Chapter one: Hunted
Serena
It was dark and rainy as we ran through the dark and poorly illuminated alley, l wondered what we were running from and where we were headed.
"Mum I'm scared, where's daddy," I said to my mum as she held my hand while we ran through the dark alley.
"Daddy's coming my love, so we need to be there to receive him when he gets to our meeting place," she said to me.
We continued running as fast as we could, I didn't want to plague her with any more of my questions but she still somehow noticed my anxiety.
We suddenly stopped running and she crouched down to my height and held my face in her hands and reassured me that everything was okay as she struggled to portray an affirmative silhouette but regardless she couldn't hide anything from me as I couldn't hide anything from her. I saw through her corroborative facade, which gave a fretful aspect as she spoke boldly but not without trepidation.
"My love everything is going to be okay and I'm sorry that we're outside in the dark when it's raining and cold and for the fact that you are soaked, let's just get to the meeting place and Everything will go back to normal".
" You promise mum".
"Yes my dearest, I promise".
Without warning, we heard a sound which appeared to be a gunshot, from a distance and it seemed to be arising from the direction we were coming from as I looked back I became apprehended with fear, I glanced at my mum, and her face manifested to be even more horrified, she suddenly snapped out of her trance and took my hand firmly as we sprinted through the dark alley which was leading to a place we knew nothing about.
Unexpectedly we arrived at a crossroad, we were caught up on which direction to go. As I looked back again I knew that whoever it was that shot the gun was catching up on us because I could hear the sounds their running feets made, splashing through puddles of water as they advanced towards us.
I gazed back at my mum and to my dismay, it surfaced that she didn't know what direction to go, but she held me firmly and we sprang towards the road at our right.
This was not a surrounding we were familiarized with, although we had been living in this city for some days now, we were not yet generalized with the structures of the road as we had only moved into the city a week ago.
The light around the streets was dimmed and did not illuminate the paths properly.
We continued running but abruptly heard another sound of the gun being shot and this time it appeared closer than ever, Nevertheless, my mum held me tighter than ever as we accelerated our steps.
We got to a confined area of a small shadowy partition between two buildings which was extremely dark and led to a different avenue. We stopped and then my mum stooped to my height as she moved her hands to my face and stroked my hair, placing it behind my ear, I noticed her eyes were teary as she tried desperately to suppress them.
" My ba...by ". She said as her voice broke."
"I'm so sorry, I want you to know that your dad and I love you so much and will always be with you". She said with her voice which was breaking and barely audible as she tried to format the words.
" Mum what's going on". I uttered as tears rolled down my eye.
"Nothing is wrong honey, it's just that your dad and I have something we need to take care of and I need you to be a good girl for mommy and do what mommy says, can you do that baby?". She asked as she wiped away the tears that continued to stroll down my eye with her thumbs.
" Yes," I said as I struggled to control the tears flowing from my eye.
"Mommy wants you to run through this narrow alley between these two buildings and I need you to continue running as fast as you can and don't look back no matter what happens okay baby, can you do that for mommy".
"Yes, but mommy I want you to come with me so we could go meet daddy".
" Mommy can't come with you now, I told you didn't I? your dad and I have something to take care of respectively before we meet, and after that, I'll come to find you, it's just like playing hide and seek".
"Are we playing hide and seek mommy"? I voice as I hiccuped in between the formation of words.
" Yes, honey that's exactly what we're doing so....". She couldn't finish her words as we heard another gunshot.
"Run, Serena, run". She said as she pushed me through the small spaced alley and I turned and started to run.
I ran and ran and ran and refused to look back as she had told me, cold rain showered down heavily and I heard a loud gunshot followed by a growl and I couldn't help but glance backward, even if it was just for a few seconds, but my eyes widened with what a saw.
Two men in black masks surrounded my Mum, I shifted my gaze back to her as she fell to the ground and looked lifeless drenched in her blood.
