Olivia paused and look straight into his eyes, "Some day, you are going to crawl on your knees, begging to have me back, this is a promise" She stated in a concise and confident way without minicing her threat filled words. Gotten her heart broken and sacked from work on the same day, Olivia was trying so hard to hold on tightly to the broken fragment of her life the day had offered her when she got a call that her mother was rushed to the hospital and was further diagnose with stage two Ovarian Cancer. How will she navigate through all this pain all alone?

Chapter 1 Olivia Campbell

She slowly raised her head from the chair she had fallen asleep on, her eyes blurring as she pushed them apart, her throat sore and her joints weak and weary.

Looking around the dark hall that had different colors of flashy light bouncing all over the place, it took the confused Olivia some seconds, before she remembered where she was.

She used both of her hands to support her head as she tried sitting properly upright, her head banging loudly in pain with every move she made, and the music blaring from speakers placed at strategic corners of the club, coupled with the cheers and jeers from the clubbers were not helping the situation at all.

Sweeping her eyes through the table in front of her and seeing the empty bottles of alcoholic substances with disposable cups that were littered on them brought back flashes of the event that happened before she passed out.

Seeing that she was a bit stable, "Can I help you with anything ma'am" A young chap lad, probably in his early twenties asked, a cheerful smile on his face as he looked up at Olivia from where he was standing at the base of stairs leading to the first table of the VIP section where she was seated?

"No, I... I am fine" Olivia stammered, her eyes all over the place, "Where is Mia?" She asked.

"I would be right around the corner ma'am, if you need anything don't hesitate to reach out to me" He replied, ignoring Olivia's question, a smile still on his face.

Before leaving, he beckoned to one of the girls walking around the club holding silver trays filled with liquor shots to clear the mess on the table Oliver was on.

As the girl carried out what she was instructed to do, Olivia sluggishly picked up her back purse that probably fell off her lap when she passed out. She rummaged through the lip gloss, a chocolate bar, a face towel, and other girlie things to get her phone.

Olivia dialed Mia's number countless times as her eyes restlessly searched through the happy crowd, vibing to the loud music.

"Damien" She whispered, "How can I forget I came out with him?" She asked tiredly as she started putting a call through to him, but she also got no response from him.

Cursing under her breath on why her boyfriend and her best friend dragged her out of her house on this hot Friday night, until to ended up ghosting her, Olivia allowed her head freely fall on her laps that were tightly closed together, and she remained in that position for a while, blaming herself for giving in to their plans.

When the girl who was clearing her table came back to pick up the remaining things left, "Sorry, please can you excuse me for a minute?" Olivia asked, raising her head.

"Is there any problem ma'am?" The girl asked, moving her gaze from the empty drink bottle she was about to put on her tray to Olivia.

"There is none, I just wanted to ask you if by any chance you saw the people I was hanging out with around?"

"Uhm... the last time I caught sight of them on the dance floor ma'am" the girl replied and went straight back to what she was doing, leaving a bewildered look on Olivia's face.

"On the dance floor? Were they both intoxicated?" Olivia questioned herself as she brewed on the reasons why Damien and Mia would hit the dance floor alone with her.

"Passing out isn't an excuse for them to leave me" She went on when one of the voices in her head was trying to make excuses for them.

"I mean, why on earth were they dancing together?" Olivia went on to ask, getting more confused by the situation as each second passed by, "Could it be that they left after exhausting their strength on the dance floor, forgetting me?"

After waiting for a while to see if they would pop out from any corner of the club, and they didn't, seeing that it was past midnight already, Olivia decided to go home and try to reach out to them the following morning.

As she stood up to take her leave, her eyes swirled and her weary knees gave way, making her collapse back on the soft cushion tiredly.

She wiped her eyes with a palm for a while, then moved on to supporting her head with her hand as she felt an exploding pain as if something were driving into her brain, with the pain getting worse as she tried standing up, making it feel like her head was going to fall off from her body at any point.

Olivia sat back down for a longer while before trying to get on her feet again. She still felt the sharp piercing pain at one side of her head, but it wasn't as bad as the first that sent her crashing back to her seat.

As she pushed through the sweaty crowd that were throwing their hands up in the air and swaying their hips tiredly to the rhyme of the music, jeering excitedly, and as loud as they could with some sucking different liquors directly from the bottles like their lives depended on it

And some were so intoxicated that they sprayed out the drinks from their mouth in the form of a shower, Olivia suddenly had a pressing urge to use the restroom.

She swirled around immediately and started heading back into the club in the direction she was coming from, but instead of taking the mini stairs that led to the VIP section, she took the corridor aside it and traced her way to where the female restroom was located.

When she got into the hallway, she met a waitress and asked for directions to the restroom, which the waitress pointed out to her. As she headed toward the direction she was shown in hasty steps, Olivia started hearing soft giggles that were accompanied by shrieking moaning sounds from the direction she was headed.

