Betsy held the jade pendant and looked provocatively at Bettina. "Do you want it?"
"So, when Asher is away, you don't bother to pretend anymore." Bettina glared at Betsy and said, "Give me the pendant."
"What if I don't? You know what? If I tell Asher I like it and want it, he will surely give it to me."
Bettina pressed her lips together and struggled to suppress her anger. "Betsy, what exactly do you want? I just said that I would divorce Asher, and you can marry him. I don't want anything else, just this jade pendant. I've already given everything to you. What else do you want?"
"Do I need you to give me? Even if you didn't, I'd find a way to make you and Asher divorce. Do you think I need you to give anything to me?"
Betsy wore a triumphant smile. Then she caught a glimpse of Asher running towards them out of the corner of her eye. She quickly grabbed Bettina's hand and started crying. "Bettina, I just wanted to look at the pendant. Don't be so mean."
Bettina frowned and tried to push her away. "What are you doing? Don't touch me!"
Betsy took several steps back and eventually bumped Asher, who had just arrived. "What happened?"
Asher's face turned dark as he saw Betsy crying.
"It's nothing, Asher. Don't blame Bettina. It's my fault. I just wanted to look at the pendant, and she wouldn't let me." Betsy sobbed, handing the pendant to Asher.
"I know Bettina likes it. Even though both the baby and I want it, we can't have it. I'm just too greedy. You've already bought me so many things."
Her acting was impeccable, and Bettina didn't want to say more. She simply reached out to Asher. "Give it to me."
Asher picked up the pendant and was about to hand it to Bettina. But he finally took his hand back and put it around Betsy's neck instead.
Betsy was taken aback by the gesture. "Asher, what are you doing? Take it off. Otherwise, Bettina will be angry."
Watching his actions, Bettina trembled violently as she extended her hand.
She couldn't believe her eyes. "Asher, you promised to compensate me with this pendant."
"I did say that." Asher pulled Betsy into his arms. "But you really don't behave well. I walk away for a moment, and you start bullying Betsy. I don't like that. Consider this pendant as your apology to Betsy. Once you learn to behave, I'll buy you a new one."
Looking at Asher, Bettina finally broke down emotionally. "I never even touched her. There are cameras everywhere in the hotel. Check them! Betsy, give me back the pendant!"
She rushed towards Betsy and tried to snatch the pendant back.
Asher protected Betsy and forcefully pushed Bettina away. "Are you out of your mind? With so many people here, do you want to make a scene? Regardless of the cameras, I trust Betsy. She never lies."
Bettina bumped into the chair, and the impact caused a real jolt of pain through her back.
Bettina raised her gaze to Asher and completely lost hope for him. "Fine, I don't want it anymore. Give it to her."
Supporting her waist, she turned and walked away expressionlessly.
"Bettina..." Watching her leave, Asher felt uneasy.
He was about to follow her, but Betsy quickly grabbed his arm. "Asher, I'm so tired. Can we go home?"
"Alright. I'll call Bettina to join us."
"Better not. She is upset right now. If we share a car, we might have more conflict. Didn't you arrange a driver for her?"
Asher nodded. "You're right. Let's give her some time to cool down."
Outside the hotel, Bettina glanced back, but Asher didn't follow her.
In the past, no matter how far she walked after a fight, Asher would always come to coax her.
But he had Betsy now. He would never try to make her happy again.
She didn't wait any longer and got into the car.
"Asher, it was your final chance, and you just didn't take it. Since you trust Betsy so much, I'll leave. Spend the rest of your life with her," she thought.
