Chapter 1 Prologue

Mille Pov:

" This is my last day, I vividly know today will be my last day on earth, "I mustered the energy to push out the baby.

"A little more, Mrs."

I gathered more power and pushed harder; the nurse had left my child and me on the bed by ourselves. What she was checking on the fetus monitor still left me skeptical of what nurse she could be.

I was suffering from labor pains alone here, and the person who was supposed to help me was preoccupied with checking the equipment.

"Hey, come on over!,"

I screamed again and called, squeezing more air into my lungs.

I could smell wolves from approximately three kilometers away.

" We need to hurry up, they will be here soon for me and my baby," I said in a frightened voice.

"Who?" The nurse asked. She focused her eyes on the head of the baby that popped out of me.

"Just hurry up," I said, concealing things to myself. I knew I was in a deep mess. They must be very close to this hospital now. I knew because my wolf sensed it.

Finally, it was out of me. I watched as the nurse cut off the umbilical cord that connected us.

"Why is the umbilical cord wrapped over her neck," I asked the nurse. Who was busy washing my baby's blood stains

My wolf gives me more strength. I stepped down from the hard cot and collected my baby from the nurse.

I looked into her blue eyes, and her tiny little face. I kissed her and sucked her mouth to my breast. I could hear her cry seize as she sipped fluid out of my breast.

The gate shook, I knew they were here at the moment. I quickly took my precious baby girl and gave it to the nurse.

"Her name is Aina," I whispered to the nurse as tears of pain flowed from my eyes.

"Take care of her for me."

I use my hand to wipe out the tears flowing from my eyes. The pain I had was not leaving my beautiful girl behind, but in the hand of a nurse, I rarely know.

All I knew was there was just a sense of trust I had for the nurse from the moment I stepped into this hospital and saw her.

"You can't just leave her like that."

I quickly walked out of the labor room. I didn't want to hear another sound from my baby whom I left in the hands of the nurse. It hurt my soul.

I quickly transformed into my wolf immediately after I left the room. I could hear a loud growl coming from down the skyscraper. I knew they were here for me.

I leaped out of a fifth-floor skyscraper window and landed on a small house below the structure.

At least if they want to disgrace me, it would not be in the same hospital or environment where I had just put my child to birth. I knew whatever was in her would react if my blood was eventually split.

I ran through the forest like a warrior queen, fully ready for battle. I could hear the sound of their paws beating the rustling leaves on the floor from behind.

There was more than one, I knew from the so-called crime they said I committed, the fate of my life wouldn't be left in the hands of just one alpha.

My heart was panting in terror as my wolf dashed through the dense mangrove, leaping from its limbs. I arrived at a large body of water. They wouldn't be going back for me at this point.

I must summon the courage to face the beasts that had been chasing me for almost a day now.

I look into their hungry eyes with a different variance of color on their fur. I was surrounded and there was no place to run to.

"She'll return to haunt your kids, " I whispered and gave myself to them.

Chapter 2 Elvoving

16 years latter

Aina pov:

" Your oatmeal is gonna get cool if you don't go and consume it quickly." Aunt Ella said. I wiped off the sleep crust from my face and walked toward the dining table.

Sometimes I feel like beating up aunt Ella, I think she is just so overprotective of me, telling me to do this and do that.

"Thank you, aunt."

I knew I hadn't eaten all the oats that were left for me. I quickly stumbled into the kitchen to throw the remaining oats into the waste bin.

I don't know if I was not hungry. Something in me was just longing for fresh blood. I have never tried that before and I have never had such feelings before.

My name is Aina. People in this wonderful town of Altona always ask me about the meaning of my name. They always say it is such a beautiful name to pronounce.

Anytime I am asked, I normally lie to them saying it means joy giver. I live in a town predominantly occupied by Germanic people, as a Germanic girl with a non-Germanic name, and this thus leads to questioning my identity sometimes.

I don't know much about my origin, or my relatives. I was only told by aunt Ella that my mum left me at the hospital immediately after I was born. Ever since then, aunt Ella's house has been mine.

" I need you to go to the shopping mall to get some stuff for us." My aunt said, interrupting my thoughts.

Wow, I was so excited in my mind. It will be another opportunity to explore our town of Altona. I could not wait to pass through the river Elbe again. Although that is not part of my destination. I just love seeing the gentle flow of the long river. It brings peace to whatever voice that echoes through my mind for weeks now.

