Chapter 1 The Mission Briefing

Caterina yawned and rubbed her eyes. As she stood up from the bed, she petted her cat, Cleo. Her hair looked rough and strangled, she was not lady-like.

Her clothes were all over the floor, her shoes, and her table was full of dirt.

The cluttered apartment was a testament to Caterina's chaotic lifestyle. Dirty laundry spilled out of the hamper, and yesterday's coffee cups littered the coffee table. She scratch her hair as she walked and stepped on Cleo poop.

"Oh no Cleo, not again," she said with a grunt.

Cleo blinked at her innocently and walked back to the bedroom.

Caterina sighed looking at her messy apartment, she groaned and took out the bread in her freezer.

She poured herself a coffee and sat down while she ate with a sigh, she has to resume back to work today after a week break.

She checked the time and it was past 9 am, "oh no!!" She yelled before running to the bathroom and taking a quick shower.

She put on a blowns, and a jean with a boot, she took her car key and her bag after pouring Cleo her food.

"Be good Cleo, don't mess up the house," she kissed her and ran out.

She got into her car and drove to the office immediately, Sophia and her other colleagues were already waiting for her and applauded her as she entered.

She smiled and hugged Sophia, "There is actually no need for this."

"Yeah, sure there is, you did an incredible job with that mission, there is no one that would have gotten that job done perfectly like you did."

"No come on, anyone could do that," Caterina said with a rolled eyes as she took a donut that was kept on her table. "By the way, who put this here?" She asked as she took a bite.

"I don't know, maybe your secret admirer," Sophia said as she looked at Oscar who was walking up to them.

Oscar smiled and spread his hand for a hug. "Good to have you back."

Caterina smiled and hugged him. "Yeah even though you didn't text me."

"Oh sorry about that, did you enjoy your vacation?" He asked.

Sophia patted Caterina back. "I will leave you two to it."

"Yeah sure," Caterina replied and then looked back at Oscar. "Why didn't you check up on me, busy?"

"No- uh SAC James ask to see you in his office," he ignored the question again.

"Ok we will continue this later," she responded before walking to SAC James office, she knocked on the door.

"Hey sir," she opened the door and sat down, "you ask for me?"

SAC James sat across from Caterina, his expression serious. "You've done excellent work on the Rodriguez case, Agent Caterina, how was your vacation?"

"Great sir," she responded with a funny expression

SAC James takes out a file. "Check this out. Your skills are exactly what we need for this new mission."

Caterina leaned forward, her eyes locked on the file James handed her. "What's the situation?"

James' voice was low and even. "We have reason to believe that Daniele De Rizzo, a notorious mafia lord, is expanding his operations into our territory. We need someone on the inside to gather intel and bring him down."

Caterina's eyes widened as she scanned the file. "This is a high risk operation. What's the plan? And how sure are you that he is a Mafia Lord and not a businessman who does dirty work?"

SAC James' expression turned more serious. "We have our reasons to believe that you will be going undercover, posing as a new recruit to the De Rizzo organization. We will provide backup and support, but you will be on your own once you're in."

Caterina hand paused, and sigh. "I also have a favor to ask of you."

"What's that," he hold up his hand and look into her eyes, noticing all of her expression.

"Well, you have to let me investigate my parents death after this mission," she requested in a calm tone as she laid her calm gaze upon him, knowing he have not other choice than to give in to her request, it isn't because there is no other capable Agent that can get it done, but they need someone that can get the job done perfectly without mistake, and she is the only one that can risk everything because she has nothing to lose.

"Ok deal, but get this done first."

Caterina nodded, her mind racing with the possibilities. She knew the risks, but she was ready to take on the challenge.

With the mission file in hand, Caterina set out to infiltrate the De Rizzo organization. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to bring Daniele De Rizzo to justice.

As she walked out of his office, Caterina felt a sense of excitement. She was about to enter a world of danger and deception, and will also be able to work on her parents case, after all that's why she joined the MSI in the first place.

"What's that?" Oscar.

"A new mission, as always, I never get the chance to rest," she responded with an annoying grunt.

"As if you wanted to, I will help you to take care of Cleo today, you can go out and enjoy with the other colleagues," Oscar said.

"Aren't you coming with me?" She asked.

"I skip," he responded.

Caterina nodded and handed him her house key. "Here you go, take very good care of my baby, and also throw the trash away, I forgot to do that this morning."

"Ok–" he already knows how dirty Caterina can be, so he already expected her apartment to be dirty.

