Lisa POV:
I have amazing news for you." Lisa heard her boss Doctor Kingston say.
I raised my eyebrow waiting for him to continue what he wanted to say.
"You have been assigned to work for a very special man Lisa." My boss continued the smile not leaving his lips.
"Uhm who are we talking about please and why me?" I asked quietly looking at him.
"Well, you have won best nurse of the year, and This man needs a special nurse, we think you best nurse for that job." My boss said.
"But I was never told about this," I said confusedly.
"Come on Lisa, I'm telling you now right, would you like the offer or not?" My boss asked a frown on his lips.
"Of course, I would be honored to take on this assignment, Doctor Kingston," Lisa replied. "But I'm still confused. Who is this special patient, and why do they need a nurse like me?"
"I'm glad you're willing to accept the challenge," my boss said, a smile reappearing on his face. "I can't share too much information about the patient with you, but I can tell you that he is a man of great importance, and he needs the best care possible. You have been chosen for this task because of your dedication and skill as a nurse. I have complete faith in you,
"This patient is going to require a lot of time and attention, and I know you're up to the task," Doctor Kingston continued. "He is being kept under very strict security, and you will need to follow all the protocols in place. Are you ready to take on this challenge?"
Lisa took a deep breath. "Yes, I'm ready," she said, her voice strong and confident. "I won't let you down. Just tell me what I need to do."
Kingston nodded, his eyes full of approval. "I'll brief you on the details of the case, and then you can.
"The patient is a man by the name of Ace," Dr. Kingston said, leaning forward. "He was involved in a very serious accident, and he is now in a coma. We're not sure when or if he will ever wake up, but in the meantime, we need to do everything we can to give him the best possible chance at recovery. That's where you come in."
"I understand," Lisa said, her brow furrowed in concentration. "What kind of care does he need? Will I be working with a team of other nurses, or will I be on my own?"
"You will be the primary nurse responsible for his care," Dr. Kingston said, his tone serious. "But you will have a team of other nurses and doctors to support you. We have a whole floor dedicated to his care, and it is staffed 24/7. You will be responsible for administering his medications, monitoring his vital signs, and providing any other care he may need. You will also need to keep detailed records of his condition and progress."
"I can do that," Lisa said, feeling a little overwhelmed but determined to succeed. "Is there anything else I should know?"
"There is one more thing," Kingston said, leaning forward in his chair. "Ace is a very private person, and we need to respect his privacy. You will not be allowed to share any information about him with anyone outside of the hospital staff. This includes your family and friends. Can you agree to that?"
"Yes, I understand," Lisa said. "I will do everything in my power to protect Ace's privacy."
The doctor nodded, a satisfied look on his face. "Thank you, Lisa. I know this is a big responsibility, but it's really important to take care of Mr Ace." My boss mumbled looking around the room.
"When do I start?" I asked him.
"Well, you have to let me know about that, you could leave today." My boss said.
"But what about what here?" I asked confusedly, who will take my place?
"That's already taken care of, now go home and pack your stuff, I will send your payment for the month." My boss said with a smile.
"I'm grateful for you to accept this Lisa, it means a lot." My boss said giving me a little smile.
But all I did was nod and turn toward my office.
I shut the door to my office and took a deep breath. This was all happening so fast. I had just been given the opportunity of a lifetime, and I didn't know if I was ready for it. But I knew that I had to try. This was too important to back out now.
I started to pack up my desk, putting all of my personal belongings into a box. As I did so, my mind was racing. I kept thinking about the patient, and what I would need to do to care for him. I wondered what he was like, and what his condition was. But most of all, I wondered if I could handle the pressure. I had never worked with a patient in a coma before, and I knew it would be a challenge. But I was determined to do my best, for both the patient and my boss.
As I finished packing up my desk, I looked around the office one last time. It had been my home for the past few years, and I would miss it. But I knew that this new opportunity was worth it. I took a deep breath and walked out the door.
As I walked down the hallway, I felt a mix of emotions. Excitement, nervousness, and Determination. I was ready to take on this new challenge, and I knew that I could do it. I was headed toward a new beginning, and I was ready for anything that came my way.
The elevator ride down to the ground floor felt like an eternity. I kept thinking about what was ahead of me, and I tried to prepare myself for anything. I stepped out of the elevator and into the lobby, and I felt a rush of adrenaline. This was it, I was starting my new journey.
Lisa's POV:
The next morning, I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing loudly. Groaning, I rolled to the other side of my bed, my hand falling to the side as I tried picking up my phone from the desk. Another groan left my lips out of anger.
I was never a morning person, even though I am a nurse; it's always hard to wake up early. As I grumbled my way out of bed, I noticed the bright sun shining through my curtains, signaling that it was already late morning. I looked at the time on my phone and realized I had slept through my alarm and was now running late for my flight. Great start to the day.
Shaking my head, I walked toward my bathroom to get ready. Making sure to shave and clean my hair, I looked at myself in the mirror. "You can do this, Lisa; it's just one patient," I whispered to myself. "Yeah, you can do this," I said, giving myself a pat on the shoulders.