I watched as my Mum's body fell to the ground and gasped, covering my mouth with my hand.
Tears streamed down my face like an endless waterfall.
Even after killing my Mum they still weren't satisfied, they looked around as if in search of something, or someone.
" Dude, what the hell?"One of the men scolded as he turned to his accomplice."Why did you just kill her we could have had some real fun with her."
" Where is she? we've got the husband and the wife, the only person left is the little girl."The other man questioned, ignoring the statement of his accomplice, he blew the tip of his gun as if there was an invisible smoke in it.
A sob escaped my lips when I heard that they had also killed my Dad.
No, I didn't want to believe it, I couldn't have lost my parents.
"She is just a little girl with little legs, she couldn't have gone far,"
I quickly hide in the shadows, hoping they wouldn't notice.
I placed my hands over my lip with tears running down my eyes.
I heard one of them sniff the air.
"Ah, I can smell her, she's not too far." The man sniffling the air muttered as he laughed like a maniac."Hello, baby girl, I know you can hear us, why don't you come on out so we can play huh?"
I heard their footsteps drawing closer, and I closed my eyes, hoping it was some kind of bad dream.
Why? why couldn't I wake up from this nightmare?
I thought about my Mum and my Dad.
'We promise that will always be with you, my dear.
Their words echoed in my mind.
If they promised to always be with me why did they leave me?
"Got you!"
I instinctively opened my eyes, moving my hands from my face only to see a pair of red eyes staring down at me, the owner having a menacing smile on his face, with clearly visible and pointed canines.
"Now let's play."
I screamed at the monstrous sight in front of me and I quickly stood up, staggering backward, before I turned around and ran through the shadowy partition.
"F**k, it's too small, and narrow."
"Then let's follow the other way she wouldn't be able to get far with those legs of hers."
I heard the scary-looking men express when they saw me running, I shifted my gaze forward, not bothering to look back.
I ran into an open street, everywhere was quiet, and I didn't know where to go.
I followed the road, running as fast as I could even when the rain showed harder.
"There she is," I heard one of the men voice out as they drew closer to me.
I had only glanced backward for a second but when I shifted my gaze forward again, all I could see was a bright light.
Then I gasped.
I quickly sat up from my bed and tried to steady my heartbeat.
I was soaked in sweat even when I left my window open.
A sigh escaped my lips in frustration.
"These damned nightmares again" I mumbled as I ran my hands through my hair.
I stepped out of the bed.
Why did these nightmares have to haunt me almost every time I close my eyes?
I glanced at my wall clock, it was already 5:03 am, at least I wouldn't have to force myself to go back to sleep like I usually did when I had such nightmares only to wake up in the middle of the night.
I walked towards the door leading to the balcony, and with a light push, I opened it.
I closed my eyes when I felt the wind, and a tear suddenly slid down my face, but I quickly wiped it off as if afraid that someone would see it.
"Mom, Dad, I'm trying,"
When these words left my lips, I felt my heart tighten, the pain was struggling to get to the surface again.
I tugged my hair behind my ears.
At this point, I couldn't help but wonder if these dreams were my punishment for all that I had done, all that I had caused, for lives that have been lost, the ones yet to be lost, and the ones that were already at risk.
It was all because of me, my very existence was a threat to others, if only I could disappear.
Would everything finally be okay after that? maybe it would, maybe it wouldn't, well I don't know, but I do know one thing.
If I disappeared, I wouldn't have to feel, bear, and carry on living with all the guilt and nightmares that hunted me.
I shook my head.
I couldn't disappear now, not after all the sacrifices that have been made, I need to be worth it, but why don't I feel worth it?
My phone suddenly rang, pulling me from my thought.
I walked back into my room wondering who it could be as early as it was.
But I only had a limited number of people in mind.
I glanced at the caller ID and it was none other than Stacy, my best friend and only friend for the record.