"Ok let's go and enjoy hooo!!!" Caterina screamed as she entered her car with Sophia.

.................

The dimly lit bar pulsed with the rhythm of loud music, the air thick with the smell of whiskey and sweat. Caterina and Sophia danced recklessly, their laughter lost in the crowd. The DJ spun a lively mix of tracks, and the dance floor was a sea of moving bodies.

Caterina's curly brown hair bounced as she danced, her bright brown eyes sparkling with amusement.

Sophia's sleek black hair was tied back in a ponytail, her eyes fixed intently on the crowd as she scanned for potential threats, she has always loved partying.

Suddenly they hear the scream of a lady from the bathroom. Sophia and Caterina snapped out of their drunken state and rushed to the bathroom, they saw a lady murdered there.

The bathroom was a stark contrast to the lively bar, the air heavy with the scent of disinfectant and fear. The victim lay on the floor, her eyes frozen in a permanent stare. Blood stained the white tiles, a stark red against the dull gray.

The victim's dress was torn, and her makeup was smeared. Caterina's trained eyes took in the scene, noting the position of the body and the lack of defensive wounds.

Caterina ran to the lady and checked her purse, she looked back at Sophia and shook her head.

Sophia starts making calls immediately and the ambulance and the police come to the crime scene immediately.

Caterina takes the first lady who saw the dead woman into the investigation room.

"Did you walk in on her dead or still alive?" She asked.

"I didn't check, I reacted immediately when I saw her, so I was unable to check if she was still alive," the lady responded.

"Did anything seem suspicious to you, or did you see anyone leaving the bathroom, maybe a strange person?"

The Lady thought for a while and shook her head. "No, but please I am innocent. I.... I know nothing about it. I found her dead. Plea– plea-se help me," she cried.

Caterina sighed and walked out of the interrogation room.

"Anything yet?" SAC James asked.

Caterina shook her head. "She seems innocent, but I will still try to find out more, but for now, nothing shows that she is the killer until further investigation."

She walked to Sophia's desk. "Did you get the CCTV footage from the bar?"

"Yeah, but the killer avoided the CCTV camera, I only saw a figure walking out and in, and I can't tell who the person was exactly," Sophia said as she played it for her.

"Keep doing your work, I will get the list of the people in the bar," she said , just as she walked a few steps she received a call from Oscar.

"Hey," she said.

"Is everything fine there, are you ok?" he asked.

"Yeah but we need your help here," she stated.

"Ok I will be there immediately," he responded before hanging up.

"Caterina I found something," Sophia said and suddenly her computer went blank.

Chapter 2 Hacked system.

"What?" Sophia wondered as she typed on the keyboard.

"What's the problem?" Caterina asked as she walked to her and also saw the blanked screen. "They hacked into our system," she said.

Sophia nodded. "I guess they really do, we have to get them back," she said before her expression turned serious and she started typing some code.

"I will leave you to do your thing, I will go and check on the crime scene, to look for anything to help our case," Caterina said, patting on her back.

"On it," she responded as she continued to type furiously.

Sophia, one of the specialists is a hacker, it is the part of the reasons she was on their team.

When Caterina got to the bar, Oscar was already waiting for her.

"So how is it going, do you need my help with anything?" She asked as she put on the gloves.

"I have done the questioning, there is actually a strange man that came to the bar, but no one seems to recognize his face, and the CCTV footage did not capture his face either, so it is as well like he was not present at all or he left early," Oscar explained. He paused and looked at Caterina. "You should go home and get some rest, you look tired."

"Trust me, I am so energetic and I can do some extra work," Caterina said jokefully.

Oscar rolled his eyes. "You should definitely go home and rest," he replied.

"Ok, fine," she replied with a sigh. "But I will be back early tomorrow," she said before she got into her car and drove home.

Caterina walked into her apartment, greeted by the warm aroma of potato soup and the tidy living room. Oscar's cleaning skill had transformed the space, and Cleo was lounging contentedly on the couch. Caterina smiled, feeling grateful for her friend's help.

Cleo comes to welcome her rounding her and grooming her tails at her, she seems so excited.

Caterina picked her up, and pet her. "You look so happy, did you enjoy the Oscar visitation that much?"

Cleo meowing loudly and rubbing her head on her cheek, Caterina smiled and put her down.

Oscar has already cleaned up the entire apartment, and that must be the reason why Cleo is happy.

Caterina went to the dinner table and opened the food, the sweet aroma of the potato soup filled the entire room.

