I have seen you from afar.
With the darkness in my world and destruction in my path,
I have seen you from afar.
My eyes would follow wherever you are, like a dying man looking at the star.
And my heart longed for you, even though I was barred,
By the destiny that has sent me away, from wherever you are.
CHAPTER ONE
ADELIA
A sword neatly pierced through my heart and my body shuddered in pain. I looked at the familiar blade that punctured my body with disbelief before raising my eyes to see the man who I was willing to give my life and soul for. My lower lip trembled as I stared at his face.
His beautiful eyes that previously looked at me with love and adoration were filled with coldness and cruelty.
My heart was immediately torn, and my soul shattered, making me feel a pain even worse than the blade piercing my heart.
"...why?" I hoarsely asked.
He was my mate... For him to kill me by stabbing me in the heart... I could not understand why.
My heart was bleeding... and so was my soul.
Alec looked at me without much expression on his face. After a few seconds, the corner of his lip lifted in a playful smirk.
"Absorbing the essence of your wolf will give me her powers," he softly whispered. "Your wolf is... very talented. So, I hope you don't mind, sweetheart."
"I have to kill you in order to do this," he added. I shivered as I heard the gentle tone that he only used whenever he talked to me.
'He wants... to kill me... so he could get Ylva's power?'
My mind refused to process what I just heard. However, as I saw his indifferent look... and the greed that flashed in his eyes.... I knew that everything was real.
Our mate who was supposed to love and cherish us... wanted to kill us... and even used the blade that I gifted him to pierce my heart.
Humid wind blew on my body and yet my body felt very cold. I closed my eyes and shuddered. Inside me, my wolf was crying with indescribable pain.
Suddenly, I felt cold lips on my forehead. The kiss that I loved the most became the death's kiss that brought my body unforgettable sorrow. I tried to open my mouth, but no words came out. With great difficulty, I could only open my eyes and look at my mate with agony and melancholy.
Alec saw my stare and he slightly sighed. Then, I heard his chilling voice in my ears, "Don't worry, sweetheart. I pierced you straight to your heart. Your pain will end soon."
His voice had no remorse and guilt. My soul helplessly quivered before tears of blood clouded my sight and painted my world red.

"Ha..." I panted before my eyes scanned my surroundings and sighed when I saw a familiar sight. A small room without a window. A single bed, and a small cloth cabinet.
"The vision ended... and I'm back in my room..." I held my chest to calm my still racing heart.
"But... the vision this time is so clear..." I quietly muttered before sitting at the side of my bed, my body bereft of energy.
It had already been four years since I started seeing visions. But it never felt so real as the last one that I just had.
It all started when I first shifted and met my wolf, Ylva.
Compared to the other wolves, Ylva was special. She appeared to be a weak wolf with a strength equivalent to that of an omega. However, she had gifts. And one of those gifts was the ability to see the future.
Because of her, I was able to see what the future holds.
The good things that would happen in our pack. The important events that would shake the entire werekind. The disasters that would eventually befall everyone...
The fall of the werewolves.
More than that, I saw my own destiny.
The power that my wolf possessed.
My mate.
His betrayal.
I closed my eyes and felt a painful throbbing in my heart. Although I did not experience it, yet, the vision of him stabbing my heart while looking at me with cold, indifferent eyes was enough to make my soul tremble. Inside of me, I felt my wolf quiver.
"Ylva, we are so unfortunate to have a mate like that," I softly whispered as I tried to console my wolf.
"But... don't worry. I will never let it happen." I closed my eyes and communicated to my wolf. 'I will never let anyone, especially him, hurt you,' I whispered to my wolf.
Although the visions that I saw were things that were bound to happen in the future, they weren't absolute, as my actions and decisions could affect them. And I would do my best to alter my future and protect my wolf.
For one, I tried my best to not meet my mate, Alec... the newly appointed alpha of our pack.
In my vision, we were supposed to meet at the library of my school shortly after my eighteenth birthday. To prevent that, I stopped going to the library and went home after every class. After graduation, I opted to work in a human flower shop where I was mostly away from other's eyes. Although my home was still in the pack, I also avoided going to the pack house and other public places inside the territory. Thus, years passed without me meeting him.
