Age Is Just A Number

It's morning and the sound of the alarm keeps ringing. She hits the alarm to stop it from ringing. She opens her eyes but finds it difficult to get up. Her phone rings and she lazily picks it up to answer.

From the other side of the phone a lady shouts: Anna please don't tell me you are still sleeping? Did you forget your interview today?

Brianna: oh shit, I forgot I can't believe this girlfriend thanks for reminding me I have to go.

She gets up quickly and enters the bathroom for her morning rituals. She quickly gets ready and leaves without having breakfast.

Brianna kept staring at the time until she got to her destination. She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the huge and tall building in front of her. She entered the building and kept admiring the place. She finally came to her senses when she saw a group of people running around. She walks to the reception area

Brianna: hello

The receptionist: hi ma'am please how may I help you?

Brianna: I am here for the interview.

The receptionist: oh okay please go to the eighth floor that is where the interview is happening.

Brianna thanks her and walks towards the elevator. After getting to the eighth floor, she meets another reception area and she is shown where the interview is happening

She knocks on the door and a male voice echoes on the other side telling her to come in. She enters and greets him.

Andrew: please sit down (Brianna sits and gives him her file). Andrew reads through the files for a while. He raises his head and smiles at her. Brianna felt warmth in her heart when he smiled at her.

Andrew: your credentials are good but I don't think you will be able to do the job.

Brianna: sir please I can do it. I studied secretarial.

Andrew chuckles and says: This job is not about your studies and capabilities Miss. It also involves your manners and attitude. You need to go to the extra mile for this work. I am ready to work hard.

Andrew smiles and adds: you were late for the interview. Are you sure you can do it?

Brianna: I will never be late again I promise.

Andrew: alright Miss Bennett you can start tomorrow.

Brianna: thank you so much sir.

They shake hands and Brianna leaves the company excitedly.

Brianna goes home excitedly. She runs and hugs her mother.

She shouts: Mum I got the job

Mrs Bennett: this is such a good news.

They hug happily.

Mrs Bennett breaks the hug and says: Anna you never told me you were getting a job. I thought you wanted to further further your education.

Brianna cups her mum's face and says: mum you know we can't afford it now so I thought it would be better for me to get a job to help you run the house.

Mrs Bennett: my dear I told you not to bother about it. I told you that I will find a way.

Brianna: Mum please don't worry I will save for my education I promise.

Mrs Bennett: alright dear.

After having lunch with her mum, Brianna went to her room. She called her best friend Antonella. After a while the call connected.

Antonella: hello Anna, how are you?

Brianna shouts excitedly: Ella I got the job

Antonella screams happily and says: this is nice let's meet later and celebrate.

Brianna: of course, we will meet at our favourite club.

Antonella: alright girlfriend.

In the evening, the ladies met at the agreed club. They sit at their favourite place and ordered.

Antonella: hey girlfriend, you never told me where you applied for the job.

Brianna: I applied for the job in numerous companies. None of them picked me. Fortunately Empire Groups picked me

Antonella: oh my goodness Empire Group is the biggest group of companies in the country. It has hotels, restaurants, constructions sites and it even has real estate companies. The owner is the richest man in the country.

Brianna: wow, really?

Antonella: he has charity foundations for kids, widows and even the less privileged. Sometimes if you read about him, it's like he spends his entire wealth on people. I also heard that he has been considered as the most handsome and sexiest man in the country.

Brianna: well I hope to meet him one day

Antonella: I hope to meet him too I have a huge crush on him.

The girls changed the topic and chatted about random things. Brianna went home late.

In the morning, Mrs Bennett enters her daughter's room to find her still sleeping.

Mrs Bennett: Anna get up or else you will be late for work. Anna lazily opens her eyes.

She checks the time and shouts: oh my gosh I am going to be late for work. She rushes to the bathroom.

Almost an hour later, she was ready for work. She rushes to work without having breakfast.

Andrew POV

Andrew goes to the dinning room and sees his father having breakfast.

Andrew: good morning Dad, how was your night?

Michael: my night was good. How are you son?

Andrew: I'm good. Dad I have employed someone to be your secretary. She will be starting today.

Michael: son are you sure she is good and will she be able to handle my schedules?

Andrew: yes Dad

Michael nods and gets up.

He says: if you say so. I will see you at the office.

Andrew: alright Dad. I am right behind you I think she will be early since it's her first day.

Michael leaves the house and soon Andrew followed.

Brianna arrived at the company at 9 o'clock am. She greets receptionist said she looks at Brianna strangely.

Brianna: excuse me why are you looking at like that? Is there something wrong with my face?

The receptionist: you are the knew secretary right?

Brianna nods.

