Chapter 5 It's Been Over For A Long Time!!

Tatiana's Point of View

I had never felt so alone in my entire life. The once-familiar surroundings of Scott's villa seemed foreign and menacing, echoing with the hollow sound of my heartbeat. Standing before him, the man I thought I knew, my whole body trembled-not from fear, but from the cold betrayal that cut deeper than any knife.

"Scott," my voice barely rose above a whisper, each word soaked with the heaviness of my shattered heart. "What is going on? Please, I need to understand."

He stood there, his eyes void of the warmth I had fallen in love with. It was like looking at a stranger-a well-dressed facade without a soul.

My heart felt like a stone in my chest, heavy and cold, as I looked up at Scott. His indifferent stance seemed like a wall, impregnable and cold, standing between what we once had and the shattered remains of our relationship.

"Why, Scott? Why would you do this to us?" I asked, my voice trembling with a mix of rage and sorrow, struggling to stand up from the cold, hard floor. My eyes never left his, searching desperately for a sign of the man I loved beneath this stranger's facade.

Scott glanced down at his watch, then out the window, anywhere but at me. "Tatiana, you're making this into something it's not. It's just life. People change, feelings change," he said dismissively, his voice void of empathy.

"Feelings change? Is that your excuse? After everything we've been through?" My voice cracked, betraying the turmoil inside me. I stepped closer, my hands balled into fists at my sides. "Look at me, Scott! Tell me how you can justify this!"

He finally met my gaze, his eyes cold and detached. "Justify? I don't need to justify anything to you, Tatiana. It's my life, and I can live it however I please."

The dismissiveness of his words cut deeper than any betrayal. "Was it all lies, then? The promises, the dreams we shared?" I was fighting back tears now, each word a struggle against the tide of emotions threatening to overwhelm me.

"Tatiana, you're clinging to a past that's no longer relevant. What we had was good while it lasted, but it's over now." His tone was factual as if he was discussing the weather, not our ruined relationship.

"But why her, Scott? Why Katrina?" I pleaded for something, anything that might make sense of the chaos he'd thrust into my life.

Scott sighed, a sound of annoyance rather than remorse. "Because she's there, she's now. We connect in ways you and I haven't for a long time. It's that simple."

His words were like venom, poisoning what little hope I held onto. "Connect? Because I've been busy trying to keep everything afloat while you vanished into your new life? Is that my fault, then?"

"You're always the victim, aren't you, Tatiana?" He shook his head, his expression hardening. "Maybe it's not about fault. It's about reality. And the reality is, I'm with Katrina now.

"Scott, why are you doing this?" I managed to choke out, my eyes searching his for any sign of the man I loved.

"Tatiana, why are you here?" His voice was flat, and dismissive, as if my presence was nothing more than an inconvenience. "Did you come here to spy on me? To catch me out?"

The coldness in his tone stung, sending a new wave of tears spilling down my cheeks. "I came because your mother suggested it might help... help us. But all I find is you with her," my voice cracked as I gestured vaguely towards the door behind which Katrina had disappeared moments ago.

Scott scoffed a sound that made my skin crawl. "Help us? There is no 'us' to help, Tatiana. Not anymore."

I felt the room spin as his words landed like blows. "But I've never cheated on you, Scott. I've loved you, only you," I whispered, my entire frame shaking with the force of my emotions.

"And where has that gotten you, Tatiana?" His eyes finally met mine, and what I saw in them was chilling. There was no remorse, no pain. Just emptiness.

"Where have you been all these days? Tell me, Scott, have you been with her? With Katrina?" My voice rose, a mix of anger, pain, and desperation cutting through the heavy air.

Scott moved closer, his presence overpowering. "Yes, I've been with Katrina. She understands me in ways you never could." His words were like daggers, each one meticulously aimed to hurt.

"Why?" The question escaped my lips before I could stop it, a single word laden with so much pain.

"Why not, Tatiana? Life isn't a fairy tale. People change. They move on," he replied, his voice devoid of any emotion.

"There was nothing like us to begin with".

The dismissiveness of his words cut deeper than any betrayal. "Was it all lies, then? The promises, the dreams we shared? We were engaged, Scott!!!"

At the mention of our engagement, his demeanor turned icy. "Engaged?" He scoffed, and the sound was harsh, vicious. "That engagement became invalid the day I caught you cheating on me."