"Uh looks delicious," she said with a smile before she rushed to her room and took a quick shower. She came out putting on a simple white tank top and a pair of comfortable shorts, her hair still damp from the shower. She looked refreshed and relaxed, a warm smile still on her face as she headed to the freezer to pour herself a glass of juice,

Oscar has restored her freezer with fresh foods and fruits, with a note.

'eat healthy' she smiled and tossed it away.

She sat down eager to eat delicious food that had caught her attention.

She ate a bite and couldn't stop eating until she was full.

She smiled and took out the chips, gladly she hid them perfectly.

Oscar has already taken out all the junkie and replaced it with healthy food, but she just can't do without this junkie.

"Don't look at me like that, you betrayed me by telling him all of my hiding spots," she pouted as walked back to her room with a bottle of soda.

~

Caterina woke up more energetic, emerged from her bedroom, the disarray hit her like a wave. Crumpled snack wrappers and empty soda cans littered the floor, remnants of her late-night binge. She stepped over the mess, her bare feet padding softly on the carpet, and made her way to the bathroom and took a shower before leaving for work.

"Oh you are here early?" Caterina said as she stepped out of her car.

Oscar gives her a cup of hot chocolate and donuts. "I figured out that you haven't eaten so I brought this for you."

"Thanks, but I will prefer cola and hamburger next time," she said before taking a bite and Oscar rolled his eyes.

"So did you find anything to report on yet?"

"Nothing, I am going back to the office, let me tag along," he said before getting into her car.

"I am definitely not driving you in my car, get out."

"No," he insisted and closed his eyes.

"Ok fine, I will take pity on you for bringing me breakfast," she said before getting into the car.

"Tina, when was the last time you washed your hair?" He asked as he covered his nose.

"I don't know but I did use water to wash it yesterday, so I did."

"You should consider using shampoo to wash it next time."

"I don't want to," she responded before focusing on driving.

"Get out of my car, young man, we have reached our destination," Caterina said before walking to the office.

"Caterina," Sophia rushed to her immediately.

"What's the matter?" Caterina's expression turned serious.

Sophia paused and frowned. "When last did you wash your hair?" She asked.

"Told you," Oscar murmurs as he walks behind her.

Caterina groaned and rolled her eyes. "Does it smell that bad, but you hugged me yesterday."

"I barely survive, you should wash your hair, how about...."

"No, I will gladly reject your offer, I won't let anyone sleep over at my place," Caterina said before walking to her desk.

"But my mom keeps on nagging about my work and getting married, please help me until I find a place of mine," she pleaded.

Oscar smirked. "Are you sure that you are going to survive by staying with her, your mom nagging will be better."

Caterina grunt and raised her eyebrows at him. "And what do you mean by that?"

"I mean..."

"Caterina let me see you in my office," SAC James said before he could finish with his word.

"Yes sir," Caterina rolled her eyes at Oscar before walking to SAC James' office.

"Good morning sir."

"Morning, so are you prepared for this mission, you can pick up your ID from Luca, he already manage to secure a manager position at De Rizzo company so you will be applying as his secretary, make sure to do all you can to get this position, if not I am not sure of there will be another vacant," SAC James explained.

Caterina nodded her head with a determined look. "Yes sir," she walked out of his office and went to Luca's desk immediately.

"Hey Luca, SAC James asked me to pick up my stuff from you."

"Yeah, here is the ID and other things that you will be needing," he said as he handed her all the information.

Caterina's gaze fell upon the ID, her expression twisting in distaste. The photo depicted an older version of herself. "Really, Luca? 30? Are you kidding me, and what's with this picture, do you think that anyone will want to hire someone that looks like this as his secretary?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Luca sighed. "Yeah what's the difference, and also you change the way you dress."

"Ok."

Caterina took a few steps before she heard his voice from behind. "And also the interview is starting by 10 am."

"Ahh and you are just telling me now," she grunted and ran out. She was not sure if she had any corporate clothes to wear to this interview, she was just so annoyed.

Chapter 3 interview.

Caterina went to a mall close to his company and got her clothes changed into a white shirt and pants, she is not used to wearing heels as she is 5 '4 inches tall.

Immediately Caterina went into company, she spot Luca, and give him a 'fuck you' look before walking to the interview room.

Caterina took a deep breath as she was called into the interview room.

She appears calm, before the people present.

"Hello, I'm Caterina Mocano, and I'm here for the secretary position."

One of the interviewers nodded his head. "Good, we have a few questions for you,"

The interviewer, a middle-aged man with a stern expression, leaned forward. "Ms. Mocano, can you tell us about your previous experience as a secretary?"