"And I want it to stay that way," I muttered before standing up and pouring myself a cup of hot water.
'To have a mate who would only kill you in the end... it's even much better not to meet him. Unfortunately, there are things I have to do. And I can't avoid seeing him anymore,' I thought to myself as I stared at the water cup in my hand.
Suddenly, the door of the small room I was renting blasted open and my father unceremoniously entered. His face was red, and his eyes looked crazy. He was obviously seething. Then, he moved and the next thing I knew, I felt a resounding slap on my face.
My cheeks received the impact and I fell on the ground. Sharp pain started pounding on my cheeks and my eyesight darkened for a few seconds. Inside my mouth, I tasted the blood.
"Useless!" My father hissed. "It's already been four years and you still haven't improved!" He screamed. He was so mad that veins started appearing on his forehead.
My eyelashes fluttered and I kept my mouth shut. My father had hated me ever since he learned that my wolf was very weak and thus placed me in the category of the omegas but he had never been this seething for years.
'Could it be that it's that time already?' I thought as I looked at the ground and avoided my father's enraged eyes.
"Now the alpha has called for everyone to gather and meet the alphas from the other territory. You will bring shame on our family again!" My father shouted.
'Ylva... seems like it is that time already,' I told my wolf who softly howled inside of me. In one of my visions, I saw that an assembly in our pack would be helped and that all the alphas will be coming together to give respect to the prince of the werewolf who would come over to visit. At that time, 'he' would be coming too. The alpha of the most mysterious pack in the world.
And the only one who could help me with my situation.
My father saw that I did not have any reaction to him and even became more enraged. He took one of my chairs and flipped it over to my cabinet, instantly making it broken. I could not help but furrow my eyes when I saw my cloth cabinet being smashed to pieces and my clothes tearing. Some of the debris smashing towards me and scratching my legs.
"Don't even think that you can come near us later!" He shouted before leaving my room.
'Everything is broken, Ylva,' I told my wolf as my eyes surveyed the room. 'I don't think I even have something decent to wear...' A couple of seconds later, I told my wolf.
'But we have to attend this assembly.
'...because it's our only chance to meet 'him.''
Because in my world, you are my light.
The light that has set my otherwise dark soul bright.
And for you, I would do everything, anything,
Even to the point of chopping my own wings,
Because, I have seen you from afar,
And in my heart, you are my world, my light,
Thus, I will follow you,
Even if my soul falls apart.
I stood up and cleaned myself up. Then, I rummaged through the debris where my clothes were supposed to be and managed to find a decent black shirt and a pair of jeans. The jeans had some cut on it, but after sewing some part of it, it looked decent enough to wear them.
After half an hour, I was ready to go out.
'Now, I have to go and find him,' I thought to myself as I headed out to the pack hall.
The territory was bustling. All the wolves came over to give respect to the prince.
I walked towards the hall where the other wolves were gathered. I looked at the wolves who were wearing some formal attire and looked down at my t-shirt and pair of jeans. Unsurprisingly, I received some hard stares.
I ignored them. After all, they were not the reason why I came over here.
When I was about to enter the hall, however, two of the warriors who were guarding the entrance prevented me from entering.
I blinked my eyes and looked at them. "Excuse me, I need to enter the hall," I respectfully told the warriors. However, they only looked at me with condensing eyes.
"You can't enter," one of them told me.
"The alpha ordered for everyone to gather. Why can't I enter?" I asked them.
Instead of answering me, I heard one of them snigger before saying, "The Alpha indeed ordered for all the wolves to attend the gathering. But you are too weak... almost like a human. I don't think the Alpha meant to include you."
The Alpha's orders were absolute. More than that, if I were caught failing to greet the prince, I would be heavily punished for blatantly disrespecting a royalty. I narrowed my eyes on the warriors.
They were aware of that rule. And they were intentionally doing it to bring me trouble.
'Nevermind... in my vision, 'he' will be there when that thing happens. I can just wait at the forest beside the pack house and wait for him,' I decided before decisively walking to the forest connected to the pack house, ignoring the warriors who looked surprised at my action.
