Chapter 6

Colby left the Gibson family's mansion and quickly headed to the building next door.

Dean Begum had received her message and opened the door early, greeting her with a gentle smile, "Anna is sleeping."

Colby hurriedly washed her hands and tiptoed to the baby's room. Looking at the baby's even breathing, she couldn't help but shed tears.

She hadn't expected the power of maternal love to be so overwhelming, just one glance at her daughter dissolved all her resentment, leaving her feeling tender.

Colby kissed Anna's tiny feet but forced herself to leave the room, placing her bag filled with jewelry down decisively.

"Liquidate the assets promptly. Without certificates and packaging, the price will be lower, but it doesn't matter. After all, any single piece is worth a lifetime's savings for most people. I'll find time to come back again. Take care of yourself." Colby returned to the mansion, just in time to encounter Brenda, who had just stepped out of the car. Brenda's expression was displeased. "Going out in the middle of the night, what are you thinking?"

Colby looked up at the second floor. Brenda followed her gaze, noticing the intimate figures behind the curtains, so she didn't say anything more.

She handed over a divorce agreement. "Find a way to get Ruben to sign it and bring it to me."

Colby signed her name and replied, "No need to find a way. It can be done now."

With that, she headed upstairs. Ruben, interrupted by the knocking, opened the door with an angry expression, which softened upon seeing Colby. He was about to speak when she handed him the agreement. "I have my eye on a building. Just sign here."

For Colby, Ruben had always been accommodating. Money was never an issue for him. Whatever Colby wanted, she could have.

After signing, Colby didn't spare him another glance and turned to leave.

Ruben had a bad feeling. Was Colby not upset at all about him having sex with another woman in the room? Or was she too disappointed? Would she hide somewhere to cry later?

The thought of Colby crying pained Ruben deeply. He was about to change clothes to comfort her, but Lesly's seductive charm was too hard to resist, and Ruben abandoned the idea.

Anyway, there were still over half a month left. Once Colby's health recovered, he would have no need for Lesly anymore.

The one-month birthday celebration arrived quickly, and Ruben was the happiest that day. By evening, he could have sex with Colby, and only with the woman he loved most did such moments hold meaning.

During the toast, Ruben publicly placed a vintage crown on Colby's head and solemnly kissed the back of her hand in front of everyone. "Colby, you are my princess forever."

The room erupted in applause, marveling at their passionate love.

Colby maintained a serene smile throughout, saying to Ruben, "I'm going to change into a dress worthy of this crown."

Without waiting for Ruben's agreement, she turned and left.

Ruben was puzzled, having expected Colby to be starry-eyed and run up to him upon seeing the crown. But then he realized Colby had seen countless treasures, and her current composure only deepened his fascination. So he decided not to dwell on it.

Colby arrived at the back garden where Brenda's car was already waiting.

Seeing her approach, Brenda warned, "Make sure you truly want this. If you regret it after going abroad, I'll use every means to stop you from returning."

Colby swiftly got into the car. "That's exactly what I want."

The car sped toward the airport. Brenda watched her determinedly leave and waited outside for another half-hour. When the airline confirmed Colby's plane had taken off, she made a call, "Remove all records of Colby's presence."

As the car headed back to the Gibson family's mansion, the driver couldn't hold back his question, "Madam, Ruben loves Colby so much. If he finds out you've done this..."

Brenda snorted, "He cheated on Colby during her pregnancy and drove her away. What does it have to do with me? If he wants to blame someone, blame him for not controlling his desires."