"Don't be late." I could hear the voice of my aunt as I took up a little shopping basket and walked out of the house.

" I won't," I said. I am just so happy I will be leaving this environment again.

I bought everything that was written on the list I was given. I was also left with spare money. So I bought some candy for myself.

I walked along the snowy road, nothing was going to stop me from visiting river elbe today. I know aunt Ella must have gone for Saturday's shift by the time I arrive home.

" Hey, can't you see?" I heard a voice echo through the snowy atmosphere. I don't know why he was yelling at me. I knew I obeyed the lead of the traffic light.

" You are a fool and a stupid beautiful girl," the driver continued his insulting remarks at me. I simply ignored him and kept walking. I turned my back and saw the driver keep following me in my direction and throwing insulting remarks at me.

Whatever in me wanted to just tear him apart, but I simply ignored it.

"Stop it, clown." A voice interrupted the driver. I looked to see the person uttering the voice in our little one-sided quarrel.

"Leave the girls alone." The voice once more said as he approached us. It was male, with green eyes, a huge chest, and a muscular body. I guess this one must be a fighter.

His hair was blond, he left his entourage of friends at the other end of the road to intervene in our little quarrel. I watched how this guy exchanged words with the driver.

Lastly, he then said, " if you don't stop following this girl now, my friends and I are going to beat you."

After hearing the vicious threat, I watched as the driver reversed his car and left me with my savior.

" Hello, I am Otto Philips."

He smiled at one side of his face and held out his hand to me as I stared.

Then he retracted his hand. I've been told by Aunt Ella not to converse with strangers. Sure, I am aware that this person just saved my life. I could do nothing except obey my aunt's directions. I can count the number of times I disregarded my aunt's advice.

I simply ignored his greeting and kept walking forward with the medium basket I hung on my shoulder.

" We just saved you from a drunk driver, and this is how you pay us," Otto said. Seeing how his friends laughed at him for being ridiculed by me.

I continued to go further away from them until I could no longer see them when I turned around. Now I feel peace of mind in the environment I found myself in. I took off my shoes and walked to the bank of the river Elbe. I wanted to try something new today.

The River Elbe seems warm today, despite the atmosphere being cool. I swam to the far side of the river and found myself at the back of the Klovensteen forest.

I kept getting signals from something inside of me to visit this woodland. I agree and stroll into the forest and swim in the river.

The forest was quiet and only the sound of the breeze blowing through the tall trees was heard. I heard another sound. I think it was from a human who was held captive. I surveyed the environment with my eyes to see if I could see anything, but there was nothing.

I think there is something in me I haven't discovered. I could hear voices talking but there was no one around. I think the ability was coming from whatever was in me. I don't know what comes over me, I just keep walking deep into the forest.

I approached a tiny brown cottage in the middle of the forest. A large tree stood by the side of the cottage, without fear of whatever was in me. I told myself I would investigate what was in the cottage, who could have left human civilization to live alone in the middle of the forest.

I opened the old wooden door. Cobwebs were all over the ceiling. It seems nobody has been living here for sometime

" Help us pls." A voice sounded from the end of a room in the cottage. I walked further to check what was there.

There in the room, I saw two young girls who were chained.

" Who did this to you?" I asked. I got no reply. The only reply I got was from one of the girls, who pointed to the parlor of the house.

" What is it, what is there?" I asked. I still got no reply. One of the girls twisted her finger. I understand what she meant. She was telling me the key to their chain was in the parlor.

As I walked to the parlor to get the key. Whatever was in me told me to leave that place, I simply brushed off the thought and proceeded to the Parlor. I took the keys and walked back to the room.

I unchained the girls. I was surprised that no one ran or tried to escape. We then walked back to the setting room.

. My eyes are drawn to the sculpture of a guy holding two young children that are mounted on the wall. Then I discovered that their father was the one who chained them.

" Why would a father chain these beautiful girls?" I asked myself.

" We should go with her." One of the girls spoke for the first time. I extended my hand to them but one of the girls refused to come with me. I hate convincing kids. By the way, I am not going to take them to my house.

I planned to take them to the police station, but no one was coming with us. I couldn't afford to leave that girl alone IN that house. I went down on my knees pleading with her to come with me.

I then heard a laugh coming from the girls I had been pleading with for about ten minutes. The second girl to smile. I sensed something was wrong. Whatever was in me began to hear the ground tumble, something was approaching from afar, and to my surprise, the girls were not afraid. My heartbeat.

