A Twist Of Fate: Love Awakens Him

Author: : Cats Meow
Genre: Romance
Corinne was set up to marry Julian, who had been reduced to a vegetative state following a tragic car accident. Yet, on their wedding day, fate intervened in a most unexpected manner. Julian suddenly stirred from his slumber, demanding an annulment. Corinne, though taken aback, wasted no time in seizing the opportunity. "Sure, Julian, but not without a hefty sum - fifty million, to be exact!" Julian acquiesced without hesitation. "Deal!" Initially, Julian harbored a disdainful view of Corinne, deeming her a mercenary soul who had bartered her integrity for wealth. But as time passed, his perception began to shift. When Corinne found herself disillusioned with him, Julian embarked on a quest to win back her affections. "Honey, I messed up big time. I'm truly sorry," he confessed, his voice laced with remorse.

Chapter 1 Being Sold

"No... Please, let me go," Corinne Gibson whispered, her voice shaking in the dim light of the presidential suite.

The man's oppressive presence enveloped her, sending shivers of fear through her body as tears filled her eyes.

In the shadowy room, his figure towered over her, his large hands clenching her wrists firmly. His deep, rough voice assured her, saying, "Don't worry. I'll marry you."

"Ah!"

A sharp pain overwhelmed Corinne, tears cascading down her cheeks.

She had just returned from overseas when her father's business suddenly ran into severe trouble. Her father became gravely ill and was rushed to the ICU, pushing their family business to the edge of collapse.

To protect her father and the business he had built over many years, she frequently went to social events, hoping to secure loans from influential people.

This evening, she learned that a prominent business leader was hosting a function, and she attended with the hope of getting support.

However, after accepting a glass of wine from someone, she became disoriented, ended up in a stranger's room, and was pulled onto a bed.

As the initial pain subsided, a strange numbness turned into pleasure, drawing Corinne's mind back. She strained to open her eyes to see the man whom she lost her virginity to.

But the room was too dark.

She could not see clearly, only hearing his deep, resonant voice.

"Wait for me to return and marry you."

When Corinne woke up again, the room was empty except for herself.

Her clothes lay in disarray on the floor.

With a wince, Corinne struggled to sit up and swung her legs out of bed, only to unexpectedly step on something hard.

She lifted it and discovered a necklace engraved with the letters "JS."

It belonged to that man.

Tears welled up in Corinne's eyes as anger surged within her. She wanted to hurl the necklace out of the window, but instead, she gripped it tightly and put it around her neck.

A month later

"Miss Gibson, please review this contract. The three hundred million will be transferred in batches. The first fifty million has already been sent to your uncle's account. The remaining amount will be transferred once you marry my son and have a child," said a calm voice.

Corinne looked with surprise at the poised, sophisticated woman before her.

Today, her uncle handed her an address, instructing her to go there and ask for a loan.

To marry this woman's son? To have his child?

And fifty million dollars?

What was happening?

It soon became clear to her.

Obviously, her uncle had sold her for a hefty sum of three hundred million dollars.

A chilling realization dawned on her, and she asked, "Excuse me, who is your son?"

Zoey lowered her gaze slightly before answering, "Julian Scott."

At the mention of that name, Corinne felt a wave of dizziness, and her breath caught.

Just two weeks earlier, news broke that Julian Scott, the heir to the prestigious Scott family, was in a coma following a car accident.

Lately, there had been rumors that the Scott family was looking for a suitable bride for him. But who would agree to marry a man on his deathbed?

Corinne quickly rose, bowing slightly. "I'm sorry, there seems to be a misunderstanding. I came here for a loan, not for marriage."

Zoey regarded her with sadness, then offered a gentle smile. "That's alright. Our family does not coerce anyone. However, I assure you, marrying into our family means being looked after for life."

Corinne looked at Zoey appreciatively.

Zoey turned to the butler and said, "Please show Miss Gibson out."

"Yes, ma'am."

Corinne expressed her gratitude to Zoey, and the butler, a middle-aged man, escorted her outside.

As they exited, Corinne spotted a familiar figure in a corner of the garden.

It was her boyfriend, Mathew Scott.

Overwhelmed with happiness, Corinne hurried towards him.

Right then, Mathew was on the phone, wearing a satisfied grin. "Robert, Zoey's really satisfied with Corinne. You'll see the cash in your account real soon. Congratulations!"

