Chapter 1 THE VAUGHN LEGACY.

CHAPTER 1

"Harper, you'll be late for work! I'm off to school" Ryan screamed, knocking on her door.

He glared at the door as if he could see her through it. He was dressed in a black-and-white uniform with a long tie around his neck. He looked flawless.

Harper yawned loudly, stretching her body. The realization hit her, and she jerked up, tossing aside the duvet.

"No! I'll be late," she muttered, rushing to the bathroom.

But she changed her mind when the cold water proved too much to endure.

"Ryan, wait! You haven't had breakfast!" Harper screamed, running outside, but he was already gone.

Now I have to skip my morning work to cook to give him in school, then I'll have to head to my afternoon duties and then I would_Ahhhh!" Harper groaned, resting her back against the wall.

She went inside to prepare breakfast, determined to make it to work.

RIVE GAUCHE's headquarters stood majestically on the Seine's banks, its sleek facade gleaming with glass and steel. Logan Vaughn walked in, his modest style and cold aura commanding attention.

"What's my schedule today?" Logan asked his assistant, Jordan.

"Today's Monday, sir," Dan replied.

"Of course, I know that," Logan snapped. "Get to the point."

"You have five blind dates and the CEO meeting, sir. Also, an advocate with the Nermire Group's president-"

"Can you try to shorten all that, and what's with the fucking blind date"He resorted.

"Sir I didn't add it in your schedule but Madam Sharon did"He explained.

"Why did you allow it "He was furstrated but he still choose to maintain his calm .

"She said if you aren't ready to do it then I'm gonna loose my job"He explained.

"Shit _why does she toils me the ways she wish"He groaned silently.

Jordan cornered himself "She also request you visit her , today"He gluped down.

He heaved down"too many requests from a person."

Logan raised his hand, interrupting. "Cancel everything. I'll handle it myself."

He left the office, followed by Dan.

"Stop trailing me," Logan said.

"I wasn't, sir," Dan muttered, turning away.

Logan wondered if Dan was stalking him."A stalker ?"He muttered, entering his car as he started the engine,he head to a store.

Madam Sharon, renowned chairwoman of RIVE GAUCHE Group, was a leading merchant in the global real estate market, topping France's rankings. After her husband, Sir Vaughn, passed away, she took the reins. Her grandson, Logan, became the acting president despite his relatives' disapproval. As the third grandson of a prestigious family, Logan's ascent was remarkable.

Logan's mother had passed away during his college days, and his father, an asthmatic patient, had been hospitalized for most of his life. Madam Sharon, his godmother, had always favored Logan, despite his troubled past. Her influence secured his position as acting president without a vote, immediately following her husband's demise.

As Logan arrived at the store, his phone beeped, interrupting his thoughts. An unknown number flashed on the screen with a menacing message: "STEP DOWN FROM THE PRESIDENTIAL SEAT, OR RISK LOSING YOUR LIFE." Logan scoffed, dismissing it as an empty threat, though a hint of unease lingered.

Logan arrived at a store, intent on buying something for Madam Sharon. He navigated to the drinks and juice shelf, knowing she loved strawberry drinks.

As he reached for a pack, his hand knocked over an expensive glass wine bottle. It shattered on the floor.

"Shit ," Logan cursed.

"You_ did you just say shit!?"Harper, holding a mop, snapped:

Everyone turned to the commotion.

Logan gaze narrowed,as he tries to guess what's wrong with her .

"Do you know I just finished cleaning that spot ,and you've ruined it _ You just ruined my clean floor! Clean it up yourself!"

Logan smirked. "It's your job, why scream out your lungs ?"

Harper's face reddened. "You think you're above everyone else?"

"Save your voice for a banging dick dude!"

Logan's response earned him a slap across the face.

"WTF?"

To be continued.

Chapter 2 A CHANCE ENCOUNTER.

† CHAPTER 2 †

"Don't you dare speak to me like that. I'm not your servant," Harper snapped, her eyes blazing.

She was about to say something else when her phone beeped, signaling an urgent message from her second cleaning job at the hospital.

"You have to come immediately, ma'am. The chairman's son is on his way, and we can't leave the ward untidy..."

Harper's expression changed from anger to urgency.

"This person saved you..." she muttered, shoving her phone into her pocket.

She turned back to Logan.

"Pay for the damages and hire someone to clean up your mess. And for your information, I'm a VVIP cleaner, so don't look down on me," she snapped.

With that, Harper stormed out of the convenience store, leaving Logan stunned.

Logan stood speechless for a moment, processing the unexpected encounter.

Did a woman just slap him-and insult him? That had never happened before.

