So much trashing and crashing was heard loudly inside the classic living room with modern luxurious decor, the supposed French-styled living room was now a total mess, expensive flower vase, table lamp, China wares and porcelain jug were in a sorry state as their pieces were lying on the expensive tiled floor.
The older couple tried to coax and explain things to their ignorant daughter but it was all useless as the girl was adamant about getting what she wanted and that was something impossible for her parent to do, she was devastated as she sat on the bare floor with her hair scattered not caring about her perfect image, what she wanted was what was important to her at the moment.
On a cream-coloured couch, there sat a calm yet beautiful girl, she just stared at the mess her twin had created as if it was nothing, no one could blame her for her indifference, she had selective mutism, she never talked, not even when she was alone with her family, no one knew if it was her selective mutism or she purposely chose to be quiet for the reason best known to her but everyone knew her as the pretty dumb girl, a total difference from her lively and jovial twin.
She stared at her twin sister who was crying and throwing tantrums while her parents tried to cajole her but she was strong-headed and kept her mind on the same thing her parent was against and that was to get married to Mr Drew Euston, the ruthless and heartless CEO of a large company, he was rumoured to be a psychopath and derived pleasure from hurting others.
Adaline had no reason why her parent made an arranged marriage between her and the cold-blooded devil, she could see with her very own eyes that her twin sister wanted to be the one to get married to the devil yet they refused.
"Enough!! We are doing this for you, we can't let you get married to someone who is psychologically abnormal, you've heard the rumours surrounding him yourself, stop being a fool and see how we are looking out for you, everything is for your good"
Mr Thom's voice growled out loudly in the whole room shutting the crybaby to silence, he could not stand his stupid daughter's behaviour anymore, he only wanted the best for her. Adele was shaken by her father's thunderous shout and it made her keep quiet and sob silently as she hiccuped
Adaline frowned deeply at her father's statement, she was finding it hard to understand the logic in what he spouted, he said he would not let his daughter get married to a psychologically abnormal man but what about her? Wasn't she his daughter as well? They were twin sisters and she was the younger one, then what did he mean by his words?
She was wondering who Mr Drew was because she never met him in person, Adele was the only person who had seen him. She was wondering what he would look like, how old was he. Fifty years old? Sixty years old? Or even higher or maybe lower.
Mrs Freda silently lifted her sobbing daughter from the floor and escorted her to her room, she felt sorry for her daughter but what her daughter was asking for was impossible. The whole arranged marriage thing was only a business alliance and nothing else, their company was falling at a fast pace and was close to bankruptcy, they needed a partner to help them and Mr Drew was their only hope, they decided to get him married to their mute daughter, they also saw this as a good opportunity to get their dumb daughter a husband because they knew no man would ever want to get married to a girl suffering from selective mutism and could not even talk, though the man they were marrying their daughter too wasn't good but was better than living as a dumb old maid.
Mr Thom glanced at Adaline and turned his back to her, he was feeling guilty but it was still better than leaving her hopelessly without a man to marry, he could not find any other person, Mr Drew was their only choice and it surprised him that Mr Drew had no complaints when he told him that his daughter was dumb but he didn't ponder much and moved forward to other preparations.
"Adaline, get prepared because anytime soon Mr Drew will be coming to take you and don't disappoint us, this is our only hope for a better future"
After talking without looking at her, he matched out of the house through the front door. Adaline finally registered everything, she now understood but she did not mind that her parent was using her to salvage their company because she was dumb. Even if she wanted to do something, what could she do? She knew how hard things were for them so the least she could do to contribute was to get married for a business alliance and save their falling empire. A small smile fell on her lips for the first time in a very long time.
It was just two years ago that the Cintron twins graduated from the university, they both studied fashion design together. Adele decided to study fashion design but because of Adaline's disorder, she was asked to study fashion design along with her twin and she obliged without any further questioning.
Though fashion designing was suggested to Adaline by her parent, she still did well and excelled.
Adaline and Adele were a pair of identical twins, opposite of themselves. Adele was known to love people acknowledging and praising her like a goddess, she always had a warm and lovely smile on her beautiful face that was no different from Adaline.