After catching what the guy on the phone said, Mathew couldn't help but burst into laughter. "Yes, that's right! We're all like family. I'll make sure to look after Rosalie in the future."

Then, his tone became more grave. "Be sure to keep a tight hold on Corinne's father. He cannot wake up. If he does, it could destroy everything. We need the shareholders' meeting to be perfect."

Corinne hadn't seen Mathew in several days and didn't want to disturb his phone call, but as she approached, she overheard the most dreadful words she had ever heard.

Hearing these words herself, Corinne felt a constriction in her throat, and her vision darkened.

Wait, so her uncle and Mathew planned this whole thing?

Were they behind the company's financial issues and even her father's illness?

Had her boyfriend, whom she thought loved her, conspired against her with her cousin?

Chapter 2 A Change Of Heart

Corinne suppressed the turmoil within her and discreetly pressed the record button on her phone.

The longer she listened, the tighter her fists became, her nails piercing her skin.

She was tempted to confront Mathew now, but she knew that showing her anger prematurely wouldn't help.

A sudden idea sparked in her mind, and her gaze became focused.

She slipped back into the main villa.

Inside, Zoey was enjoying a cup of coffee.

Seeing Corinne out of breath, Zoey looked up in surprise.

Taking a moment to catch her breath, Corinne said, "Mrs. Scott, I've reconsidered. I agree to marry your son. However, could you possibly recall the fifty million you've already disbursed?"

"Certainly," Zoey responded with a slight smile.

The Scott family acted quickly. Within three hours, Corinne was holding the marriage certificate.

As Corinne stared at it, a flood of thoughts overwhelmed her. Just then, her phone rang.

Corinne saw the caller ID, and her expression turned frosty.

The moment she answered, the voice on the other end exclaimed, "Corinne, what's happening? Why did the Scott family reclaim the fifty million?"

"Huh." Corinne snorted. "Uncle, I'm curious about what was on your mind when you sold me for three hundred million."

Robert Gibson, Corinne's uncle, hesitated, then quickly responded, "Corinne, I did it for you, for the company. I had no ulterior motives. It was wrong not to tell you. I've been tormented by guilt, wishing I could sacrifice myself for your father."

Corinne nearly laughed in disbelief at Robert's audacity.

She retorted coldly, "You're connected to my father's grave illness, aren't you? I have proof and plan to take it to the authorities."

Robert's breathing quickened. How did she find out?

Yet he still attempted to justify himself. "Corinne, what are you talking about? You've misunderstood me."

Corinne scoffed and gritted her teeth. "Enough! I see right through you. You aim to take control at the shareholders' meeting and pocket the proceeds from selling me off? Your plan couldn't be more transparent. However, you're destined to fail. I'll safeguard both the money and Gibson Group from your clutches. You won't succeed in getting anything!"

"Corinne, you bitch! Accusing me falsely, you'll suffer terribly for this." Robert's angry voice came through the phone.

Realizing he had dropped all pretenses, Corinne ended the call with a sharp click.

After that, she quickly got her father's reliable helper to hand over the audio recording.

While this confirmed that Robert and Mathew were after Gibson Group's assets and betrayed her, it didn't directly tie them to her father's illness. This evidence would give her some breathing room, but she needed a more solid plan.

Feeling the weight of her situation, she massaged her temples and wrapped her arms around herself.

Before she knew it, night had crept in unnoticed.

A maid came in with sleepwear and a bowl of soup. "Ma'am, this is a fertility-enhancing soup that your mother-in-law ordered especially for you."

Corinne frowned slightly at the overly revealing sleepwear and the dark soup.

Before she could protest, the maid insisted she change.

Under the watchful eyes of the maid, Corinne reluctantly slipped into the sleepwear and consumed the soup, then was ushered into the bedroom.

"Go on. We've administered special medicine to Mr. Scott. It's best to be intimate with him sooner rather than later."

As Corinne entered the room, her eyes settled on the distant bed.

There lay a man dressed in a white shirt and black pants, his features remarkably handsome under the dim light, marked by a sharp, angular jawline. Yet, he was in a vegetative state.

Corinne hadn't expected the renowned heir of the esteemed Scott family to be not only well-connected but also strikingly attractive. It was such a shame that he was now unresponsive.

Had it not been for his condition, she likely would never have had the opportunity to approach him.