"Shit," he muttered, groaning.

Logan couldn't believe the audacity of the cleaner.

No one had ever dared to stand up to him like that.

He was Logan, the son of the influential Chairman.

People usually cowered at the mention of his name.

But Harper was different.

Her boldness intrigued him.

Logan's eyes narrowed.

He wanted to know more about this mysterious cleaner.

What made her so fearless?

As he pondered, Logan's phone buzzed.

"Logan, where are you?" his assistant asked.

"I'm on my way to the hospital," Logan replied.

"The chairman's son," Harper had said.

A connection clicked in Logan's mind.

Could this feisty cleaner be the same person he'd heard about?

Logan's curiosity grew.

He needed to find out more about Harper.

Ryan_" Kyle waved enthusiastically as he arrived at school, her bright smile infectious.

"Hi Kyle!" Ryan replied with a warm smile, matching her energy.

"How was your weekend? You didn't call me. Were you ignoring me? And have you finished the continuous assessment?" Kyle asked breathlessly, her words tumbling out.

Ryan chuckled. "Which question should I answer first? You're bombarding me!"

Kyle giggled, her eyes sparkling. "Answer all of them! I want every detail."

Ryan playfully tapped her head. "You're teasing me again. Weren't you the busy one this weekend?"

Kyle grinned mischievously. "You caught me easily."

As they walked inside, Molly and Lula sat gravely on a bench under a tree, watching them with interest.

"I can't stand that bitch," Molly muttered, sucking on a red lollipop, her voice laced with venom.

Lula rolled her eyes in embarrassment, unsure how to react.

"I think I also hate how she clings to him," Molly continued, her gaze fixed on Kyle.

Lula glared, her expression cold. "Maybe you should hate Ryan for snubbing you in class. He's got nerve."

Molly smirked, confidence radiating from her. "Leave him to me. I'll make him mine soon enough."

Just then, Harper rushed in, wearing her cleaning uniform and carrying a lunch pack.

"Ryan!" Harper called out, her voice urgent.

Ryan smiled, walking toward her.

"Hey, I'm in a hurry. The sauce is in the flask below," Harper said hastily, handing Ryan the lunch pack.

Ryan took it, but Harper stopped halfway.

"Are you just arriving at school?" she asked, her brow furrowed.

Ryan denied it with a shake of his head.

"I'll deal with you later," Harper warned, a playful glint in her eye.

Ryan smiled, returning inside.

Molly whispered to Lula, "They seem close."

Lula nodded in agreement. "And she's pretty."

Molly replied coldly, "We're far more beautiful."

Lula raised an eyebrow. "You're not worried about Ryan?"

Molly shrugged. "He's just being friendly."

Kyle, still watching from afar, seethed with jealousy.

As Harper hurried off, Ryan's thoughts lingered on their brief exchange.

He admired Harper's dedication to her job and her caring nature.

Their friendship was genuine.

Little did Ryan know, Kyle's intentions were far from pure.

Molly's gaze never left Ryan.

She was determined to make him hers.

The school day had just begun.

Unbeknownst to Harper, Logan had arrived at the hospital earlier, his eyes fixed on the ward where his grandmother, Madam Sharon, lay. He watched as Harper rushed in, apologizing for her tardiness.

"Sorry I'm late. I got stuck with a difficult person," Harper explained, slightly out of breath.

"Difficult ,but I have an annoying grandson"She replied with a smile.

"Annoying men can be challenging"Harper scoffs , unpacking her box to get started.

Madam Sharon's warm smile put Harper at ease. "My grandson can be challenging sometimes," she chuckled, her eyes twinkling.

Harper had started working at the hospital just a week ago and had grown close to Madam Sharon. Their bond was forged over shared laughter and strawberry drinks.

"I don't want to meet him," Harper joked, feigning apprehension.

Madam Sharon giggled. "He's visiting today. You'll love him, dear."

"I'll just pass_"She scoffs, proceeding further to start cleaning.

"What are you gonna do ?"Madam Sharon asked an obvious question.

"Do my job off course, not to worry when I'm done,I'll spend some time with you"Harper assured.

"Someone else has done that, you don't have to worry..."She patted her back, gently.

But Harper hands drop in disappointment. "Why would someone else do my job ,how am I supposed to get my paycheck"She wondered, disappointed.

Seems the old woman read her. thoughts already, she sneakily passed her an envelope."That's your payment for today, Stay longer, and I'll double your pay."

Harper collected it gratefully from her palms, grinning from ears to ears .

Harper agreed, grateful for the extra income. As she retrieved cups, her mind wandered off to the guy he met at the convenience store.