Caterina smiled confidently. "Yes, of course. In my previous role, I handled scheduling, correspondence, and data entry for a fast-paced office environment."

The interviewer nodded, making a note on her file. "Good. How would you handle confidential information?"

Caterina's response was smooth. "I'm accustomed to handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism."

As the interview progressed, Caterina fielded questions about her skills and experience.

But what she is most excited about is meeting Mr De Rizzo who was among the interviewers, but he didn't raise his head and appeared cold.

She can't wait to get this job and start working on her mission immediately, she got more excited with working in a company like this and also with a fake identity.

Caterina went back home tired, she still had a lot to do In this mission, to be like a professional secretary.

Two weeks later.

~Ring~

Caterina was woken up with a call, she robbed her eyes and looked at the strange number.

She frowned and picked up the call. "Morning!"

"Ms Mocano, when are you planning to resume work?" A strange voice came out from the other line.

"Work? I... oh!!" She screamed and jumped up from the bed. She is not used to going to work early and forgot that she received an email from De Rizzo company yesterday.

She took a quick shower and put on her corporate wear, she got into the car and her car won't start.

"Gosh I forgot!" She screamed and quickly ran, she took a taxi and got to the company by 10am.

She knocked on the door and a deep voice came from inside.

"Sir, I'm so...."

"Get me the file from the table," Daniele said coldly without looking up at her.

Caterina took a deep breath and got him the file. "Good morning sir, do you need anything?"

"No, you can leave," he said coldly again, it was as if he was avoiding her gaze.

Caterina frowned, she didn't expect him to be this simple, she tried to look at him closely when someone came in.

"I can see that you have a new secretary," Alessandro said as he sat down on the couch.

"You can leave," Daniele said as he rose up and walked to where Alessandro was seated.

"Yes sir," Caterina responded, even though she was so curious about what they wanted to talk about.

"Have you got the agent's MSI off the case?" He questioned as he stared at him coldly.

"Why are you so serious about this case, they will get bored soon."

"You should have cleaned it up immediately, why did you leave the scene?" He scolded.

Alessandro smirks. "Brother why are you getting worked up, I will clean up your mess perfected, why did you have to go and kill a hostess."

"She is getting in our way, and also it is not my mess, you should not have brought the lady, she is not part of the plan, and anything that is not part of the plan is an obstacle."

"She just wants to spend the night with you and you took it too seriously," Alessandro jokes, but Daniele's gaze turned even more serious.

"We can't take any risk, get it cleaned up, and don't mess up any operation again," he ordered before walking back to his desk and getting busy with work.

Meanwhile Caterina was trying to eavesdrop on their conversation, Caterina's eyes darted back to the door, her mind racing with questions. She leaned in slightly, trying to catch a snippet of their conversation she edged closer to the door, her ear pressed against the wood as she strained to hear their conversation.

"What the hell is going on inside?" She questioned in frustration.

Just when she was about to walk back to her deck Alessandro opened the door and her eyes poked up in surprise.

"Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?" He asked as he folded his hand looking at her straight up.

Caterina coughed slightly and rolled her eyes in annoyance, "No I wasn't, I just want to enter and ask if you need anything before you open the door, so tell me sir, do you need anything?" She asked with raised eyebrows.

Alessandro scoffed. "Really I can tell from the expression on your face that you are, but I will tell you not to mess with my brother," he said before walking away.

Caterina gets more curious about why he said that she shouldn't mess with his brother. "Is he really a dangerous man," she wondered.

She got a call from Luca to meet up with him on the stairs.

"Why did you call me here?" She asked.

"Did you find out anything?"

"No I didn't, I don't even get to stay in his office for a long time, but he seems like a normal CEO, cold and handsome, but I will try to check his office later in the afternoon, when he leaves for lunch."

"Ok, but just don't get caught," he warned.

Caterina raised her eyebrows at him. "Are you the boss now?" She walked away after saying that.

Caterina went back to her desk after getting herself a cup of hot chocolate drink and a donut. She is planning to have her lunch before anyone does, so that she will have time to check his office.

Caterina kept a close eye on his office door as the time passed by waiting for him to come out for lunch, but he didn't, neither did he call her in.

When Caterina couldn't wait anymore she walked into his office.

Daniele looked up at her, his gaze was cold and sharp, she stared at him and got lost of words, and just kept on staring into his eyes.

"Sir...."

"Get out," he said coldly before she could finish with her word.