At this moment, Corinne felt an intense heat spreading throughout her body.

Clearly, the soup was anything but ordinary.

Remembering what the maid had said, and considering the three hundred million, Corinne braced herself and took a few steps towards the bed.

The man's normally impeccable face was now tinged with red, evidently affected by the same potent medicine.

Corinne's heart raced, and the warmth inside her rose in waves.

She took deep breaths, her eyelashes fluttering as she gazed at the man. "I'm sorry, I have to do this. You won't feel anything... But still, I'm sorry!"

With that, Corinne cautiously climbed onto the bed and positioned herself over the man. Their body heat merged instantly.

She then awkwardly unbuttoned his shirt, her fingers clumsy and clearly unpracticed.

It took her over ten minutes, but she eventually opened his shirt.

His well-defined body, with broad shoulders, a slim waist, and eight-pack abs, made Corinne's eyes widen in surprise, fueling her inner passion.

Gulping, she murmured, "I'm about to start, Mr. Scott. Please be prepared."

Having said that, Corinne could no longer pause to admire his physique.

The overwhelming desire inside her was ready to take over. Without further delay, she pulled down his trousers, closed her eyes, and lowered herself onto him.

Chapter 3 This Is Your Wife

The sharp pain forced a scream from Corinne, soaking her in sweat.

She shook uncontrollably.

As she geared up to push herself up and proceed, she locked her gaze with a pair of chilling, dark eyes.

Corinne's heart skipped a beat. "You..."

The man gulped, his intense gaze pinned on her tousled appearance.

His face remained stern, while his lips barely moved. "Get off me."

His voice was deep and hoarse.

Corinne was caught off guard by Julian waking up.

Yet, she had no moment to reflect. A fierce longing surged within her, overwhelming her senses.

Her awareness dimmed, succumbing to primal urges.

Her hands moved on their own, even tweaking his chest.

Julian's face twisted in anger, cursing under his breath.

This woman not only invaded his bed but also ignored his command.

"I told you to get off!" His tone brimmed with raw anger.

Corinne's eyes welled up with fear, yet she defiantly pressed her lips to his neck, whimpering, "I'm sorry, I...I can't help it..."

She then kissed his cheek.

Torn between her remorse and boldness, Julian felt his anger flare anew.

After lying in bed for so long, he found it hard to shove her off.

When he was about to do something, Corinne's super light, almost see-through dress stuck to him.

He gulped, a spark of desire in his gaze.

"Get off!" Julian clenched his teeth.

Corinne, tearful and desperate, pleaded, "I'm drugged. I can't control myself..."

As they struggled, they became more intertwined.

The drug coursing through Julian's veins finally peaked, eliciting a stifled moan from him. Shortly after, his expression turned ashen.

A blush crept over Corinne's face as she grasped what had occurred.

Enraged, Julian shoved her aside and slammed the security alarm by the bed. Suddenly, the villa echoed with a loud, piercing alarm.

As the alarm screamed, the door was flung open with a crash.

A flood of black-suited bodyguards poured in.

Corinne quickly grabbed her clothes to cover up.

Seeing Julian alert, the bodyguards paused in shock, uncertain of their next move.

With a frosty look, Julian ordered, "Arrest this woman who climbed into my bed!"

Corinne stood dumbfounded.

"Sir, this is your wife. We can't arrest her," the chief bodyguard said hastily.

Julian's brows furrowed deeply, his tone growing even colder. "What did you say?"

The bodyguard responded respectfully, "Sir, you might not be aware, but she is the wife your mother chose for you while you were incapacitated, to carry on the family lineage."

Julian's expression grew more icy, and he fixed his eyes on Corinne.

For the first time, Corinne felt the full intensity of someone's stare, as if he could see right through her.

"Wife? Carrying on the family lineage?" Julian uttered disdainfully, his expression turning stormy. "Ridiculous!"

Corinne also thought it ridiculous. Her husband, who was not expected to recover, had not only regained consciousness but also displayed a fierce temper. He appeared far from his deathbed.

Julian's tone was icy as he faced Corinne. "We're getting divorced tomorrow."

Corinne tightened her grip, remembering Zoey's advice. "Perhaps you should discuss this with your mother. I'm not in a position to decide."

"Huh? You seemed quite capable of taking charge just now. What? Reluctant to part with the wealth of my family?" Julian mocked her bitterly.
