Adorable Twins: Daddy, Stay Away!

Author: : Marlo Cech
Genre: Modern
Melissa could tolerate being deceived and humiliated, but being framed was a different story. Three years of marriage was less important in her husband's eyes than a teardrop from his other woman, Arielle. Finally, on a rainy day, she was ruthlessly abandoned. Five years later, Melissa showed up with her adorable twins. She became world-famous in the medical field. That was when her ex-husband, Everett, came crawling back, asking her to help cure Arielle... "Hey, old man, if you want to talk to my Mommy, you have to pass my test first." Melissa's young son, Merrick, raised his chin proudly. 'Old man?' Everett checked himself carefully. Did he look that old? "Daddy, you really are very old..." Lindsey, Merrick's twin sister, said with a pout.

Chapter 1 Facade

The bedroom was dimly lit, emanating a depressing aura. Melissa Sherman fell on the floor, clutching her stomach.

The pregnancy caused her discomfort. The stomach cramps were unbearable. Her face was pale as paper. She was drenched in a cold sweat.

Just then, the bedroom door flew open, and a man came into her sight.

Melissa reached out her hand, asking for help. "Honey, help me..."

However, a shiver ran down her spine when she met the man's cold, distant gaze.

"Melissa, is this what you want?" The man's voice dripped with disgust. "You played tricks and made me sleep with you. Do you think that will make me fall in love with you?"

Melissa and Everett Mayfield were engaged since childhood. Eventually, the two got married under their parents' arrangement. However, Everett didn't like her.

They were married for three years, but everyone knew her husband had no feelings for her, and she was just the nominal Mrs. Mayfield-nothing more than that. Therefore, everyone ridiculed her for three years.

Two months ago, the Mayfield Group held a banquet, and Melissa attended it as Everett's wife. Unexpectedly, she and Everett had sex that night.

Regardless of how much she explained, Everett thought it was her plot.

Melissa frantically shook her head. "No, it wasn't me. I was drunk that day. I don't know what happened... Please trust me..."

Melissa felt a piercing pain in her stomach. She stretched out her hand and held Everett's trousers in desperation. "My stomach hurts. Can you please take me to the hospital?"

"God, are you still acting?"

Everett's face turned grim when he heard the word "hospital". "Do you think you can get away with pushing Arielle downstairs and causing her miscarriage by pretending this way?"

His words were like a bolt from the blue. Melissa's eyes widened in horror.

She couldn't believe Arielle Sherman was pregnant. That meant the baby's father was...

Everett's jaw tightened. The dim light made him look regal and majestic.

He squatted down and grabbed Melissa's throat. "Melissa Sherman, you are the most disgusting woman I have ever known!" he hissed, stressing every word.

Melissa could barely breathe. She patted his hand and struggled to catch her breath. "Let... Let go of me..."

Tears streaked down her cheeks. "Honey, I didn't push her. She fell down herself. In fact, I'm also... I'm... I'm pregnant too... It is our baby..."

Everett was in a daze for a moment. Soon, he snapped out of his thoughts and glared at her.

No way! After that night, he had personally seen Melissa take contraceptives. It was impossible for her to get pregnant.

He assumed she was lying to him again.

"Even if you are really pregnant, do you think..." Everett sneered and shot her a contemptuous look. His voice dripped with sarcasm as he continued, "Do you think I'd want that bastard in your belly?"

Melissa was stunned. She looked up at him in disbelief. The blood in her body froze.

Before she could react, Everett threw her on the floor and ordered, "Throw this woman out! She is no longer a part of our family and can't be in Andeport anymore."

The bodyguards immediately grabbed Melissa and pulled her to her feet. It was raining cats and dogs, but the guards showed no mercy. They threw her out of the villa.

Melissa was wearing loose pajamas. The cold wind and rain intensified the pain in her stomach.

She braced herself from the howling winds and looked up at the gigantic villa before her.

The man she had loved with all her heart all these years had literally kicked her out of his life. She had ended up on the streets.

Chapter 2 Return

Five years later, on a highway in Andeport, Arielle sat in the back seat of the car, leaning on Everett's shoulder.

"Everett, are you sure the doctor you mentioned can really cure my illness?" she asked softly. "Is she capable of performing the operation on me?"

Arielle had a heart problem. Everett had put in a lot of effort over the years to cure her.

A few days ago, the Andeport General Hospital hired Dr. Melly Sherman, a famous doctor from abroad. Everyone knew the doctor was young and an expert in her field. She was an expert in performing surgeries. People regarded her as the Divine Surgeon in the medical field. She performed even the most complicated surgery at ease and boasted a hundred percent success rate.

Everett nodded at Arielle confidently.

However, she was a little unhappy. "That woman is so young," she whined. "I don't think she is experienced enough. How can she perform the surgery on me?"

The doctor's degree or experience didn't bother her. But her very name made Arielle's stomach churn.

The doctor's name was Melly Sherman. That reminded her of that bitch, Melissa Sherman. Arielle couldn't help but wonder if it was more than just a coincidence.