Fresh air blew on my face, making me feel more comfortable. Inside of me, I felt that my wolf was feeling excited.
'Do you like it, Ylva? I'm sorry. Because of our situation, we couldn't go out more,' I sighed as I looked at the beautiful night sky.
The visions that I was seeing made a great impact on my life. I stopped going out and calculated my every move. Ever since I started shifting, I have not gone out with my wolf for a run.
'These are things we have to do, Ylva. Because in this lifetime, I will make sure that no one will harm you. And everyone who will try to hurt you will pay,' I told her as a sharp glint appeared on my eyes.
Suddenly, my nose caught the most beautiful scent. I was almost immediately intoxicated. My heart immediately started to beat erratically, and my eyes widened with alertness.
'This smell... Ylva...' I called for my wolft , alarmed. Unsurprisingly, she also caught a whiff of that smell and was howling both in happiness and melancholy.
'It's him... isn't it?' I thought to myself.
'Alec...'
'... our mate.'
Without any warning, the smell of our mate became more and more pronounced... until it became so close to us. I started panicking.
'Oh no. It seems like he caught our scent and is coming near us!'
Immediately, I grabbed my small bag and hurriedly took out a brown box. I opened it and I saw a purple flower inside. Without wasting any moment, I clutched on the flower and held it on my chest as I hid behind a huge tree.
A few seconds later, I saw Alec's figure appear near the tree where I was. Like in my vision, he looked tall and handsome. He had brown hair that reached until his shoulder and eyes that were like amethyst. My eyes were instantly glued to him.
'Mate!' My mind screamed. I bit my lower lip and forced myself to stay quiet. At the same time, my wolf quivered as if she was about to come out.
'No, Ylva. Although he is our mate....
...he is not the one for us,' I thought as my eyes slowly filled with tears.
How I wished that my visions were wrong.
How I wished that I could run into Alec's arms and hold him.
How I wished I could put my head on his chest and hear the beating of his heart.
'Happily being with him for a few years... will it be enough to compensate him for killing me?' I thought as I stared at his face.
However, when I felt my wolf inside of me, my heart was instantly filled with anger.
'No,' I thought. 'Not in this lifetime. I will never let him hurt me and Ylva,' I decided with my hands fisted like stones.
At that moment, Alec looked into my direction as if he noticed something and started approaching me. My heart immediately beat like crazy.
'Please work... please work!' I panicked as I held the flower with both hands.
Fortunately, after a few seconds, Alec stopped approaching me as if someone called him. Then, shortly, I felt him walking away.
I sighed in relief and stared at the flower that was almost crushed.
Zanita, the purple flower, could mask one's scent for a short time. It was a precious thing that I tried so hard to get. And now, it has become trash with only one use.
'At least, it saved me,' I took a sigh. 'Alec didn't see me before I found him,' I thought before looking at the direction Alec went.
At that moment, my heart was feeling a kind of sadness that I could not describe. I knew that seeing him the first time would be hard. However, I never imagined it would be this. I felt like my heart was slowly being torn apart and being shattered.
It was at this moment when I heard a low chuckle before a low and mysterious voice said, "What's this? An omega who is hiding from her mate who happens to be her alpha."
"Interesting."
My eyes widened at the figure that I saw.
He was a man even taller than Alec. His black hair was cut short and neat, and he had eyes that were as dark as midnight.
Silence surrounded him. He was standing in front of me and my eyes could clearly see him. Yet, I could not feel his presence, like he was not there and all I was seeing was merely an illusion.
Dangerous. He was a very dangerous man. And my heart could not help but beat even faster.
He was terrifying. The man was so powerful that he could kill me with a flick of his finger. His dangerous eyes were focused on me, and I knew that if I made a single mistake, I would immediately lose my life.
All of my senses were greatly alarmed as my body acknowledged the great danger in front of me.
Yet, my mind was surprised and my heart excited to see him.
Because... he was the one I was looking for.
Lewis Talascar. The Alpha of the Pack of Talascar. The most mysterious pack in the whole werekind. .