At first, I thought of ignoring the call as I was not in the mood to speak to anyone but then after much deliberations, I answered the call.
"Hey what's up?"
I heard Stacy inquire from the other line with her usual enthusiasm.
"Nothing special, same as usual" I replied, pausing slightly before I continued."But you already know that."
She chuckled in response.
I tried to match her vitality.
The last thing I wanted was for Stacy to bombard me with questions about my mental health or sanity.
Stacy has such a perceptive that she could sense the slightest change in a person's attitude.
"What if I say I have a remedy for all that boredom."
"Am I supposed to be interested?"
"I don't know you tell me."
"What if I say no?"
"Why would you say no when you've not even heard what I wanted to say."
"Let's say I have a good guess, clubbing"
"Not...exactly,"
"Well at least it's still similar, and I seriously can't believe you'd try to lure me with that, I mean what are we, twelve? It's not as thrilling as you think it is to me."
"What could be more tempting than a great party, filled with good liquor, hot boys, and good music?"
"Hmm let me see maybe being responsible for a whole race,"
"Well, would you look at that, look who's all grown up" Stacy teased"Come on, you know I'll need a drinking buddy, and whether you agree with me or not you need this, don't make me beg, so what do you say, are you coming or not?"
Chapter Two: Fallen angels.
Ring
Ring
The sound of a ringing phone filled the whole room, disrupting the silence.
The room was poorly illuminated with the only source of light from a slightly opened window.
Empty bottles of liquor could be seen scattered around the vicinity, the smell of earth mixed with smoke filled the whole room, cigarette butts, and ash on a dish on the floor, a gamepad resting beside it next to a couch.
The silhouette of a man could be seen laying on the couch with one of his hands over his forehead, silent breaths escaping his lips.
He had his eyes closed.
To anyone seeing his present position, he would appear to be sleeping but that was not the case because he was well awake.
Ring
Ring
The ringing of his cell phone persisted, at first, he wanted to ignore it, thinking the caller would stop after their failed attempts to get to him but the ringing continued and this did nothing but irritate him.
Ring
Ring
In irritation, his eyelids snapped open, revealing a pair of piercing green eyes.
"For f**k's sake," He grumbled under his breath as he reached for his cell phone on the ground close to the couch before adopting a sitting position.
He ran his hands through his thick black hair in frustration as he gaze at the caller ID.
Enzo.
"The damned p*ick" He cursed again under his breath, now gazing at his phone screen.
He answered the call deciding to get things over with so he could go back to forcing himself to sleep.
On answering the call he tossed the cell phone on the couch, placing his two legs on the floor after which he placed a cigarette on his lip, and flickered a lighter close to its tip.
"Yo, Dude It's been...."
"Cut the sh*t Enzo, You better have a good reason for calling me, or else.." He cuts in, with a warning, letting his words trail off, though his voice was calm, the underlying threat in his words was visible.
"Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," The fellow on the other line joked with a light chuckle."You should know I'm immune to all your threats man, it's getting old,"
"Hmm," He muttered as he realized the smoke in the atmosphere."Then I guess I'll need to be more creative,"
"Hey, Hey I was just kidding, why do I feel like your smirking right now, f**king sadist, Dude you've got issues,"
A smirk appeared on his lips as he sucked in once more."Get to the point Enzo, I've not got all day,"He voiced impatiently.
He picked up his cell phone again when he got a message from an unknown number.
"I'm at the club, close to the outskirts of the city, and we're short of hands so..."
I couldn't finish the sentence as he heard a crashing sound.
"What the f**k man, did you just toss your phone away,"
"Good guess, keep talking and I'll make you regret it, I'm not ready to listen to blab about that sh*t hole,"
After tossing the phone away he returned to his side as he lay on the couch.
"Come on man, you know you owe me one and it's time to pay back, my boss is gonna kill me and hell, I can't do this sh*t alone, you know how much I love working here,"
"..."