Adaline was a dumb girl, she was always mute and was known to always be alone with a poker face giving out no emotion on her expressionless face. It was as if she hated her presence being known and if she and Adele made an appearance in public gatherings together, it was always Adele who caught the attention while she was like an unwanted background and a cold statue.
Although they were identical, they could still be differentiated, Adaline had charcoal black hair, very long reaching the middle of her buttocks, dark soulless eyes that could never let out a smile or emotion, all it did was look and close for a night of sleep.
Adele had chocolate brown hair, which was just in the middle of her back, wavy and shiny, she had light brown eyes that shone brightly whenever she smiled heartily in contentment.
Inside a bedroom that gave off a girlish vibe, it was painted in cream and gold and a touch of peach, a very wide room with a walk-in closet. On the queen-size bed, two figures sat on the bed while the older one tries to pacify the younger who was nothing but her sweet daughter.
Being denied what she wanted after so many pleas and tears, she was devastated and sad, all she wanted was to get married to the man of her dreams, she never asked for anything much. She was the best, was more lovely, the only one bringing good attention and respect to her family but why was it so hard to get what she wanted? Her twin sister who came second after her in everything as she had always thought was made to get married to the legendary Mr Drew, was the same person she had fantasized about getting married to.
Not many people had the privilege of seeing the face of the CEO of The Euston's Corporations, not many had seen him but so many rumours surrounded him, known as a heartless man, a cold-blooded devil, a psychopath and many more to mention but a few. The people who never had the pleasure of seeing him always deduced that he was an ugly potbellied short man in his 60s or 50s but it turns out that they were wrong because Adele Cintron, the beauty that stole people's breath away with her smiles had seen him with her own two eyes and being awestruck was not good enough to describe how she felt that night she saw him.
That very night, as usual, was one of the nights she and her twin followed their father Mr Thom for a dinner party, a lot of influential and business elites around the country attended the gathering but it was a mystery who threw the dinner party.
Adele got the attention and praises she always wanted and Adaline just sat low-key in a quiet chair, They did so many chattings and laughter in merry, making toasts and greeting both old and new friends. Adele had felt the urge to pee so she excused herself with her usual happy energy and left for the bathroom but on her way passing the hallway to the bathroom, she heard a female voice and the sound of a stiletto hitting the marble floor as the person ran with urgency but something else caught her interest, it was the word coming out of the lady's mouth, the lady was wearing typical office wear, she held a mobile phone that was flashing lights as she ran approaching a person as she said the words, 'Mr Drew! You have an emergency call that needs your attention now, Mr Drew!'
Out of mere curiosity, Adele turned her head towards the direction the lady was running and she saw a very handsome man who had a deep frown on his beautiful and well-carved eyebrows when he stared at the lady running towards him, his lips were pursed in a thin line, his nose pointy and sexy, his black eyes narrowed, he was tall and well built with great physics visible under his expensive tailored suit.
Adele saw him collect the phone from the lady and placed it on his ears and took long and heavy strides out of the hallway, she stood there as she saw him pass by her without even giving her a single look, he smelt so good and manly that already intoxicated her when he passed by her. Adele was completely lost and rooted to the ground, she could not find her feet to move, her mouth slightly open as she was almost drooling.
Did she just see a Greek god? Or was it her imagination playing with her reality?
She was jolted back to reality when she heard the sound of the stiletto and it stopped when she saw the lady standing before her giving her a questioning look that said 'why are you staring at my boss like that?' and it was as if Adele got the message and she immediately asked the lady who was the god of manly beauty that she saw just now? She could never believe that that man was Mr Drew, that was impossible, Mr Drew was an ugly man and with the rumours, he could not be anywhere close to this Adonis, and she wanted to know if there was another Mr Drew but it was as if the lady was not interested in giving her the information she needed, the lady was about to leave and Adele decided to offer her money and after so much bargaining, the lady finally complied and gave out the information of her boss to Adele, Adele was in a state of shock, so the rumours were after all lies, Mr Drew was never ugly, neither was he fat or old, he was beyond beautiful and handsome.
But it wouldn't be her who would end up marrying Mr Drew but her mute twin would get married to him, how would she ever let that happen? She would do anything she could to make sure Mr Drew marries her regardless of whether her parent would agree or not, she needed an urgent plan.
