Chapter One.

The History

Setting: An expensive boutique owned by Mrs. Bond.

"Patricia, you can shop here today and I will give you 25% off, you know to celebrate our partnership that would be signed soon" I said in excitement.

"Oh Maya, were you not informed?" Patricia laughed in a very odd way, I know my friend, she doesn't act without a reason but for this I didn't understand her.

"What do you mean though?" I had to ask her.

"Your daughter in law, Esther right? Well, she signed the deal yesterday and tomorrow we would discuss all the details, didn't you know about it? Well, you have a daring daughter in law if you don't know about this. I mean it is your company and she does things behind your back well, that is just disrespectful. If it were me, I would put her in her place, she only married your son, nothing special, She should never forget her place" Patricia said as she raised her brow and sounded disappointed me.

But she was right, I have been disrespected and I shouldn't allow that, in anything she should have at least told me and she allowed someone as low as Patricia talk to me in this manner, she will get it from me, I promise her this.

"Oh, she did tell me, we would discuss some matters, I guess it should be this and you know we are friends, so she signed it" I said to cover how embarrassed I felt.

I fumed inside me as I knew I had to meet her immediately.

I called my driver immediately after Patricia.

"Mrs. Bond, we reached out to Jason and Sons corporation for the merger in fashion world and it seems like they will agree to our amount, but there are having doubts" One of the board members said.

"Okay, until they agree with us, don't stop pressing the issue" Mrs. Bond replied.

"Okay, I should brief you guys about the new partnership we have with Jewelries co, we will about to launch it in the next fashion show" Mrs. Bond said as she stood up to the projector.

The board room door suddenly opened in the wildest way, it took everyone by shock.

It could only mean one thing Mrs. Bond is here. The dramatic queen of the company is here. It was rumored that her heels are always specially made and there were made of pure glass, the staff often thought it was just a bad rumor that the staff made up, since she was always tagged as the old witch. No one likes it when she is around.

Her glassy heel sounded so distinct as the board room is so quiet, if I pin dropped everyone would notice.

She walked straight to her daughter in law, she never accepted her, she never loved her or treated her as a human, she often referred her as a mere coincidence, she often said her son could have made better choices than this.

She walked to her daughter in law and slammed the file in her hands, she slammed it on the table the impact was so much that the bottle water placed on the table on fell, some of the board members gasped in fear.

"Who approved this contract?" Who approved this thirty million dollars project?" She asked and the board members all replied "Mrs. Bond did, ma'am"

"OH! It is the doing of my Precious Daughter in law who is so blessed with all my riches and my influence right?" She said and fear gripped Esther immediately

"And who told you, you can do that?" Who told you, you had enough to make decisions in my own company! WHO ON EARTH GAVE YOU THE RIGHT! She yelled and the board members were scared even for Esther.

She sighed as she adjusted her hair and looked Esther straight in her eyes.

"ESTHER! Listen to me, just because you married my son, doesn't mean my heart has grown fondly of you and if you think just because you are now the one of the major shareholders of my company, you can make decisions without informing me?" You are wrong. my heart will learn to love you? You are thinking wrong, I will NEVER ACCEPT YOU!"

Her mother in law said slamming the files again on the table before leaving the board room,

the board of directors all stared and watched. She did it before and now she is doing it again.

"Okay, we would move this meeting to another day Linda? Meet me in my office" Mrs. Maya Bond said as she left

"This is just wrong, why does Mrs. Bond treat her daughter in Law like that? Why does she embarrass her and not give her chance?" One of the staff members asked as they were always confused as to why Mrs. Bond treated her Son's wife that way.

"Well, tonight at the team bonding and relaxation night, I will tell you all about it" Gerald, the oldest staff replied.

'We have heard rumors about how badly Mrs. Bond treat her daughter in law and it has been that way since the very first day that they met'

Setting: Mrs Maya Bond office

Esther walks in her office, Mrs. Bond on her sit her office is painted in light blue color, a huge office with a big window view and a mini set placed aside that can be used for a meeting, Her in law isn't a huge fan of large halls for meetings but she is one for attention.

Mrs. Bond is having in meeting and as soon as she saw her, she called off the meeting.

"Esther, you should know your place in this company, why did you sign the deal with Mrs. Patricia?"