"Don't just let me met you next time"She chuckled.

Just then, Logan entered. His imposing figure commanded attention.

"Hello, Mum," Logan said, his deep voice filling the room.

Harper recognized his voice and met his piercing gaze. Fear gripped her.

"It's him...,the same man from the convenience store"

"Then he just called her mom .... does it mean,he's madam Sharon's grandson!"Harper realized.

She lost balance and fell from the stool.

Chapter 3 A WEB OF FAMILY SECRETS.

CHAPTER 3

As Harper stood up, dusting herself off, Madam Sharon's voice filled with concern. "Hey, are you okay? When did that happen?"

Harper winced, trying to compose herself. "Yeah... I'm good... Ahh..."

Madam Sharon turned to Logan, frowning. "Why didn't you help her? She's clearly injured."

Logan shrugged, seemingly unbothered. "Why would I help a stranger... I mean, a cleaner?"

Madam Sharon's expression turned incredulous. "You... why would you...?"

Harper, still shaken, gave Logan a disgusted look. "I'll just leave now. I have other work to attend to."

Madam Sharon called out, "You're leaving? What about the strawberry drink,we plan on having?"

Harper replied, "I'll pass... thanks."

As Harper walked out, Madam Sharon turned to Logan, scolding him. "You little...!"

Logan protested, "Mom, what's that for?"

Madam Sharon hit his head, reprimanding him. "Why didn't you help her? She was hurt!"

Logan complained, "Mom, you should be careful; you have a stroke, and this might increase your blood pressure."

Madam Sharon retorted, "I'm not stressing about that; I'm worried about your behavior."

Logan offered her a pack of strawberry drinks, but she refused. "I'm not taking that."

Logan raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

Madam Sharon emphasized, "She brought me some willingly."

Logan asked, incredulous, "So you're going to accept a stranger's offer and reject your own child's?"

Madam Sharon sipped from the drink Harper brought, saying, "Her's tastes better."

Logan's eyes widened in amusement "Wh... what's that...?"

Madam Sharon changed the subject. "How's the company, and where's Jordan?"

Here are some alternative phrases:

- "He won't leave me alone, it's like he's obsessed and a stalker_"He scoffs .

Madam Sharon doubted, "He's a guy, Logan. Your thinking is too wiid. Why would a guy stalk you?"

Logan blurted out, "Maybe he's gay?"

Madam Sharon kicked him, and he fell, hurting his shoulder. "Argh, mom, what's that for?"

Madam Sharon ignored him, asking, "What's up with the shareholders?"

Logan replied mockingly, "They're pulling out against me; I think you should give the president's seat to someone else. I'm being threatened."

Madam Sharon hit his head again, harder. "What makes you think I'll give the seat to you?"

Logan's face lit up with a happy smile. "Really, I'm grateful then. Thanks for that."

Madam Sharon's expression turned calm. "How's your health these days?"

Logan avoided her eyes. "You don't have to worry about me; I'm always good."

Madam Sharon scolded, "You won't listen. I've always told you..."

Logan interrupted, standing up to leave. "There are some fruits in the polythene bag. Take care of yourself; I have to head back."

Madam Sharon was left speechless, frustrated by Logan's abrupt departure. "I have to deal with him myself at this rate."

"We can't just let this happen! He can't just appear out of nowhere and claim the presidency," Gaspard growled, slamming his palms on the table. His face reddened with indignation as he thought about the injustice.

As the first grandson of Madam Sharon and Mr. Henri's son, Gaspard felt strongly about the matter.

To provide some context, Madam Sharon and Mr. Vaughn had three children: two sons, Henri and Edward, and a daughter, Ravissante. Although Madam Sharon was not Henri's biological mother, Mr. Vaughn was his father. Henri, 55, was married to Aimee, and they had four children: two sons, Gaspard (27) and Pierre (25), and two daughters, Calixte (17) and Elise (15).

Their second-born son, Edward, 50, was married to Violette, and they had one child, Logan, 23. Logan's sudden rise to power had left everyone stunned. Their third child, Ravissante, 45, was married to Louis, and they had three children: a son, Leon (19), and twins Lula and Molly (15).

Gaspard's father, Henri, commented calmly, "Bring it down a notch, Gaspard. It's temporary; he's just an acting president." He folded the newspaper he was reading, his eyes fixed on Gaspard.

Gaspard protested, "But why did Grandfather give the presidency to his sickly son, Edward, instead of you, his firstborn? It doesn't make sense!" His voice echoed through the room.

Pierre, seated in the corner, glared and muttered, "He's probably rotting in hell..." His eyes flashed with anger.
