The block in her chest came again, this time it was bigger. It was of some much discomfort that her breathing process felt forced, she had a hard time standing still. She felt like if she let it all out where she stood, she could blow off the building. She needed some space, she a break from packing as she ran off looking for refuge. She found the perfect spot, void of people. Evelyn fell to the floor as she opened the floodgates.
She had just lost her job, most terribly. Evelyn was once again laced with her misfortunes, and it gave her no warning. How was she to find a job replacement soon? how long would she remain jobless? what would happen to her delusions of grandeur? she wanted to get a new place so she could finally get to stay with Danny, that was her surprise. Now it was all ruined, she might as well move back in with her mother.
Just the mere mention of it sent chills down her spine, moving back in with her mother was like making a deal with the devil. It starts cozy and cheesy, but there's always trouble lurking further. What would Maya do in this situation? Evelyn was up and pacing about now as she ran random questions in her head. It's not like the stubborn bitch was ready to spill the beans about her side-hustle. Maybe the situation at hand will force her to.

" I found you. "
Evelyn heard an unfamiliar voice, she turned around to see the bald lady breathing heavily behind her.
Evelyn squinted as she tried to recall her name, somehow she always forgot it.
" It's Tam. " Tam came through for her.
" Yeah... Tam! " Evelyn pretended to remember, for all she knew her name could have been Morgana. " How did you find me? "
" I followed you here. "
" Is there something you wanna talk about? " Evelyn went straight to the point.
" I need your help. "
Evelyn was curious, here she was sulking about being jobless, and apparently, she was needed.
" My help? "
" Yeah, it's gonna benefit the both of us. "
Now Evelyn was hooked, " I'm all ears. "
" I have a deadline and it's affecting me from covering a story, I need your help with it. "
" You need my help with the story? why not conclude it after your deadline? "
" Evelyn, the news gets stale and when it does, it's useless. Plus when it's a juicy story, there are always multiple competitors and more money. "
Evelyn nodded, " What's the story? " She was concerned about the fact that this woman was offering her a story when she just got fired, was she not with the crowd?
Evelyn knew she had to act smart about it, if she was gonna lose, she might as well take home some trophies.
" You know the Polo twins? " Tam asked with her brows raised.
" Who doesn't? "
" I have proof that one of them is in a coma. "
Evelyn was stunned, she frantically glanced around to make sure they were alone, " Holy shit! "
" It was an accidental drowning, I'm led to believe it was done by a family member. "
" This is... this is unbelievable. "
" The family is keeping it under wraps, told the public that one of them is in Africa. "
" Well, that was a bloody lie. "
" Tell me about it, they've been hiding it for months, probably hoping he would wake up and everything would go back to normal. " Tam pitifully shook her head.
" What do you want me to do? "
" Having a meeting with the mother in my place, she has agreed to come out, but to me. Do you know how huge this is?
" Do I? " Evelyn's mood was changing, with this new information, she would be a hundred percent sure of securing another job. She could even sell the information to whoever pays the most, Evelyn was handed a miracle at her doorstep and she had baldie to thank for it.
" This is amazing, I'm more concerned about why you're giving me this. " Evelyn probed.
" I can't do everything myself, plus, I feel like you're the only one I can trust with this. "
Evelyn squinted, did she just hear trust? " You trust me? I don't even know you. "
" But I know you, will you do it? "
Evelyn had to think quickly, chances like this only come once in a lifetime. She glanced over to the envelope Tam had in her hands, " What's that? "
" Proof, just In case she doubts you. These are pictures. "
Evelyn snatched the envelope from her, " I'll do it. "
Tam was smiling now, " You must go alone, you know that right? "
" Of course. "

Tam was halfway across the hall, adorned with another look, her original look. She had successfully set the bait, now all she had to do was sit and watch. If things go as planned as she hoped they would, Evelyn would go down for her. She was aware that after all those missing information and withdrawn clients, someone would notice. She just didn't expect it to be so soon, but all that would be over soon. Thankfully, she already mastered the art of blending in so much that nobody notices her existence. It made the switches way easier, this was just planned A, hopefully, she won't get to accomplish plan B.