The receptionist: oh my goodness, good luck because you will need to. Hurry up please take your badge and go to eighth floor.

Brianna takes the badge and rushes to the elevator. She soon arrives at the eighth floor.

The receptionist there directs her to Andrew's office. Brianna knocks and Andrew asks her to enter.

Brianna: good morning sir. Please I'm sorry for arriving late.

Andrew says calmly: yesterday you promised not be late. Brianna stands quietly staring at the ground.

Andrew continues: are you sure you can do this job?

Brianna: I promise sir I will be able to work.

Andrew stares at her for a while and says: come with me I will let your direct boss decide

Brianna stares at him confusedly.

Andrew: why are you staring at me like that?

Brianna: I thought you are my boss?

Andrew smiles and says: no Miss you will be working with my father.

Brianna: ooooh. She gets a little tensed

Andrew: are you okay?

Brianna: yes sir

Andrew: alright then come with me.

They both enter the elevator to go up.

BRIANNA P. O. V

In the elevator, I kept staring at the man beside me. I was wondering who my boss will be. He turned and saw me looking at him. He asked whether I had something to say. I decided to ask him the questions in my mind.

" Please sir what is your name and who is my boss" I asked nervously

" My name is Andrew Craine. I am the managing director of Empire Group. As I said before, you will be working for my father" He answered with a smile.

" So I will be working for your father as his secretary" I asked again

" You will be his personal assistant and secretary. You will be going with him everywhere he goes. His meetings, his trips and sometimes even vacations. Technically, you will be coming to work with him and closing with him. Now tell me Miss Bennett will you be able to do that" he answers and asks.

" I will try my best sir" I answered.

" What about my salary" I asked

He chuckles and looks at me for a while

" My father hasn't approved of you yet and you are asking about your salary" he asked

" Sir please I wanted to know" I replied

" Don't worry once my father approves, the HR will discuss it with you." He replied and I nodded.

The elevator stopped on the fifteenth floor. We walked out of it. I followed him as he walked straight ahead. I realised that there were only male workers on this floor. They were staring at me as if I had something attached to my body. Mr Craine kept walking without caring about the eyes on him. He stopped in front of a glass door. He entered a code and the door opened. We entered a very huge place. Just by looking at the arrangement, one could tell that everything here is expensive. We were greeted by a well built man.

" Daniel is my father in" Mr Craine asked

" Yes Sir but he is on the phone" The Man replies

Mr Craine told me to sit down and I sat on one of the couches. He entered another room.

ANDREW P. O. V

I entered my father's office. He was talking on the phone. I guessed from his tone of voice and gesture that he was talking to the president of the country. I sat down quietly and waited for him to finish. Fifteen minutes later, he ended the call.

" Hello Dad" I greeted

"Hello son I'm sorry for keeping you waiting" He said.

"No problem Dad, I am here with your new secretary" I said.

" She is late on her first day. Son are you sure she will be able to work for me" he asked with concern.

" Dad please let's give her a chance" I pleaded

" You seem smitten by her already. Alright I will give her one month" he said calmly.

BRIANNA P. O. V

Mr Craine came out and called me. I followed him nervously. I saw a writing on a door

" THE PRESIDENT/ CEO'S OFFICE" I read. I was finally going to meet the person behind EMPIRE GROUP. This means I will be working for the owner and this also means Mr Craine is the owner of Empire Group. I got nervous as my mind kept running wild. I entered an office with Mr Craine. The office was enormously huge. The couches, chairs, desks tables and everything looked very expensive. We moved forward a bit and I saw a tall man standing by the glass window. You could guess how powerful he is just by his standing posture.

"Dad please meet Miss Brianna Bennett the new secretary" Mr Craine said politely

" Miss Bennett please this is the president and CEO of Empire Group Mr Michael Anthony Craine.

The man slowly and gently turned his head to look at us. For the first time, I had this feeling in my heart and stomach that I couldn't describe. This man is someone you can describe as the perfect creation of God. He had the most perfect chiseled face I have ever seen. His eyes were so beautiful. He had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. He is a beautiful man.

" You are making my father uncomfortable with your stare please greet with respect" Mr Craine's whispering and words brought me back to my senses.

" Sorry" I whispered

"Hello sir please nice to meet you" I greeted and he responded with a nod

He turned to Mr Craine and asked him to orient me and show me my office.

Before leaving, I stared at Mr Michael Anthony Craine one last time.

MICHAEL P. O. V

I turned my head after my son mentioned my new Secretary's name. I couldn't believe my eyes. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I couldn't take my eyes off her and I realised she couldn't either. I kept staring at her till she said hello to me. I told my son to show her around and her office. I kept staring at her until she left.
