I wanted to decline, but Timothy urgently picked me up. We got into the car together.
The car bumped along the mountain road and made me feel a bit dizzy.
When we arrived at the hunting lodge, Timothy noticed I wasn't feeling well and opened the car door for me.
"Are you feeling carsick?" he asked softly.
"It's fine." I shook my head and silently got out of the car.
As soon as I reached the entrance, I saw the last person I wanted to meet.
It was Bryanna.
She was in a white shirt and tight jeans. Her long hair was tied back. She had a charming smile on her face. She was eye-catching among the young wolves.
Bryanna was Timothy's stepmother. After his father passed away, Timothy took on the responsibility of taking care of her. Over the years, they never displayed any excessive intimacy in front of me.
I had never imagined that Timothy harbored such deep feelings for Bryanna.
Bryanna noticed Timothy holding my hand as we walked into the entrance of the hunting lodge. She gave a meaningful smile. It seemed that she was aware of Timothy's plan of taking revenge.
Thinking of that, I felt a chill run through my spine.
Timothy noticed Bryanna looking at us and was flustered. He let go of my hand.
He whispered, "I'll go and say hello to my friends. You go ahead and look around. I'll be right back."
Watching Timothy's departing figure, I felt sadness.
As soon as Timothy left, Bryanna broke away from the group and headed in the same direction.
I watched them disappear around the corner, and my headache intensified. I intended to have a rest somewhere.
"Hey, Vanessa, let us take you to the deer park. You love little animals, don't you?" Timothy's close friends joked as they dragged me towards the woods.
I waved my hand in refusal. "Let me wait for Timothy to come back. I was feeling carsick earlier, and I am not quite well."
"He'll catch up soon. You will feel better after you breathe fresh air in the woods." They quickly pulled me towards the woods as they talked to me.
"Look, hey, Vanessa, there are deer," someone shouted. My gaze followed his pointing direction.
But someone behind me gave a sudden push.
"Ah-" I screamed. Before I could see who pushed me, I rolled directly down the slope.
Branches and wild grass scratched my cheeks.
I couldn't stop myself from tumbling over and over until I finally came to a halt at the valley bottom.
I was battered against some stone and bruised.
My vision blurred as I gradually lost consciousness.
...
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself lying in bed in the villa. I felt dizzy, and every slight movement sent waves of pain through my body. I was covered in bruises and scrapes.
I struggled to sit up. Timothy helped me and handed me a cup of water and some pills with concern. "You slipped down the slope. These are painkillers. Take some, and you won't feel any pain."
I was dazed and took the pills without thinking. The pain was overwhelming.
I lay down again and drifted into a restless sleep. But I was jolted awake by waves of nausea and stomach cramps.
I struggled to open my eyes and found Timothy was gone.
With all my strength, I made it to the bathroom. I suffered from severe vomiting and diarrhea.
Moreover, my eyes still ached, and I couldn't see clearly.
I had to go to the hospital.
I called for an ambulance.
The doctor exclaimed anxiously upon seeing me.
With three hours of emergency treatment later, my condition began to improve.
I lay in bed and watched the nurse apply ointment to my wounds. "You luckily came in time, or you might have lost the baby."
After I was hospitalized this time, I learned that I was pregnant with Timothy's baby.
I weakly leaned against the bed and stared at the medical report in my hand blankly. "I took painkillers and had a sleep. I didn't eat anything, but why did I have diarrhea?"
The nurse asked, "Did you take painkillers?"
I took out a small bottle and handed it to her. "My mate gave me these. I just take some."
The nurse took the bottle and crushed a pill to examine it closely. "The label says they are painkillers, but there are actually laxatives in the bottle. Luckily, you came to the hospital in time. Otherwise, you might have gone into shock."
I looked at the nurse's serious expression, and my face darkened. Then I forced a weak smile. "Maybe my mate made a mistake."
Just then, I received some messages.
I took out my phone and read the content. My fingers trembled, and I could barely hold my phone.
It was Timothy's friends chatting.
"Ahhh, the mission was accomplished for the 98th revenge."
"This plan was perfect. We pushed her down the slope, and then Timothy gave her laxatives. She's probably feeling awful right now."
"It's a pity that we couldn't blind her this time. Otherwise, she can't compete with Bryanna in the piano contest."
Soon, someone realized the situation. "Oh no! You sent the messages in the wrong chat group. Vanessa is in this group, too."
