Chapter 1 Prologue

"Find her!!"

Those words came out with fury as prodding footsteps headed towards the woods searching for a girl who was declared a terror in the land.

On a lonely path stood a girl, covered in blood, her steps were steady and slow, tears filled her eyes while those shaking hands of hers swung to and fro.

All that rang in this girl's s mind was to escape or end up dying if caught. She tried hard to fight back tears and began a race. But unfortunately, she fell to the ground and got bruised. This bruised girl folded her fist and managed to get to her feet. With doubts of ever surviving, she sat on the lonely path, curled her knee to her breast and buried her face with tears until her fate gets decided.

Voices and echoes began to draw closer to where she laid, it was over probably for her because they would have caught up with her any moment from now. Her ears twisted at the emerging sounds and suddenly, a light shone on her which made her shuddered. Even though her face was covered, she could tell he found her and there was no going back.

Her body quivered as it noticed a foreign hand touch her bloody arm, she raised her head slowly and gaze at him. He stoops low to her position as their eyes met.

This man made her more frighten, she swallowed hard, shoved his hand away, shift back a little and asked;

"Who are you?"

It was late at night as the cold breeze swept through the kingdom. Wolves could be seen returning with their hunts for the evening, while the females left behind waited in anticipation to reunite with their mates.

Somewhere in the woods, grunts were heard, which drew a wandering alpha. It was a snow-white, who was trying her best to shoot an arrow at a tree but was failing at it, which made her growl in frustration. Her dark hair hiding her face behold recognition, she had released her fangs and claws sharpen to scratch out the tree which had made her freak out. The alpha chuckled at her, and she shoved her face at him.

Those angry eyes of hers had brightened up on sighting him. Those nervous hands let go of the bow and arrow as she tugged her air behind her eyes and acted all feminine at him. Her wolf excited to see him and she called;

"Lucian!"

He scoffed at her for those pretentious acts she was pulling on in front of him. Her mauve eyes had switched into a gray, soulful one. Her claws sinking back, but her fang remains.

She was a white wolf and one who was beautiful and desirable by all Alphas to be their mate. This wolf was the last of its kind and the only one in her pack. How lucky he could be having her as his.

"I wonder what the Alpha would do if he finds out his precious daughter is learning to be a warrior!" He snapped, straining his hands and shifting his gaze to the tree which had suffered her assault.

"Well, I wonder what your father would do, if the alpha is found peeking on his Luna rather than attending to the state policies".

Lucian loved the sound of that, she was declaring herself as his Luna, and he could wait to mark her as his.

They both stared at themselves for a moment and then burst into laughter while she embraced him.

Her head was buried on his shoulder, she was sad that she couldn't become a warrior because as a princess or a woman rather, it was forbidden but seeing Lucian made her all relieved.

"It's okay, blevine" he whispered as though he could read her thoughts.

They were just the perfect couple, understanding each other, and no one would wish to cast an evil eye on them. It was like though they couldn't live without seeing each other for a moment.

This spot was often the place they met, sneaking out of their various castles to meet each other and soon their dreams of being together were coming true as it happens that they were both mates and the auspicious time for their mating had been proclaimed.

"So let's see, what's my gift if I teach you how to shoot a bow and arrow?" He began terminated the hug, picked the bow and arrow, then beckoned on her to stand beside him.

"Well, I haven't decided that but..."

She suddenly shuddered when a bell rang loudly throughout the woods. It was time to say goodbye because that bell declares she was missing.

"Oh no! I have to go!" She mused wearily, and Lucian sighed. He wrapped his hand around her waist and shoved her close to himself as their breath swept across their faces. Those nervous eyes of hers begged him to release her, but her lips read a different thing.

"Lucian... I have to go.... it's time" she muttered staring into his serene gray eyes which explored hers intensively. A smile crept out of his lips and he gave her an ardent kiss that made her demand for more. His breath fanned her face as her heart skipped, it cause her to gasp seductively. She let her lips part opened, to feel his tongue inside her as she mimic his movement. His lips twirled and sucked her tongue passionately.

But then, the bell rang louder, interrupting their romantic moment.

"I have to release you for now dear" he teased in a whisper as he feels her heart almost exploding, he unhanded her, and they said their goodbyes. Her wolf cried inside to stay back but it could only lure choas as she was dear to her pack.

Lucian watched her until she was out of sight, and grinned to himself as his wolf jeered at her. Just when she was gone, three wolves appeared from behind him, they were vicious to behold.

"He's here" The first hollered which made the alpha curl his claws and the three morphed into wolves.

"I need to hasten the mating rituals" he thought to himself.

