the reporters that he had seen downstairs.

Cassie nodded.

He then made a quick phone call. "Simon, prepare a dress for me. Inform the stylist and dresser to come to my room in half an hour."

"What's the size, sir?"

He glanced at Cassie. "L would be fine."

Cassie gaped at him in horror. "How did you know?"

He raised his eyebrows shamelessly. "I've already seen everything I could've seen. How would I not know?"

"You!" Her cheeks flushed.

Seeing her rimmed eyes and messy hair, he frowned.

What nonsense would the media have written if they had seen her like this?

Feeling a little embarrassed under his glowering face, she bowed her head. "Is there something on my face?"

"Don't say anything later, okay? Just follow me."

Still worried that she might say something, he pointed at her with a warning. "Five million dollars."

Cassie nodded rapidly.

Simon Ji was extremely reliable, and he had already fixed everything up.

The beige dress that he bought fitted Cassie well. In fact, it highlighted her curvy figure.

Seeing her in a light dress, Dylan almost felt as if he had fallen into a trance. She glanced up at him. "Anything wrong?"

"Nothing," he said coldly.

The stylist and the dresser had already gone upstairs. Cassie sat in the middle of the room and allowed them to fix her up.

Half an hour later, the stylist approached him. "Mr. Dylan, it's done."