"It was a joint decision between Alex and I, we previewed her documents and we gave her a chance"Esther replied.

"A chance?" Mrs. Bond yelled.

"What do you mean by A CHANCE?" Mrs. Bond yelled and it was so loud that everyone heard in that hall.

"Both, my husband and i felt since you are friends with miss Patricia and since they are so many benefits that can be gained and it would be a nice and profitable deal, we signed it at once. We did plan to tell you but he said we should hold on and wait till today before telling you anything." Esther said as she looked at her mother in law.

"FELT? That is what you are going with, you both FELT?

If i ran my company, oh wait.

If my late husband and I had ran our company on feelings do you think we would have have where we are today?! You just acted based of what you thought and not on actual things, did you know her company once went bankrupt or the frauds that her company has been accused of? Do you know how much it would cost to get rid of their bad image or even to make sure that they make us go bankrupt? Did you know any better?

I should have never allowed my son to get married to you, no I should have never allowed you to be his secretary or be his girlfriend, since the day i saw you i knew you were nothing but bad luck, trouble and everything that should be avoided, How on earth did my son end up with you.

"FELT," No proper research, no proper investigation, you didn't ask questions.

And to think she had to tell me her self in the most horrible way, Patricia to someone like me? Impossible.

"What do you have to say about this? Tell me? Mrs Bond asked her daughter in law Esther.

"We actually, I mean Alex and I did some research and we think we can maneuver around all her bad habits and make it work" She replied and her mother in law scoffed at the attempt to give her an explanation, she shooked her head in frustration

"You can not even own up to it yourself right? She said as she sat on her chair and crossed her legs

you had to bring in my son who is currently on a business trip, for our sake, for the company sakeyou cannot own up to your own actions, this is the same reason why i never liked you ever since the day i met you, not only can you not stand up for yourself but now you will involve my only son into your drama? A simple deal that you could have waited for me to check!! What is this? an high school where you asked to defend your project and you can't, Oh my God. Esther use your Head, i should have never allowed my son to marry you, all you are doing is just causing a nuisance and being a burden to me, and being a burden to everyone else.

'This has been the way you are been, ever since! Listen to me, since you didn't involve me in the signing or even try to tell me before hand, you can handle everything your self.

And I will need full reports, and I must be involved in every little thing, and every little detail, Please get out of my office." Mrs Bond yelled as she sent Esther out of her room.

"Theresa!" Mrs Bond yelled her assistants name.

"Yes ma'am you called. Confirm my invitation to the next masked party by the Santos and get me lunch and also make that you follow up on that deal that just got signed by Esther, she won't be the end of m, I don't know why she can't be like you, I don't know why she can't make me proud or understand me like you do!" Mrs Bond sighed.

Theresa leaves the office and calls Mr. Bond.

"Good afternoon sir, how are you? Its Theresa" She said.

"It is a code red sir, you should return from the trip as soon as possible sir" Theresa said and she hanged up immediately and went to do her actual Job.

Esther's Bond point of view

I got to my office and I went straight to my chair and I sighed.

I covered my head for a minute.

I suddenly had a migraine and I needed to get rid of it fast.

I opened my draw that is beside me and I brought out my calm cookies, as the name implies they calm me down.

It is only one in the afternoon and I am suddenly tired of the whole day.

Mother in law is being her usual self, you seemed shocked.

Yeah that is how she is to everyone, and to me it is worse.

I checked the files and the working and I couldn't concentrate, I was tempted to call my husband, which is her son but why would I disturb him and why should I make him all worried by telling him what went down between his mum and I, any man would go crazy about it but not my Alex at least.

You might be wondering why my mother in law is treating me that way or why she is always yelling and being way to me, you might be thinking "is she doing that because her son isnt around and why am I not doing anything about it, why am i not saying anything, why am I being quiet about all this? I understand the agitation and I understand the rage and you might thinking who is she? Why is acting dumb and not reacting, she is being soft and too soft for me.

But wait, hold your horses you will find out all about it soon.

I miss my husband, if he was around she definitely would not treat me this way.

Who is Alex.

Alex's Point Of View.

Hi, my name is Alex, I am a billionaire and the Chief Executive Officer of Bond Empire.

Well, I am exactly twenty-five. You might be surprised as to how it is that I am a billionaire and this young.

