Chapter 3

Kylee was quickly dragged into the garden, and her knees buckled under a forceful kick. She was forced to kneel down.

The torrential rain pounded down, making her fail to open her eyes. It soaked her thin dress.

She shivered from the cold, and her lips turned pale. Her face turned ashen with despair.

In a daze, she noticed the lights in Kenney's room on the second floor.

The storm raged outside, while inside, passion ran high.

Two intertwined figures moved to the window. They did it behind the curtain.

Ruth's hand even pressed against the window. She seemed to be taunting Kylee.

Witnessing that scene, Kylee was completely depressed.

She could almost hear their heavy breathing.

He pretended his legs hadn't healed, and Kylee looked for specialists for him. Back then, he must be doing the same thing in his room with Ruth.

Ironically, Kylee often changed into nightwear and hoped to help Kenney regain his sexual ability during that time. She was coldly pushed away each time.

She lowered her head, and tears silently mingled with the rain.

It turned out that he had desires, just not for Kylee.

A long time passed before Kenney and Ruth stopped, and the lights went out.

"Did you see how much Kenney loves me?" Ruth went downstairs in a nightdress. Her neck was adorned with kiss marks.

She leaned against the doorframe and smiled brightly.

Suddenly, Kylee's pupils constricted sharply.

Ruth was wearing the silk nightdress Kylee's parents bought for Kylee.

The cold rain felt like ice piercing Kylee's chest. As suffocation overcame her, Ruth pinned Kylee.

"Kylee, stop pretending. I saw you at the door delivering medicine earlier." Thunder cracked, illuminating Ruth's twisted face like a ghost. "Since you saw everything, I might as well tell you the truth. Don't you realize your situation? You're nothing but a joke to Kenney." Kenney and I have been close since we were kids. We rely on each other in the family. He can only sleep peacefully in my arms. He even learned racing for me because he thinks he would save me as soon as possible. Even when he had a high fever, he called my name. Do you think you can compete with me?"

Kylee lowered her eyes and felt herself utterly ridiculous.

She had taken care of Kenney when he was unconscious.

During those days, as he burned with fever, he muttered something.

Kylee foolishly thought he was calling her and had been happy for days. How stupid she was!

Seeing her dejected look, Ruth crossed her arms and looked down at her smugly. "Kylee, you're a brazen woman. Kenney always told me about a clingy admirer who chased him relentlessly. So I just wanted to teach you a lesson. You have to keep in line. What happened today is just a taste of what's to come."

Kylee's forehead was covered in cold sweat. She had always been fragile.

Listening to Ruth's words, she was heartbroken.

She clenched the hem of her dress and fought off nausea as she stood.

Seeing that, Ruth rushed over emotionally and slapped Kylee. "You bitch, how dare you leave?"

Kylee frowned at Ruth, but in her daze, Ruth's figure seemed unclear.

Kylee's ears buzzed, and dizziness overwhelmed her.

"Are you pretending, are you? You must be on your knees!" Ruth pressed down on Kylee's shoulders, and the former's face was twisted. "Kneel down, you brazen woman!"

Suddenly, a voice came from the doorway. "What are you doing?"

It was Kenney. Kylee always remembered his voice.

She couldn't hold on any longer and collapsed to the ground, fainting.

Before losing consciousness, she vaguely saw Kenney running over in a panic.

He looked nervous.

He even forgot to pretend his legs were still injured.