With that, I walked out of my bathroom, heading toward my closet. I looked around before grabbing my hoodie and grey joggers. "Thank God I packed up my things yesterday."
I quickly dressed, trying to maintain a sense of composure despite the chaotic start. As I grabbed my packed bag, I mentally ran through the checklist to ensure I didn't forget any essential items.
Rushing downstairs, I grabbed a granola bar for a makeshift breakfast and headed out the door. The urgency of catching my flight fueled my movements as I hailed a cab. During the ride, I couldn't help but replay the day's shaky beginning in my mind.
Arriving at the airport, I navigated through security and made a sprint for the boarding gate. Somehow, I managed to make it just in time, breathless but relieved. As I settled into my seat on the plane, I couldn't shake the feeling that the day had already thrown its fair share of challenges my way.
Little did I know, this unexpected start was just the beginning of an unpredictable journey ahead.
During the flight, I took a deep breath and tried to shake off the morning's turbulence. As the plane ascended, my thoughts turned to the upcoming nursing assignment. I flipped through my notes and mentally rehearsed the details of my new patient's case.
Upon landing, I navigated the bustling airport and hailed another cab to take me to the house. The city's vibrant energy clashed with my fatigue, but I couldn't afford to let it slow me down.
The drive to the house was long, and I was getting hungry. When we arrived, I paid for the ride before grabbing my things. My mouth dropped open at the sight of the house. No mansion, it's a freaking mansion. I looked back at the address my boss gave to me. I questioned myself if I was ready to go in.
"There's no turning back now," I said softly before grabbing my bags from the ground. The imposing mansion loomed before me, and I took a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever awaited inside. As I approached the grand entrance, the uncertainty of the upcoming encounter mixed with a sense of anticipation.
My finger rose to the gate, ready to knock, when I heard a voice say, "Welcome Miss Lisa, thank you for coming here today; you may now enter." The gate opened slowly on its own. "Wow," I whispered as I walked slowly into the mansion. It looked like a mansion described in a book. Everything screamed royalty.
"Now I see why my boss said this man is a private man," I whispered before stopping at the door entrance. The opulence of the surroundings left me momentarily awestruck. Taking a deep breath, I approached the door, uncertain of the challenges that awaited me within the luxurious confines of the mysterious mansion. Little did I know, this encounter would not only test my nursing abilities but also unravel a tale of intrigue and complexity.
"Welcome Lisa, it's so nice having you here." Lisa heard someone say.
Turning around she saw a woman her age walking down the stairs.
A smile on her lips.
"My name is Evelyn, Ace's sister." The lady said with a soft smile.
"Nice to meet you," I said, having no idea what to say again.
A giggle left Evelyn's lips as she noticed the confusion on Lisa's face.
"Come on, I'll show you your room, tomorrow you can see my brother," Evelyn said.
Nodding my head, I picked up my bags and followed her slowly.
My eyes still looking around the room.
Everything looked so beautiful and unique.
The house felt warm and welcoming as Lisa followed Evelyn to her room. The anticipation of meeting Ace added a hint of excitement to the air.
Evelyn led Lisa through a hallway adorned with family photos and cozy decorations.
As they reached the room, Evelyn opened the door, revealing a comfortable space with soft colors and a view of the garden. "I hope you find it cozy. Make yourself at home," Evelyn said with a friendly grin.
I thanked her, feeling a sense of gratitude for the warm reception. As I unpacked, I looked around the room carefully.
A smile on my lips.
Maybe this won't be bad after all, maybe things will go well.
I thought, having hope about what would happen next.
After unpacking, I walked toward my new bathroom.
Everything looked so nice and beautiful.
After looking around, I walked out to my bedroom.
A sigh left my lips before looking up at the clock.
It was still early and I was really hungry.
I looked at the door, thinking if it was alright for me to walk downstairs.
After some thinking, I walked toward my door and then turned the handle slowly.
When that was done, I looked at the large hallway, wondering where to move next.
Without thinking, I walked toward the left side of the Hall.
Keeping my ears down, I tried to pick up any sound.
The mansion was so quiet like I was the only one here.
After walking for what felt like hours.
I was a door, it was open slightly
Intrigued, I approached the slightly open door, curiosity getting the better of me. Slowly pushing it open, I found a man on a bed, the hospital machine beeping slowly.
His chest rose up and down slowly.
"I see you found Ace." I heard a voice say behind me, making me squeal.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to move around like this, I got hungry and was looking for you, I didn't mean to come here," I said quietly looking at the ground.
Evelyn laughed quietly before shaking her head.
"It's all good love, now let's go meet my brother, yes?" She said walking into the room.
I nodded my head before following her closely.
Lisa POV:
"So like I said, this is my brother Ace," Evelyn said looking at her brother.
"How long has he been in a coma?" I asked softly.
"2 weeks now." She said looking at him and then at me.
"Have any doctors given anything to him?" I asked again.