They got off the highway and drove to a remote road. The two spotted a villa from afar at the foot of the mountain.

"Wait here," Everett said gently. "I'll go and have a look at it first."

After Everett got out of the car, Arielle followed him and stood beside the car, waiting for him to return.

Just then, a Pomeranian hopped out of the grass. It looked at Arielle and enthusiastically wagged its tail.

Arielle screamed out of fear and kicked its belly. "Get out of my way, you damn dog..."

The puppy whimpered in fright and ran back to its two young masters.

"Harley..."

Suddenly, a boy emerged out of a bush. It had just rained, and his body was covered in mud. He ran forward and hurriedly held the injured dog in his arms.

The dog fell into Merrick Sherman's arms and began vomiting.

A moment later, a girl also came out of the bush. "Merrick, what do we do?" she asked anxiously. "Harley looks uncomfortable. Will he die?"

Arielle looked at the two children in front of her and felt a sense of familiarity, as if she had seen them somewhere before.

Before she could say anything, she heard a cold voice from behind. "What happened?"

Arielle immediately sprinted to Everett and threw herself into his arms. "Everett, a dog chased after me and came to bite me."

Merrick, holding the dog, grew furious when he heard that. "You are lying! Harley never bites. He was only wagging his tail at you. This is our home. We can play with our dog whenever and wherever we want. What right do you have to park your car here? Did you ask for permission?"

The little boy was about four years old. His face looked delicate like a doll.

His bright eyes flamed with rage. He pouted and stroked his dog. Although he sounded like a child, his every word was rational.

Everett's curiosity was piqued as he looked at the boy.

He strangely felt he had seen these two children before.

After a moment's thought, Everett returned to his senses, and turned to look at his assistant.

The assistant came forward, squatted down, and looked at the two children. "I'm sorry. It's all our fault. Please give the dog to me. I'll take it to a vet for treatment. Okay?"

However, Merrick was resistant. "No need. This is our home. Please leave!"

Chapter 3 The Kids

The assistant stood up and looked at Everett, his cheeks flaming with embarrassment. The little boy was stubborn.

Everett cleared his throat and asked, "Are you two Dr. Sherman's relatives?"

"Why are you looking for our mommy?" Lindsey Sherman asked, cocking her head.

Everett and his assistant looked at each other in embarrassment. They came to see Dr. Sherman but didn't expect to offend the members of her family before meeting her.

"My fiancee is ill. We need Dr. Sherman's help," replied Everett.

Merrick scowled at them. "You better leave now. My mommy won't treat her!"

"Merrick..." The little girl pouted unhappily. She shook her brother's arm and said, "Mommy always says it's a doctor's duty to heal the wounded and rescue the dying. We can't hold a grudge against someone regardless of how bad they are."

Everett's heart melted as he looked at her lovely face.

If only his and Arielle's child was alive, it would have been the same age as these two kids. His hatred for Melissa deepened every time he thought about it. He wished to kill her.

Lindsey looked at Everett kindly. "Mommy is not at home. She has gone out. You can wait for her inside."

The two kids hopped toward the villa with the dog. Everett slowly followed them.

Arielle, on the other hand, was fuming with rage but didn't dare to lose her temper in front of Everett.

When she followed them into the villa and was about to sit on a sofa, the boy stopped her. "Sorry, this is my mommy's spot. Only Mommy can sit here. Please sit somewhere else."

Controlling her anger, Arielle walked to the other end of the sofa. However, Merrick stopped her again. "This is where my sister and I sit."

Arielle frowned and looked at Everett, hoping he would come to her rescue. "Everett..."

She angrily stomped her foot. "Children nowadays are really ill-bred!"

"Yes, you are right." Merrick scoffed. "My sister and I are ill-bred, but you are so well-educated. Is that why you kicked our innocent dog without thinking twice? Besides..." He looked at her from head to toe and added, "You are not a child anymore. Can you speak like an adult? Even my sister doesn't act like a spoiled child like you. It's disgusting."

Arielle was embarrassed.

Unwilling to give up, she turned to Everett. However, he gestured for her to remain quiet.

"Go and find Dr. Wyatt Quinn," Everett ordered his assistant.

"Dr. Quinn is the most famous vet in Andeport," he explained to the two children. "He will examine your dog and diagnose his condition."

The boy snorted to refuse, but his sister grabbed his hand. "Merrick, Mommy only treats people. She can't help Harley. What if something happens to Harley? We mustn't refuse his help. Let the vet examine Harley's injury. After all, they owe this to us."

Merrick's face softened when he heard that. "Okay," he reluctantly agreed.

A smile stretched across Everett's lips. He liked the two children.

"What are your names?" he asked tentatively.

"My name is Lindsey Sherman, and this is my brother, Merrick Sherman..."

Before Lindsey could finish her words, Merrick covered her mouth and frowned. "Lindsey, Mommy has asked us not to tell our names to strangers. What if they abduct us?"