Chapter 2 A glimpse of you

She was a princess loved by all and harmless in her looks, but one could tell, she only impressed her pack with that character. As a girl from the royal traits, she was locked up in the castle and only admired warriors who trained from her tower.

The only daughter of Alpha Derek, the kind and loving ruler of the silver moon pack.

It got her agonized that someday, she wishes to fight back other packs threatening her, but it might never be as she was adored like a goddess due to her pure blood that was desired by primordial werewolves to strengthen them, live stronger. Hence, it led to her being locked up and not to draw uninvited guest who could sense her scent. She was kept away from the male wolves and made to stay pure which made her unattractive to males until she found Alpha Lucian.

Competitions being held for females to be tested and know which pack they belong to had her excluded. She was limited from so many activities that she craved for, It was like though she was a bird in a cage wanting to be set free.

Most times, sneaking had become a part of her just to train in the woods as a warrior with her soon-to-be mate.

Her beauty and bravery had attracted him to her, they were secret admirers before they got declared as fated mate. She belonged to the silver moon pack, while he belonged to the blue moon pack. The reason she agreed to have a mate was to guarantee her freedom, and leave behind her pack. However, she wondered if that freedom could ever be granted. There was definitely something that her parents were hiding from her, for instance, she always had a dark pearl necklace on which had been forbidden to go off. She wasn't allowed to shape-shift into a wolf, and that pearl happens to compel it.

Furthermore, blevine had no idea how her wolf looks like, but she heard rumors that it was a rare specie that could control demons. She completely loved the sound of that and looked forward to seeing it, perhaps she could be a heroine saving her folks from threats and danger from other packs.

Blevine couldn't wait for the alliance with the blue moon park to come into fruition, acting like a sweet princess to pack would soon be over.

"Where have you been?"

That was hazel speaking, she was an omega kept in charge to monitor blevine like a spy, that it seems she dedicated all her life caring for this girl who gets her in trouble all the time. Luckily, this day, she found her right on time before Alpha Derek her father figure out that she had gone missing.

"What's the alert for? You could have just said I was asleep" blevine snapped prodding to her room and hazel made tearful looks behind her.

Who said she was loved by all? Well, she just wouldn't impress hazel with her pretence and innocent looks, yet she was sweet at heart that it was so difficult to hate her. Only those in the palace knew how wild she could be. Certainly, hazel could testify she was having anger issues due to blevine.

"I think she should have been a male!" Hazel commented running after blevine whose pace couldn't be matched up with.

"Slow down, blevine, the warning bell wasn't for you..."

"Then what was it for?" She mused while halting in her steps which almost got hazel banging her head on her, but it was a good thing she held herself.

"I've got no idea, I was instructed to lock you up in the basement today" hazel pressed on thinking of how to compose her resignation letter because blevine was going to kill her with questions.

"Something's wrong, father never locks me up there except..." She paused and shuddered with fear as her eyes met with hazel, who swallowed hard.

Blevine suddenly derailed from the initial path to her room and made way for her father's chambers. She could see betas and warrior wedging themselves with weapons, they were running towards the walls that acted as a defense for their kingdom.

"Blevine!" Hazel called in a whisper as she pushed her way through the racing guards to get a hold of blevine.

Something was strange, which was the weather, earlier, it was serene but now, it was like though a raging storm was about to befall the silver moon pack which got everyone tensed.

Blevine was almost an inch to where her father's chambers was when all the lights in the kingdom went off.

It wasn't a problem for wolves as they possess an additional layer of tissue called the tapetum lucidum which enables them to see in the dark. Blevine intended to take a step further when she heard dripping sound from a distance, her nose detects it as blood smell which got her eyes widen.

Hazel was still calling out to her, but lost track of blevine as other servants had to take her along with them to prepare weapons for the warriors.

Blevine strides fast to where this dripping sound came from, but something attracted her in the dark.

It was two icy-blue eyes peering at her, they shone like eternity jewel enwrought on snow, those eyes glared at her which made them resemble two liquid-blue pools of flashing fire. She couldn't see the figure of this person except the eyes which got her stucked to them, and when she attempted to draw near, they were gone and the lights came back on!

Everything happened so fast that she felt unrest at the little encounter she had with those blue eyes, the thought of she figuring out where the blood sting was coming from faded as she felt her head throbbing.

Her ears twitched at the whispers she could hear appearing in the background, they were guards running towards the direction she stood. She began to feel all dizzy, her lashes fluttered and her mind void of thoughts except for those peeking eyes; that it made her collapsed.

Chapter 3 Lost truth

The sun was suspended playing as its ray travelled far and took its rest on The Sleeping Beauty's forehead, causing her to whimper.