She laughed quietly to herself, knowing that it was normal practice to see people making out in the restroom of places like this.

Not wanting to hold back from using the restroom until she gets home because of what was likely going on in there currently, Olivia quickly rehearses a short apology speech she was going to say to whoever was having another level of fun in there before moving on to do her business.

She knew being able to quickly dish out apologies in a drinking space like this, not minding whether you are mistaken or not was a virtue everyone just had because getting on a drunken person's toe was like signing a fight warrant, a fight will always break out.

And she knew making out shamelessly in a public toilet is one of the side effects of being high and horny at the same time without being able to control yourself.

As she pushed the large wooden door of the bathroom with the moaning sound now louder than ever, ready to pour out a heartfelt apology, the sight she saw behind the door was one she had never thought of, throwing her unbalanced, making her mouth fall apart in shock and her eyes shine in horror.

Chapter 2 A Black Night For Her

"Damien" She called questionably with a shaky voice, "Mia" Olivia went on, her eyes moving from one person to the other.

As she stood watching them in the awkward position they were in, her mind was quick to take her back to when she was walking down the hallway, laughing sheepishly to herself about the giggles and soft moans she was hearing, ignorantly thinking that it was one of the numerous drunk clubbers that had dragged in a stripper into the restroom for a quickie.

Little did she know that the stripper was her best friend Mia, because she was stripped naked with only her net bra falling loosely from her hand, and the clubber, on the other hand, was her boyfriend Damien, who was also drunk, she could see it from his sleepy eyes.

His trousers were well past his knees and his white condom boxer gripping tightly to his ass, she could still see his hardness through it thought he had hurriedly taken it in when she walked in.

She wasn't so dumb not to know that this act wasn't borne out of being drunk, it looked like a deliberate action.

"Olivia" Damien tried speaking, his voice was calm and steady, it always was, no matter the kind of tense situation he was in and Olivia could vividly remember that was one of his traits that held her captive.

While Mia, on the other hand, did not try to say a word, she turned her back to them, facing the mirror as she dressed herself back.

"So, this is it," Olivia said, not knowing exactly what that statement meant, but that was the only word that her shocked shrieked tongue could form.

"I swear that this isn't what you think it is" Damien went on to say, as he struggled to pull back his jeans trousers to his waist and buckle his belt.

"Of course not" She replied sarcastically, with no intention of using sarcasm, but the words just kept flowing out as her sense of reasoning was blurred by the pain that was unexpectedly thrown at her.

Her eyes turned red and watering, with her voice still very much shaky and her entire body trembling, "I honestly don't know what I am still doing here, watching this...this" She Stammered as fresh tears burst out of her eyes.

"Good luck with this" Olivia quickly added with her voice choked with grief before running out of the restroom, completely abandoning the mission that brought her there in the first place.

"Olivia" Damien called, wanting to run after her when Mia grabbed him by his arm, holding him back.

"Let her go" She said in a deep gritty voice that effortlessly carried resentment and mercilessness, it was overly obvious that she was indifferent about everything that was going on, and she wasn't hiding that fact.

"Shit!" Damien exclaimed, pulling away from her grasp, stamping his right foot hard on the tiled bathroom floor, while Mia looked on at him speechlessly as she resumed dressing.

"I told you this was all a bad idea, but you wouldn't listen," He lamented bitterly, letting out a deep sigh laden with frustration.

"And I told you we had to make things snappy and get back to her before she wakes up, but you kept going on and on, wanting more of me" Mia replied, traces of laughter in her voice.

***

Olivia ran outside the club nonstop, her vision clouded by the tears that were pouring out, rolling freely down her cheeks.

She stopped running when she got outside the club to catch her breath and get some more time for herself to pour out her pains through her tears.

Collapsing under a tree just in front of the club building, Olivia grabbed the chest side of the red Satin dinner gown she was putting on, squeezing it endlessly as she sobbed harder.

At this point, she was already wishing she had not gone back to the club toilet to free her bladder, she was wishing she had stayed home from the beginning of everything.

She would rather not come out that night, it was Mia who forced her into accepting Damien's request to go clubbing with him.

If she had known it was their plan all along to hang out with her, it probably wouldn't have been so suspicious and even to get her drunk so they could have time to steal away to the restroom to do whatever it is that they were doing, she wouldn't have budgeted to Mia's plea.

"Why didn't they just go on and have the outing without involving me?" Olivia asked herself in between tears, still squeezing her dress.

"It would have been better if they kept what they had going on to themselves without involving me and then going behind my back again" She went on to say.

The most hurtful part of the ill situation she had found herself in was the fact that she had never suspected a thing between them, not even for a minute.

Although Mia continuously said sweet words about Damien-which was obviously not a surprising thing because Damien was the kind of guy people referred to as every girl's dream man- but in a way that only sounded like she was admiring him and also wanted someone like that for herself, not know she had other interior motive going on.