The alpha whose powers would save the werewolf royalty from the hand of the evil god, and the one who would play a crucial role in the survival of the werewolves during the great war.
'Too bad... in my vision, I died before the end of the great war,' I thought to myself as I stared at the mysterious man in front of me. 'I was not able to see whether we would win the great war... or whether the werewolves would end up completely disappearing in this land.'
Lewis quietly looked at me. There was not an ounce of emotion in his gaze and so I had no clue what he was thinking. Thankfully, after a couple of seconds, he said, "You're looking directly into my eyes. Are you not afraid?"
'Afraid?' I thought to myself.
Alpha Lewis was known for his cruelty. Even though only a few werewolves saw him in person, every werewolves were aware that Alpha Lewis was a killer who already killed hundreds, if not thousands, of beings.
'...yes... I am afraid...' My body started trembling. I gripped my hands together but I did not look away from his eyes.
'...But, I have to take this chance,' I decided before gathering my courage and telling him, "I am naturally afraid of you, Alpha Lewis."
The surroundings suddenly changed and became even more suffocating. The dark night became even darker. If it was not for my werewolf eyes, everything would look pitch black to me. Cold sweat started dripping on my body and my heart felt like it was about to burst... especially when I saw Lewis taking slow steps towards me.
I saw him walking towards me and yet I could not hear his footsteps. My entire body was frozen in place, until I saw him leaning forward until his face was only a few inches away from mine. His dark eyes imprisoned mine, and I felt like death started to approach me.
"So, this little omega knows me," he gently said. His voice was so soft, and yet, I was even more shaken after hearing him.
It was like I was standing at death's door, and I was being suffocated by the aura of death.
But, I was ready to gamble with my life. Thus, despite my trembling voice, I replied, "Not only do I know you... I also know... about your power... and your plan."
Complete silence followed my statement. Lewis' expression did not change. He was still looking at me calmly, making me even more frightened.
"Oh?" He merely said and my whole body started feeling so cold, making my lower lip tremble.
"How?" He softly asked, and I knew that if I answered one wrong word, the darkness surrounding me would immediately take my soul away from my body.
I closed my eyes, having no more courage to stare at his terrifying eyes. But I took a deep breath before telling him, "Because.... I saw it."
"The future.... I saw it. What will happen in this land... The enemy that will attack us. How you fought a god to save the prince. I saw it all," I told him with my eyes closed. Maybe because I was talking about it in my mind, the painful memories of the visions I had flashed through my mind.
Humans were suffering. Werewolves were being killed and tortured. Mates wailing for their fallen mates... and dead bodies of comrades on the ground, their blood making the ground red.
My body once again trembled. But this time, it was from the pain the visions have given me.
"The future?" I heard Lewis say. "Little omega, tell me why would I believe you?" His voice was still very gentle. However, I felt as if my neck was on a gallow, waiting to be executed. If not for his curiosity on how my answer would be, he would not even spare me a second.
'Well, there is only one thing that can convince him,' I thought before taking another deep breath. Then, I slowly opened my eyes and looked at him.
A flash of surprise appeared in Lewis' eyes as he saw me. He looked into my eyes deeply for a couple of seconds before he said with a hint of amazement, "Eye with star."
I summoned the power of my wolf and it had manifested in my eyes. Like Ylva's eyes, at that moment, my left eye contained the symbol of a star.
"My wolf..." I started to explain to him, "...has the power to see the future. She possesses the eyes of an oracle."
"Hmmm. I see," I heard Lewis say. "But... Why are you telling me this?"
My eyelashes fluttered as I stared back into his eyes. Ever since I have seen the future, I have thought long and hard. How would I be able to prevent the disasters that would come our way? How would I save the beings I hold dear, especially Ylva, my wolf?
How would I be able to change our ill-fate and destiny?
I meticulously planned. And in the end, I decided that the only way I could accomplish this was to get the help of this powerful and dangerous alpha in front of me.
'This is it. I have nothing to lose... because if I don't get his help... we will end up dying again...' I gripped my hands as tight as I could before straightforwardly telling Lewis,
"I told you all of this... because I want to join hands with you."