Loud music booming, loud enough to have one deaf for a good period of time but it seems like the people inside the bar were used to the loud sound, something they loved apart from hooking up with the opposite sex, drinking to their heart content, meeting with people and having fun, the loud music just happens to bring them to the world they love, the world of sweet pleasure, distraction from the real world.
The bar was of a dim red and blue light, people sat on different tables, having shots of expensive alcohol bringing them to the mood they so much enjoy, in the middle of the bar was a pole, half naked women were twisting and dancing erotically on the pole in order to seduce and entertain the guest, at another side was a dance floor having a small crowd of people moving and rocking their bodies to the beat of the music, a lot of touching, rubbing and grabbing were carried out on the dance floor with sexy ladies moving their asses on crotch of their dance partner, not hesitating to do anything as spontaneously as they wanted without caring about anything.
At different corners, they were couples making out, some individuals already drunk and not conscious of their mental state, some already passed out, others were puking due to the many intake of alcohol but some were still in a good state of mind.
The pub was a very popular one, it was owned by the Euston's Corporations, unlike the local pubs or any other pubs, it was very convenient because they offer free room services to drunk and already passed out customers, this was the very reason why people enjoyed coming here to drink and not stop till they drop because it was a safe haven for them in their drunken state and no outsider would see the not so good side of them that might give them a bad name.
It was mainly rich business men, public figures, even celebrities and others with a good image that were regulars and VIPs in the bar. No matter how unruly they behaved, it was never out in the public because the bar kept their privacy intact and even provided rooms to the customers for a rest in their drunken state. Even most celebrities loved coming to the bar because it was the perfect place to behave wild without being seen or monitored by the paparazzi.
In another corner sat a group of young adults on a round table, one was with a cold and piercing gaze while sipping a whiskey from a glass, opposite him was a guy having a sexy woman sitting beside him while she snuggled in his embrace, he had a teasing smile directed towards the cold man opposite him. In-between the two men was a girl, a tomboy with a short blue hair, a long earring.
"Don't tell me you are finally going to get married after you blatantly said it yourself that you are not interested in marriage?"
The guy with a woman suddenly laughed as he said to the man sitting opposite him, his laughter was laced with mockery but the man just gave him a stare and looked away.
"Say Phoebe, what do you think about this sudden turn of event?"
He directed his question to the blue haired tomboy, his grin was so wide that it was reaching his ears, he wasn't bothered that he was ignored by the man because he had grown used to his passiveness.
"I must say, it's quite surprising, never would have thought you'd end up a married man afterall"
A slight chuckle found it's way out of her lips as she replied the smiling man with her masculine alluring voice.
"And it's more shocking that you are marrying a mute girl without any query, tell me Drew, what's your reason for the sudden marriage huh?"
His smile never left his lips as he kept on bombering unending questions to the man named Drew sitting opposite him.
"That's enough question for today Justin, let's give him a break, he'll soon be having a lot of responsibilities to shoulder as a married man, so much thinking needs to be made as a soon-to-be husband, don't you agree with me Drew?"
Justin bursted out in another fit of laughter at Phoebe's statement, he clearly remembered when he would ask Drew to go out with him to pick up women for his leisure time but Drew would bluntly refuse saying he had no interest for women and that made Justin to have the thought that his dear friend would end up an old maid but now he was suddenly getting married.
Drew drank his drink in one gulp, he stood up after dropping the glass on the table.
"I'll be heading out first, a lot of pending work needs my attention at the office"
With that, he left the bar, Justin let out a sigh as he looked at the retreating back of Drew, his friend never changed even when he was going to be a married man, he smiled at that thought but something was confusing, of all the beautiful women he knew, why would Drew pick a mute girl for a wife? Who would have thought his friend's choice of women was so..so. He had seen the girl before and he must say that both of them almost had the same personality, cold, distant, quiet, etc.
"Excuse me Justin, I'll head out to go catch some few femmes, see you later"
Phoebe stood up and left Justin with his maybe date, she was a lesbian and was interested in women, Justin looked at her and shook his head, no matter how odd his friends were, he still loved them just the way they were.