She fluttered her lashes as her vision was blurry, after a while, they caught sight of an off-white sheet covering her.

Gently, she rose from where she was laid when a serene voice whispered that she should lay back. It was Alpha Derek, he had fear written on his face and a dagger made of ivory behind him.

"Father!" She muttered, sitting upright, and he stared at her with a stern look.

"Do you ever listen?" He questioned, and she shook her head with a fake smile that made him smirk at her.

"What happened earlier?" She asked, and he sighed, not wanting to give a reply, all that matter was that she was safe.

"Father, please, don't you think I deserve to know?" She pleased with teary eyes, but that wasn't going to change his decisions as he was fond of keeping everything about her life a secret from her.

He drew the stood he sat on close to her, took her fingers in his palm and pat them with his left hand.

"I would go get the sorcerer to check you up and your mother would get you prepared for the marriage rituals tonight" he declared which got blevine bewildered.

What was going on? Why wasn't any one giving her an answer and mostly her wedding which was a week away has suddenly being shifted forward?

"There was a war last night, right? That's why you asked I should be locked up in the basement...and father, I saw..."

"Blevine, forget about what you saw, it's just your delusions, just place your thoughts for tonight..." he suddenly cuts as he was frantic with worries. Anything that happened last night had to be erased from her memory because those eyes would only haunt her

With the way he acted, it could clearly be perceived that he was aware of what her puzzling question was, however those questions might never be resolved except she made effort in discovering an answer by herself.

Blevine resigned from ever trying to get answers from him and just nodded obediently. He left her a short while after inspecting that she wasn't hurt, while ordering hazel to stay behind.

Instantly, the timid girl in front of her father faded on sighting hazel.

"I need to see Lucian, he has to explain..."

"I'm sorry I can't, my hands are tied" she stated, giving a frown to the weary girl.

"Seriously? Hazel, I know you got your ears everywhere in the castle, you know what's going on, I would pay you, I promise..."

Hazel swallowed hard, peeped to and fro. That was just a way to get the naive maid through money, and she definitely would pour out everything she knows except the ones which she swore her life not to spit out.

She tiptoe closer to blevine, sat by her side and said;

"It's the demon king"

Blevine narrowed her brows at the pathetic maid who was shivering scared to say those words from her lips.

Undoubtedly, those rumors of the demon king were true, but blevine never thought one existed.

"Was he..."

"I don't know, but I heard some betas saying his shadow was felt in the palace"

No one has ever seen him, but they could feel when he was near. The darkness was his coverage and wherever he was, the lights went off because he was terror itself.

The forest could become deserts, water dries up and souls cries out wherever he was found.

Most times, he was referred as a beast rather than a lycan wolf because of the powers he possesses.

He had no mate, besides, who would want to be a mate to a demon who could only be seen at nights and devours anyone that beholds it.

Blevine held her arms as she felt cold chills run down her spine. Perhaps could she have encountered him last night?

"Well, I heard anyone who beholds him dies immediately, certainly, that must be why we never get to him"

Hearing that word alone made blevine more frighten as she demanded hazel to give a hint of how he might look like but that request was void because he couldn't be described since no one has even set eyes on him.

The distressed princess had to tell herself that those eyes weren't belonging to the demon king, but maybe a peasant who lost its way to the palace.

"That's why father wants to hasten the wedding, to avoid the demon king from interrupting...but why silver moon pack?"

From what blevine could tell, the demon king only seeks after souls from wolves to stay alive, and it could only be that their pack was next.

"He could be defeated, right?"

"The pay" hazel responded, diverting from the initial discussion because she just doesn't want to have nightmares.

The highly anticipating blevine who was so interested in knowing more had to keep that spirit down.

"I will, if you let me speak to Lucian, pleeeese" she stressed with a piteous stare which could melt anyone's heart.

She desired to speak to him to know more about this demon long and how he could be stopped because she just couldn't imagine the souls of the innocent wolves of this pack of hers drained away by the devil.

"You can speak him after the marriage rites down, okay!"

That was hazel's reply to her before collecting the emeralds, which blevine used as a payment.

She stood from the bed and strides to the window, slide the curtains and glance beneath her tower.

Those gray eyes of hers met pups playing around the grasses, having no worries while their mothers watched over them.

Blevine sighed, she couldn't remember if she ever got to be a happy pup, those memories couldn't be remembered as she had always remained like this, neither has she ever shape-shifted to being a wolf.

Her eyes met the king and the sorcerer hopping into the main gate in a haste

"What are you hiding from me" she muttered cupping the dark pearl on her neck while closing back the window.

The sun was suspended playing as its ray travelled far and took its rest on The Sleeping Beauty's forehead, causing her to whimper.