With that Enzo cut the call.
"You must have had me mistaken for someone that actually gave a f**k," He muttered as he lay on his back staring at the ceiling.
He continued to lay like that for some time.
Enzo's words echoed in his mind.
'You know you owe me one,"
'You know you owe me one,"
Moments later he suddenly adopted a seating position again, his two legs now on the ground.
"The F**king P**ck," He mumbled under his breath again as he stood up from the couch.
"I guess I'll just have to kill him when I get there."A smirk played on his lips.
He grabbed his jacket and exited the door to his apartment, slamming the door hard in annoyance.
""""
Serena
The dance floor was decorated with red and blue laser beams that shot out from the rotating light in the ceiling.
The music was in the background, pounding hard against the wall of the club and I struggled not to close my ears due to my heightened hearing.
The smell of alcohol, sweat, sex, and drugs filled my nostrils, and I took everything in me not to turn around and walk out of the club.
I looked around, trying to find a place to stay as I waited for Stacy but the couches were littered with empty cups from drinking, I couldn't seat there.
I thought about leaning against the wall but even the walls were filled with people who were busy making out in the dimmed light of the club.
I felt a blush spread across my cheeks and I quickly averted my gaze.
How could people be so oblivious to their surroundings, to even think of doing such things in public where everyone could see them, just how bold could these humans be?
I quickly discarded the thought, that was not my business, not that I'm judging anyone, I was in a club after all, and like people always,- it's a free world, so they could do whatever they wanted.
When I decided to meet Stacy here, I had already expected to see scenes like these, after all, I used my two legs to walk into a club, so I had no right to judge anyone.
A sigh escaped my lips as I struggled to find my way through the club.
What was I even doing in a place like this, two days from now and it would be my freaking coronation for god sake and here I was moving through bodies.
Why did I even let Stacy talk me into coming here?
That man would kill me if he finds out I came to a place like this.
But in the end, I couldn't completely blame Stacy, she didn't force me to come, I could have declined if I wanted to but I didn't, maybe it was because I thought this whole setting would help me forget, even if it was just for a moment but now I'm not so sure that it's a good choice.
The Fallen angel.
What a weird name for a club, that was my first impression of the club when I heard about it, but I soon after realized that it's name precedes it.
This was a club located on almost the border separating werewolves from humans, so it is a popular club where the majority of people found there are humans with fewer werewolves.
Not that it was a bother to me, it was actually better this way, here people couldn't tell or sense that I'm a werewolf and that is exactly what I want.
Even as a werewolf, I couldn't help but feel a slight goosebump come to my skin, just thinking about the club.
It's a club popular amongst humans and maybe some werewolves, but the club had a reputation.
You could find all the dirty sins possible in this club, from drugs to murder, human trafficking, and a lot more.
Numerous disappearances and deaths have been recorded in this club, on both parts, werewolves, and humans alike.
I was suddenly jolted from my thought when I felt a hand slide across my elbow.
"What with that look on your face?"
I heard Stacy's voice as she leaned in to whisper into my ears, because of loud music in the background.
"Maybe it's because I don't want to be here" I began, turning around to meet her gaze." Plus You know I can hear you right, heightened hearing and all that." I continued, pointing to my ears.
"Ugh! you need to loosen up and have some fun and yes I know you can hear me clearly but aren't we trying to fit in, where's the fun in just being one's self when you can try a different persona? you know you can just see the whole thing like we're going undercover on a secret mission as humans you know the way it goes in those movies." She paused slightly, giving my outfit a look."God, I can never trust you with clothes."
"Isn't being on a secret mission too exaggerated, and what exactly is wrong without what I'm wearing,"
She gave me a look saying, do you want me to state it out?
I could only roll my eyes.
"I've not changed my mind, I'm only staying here for fifty minutes starting now."
"Alright, alright, now it's time for you to loosen up and have some fun and I think know what might just do the trick."