Evelyn was going through the pictures in amazement when she heard footsteps filling the area where she was. She took cover, realizing immediately that the footsteps were too many and rapid to be baldie.
" Brooke, for goodness sake, what are you doing here? "
Holy shit! Evelyn almost gagged, that was the bastard that fired her. But why did he seclude himself with a lady? As the skillful journalist she knew she was, she suspected something was off. She wasn't going to snooze on a possible opportunity to get the juice. She silently switched on her camera to capture whatever story was on its way.

Cameron's hands were on his waist as he stared in awe, " Answer the god-damn question! "
" What does it look like? " Brooke launched at him, " I wanted to talk to you. "
" I said we have nothing to talk about. "
" On the contrary, we do. "
Cameron had no choice, he had to hear her out. " Fine, what is it? "
" I miss you, I want us to do something together. "
Cameron's hands were the only thing that protected his laughter from escaping their midst, " Is this a joke? "
Brooke was disappointed, " I'm serious, take me seriously for once. "
" Did you forget the terms of our deal? "
" No__
" I pay you handsomely, the least you can do is what I ask you to. "
" Cameron, " Brooke took a leap of faith by touching his hands, " I know it's hard for you, I don't know your story but I__
Cameron violently knocked her hands from him, " Don't ever touch me again. "
" Cameron__
" You're fired. " He pointed at her with fury in his eyes, " You still have your measly job in the company, but I'm terminating the deal. "
Cameron was almost out of the room but he stopped, Brooke's bizarre laughter was the reason.
" What do you think you're doing? " He asked walking back to her.
" I'm done playing nice with you, you're an asshole. "
" What? "
" A hot, handsome, and rich asshole. "
Cameron was confused, he turned over to his back to confirm if he was who she was referring to.
" I think you forget that I'm a journalist. " Brooke replied.
" The way I see it, you'll be one without a job if these theatrics continue. "
" Do as I say or else, I'll go public. " Her voice was deeper, " You and I know what that would mean for your public persona. "
Cameron parked a stern smirk on the side of his lips, " Go on. "
" Go out with me, that's all I say. "
His look became more intense, " To where? " he had other thoughts immediately cooking up inside his head.
" Two places. " Her lips trembled. She didn't expect to see Cameron responding positively. That meant she was on cue, she would continue.
Cameron folded his arm and scrutinized her. Maybe it was time for the test project, align with a female. He took one powerful step closer to her, he wanted to stir her up, to figure out what more lines she would cross.
" What if I change my mind. "
Brooke pulled away, " Slow down soldier, I have information about you. "
He lightly nodded.
" Poor guy, he's a fully grown adult and he hasn't had sex yet. He's afraid of women perhaps? Does he have a disease? a deformity? is he a pervert? serial killer? occultic? " Brooke snapped her fingers, " That is what the tabloids is gonna say when I tell them you paid me to be your girlfriend! "
Cameron was getting worried. Still he maintained composure " You don't have to go far. "
" Then journalists would investigate you, they would want to know your story, your background. It won't take them long enough, they'll find your mother... and__
" I'll go on the date. " Cameron had to cut her short before she concluded that dreaded sentence.
" Act like the fucking boyfriend that you are. "
" I can't... I can't be intimate with you Brooke. " Cameron was feeling defeated, he was breaking down, he despised it. " But I think your father wouldn't want the public to know that he killed a total of seven people last year, OFF DUTY. " His stare was enough go kill a horse.
Brooke was startled, " Cameron... "
" Now listen to me you peasant, you don't know who I fucking am. I'll think about going with you to your public stunts, but don't you dare disrespect me Brooke. I'll break you so bad that even God won't be able to fix you. "
Her eyes became heavy, she began to shiver.
" Disappear. " He whistled.
And Brooke did.

Evelyn staggered out of her hiding place once the coast seemed clear. Her phone was held tightly in her trembling hands. What the fuck just happened? she just witnessed the first place movie of a lifetime. She got it all on video, it will only broaden her chances. It was an unfortunate situation, but it's not like she was in a position to give a damn. This discovery would change her fate and she knew just how to actualize it.
Evelyn majestically matched to the office, big smiles on her face as she made her way to the door. Ignoring the fact that Danny and Ingrid were inside, she strolled straight toward Cameron, her eyes fixed on him as he laced a perplexed/bewildered look at her.
" What the hell are you doing here? " Cameron asked, he was already pissed as it is.
Evelyn boldly took a seat, shocking her onlookers even more, " Excuse me, boss, I'm here to demand my job back, and you WILL give it to me. "
