Chapter 5 05: Table of surprise

''So this dude is working here?''Caleb asked himself, as he hurriedly entered the empire's building. The worst is that James was even holding the waist of two women, possibly his secret concubines, and was playing around with them.

''I see. So this is what these workers have been doing here? They don't have regards for work ethics. I will see to this'' Caleb again, said to himself. He was displeased with what he was seeing.

He quickly hurried into the empire's building, where he met some sets of fifteen police armed personnel who were already waiting for him. They were strictly warned not to tell anyone their mission that morning in the empire, and not even the acting manager ''Mr. Stone Bernard''. The police personnel were there under the command of Caleb's dad, who wanted to ensure strict security of his son.

''Greetings Mr.Stone''Caleb greeted the manager, as he bathed into his office.

The manager who relaxed his legs on the table while eating fried rice and chicken, quickly boned his face, and was mouth-dropped. He wasn't expecting that Caleb would ever return back.

''What! Oh, it's you, Caleb. What are you doing here?''He said.

''I came for an official affair, under the command of my father''

''What command is that, if I may ask?''Mr. Stone asked.

''I came to take over my empire, officially'' Caleb informed, as he sat on the chair, facing Mr. Stone, who was now very confused.

''I learnt that you're the manager right? If so, I want you to handover every document regarding your office in less than one hour, and you should also inform all the executives of this empire to do so, as I would be having a general meeting with all workers and staffs today 'Caleb informed.

''No, you don't have the right to hasten us this early morning, to submit all document's leading to our offices. It's very impromptu''Mr.Stone said.

His phone immediately rang, and he saw that it was Mr. George, Caleb's father, who was calling. After picking the call and they talked, his face and mood changed. He has been informed by Mr. George, to take orders from his son, as he is the heir of the empire.

Caleb then stood up, and left the office, knowing that Mr. Stone is his father's enemy, who has been stirring the minds of all workers against his family.

''Let's meet quickly at the meeting table'' Caleb told him.

Thirty minutes later, all the empire's executives were seen having an urgent meeting with Caleb. James was also there, to represent the sales department. Caleb was not happy that James of all people was the H.O.D, of the sale's department. He will definitely probe him.

James also was very surprised that Caleb was the heir and probably going to be the new president of the empire.

Everyone who was part of the empire's executives, were just maintaining some strict silence and discipline before Caleb, since they didn't know what was in his mind.

Seeing him means that their proposed secret agenda would be halted. It simply means that there would be war between them and Caleb.

''I thank you all, for all the great things you have done to see that this empire moved forward. However, I have been informed that the empire is currently facing its darkest periods and for this reason, I have come to take over my father's business, since I'm the heir. Yes, I'm the heir. Meanwhile, I don't want any of you to feel down with the things I would soon be doing. I would have taken a drastic, painful and hurtful decision, just to bring back this empire to its glorious days and In respect to this, I thereby, dissolve every one of you. In a few hours from now, I shall be unveiling the new empire's management'' Caleb informed the already outgoing executives, while in the presence of the empire's lawyer ''Barrister Newman'', who was there to take records of the transition processes, and for record purposes.

All the executives reacted positively towards his words, and they did this on purpose so that Caleb wouldn't have suspicions about them.

After the meeting, Caleb went to his father's office, which is automatically his. He was seen gazing at the files of various workers, who were having an outstanding performance in the empire. He was very surprised that none of the outgoing executives were performing great. He wondered why in the first place, they were ever made to be leaders in the empire, as there was nothing good to write home about them. He checked the file belonging to the outgoing acting president, ''Mr. Stone'', and nothing good was found about him.

Two hours later, he started to call some workers into his office. He congratulated them, and informed them that they have been appointed not by favoritism or nepotism, but by merit, to be the new empire's management body.

Each of them were shocked, as they never believed that a day would come that they would be mandated to lead the empire, knowing that the previous leaders were all corrupt and wicked.

They all accepted the new position that had been given to them, and were told by Caleb to get ready for an emergency handover.

Thirty minutes later, Caleb again, was seen having a general meeting with all the empire's workers. He spoke extensively to them, informing them that there is a change of leadership position, and that everyone should be up and doing, as he would not tolerate any form of mal-administration from any member of the empire.

He spoke on how he would increase their remuneration and wages soon and after this, a proper handover was made.

Most of the worker's were happy, seeing that all the people that were given an executive position by Caleb were extremely outstanding. Truly, they all deserved it.

''I therefore encourage you all to continue with your various jobs. Today and possibly throughout this week, we shall still be on the bridge of transition. After this week, we shall balance, and stand strong. Thank you all 'Caleb informed, as he let everyone except the new and outgoing executives out of the hall.

''We should be going to the bank right away, to change the empire's signatories'' Caleb said.

As they walked out of the empire's building, a police man quickly pushed Caleb, leaving him to fall on the ground. Everyone with him, all ran to their heels.

Caleb after regaining consciousness turned and saw that a masked man was pointing an AK47 gun at him.