Before I could protest, I felt Stacy pulling me by the hand towards the bar, she yanked me through the mass of sweaty bodies partying hard on the dance floor.
"Excuse me!" Stacy shouted out to the bartender while I stood behind her.
At that moment my mind was occupied with all the possible ways that man would kill me if he found out where I was, or what Stacy was about to make me do.
"Thank you," I heard Stacy say with a smile as she winked at the male bartender, then she turned to me with an excited look in her eyes, a mischievous smile resting on her face.
"Here you go."
We sat on the seats by the bar.
I hesitantly reached out to take the glass of liquor in her hand.
"Now drink up, you need to stop goddamn worrying about whatever it is that has been occupying that head of yours. The Alpha would never find out about anything" She paused for a moment, taking a sip of her liquor, and then closed her eyes to appreciate the taste."Hmm, this is good, like I was saying that man wouldn't even notice you were gone, trust me I've got one like him at home but that never stopped me from having fun, he still hasn't found out about my numerous accomplishments if you know what I mean? and" She winked then pointed a hand at me."You remember why we are here right, it's to have fun and forget all our worries."
I moved my gaze from Stacy to the glass of liquor in my hand.
'Forget all my worries.'
If only it was that easy, I couldn't help but wonder if this would really help me forget about even just a little of my worries.
Well, only one way to find out.
"Come on drink up,"
I brought the glass of liquor to my lips, closing my eyes as I exhaled deeply.
I tilted my head backward as I gulped down the drink in one go, cringing at the burn I felt in my throat.
"That the spirit," Stacy praised but I could only gaze at her with squinted eyes.
God, this tasted awful, how did people even enjoy this?
I coughed slightly, bringing my hand over my mouth, and inhaling deeply.
That was really strong.
"So how was it?" Stacy asked but I couldn't speak just yet, I just gave her a look saying I think you already know the answer then she burst into laughter.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry,"
"Stop apologizing 'cause I know you don't mean it."I finally spoke.
She giggled again."Look I'm really sorry, I just can take things seriously with that expression on your face."
I could only roll my eyes at the obvious lie.
Stacy shifted her gaze to the bartender from before who was busy attending to a group of girls, who seemed to be flirting with him, while he also flirted back.
"Bartender!" Stacy suddenly yelled, while also using hand gestures to gain his attention.
I immediately snapped at her when I realized what she was about to do.
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked even though I had my suspicions.
"Obviously ordering us some more drinks," She turned to me and I could see the mischievous smirk from before" You're out" She pointed at the empty glass in my hand." And don't worry you'll like this one."
Chapter Three: Greek god in tattoos
Before I could say anything else the bartender was already beside us.
"Would you girls like anything else," He asked moving his gaze from Stacy to me, then back to Stacy.
"Yeah, are there any specials on the list" Stacy voiced out in a seductive low voice while playing with a strand of her hair, the mischievous smile still lingering on her lips.
"Depends on what type of special you want," The bartender replied, a smile also resting on his lips, he turned his gaze to me, his gaze lingering on my face a while longer before he shifted them back to Stacy."I see you brought a friend today and a beautiful one at that," he turned back to me giving me a light nod in acknowledgment and I just waved a hand, he then shifted his gaze to Stacy." I rarely ever see you with anyone, this is new."
"Hmm, She's a childhood friend of mine" Stacy hummed, climbing off the chair, her gaze never leaving his," And of course, what were you expecting, birds of a feather always flock together, a pretty girl such as myself is bound to have.."She paused slightly, tilting her head, as she let her hand trail down his muscular arm, and only coming to a stop at the elbow," Beautiful friends as well."
"I see, I can't argue with that" The bartender agreed.
"Speaking of pretty girls looks like your fan girls are missing you, " She used her eyes to point at the group of girls from before then she moved her gaze back to him."I wouldn't want them to get the wrong impression about us, so I'll just get straight to giving my orders,"
Stacey started to play with her hair again, gazing at him with seductive eyes, while flashing him her signature killer smile.