The moon hung high in the sky, casting an ethereal grow over the forest. The silence was interrupted by low growls. I watched as the old wooden door was torn into pieces by a very big black wolf. Its eyes were orange and long teeth protruded out of his mouth.

My heart beat fast, and to my surprise, the two girls were not afraid. They simply stared at this huge wolf, whatever was in me was afraid too. I retracted my step backwards. The wolf howled at me and was ready to devour my flesh. I simply watch as it moves toward me.

It took its snout and began to move close to me, smelling from my head to the sole of my feet. It still shocked me that the kids never ran.

I prepared myself for the worst. There was no escape route and even though I wanted to escape, my feet would not be fast enough. I mean, for god's sake, how could I outrun such a huge beast?

I simply prepare myself for the worst. I closed my eyes. Preparing my body and soul for the worse. As it opens its wide mouth to chop off my head. I feel a strange sensation in my body and my bones rattle.

My clothes then began tearing, and the hungry werewolves then retreated and joined the kids to watch what was happening.

I don't know what happened to me. I looked at my leg, and behold, I saw it had transformed into a white paw. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the transformation begin.

First, my fingers began to stretch and lengthen, my nails sharpening into claws. Then my skin began to itch as thick fur grew all over my body. I let out a whimper as my bones started to shift and reshape, my muscles bulging and growing stronger.

My clothes tore and fell to the ground as I grew taller, my snout elongating and my ears growing pointed. I let out a howl as I felt the last of my human form slipping away, replaced by the wild and powerful body of a wolf.

I knew I was afraid, but whatever I had transformed into, I was not afraid. I leap over the wolf and ran out of the cottage through the broken door. My paw slammed the ground at high speed, running between the evergreen trees.

I looked back and saw that I was being chased by the werewolf. The wolf in me forced my paw to stop running and confront this beast that wanted to kill me.

We both ran at high speed toward each other, jumping high in the air and raising our sharp claws while still in the air. We landed back on the floor, only for him to land first. I landed back on his face, wounding it with my sharp paw.

I overpowered this beast. I could see its bow snout as a sign of retreat. For me there was no mercy. He attacked me first. Whatever was in me wanted to teach him a lesson. I use my sharp canine and bite its neck.

Blood bled out like water from a fountain. I backed off. I didn't want the blood to stain my dress. Slowly, the werewolf transforms back into a human.

What have I done is,, my heartbeat. I had just murdered a human. I never knew it was a real wolf or werewolf. I thought it was an animal.

As if that was not enough, I walked back to the body and drank the blood. The human blood test is nice.

"You witch! You killed him." I looked back , it was the girls I met in the cottage. It seems that I have just murdered their father.

" You killed him." One of the girls sobs,

I could sense anger and hatred in their hearts. Once more, I quickly transformed into a wolf and ran toward them, stamping the two girls down to the ground. I open my mouth and move it closer to their tiny head. A scream of pain then fellow.

Chapter 3 New recruits

Otto pov:

Today will be my marching parade. I am so glad I am now a member of the police of Germany (Altona police division in Hamburg). I can't wait to start chasing bad eggs out of Altona.

"Ain't you going to attend the marching parade?" My mum asked. I stay idle in bed, flipping a long tennis ball up to the ceiling of my room.

One thing I love about my mum is that she always reminds me of important tasks ahead of me. That is one of the parental qualities my dad lacks.

I haven't seen that man this morning. My dad knew he was supposed to be present at my marching parade. He was nowhere to be found.

As I brushed my teeth, I recalled the memory of the beautiful damsel I saw in the streets of Altona. I can vividly remember her face, her pointed nose, and her blue eyes. I know she must be a girl of a high standard. Perhaps if I approached her in my uniform she would consider me.

" Are you ready?" My mum asked. She never disappointed, she was fully dressed.

" We should be there, so we can get a good view of things," She said. In the Altona police division, recruits were not given a uniform. Uniforms will be given during the match parade. I put on a long sleeve shirt and a pair of blue Jean trousers.

My mum left my dad at home. My dad is always fond of delaying important events. Today we didn't even wait to tell him we had gone. We just left him.

The police barracks were filled with parents and their wards who were ready for induction into the German police. Mum and I came a little bit late. So we sat at the back.