Well, let's say my grandfather left a fortune to my father and he did the same to me, at the age of twenty-five. Of course, in the family of Bond, the age of twenty_five, is the age of being a grown up, so they say.

Anyway, I am single and not ready to find a suitor for now. In all honesty, I really like single life.

It's all business, enjoying life and you know being yourself.

And that's a wrap, Daniel, the television director, said. This is the segment of Tea and Talk with Tess. It's one of the most popular television shows, and the host is extremely beautiful. She is married though, happily married with her twins and her supportive and blessed partner. I just feel they were made and picked for each other.

That aside, the little thing I just did there, was just one out of the million things I have to do today.

"We are so glad you honoured our late invitation", Daniel said.

"For a television show like this, I am also honoured" I replied to him as I went back to my phone and I walked fast, if I spend a little too long, boy it will be hectic.

"Sir Alex, we have a board meeting in less than forty-five minutes, the car is ready, please wear your mask and the glasses, some fans are outside", Louis, my assistant said, as he walked up to me.

I took them and I wore them.

"Alright, wait? The old folks?" I asked Louis as I paused and sighed.

"Yes Sir Alex, the old folks" He eplied and I grumbled.

As soon as I left the meeting, these old folks didn't know the business world was changing and so was the fashion label. Sometimes I wish they would understand, but I know they don't want to change easily, they are so many Sanguines among them.

I was just leaving the meeting door and I was about to enter the elevator to my office. It's the last floor out of the sixteen floors. We made it possible and achievable to have all our sectors in the same building. I am talking about entertainment, fashion and the delivery segment, one of the biggest in the country.

It's just one of the perks of being a billionaire, and yes, I like the title a lot.

The door was about to close and a lady in her mid twenties came running and asked if I held the door, which i did.

"I am so sorry" she said, panting and exhausted.

"It's not a bother" i replied her.

I doubt she knows that this is a private elevator for shareholders only. Hold up. I didn't make it a rule. My father did, he in quote "didn't like mixing", another old rule I would abolish soon.

She had her files looking scattered, I was forced to have a conversation with her.

She knelt down to adjust her hair and arrange her files and I got a glimpse of her name.

"Esther, her name is Esther. I really wanted to start a conversation. I felt drawn to her. And i think it is mainly because of the fact that she didn't know who I was, I didnt my face cap or mask on and she wasn't bothered.

She is applying for a marketing job. I would really want to see her get employed. That's if they give her a chance.

Esther Point Of View

Today will be a new day, I said as the alarm woke me up. Boy did I jump up.

I have an important interview today.

I stretched, went to the kitchen and I saw Lisa already drinking her morning coffee. She is employed and i am not, at least for now.

At seven pm in the evening last night, Bond's Empire, one of the most popular companies in the country, announced it's search for new employees. They do this periodically. Only the employees know the cheat code of this.

Lisa is my best friend. She works at a television station a few miles away, she has her own car and, for someone at twenty-five, she is successful to me. She works as a manager at Tea and Talk with Tess.

"Get ready, you don't want to be late for the interview, do you?" Lisa said as she went to the dining seat." It's just a set of a table and two chairs.

"Yes ma'am" I said as I sang to the bathroom.

Lisa had already prepared the toast, I came out of the bathroom and went straight to dress up and i ate.

This took me roughly thirty minutes and the interview was scheduled for ten am.

Lisa drove me straight there and we had some traffic along the way but thankfully i got there a nine thirty, i rushed to the elevator.

Phew, i sighed relief as he stepped out of the elevator. I was so embarrassed at the fact that i was once again clumsy and messy in front of a dashing man like that, in my defense, actually admiring his looks. I was so shy when i saw him.

And i couldn't believe it. I am twenty-two years old.

A fresh graduate who has faced a lot of professors and some trashy princes and bratty princesses, but all of a sudden, a man in printed red sleeves, black trousers and a rolex.. I will make sure I find out who he is.

I was brought back by the elevation sound. I adjusted my black skirt and white top. I also made sure my files were complete and then, i walked to the waiting room. You might be wondering how I knew where the waiting room for those who are to be interviewed is. Yeah, this is my second time applying here. The first time, i was a little bit unprepared, but today will be different.