His body looked completely fine, so why the long coma?
"Yes, I don't know their names," Evelyn said with a chuckle, then passed the bottles to me.
"Uhm what kind of accident did he have?" I found myself asking, looking down at my patient.
"It was a car accident," Evelyn said, her voice growing quiet. "He was driving when another car ran a red light and hit his car." She paused, clearly struggling to speak about the details.
"The doctors say he may never wake up, but I just know he will. My brother is a fighter. I have to believe that." I could hear the emotion in her voice, and I felt a wave of compassion for her. I knew how hard it must be for her to see her brother like this.
I placed my hand on her shoulder, hoping to provide some comfort.
"He is lucky to have you as his sister," I said. "I know you're doing everything you can for him, and that's all anyone can ask for." She nodded, her eyes watering.
"Thank you," she whispered. I gave her a small smile. "Now, let's go over his daily routine, shall we?" She took a deep breath and nodded, a determined look back in her eyes. "Yes, let's do this."
"He requires assistance with all of his daily needs," I began.
"This includes bathing, dressing, and eating. I know it's a lot, but we're going to take it one step at a time. Are you up for this?"
I asked Evelyn, wanting to make sure she was comfortable with everything we would be doing. She took a deep breath and nodded again. "Yes, I can do this. For Ace." I smiled and nodded, feeling inspired by her dedication to her brother.
"Okay then, let's get started."
"I thought you were hungry Lisa?" Evelyn said softly.
Why was she talking so calmly?
"Yes, but that can wait a little," I said with a smile.
"Nonsense, come on, we got lots of time for this, let's go fill up your tummy," Evelyn said with a chuckle.
I nodded my head slowly before walking with her out of the room.
I made sure to come to the door a little.
We took a few turns before arriving at the kitchen.
"What would you like to eat?" Evelyn asked.
"Uhn anything is fine," I whispered not knowing what to ask for.
"The maids are going to make a lot of meals, just pick one pls," Evelyn said softly.
"Uhm I'll like noodles please," I whispered looking away from her eyes.
Her eyes were so green like she was looking into my soul.
She called a maid and told her what to make, then walked outside.
I followed her closely still not knowing what to do.
"You know, you are the second nurse arriving here," Evelyn said.
"Why did she leave so quickly?" I asked confusedly.
"Oh, she was scared of my brother, saying he was too big and he looked like someone who could kill her," Evelyn said softly with a giggle.
I shook my head at what I heard before sitting down.
"When Ace wakes up, I won't be around anymore." She said making me look up.
"Why, isn't this your house also?" I asked.
"Nop, it's his, Ace hates me and some of our family." She said softly.
"So I'll be left with him?, Would he accept that?" I found myself asking.
"Hehe, you see, his a complicated Man, and his very rude," Evelyn said mumbling the last part.
"So how will I take care of him?" I asked confusedly.
"You will work things out, love," she said with a smile.
"Ah, the food is here." She said with a smile.
I looked at her for a moment before looking at my food.
I didn't know what to do.
Why didn't Dr. Kingston inform me about this?
I have never lived with a man before and this one is freaking rude to people.
Shaking my head, I picked up my spoon and ate slowly.
His in a coma, and we won't be sure when he will wake up, so I have time to decide.
Now I see why the other maid Left.
I thought.
"Are you going to leave also?" I heard Evelyn ask.
For a moment, I thought she was reading my mind or I might have said it without knowing.
"I don't see why I should," I said with a smile.
"Oh thank you so much, this means a lot." Evenly said.
Nodding my head, I looked back at my food
When I was done, I picked up my plates but Evelyn said I shouldn't worry that the maids would clean it up.
"I'd like to go to bed, is that ok?" I asked quietly.
She looked at me for a second before nodding her head, that smile never leaving her lips.
She was way too nice, something was going off here.
As I walked back upstairs.
I made sure I was the only one there.
I made a turn back to Ace's room.
I quickly looked down at his body again.
It made no sense, she said Ace was in a car accident, but I see no bruises on his skin.
He looked perfectly fine.
But it looked like he was giving some injection for him to be in a coma for this long.
Moving around his room.
I picked up the first injection bottle before shaking my head.
They were all too heavy for someone who got in a car accident.
Quickly, I walked toward my room, to get my medicine bag, thank God I always take it around.
I looked down at the stairs when I noticed the ghost was clear.
I entered his room and locked the door quietly.
A sigh left my lips when I had done everything.
Walking toward Ace, I quickly removed the injection in his skin.
Then I poured the remaining ones into a bottle, I needed to check what this injection meant.
They didn't give him anyone other than this.
Then I quickly injected him with my injection.
Not to make anyone noticed.
I emptied the old bottle and cleaned the inside, then turned all my injections in.
So anyone giving him his medicine will think it's the old one.
A smile on my lips when I had done everything.
Looking down at Ace One last time, I couldn't help but wonder why someone was doing this to him.
But again this is Earth, you won't know who to trust.
When everything was done.
I walked out of the room, not forgetting to give him a look one last time.