At least that's what she calls it.
The bartender could only smile at her while listening to her make her orders.
"Anything else?" The bartender inquired when Stacy suddenly stopped talking.
"No, that would be all but..." Stacy bit her lower lips." What about your co-worker?" She fluttered her lashes."You know the tall, muscular one with striking green eyes."
"I don't know, you'll have to be more specific, we've got a lot of tall muscular workers with green eyes."
"No, this one's different, it's hard not to notice him, you should know him, he started work a week ago, extremely hot and looks like a Greek god with tattoos, I'm sure a lot of ladies have asked about him already, I think you guys call him Cinco."
She leaned into his ears whispering something I couldn't quite get because of the loud music in the background, then he whispered something back to her.
She chuckled slightly before she bit his earlobe.
I felt my eyes almost pop out of their sockets at the level of her boldness.
What the hell, I wanted to scream at her over her confidence, she seemed very smug with what she was doing, and I couldn't help but wonder, just how many times she had flirted so boldly.
Stacy and I are complete opposites, she is brave, social, and very bold, like really bold, especially in situations, I wasn't sure I could ever be, I could say I'm brave, maybe a little social depending on the situation but being bold, I wasn't so sure about that.
But then again I could be tough and bold if I wanted to.
I could see the grumpy look on the faces of the girls from before. They looked like they were ready to kill someone, but Stacy seemed to be unfazed by them, I could only wonder how long it would take before things went south.
I averted my gaze from the drama unfolding before my eyes, a sigh escaping my lips as I gazed around in absolute boredom.
I thought that going to the club would be a good distraction for me but I was wrong to think I could escape from reality.
Going to the club didn't change anything, it didn't change the fact that my world was falling apart and I couldn't do anything, it was only a matter of time before...
"Serena"
"Serena"
"Yeah?" I blurted out, bringing my thoughts back to the present.
She raised a brow while giving me a look and then it instantly clicked.
"Everything okay? I think you completely zoned out for a moment there," Stacey gazed at me with a slightly worried expression."I've called your name like five times now, should I be worried?"
I instantly felt like face-palming myself for letting my thoughts wander off the way I did, how was I supposed to convince her now that everything was okay?
Think Serena, think.
"I was listening to the Lyrics of the song, and it's really good, who sang it?"
She gave me a worried look immediately after these words left my lips.
"What?" I inquired, not understanding why she was looking so worried.
"It's an upbeat instrumental, it doesn't have any lyrics,"
I felt like I died of embarrassment and came back when Stacy said that, now she looked even more worried.
I was so cut up with everything that I didn't even consider the music in the background and just blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
A blush crept to my cheeks out of embarrassment and I felt like the earth should instantly open and swallow me, it didn't help matters that the bartender was still standing right next to us.
"Oh is that so, I guess it must be the drinks, it's making me hear things" I laughed awkwardly before I quickly changed the subject to save myself from further embarrassment." Anyways, you wanted to say something?"
"Yes," Stacy affirmed, I could tell she was still worried but decided to accept my excuse for now.
"He wanted to take your order" She turned to the bartender, and I also shifted my gaze to him.
" I want to know if you'd like any drink in particular, I heard you didn't like the last one you had,"
"No, I don't have anything special in mind, actually I'm about to leave so I'll just have a bottle of water to sober up,"
He nodded his head and with that, he left to get our orders
"What was that spacing out about? should I be worried?"
I struggled not to roll my eyes at Stacy's words.
"I think the more important matter here is how brave you've become."
"I'm always this brave honey."
"You could have at least spared my innocent eyes,"
"I'm just giving you tips on a thing or two."
"I think I'll pass on that, I'm okay being me,"
"Suit your self girl."
The bartender came back with the drinks, Stacy and I ordered and I was thankful for the bottle of water.