Olivia wiped her face and got back on her feet as she was beginning to attract attention from people who were streaming in and out of the club, "I cannot be out here weeping like a child over a man who is probably having another hot round of sex presently" She said to herself tearfully as she made to find her way back home.

Chapter 3 Hell Of A Grumpy Weekend

The weekend was one hell of a grumpy ride for Olivia, filled with a roller coaster of emotions for her. She felt that she wouldn't be able to make it past the weekend without losing her sanity and to make matters worse, time decided to creep in.

With every second going slower than normal and the hours like it was never going to come. Olivia had locked herself up in her room since the night she returned home devastated from the club.

Her mother, Rose, came in at several points each day to check up on her and fill her ears with warm words that may encourage her to get up from her bed and move on with her life.

But it was nearly impossible, if not impossible to just bounce back to her life within two days of meeting a dead end in her two-year relationship.

Although she wanted to move on and pass it as quickly as possible, her fragile heart wasn't even ready to accept the harsh reality of things let alone want to move on from it.

Despite the cruel and torturous weekend she was having, Olivia was relatively looking forward to Monday.

Not understand if she was longingly expecting to go back to work as a means of distracting herself since she had a crippled social life, or if she was earnestly desiring the day so she can see Mia who hasn't given her a call since Friday night, Mathilda was nevertheless grateful that the day was finally here.

She stretched to a full length on her bed, rubbing the little amount of sleepiness that was left before standing up from her bed to go to the window.

That was her morning routine, going to the window side to get a dose of the warm rays of the sun that peep through the sheet of bright clouds.

She pushed away the wraps of candies that were on the floor as she made her way to her window, Candies were her go-to anytime she was feeling overwhelmed and downcasted.

While most people use Alcohol to kick past their depressing feelings, Oliver uses candies and chocolate. She locks herself up in her room and feasts on them until her stomach aches, and that was precisely how she spent the weekend.

Olivia pushed open the windows and stuck her head outside, taking in a deep breath, and slowly letting it out. The morning air was always fresh, it always served as some kind of therapy for her soul, but this morning air was a bit different.

It felt more fresh and intoxicating to her, pushing through all the anxious nerves in her body to calm her down. She didn't know if it was because she had been stuck in her bed for the past two days, unable to stand by the window side, or if it was because of the bottled-up pain in her heart that made the morning air hit her differently.

As she stood by the window, taking in the air that reeked of the flowers planted around the hedges of the house, Olivia could not help but think about what work was going to be like.

She spent the whole weekend anticipating it, but she failed to think about what it was going to be like with Mia and Damien at loggerheads with her.

Mere thinking of it brought a fresh blow of pain to her heart, piercing through her soul mercilessly, like she didn't deserve to be happy.

Her mind began making up scenarios about how cool they would be with each other, how they probably go on with what they were doing when she left the bathroom and how they most likely wouldn't be in any type of pain.

Olivia thought the situation was rather an unfair one where only she had to take a share of the pain. The other voice in her head tried to remind her of guilt, that they would have the larger share of that.

But judging from Mia's demeanor that night, she couldn't bring herself to believe that Mia could ever feel anything like guilt.

As for Damien, his voice was already filled with regrets that night as he called out to her, but Olivia felt he wasn't regretting cheating on her and hurting her feelings, but regretting the fact that she got to find out the way she did and that is the only thing he also would probably feel guilty of.

"Aren't you going to work today?" Rose asked, popping her head halfway into her room.

"Trying to put my dissected soul together, mum" Olivia replied, turning around to meet eyes with Rose.

"And how long are you going to do that?" Rose questioned further, knotting her brows. "It is past Seven am," she added.

"Oh my!" Olivia exclaimed, quickly shifting her gaze to glance at the small table, face clicking sitting on her bedside cupboard. "I completely lost track of time."

"Brooding about something that happened over the weekend" Rose replied.

"It is not just something Mum, stopping making what was my entire world sound so irrelevant," Olivia replied, annoyed.

"I am not having this conversation with you this morning, you should get dressed for now," Rose said before pulling out of the room and shutting the door quietly behind her.

"This isn't just a random thing, this is my world falling flat" Olivia muttered to herself as tears trickled effortlessly down her face.

She shut her eyes tight for a moment, biting her lips in the process as she fought back from sobbing hard on such a bright Monday morning, as much as she wanted to stay back home currently and dob herself to sleep just like the other days, she was also trying to remind herself that her mental health was at stake.

After going back to the window to take a series of more deep breaths of the fresh morning air to detoxify her system of the toxicity that was trying to creep in, Olivia stormed into the bathroom to take a quick shower, dress up in a simple black corporate gown that she always set aside fit emergency like the one she was in, apply a little makeup on her face hide the dark circles around her eyes that had popped out because of the emotional stress and lack of sleep she was dealing with, Olivia was finally set for work.
