Chapter 5

Coralie went to the immigration office to pick up her documents and unexpectedly ran into Kellan again.

As expected, Perla was standing right next to him.

Kellan asked, "Honey, what are you doing here?"

He hurriedly explained that he was accompanying Perla to get her passport, as she planned to stay in the country for a while.

"Coralie, you don't mind Kellan keeping me company, do you?"

Perla smiled, but inside she was seething with hatred for the woman in front of her.

Just yesterday, she had prepared a bunch of photos and videos to provoke Coralie, only to discover she had been blocked.

Coralie smiled indifferently.

"Why would I? He's just accompanying you to handle some paperwork, not sleeping with you, so why should I care?"

Perla's face changed with anger, and Kellan quickly pulled Coralie aside.

"Coralie Wright, what nonsense are you spouting?"

His sharp tone caught Coralie off guard.

It was the first time in seven years that Kellan had called her by her name and the first time he had shown anger towards her.

All she had done was say something Perla didn't like, yet he reacted this way.

"If you know I'm talking nonsense, why are you so anxious?"

Coralie's gaze was steady and unwavering, making Kellan feel a bit uneasy.

He put his arm around her shoulder.

"Alright, honey, I know I've been too busy these days and neglected you a little. Don't worry, once things settle down, I'll make it up to you, okay?"

Coralie took a step back, distancing herself from him. The scent of the women's perfume clinging to him made her feel nauseous.

Kellan's arms fell empty, and he felt a twinge of emptiness in his heart as well.

"I know you're busy, and I have things to do too. I'll be going now."

With that, Coralie turned and left, carrying her things.

If Kellan had been as attentive as he used to be, he would have inquired about what she was actually doing here.

But his heart was no longer with Coralie, so he didn't care anymore.

Watching Coralie's lonely figure walk away, Kellan felt a pang of unease.

He wanted to comfort her, but Perla pulled him along, and he didn't see what happened next.

Distracted, Coralie walked along the road, not noticing the oncoming car. Fortunately, the driver reacted quickly, and she only suffered a slight scrape on her leg.

Knowing it was her fault, Coralie didn't make things difficult for the driver. After he took her to the hospital, she let him go.

"Kellan, did you hear what the doctor said? I'm pregnant with twins!"

Perla's voice sounded from behind, causing Coralie to pause.

They not only had a child but two?

"Perla, that's wonderful! I'm going to have two kids at once."

Kellan's excitement was unparalleled. Coralie had never seen him so thrilled. It was clear he truly loved Perla and her children.

She tilted her head back to force back tears and limped into the doctor's office.

After the X-ray, the doctor assured her that her bone was uninjured and that she just needed to rest for a couple of days.

Holding her medication, Coralie walked out of the hospital, feeling desolate. She looked up and saw Kellan protectively leading Perla out of the hospital as well.

The smile on Kellan's face vanished the moment he saw Coralie.

"Coralie? What are you doing here too?"

He frowned and pulled her aside. "You weren't following us, were you? Coralie, I've told you, I'm just helping Perla with a few things today. Why are you acting paranoid and following us here? What do you want?"

Kellan dragged Coralie a dozen meters away, and her freshly bandaged leg started bleeding again.

The pain made her wince in pain, but Kellan didn't notice her discomfort.

"Honey, there's a limit to how angry you should be. That's enough. Go home first, and I'll come back later to explain everything."

Kellan turned and walked away, leaving Coralie in too much pain to speak. She could only sit on a bench to catch her breath.

Today, Kellan had called her by her name three times. Was he starting to grow tired of her?

Coralie laughed at herself. At this point, why was she still bothered by such things?

What difference did it make if she couldn't accept it?

Everything was coming to an end.