Side by side, my mum sat close to me. I felt shy because I was the only one that sat with my parents in our rows of seats . My mum wouldn't leave me.

I could see medical personnel were also present. I and my fellow recruits were then summoned by the inspector general of the police. I quickly followed my fellow policemen to the restroom where we changed our uniforms.

I joined my fellow recruits and formed a line of 7 rows. We then march gallantly.

"Help him ." Someone yelled from the crowd.

One of us has fainted. I quickly bent down to give the young lad a cpr

" let me help you." A melodic voice sounded in my ear. I looked up to see who was talking. I knew I knew this face.

" Have we met?" I asked the young lady who was now attending to the victim. I knew I recognized this face. It was the girl I saved from the drunk driver.

"So you are a nurse," I asked. I got no reply at all, she was just busy trying to revive the patient.

"Bring him here, Aina." A voice called. Now I know her name. I watched her and some other police officers took the young lad to a trampoline.

I followed them, watching as they administered medicine to the young lad. I also watched Anna's face, it glowed like a moon in the twilight. Occasionally, we had some eye contact and I smiled at her, but she didn't smile back.

I left the trampoline to join the recruits. The inspector General continued with the ceremony despite the unfortunate incident.

After our names are officially registered as police officers in Germany.

I saw a smile all over my dearest mum's face, as I was dressed in a military outfit by the police inspector General. The thought of standing side by side with Aina is continuously in my mind.

The ceremony was fast coming to a close, and once again the inspector General came to the podium to give his closing speech. As he spoke, so eloquent and fast.

" We were given a report from a local hunter in Klovensteen forest, of trioxide. "

Everyone listened attentively as he gave his speech, from the explanation the IG said. I could see some strange occurrences in the forest of Klovensteen, and I knew neither the hunter nor the IG knew what truly happened.

A round of applause was awarded to the IG as he left the podium. I watched as everyone left for home. For me, I could leave. My life now belongs to the police barracks.

I watch how tears rush slowly from my mum's face.

" I love you." She said. And hugged me

" Mum, I will be fine," I said. Removing myself from the hug that was taken all the time in the world. We both walked to the gate of the police barracks. She wanted to come with me. But she was prevented by the guards.

" Madam, it's not visiting Time now."

My mum slowly turned back, with a very remorseful face. She walked out of the environment. I never knew my mum was so dearest to me.

As I entered the building, the sound of radios crackling and phones ringing filled my ears. Officers rushed past me, their uniforms crisp and their expressions serious. The air was thick with the scent of coffee and ink, and the walls were lined with maps and charts.

The main room was dominated by a large desk, behind which a burly sergeant sat, his eyes darting over the reports and paperwork in front of him. Behind him, a bulletin board displayed a web of interconnected photos and notes, evidence of an ongoing investigation.

In one corner of the room, a group of detectives huddled together, poring over a pile of files and discussing their findings in hushed tones. Nearby, a young officer sat at a computer, typing furiously as he scanned through records and databases.

As I made my way through the barracks, I couldn't help but feel a sense of respect and admiration for these dedicated men and women. They were the front line of justice, the guardians of the city, and their tireless work was a reminder of the important role that law enforcement played in keeping our society safe.

" Hello, are you Otto Philips? "

" Yes, I am." I extended my hand as we shook. I think this one is also part of the new police officer recruited. I can remember his face was present during the induction ceremony.

" I saw your name on the list, we are in the same block."

He introduced himself as Konrad Andre, and we both walked to block D. The building was painted blue. I was placed on the same floor ( 4 floors)as Konrad. My room number was 44, while he was 43.

I couldn't sleep, the noise all over the police barracks. I knew it was coming from the newly recruited men of the police. The left-hand side of my room was turned into a mini-party.

Room number 45 was so noisy. I got fed up and walked to the room.

"Please can you lower the volume," I said.

I don't even remember introducing myself. What I got in return was the door slamming in my face. And the volume of the sound system increased more.

This is just one day of life in the barracks for me, and it is becoming hellish.

I wanted to report my complaint to a senior police officer, but I remember I didn't know the name of the perpetrator. So I hold on.

I looked at the ceiling of my room. I boiled in anger because I could not sleep and it was not my fault. My noisy neighbor's room was not going to turn off or reduce the sound from his speakers any moment soon.

Finally, I closed my eyes, reminiscing on how the ceremony that happened yesterday went. How I was ignored by the tall beautiful damsel. I was lost in thought and slept off.