"Thank you," I couldn't help but appreciate.
"You're most welcome,"
He turned to Stacy, giving her a wink before he went back to tending to one thing or the other.
I noticed Stacy's gaze linger on his frame before he disappeared into the dim light.
Stacy then turned her gaze back to me, stretching out a hand, with a glass of liquor.
"I only ordered a bottle of water, those are all you."
"I know but you should know that I'm generous, I ordered this one for you, and trust me you'll love this one."
"Need I remind you that I'm leaving this club when this water gets into my system."
"It's just a glass Serena, trust me you'll like this one, it has low alcohol content and taste's sweet."
With an exhausted sigh, I excepted the glass, taking a few sips of it at first.
I squinted my eyes, expecting it would be as bad as the first but it wasn't, it actually tasted sweet.
"See I told you, you'd like it."
Silence befell us once more, and I noticed Stacy's eyes moving around the club as if in search of someone.
"If I didn't know better, for a moment, I was almost starting to think something was going on between you and that bartender." I joked.
"What if there is?"Stacy meets my gaze and I could a serious look in her eyes.
I was at a loss for words, was she really serious? I tried not to take her words seriously but I she didn't seem to be joking when she spoke.
I mean I wasn't against her choices in men but with her position in the pack, I felt like their relationship was not possible, it had no future.
I decided not to dig into it, and change the subject.
"I'm afraid he would get jealous with the way you were asking about that other guy while at the same time flirting with him."
She chuckled slightly.
"Maybe that's what I want, for him to get jealous," Stacy said, sipping her drink."And for the record, I wasn't asking about the guy for my sake, I was asking for yours,"
"Really now, it's really amusing how you assume that you know why type of guy, I never remembered having such conversations with you,"
"Let's say I'm good at matchmaking,"
"Interesting" I dropped the glass of liquor on the table. "And you assume my type of guy is tall, muscular, tattooed, and looks like a Greek god" I struggled not to laugh at my own words.
I felt like her words were too exaggerated, she might just be giving the dude too much credit.
"Well, you know what they say, opposites attract."
"Now I find it very irresponsible of you to think that such a man is perfect for me, I mean with the way you described him, he sounded like the typical heartbreaker."
"I never said perfect and don't you go judging a book by its covers, I just feel like that's the persona he gives when anyone sees him, and not the real him, he could be one of those tough guys with a really soft side to the girl he loves." Stacy raised her hands in the air, in a defensive manner."And I do believe such a man would be good for you," She paused for a moment," Her right hand on her jaw, adopting a posture of one in deep thought " I really think a cool guy with mafia vibes might be just what you need to spice up this boring life of yours,"
"Wow, that one theory you've got there, and how long did you say you've known this person."
"I can't say we are acquaintances but it's just like I said, I'm a good judge of character, and he did leave quite the impression on me on our first encounter,"
"If he's as good and handsome as you say he is why don't you date him? I mean from the description he seems to be your type."
"He turned me down," Stacy muttered sadly.
"Ouch, then he's lacking go taste."I chuckled.
"Don't try to make me feel better and besides I'm glad he did, the relationship would have never worked, physically he is my type of guy but then I realized I didn't really have feelings for him, I was only attracted to him."
"And so you think things might work out if it's me"
"Yeah, I think you're totally his type,"
"You seem to be forgetting that you're friend here is betrothed,"
"Being betrothed and married aren't the same things,"
"I'm soon to be married how about that, shouldn't having something with any man right now be regarded as being scandalous."
"Well, I would never marry a man I hold no affections for, "I noticed the sudden seriousness in her voice.
"You say it like I have a choice."
"You have a choice Serena, there is always another choice, but knowing you, you wouldn't pick it, If I were in your shoes I would never continue with the wedding."
When she said those words I could swear I saw a flash of something in her eyes, something I couldn't quite place my finger on.
