Chapter 5 The sixth and last law of wealth

"The journey of life takes us from childhood to old age. No one can escape this path unless the Gods call them to the afterlife prematurely. Therefore, it's essential to prepare for the future, when you're no longer young and able to work. You must think about providing for yourself and your family when you're no longer around to support them. This lesson will teach you how to build a secure financial future."

On the sixth day, Solomon addressed his class, emphasizing the importance of planning for the future. "A wise man who understands the laws of wealth will create a growing surplus and think about the years to come. He should invest in assets that will endure for many years, yet be accessible when needed"

"It's clear that making small, regular payments can lead to significant financial gains. Therefore, every man should prioritize saving for his old age and his family's protection, regardless of his current business success.

"Since we live in the present, we must use available methods to achieve our goals. I advise all men to plan wisely and provide for their financial future. A lean purse can be a tragedy for a man who can no longer work or for a family without its breadwinner.

"This is the sixth way to cure a lean purse: prepare in advance for your financial needs in old age and protect your family."

In essence, Solomon emphasizes the importance of saving regularly, planning for the future, avoiding financial tragedy in old age and creating a stable financial foundation.

"Today, I want to talk to you about a crucial step in achieving financial success. It's not about gold or money, but about the person you are and your mindset. I'll share a story about a young man who came to me for a loan because he couldn't cover his expenses. I told him that he needed to increase his income, not borrow more money.

"He said he had asked his master for a raise six times in two months, but was unsuccessful. While his approach was simple-minded, he had a strong desire to earn more, which is essential for success.

"Before achieving anything, you must have a strong desire. Vague wishes won't get you far. Instead, set specific goals, like saving five gold coins. Once you achieve that, you can set your sights on bigger goals, like ten, twenty, or even a thousand coins. This is how wealth is built: starting small and gradually increasing your capacity to earn and save.

"The key is to have a clear and definite desire, backed by determination and hard work. By achieving small goals, you'll develop the skills and confidence to tackle bigger ones, leading to greater financial success."

"Desires must be clear and achievable. Having too many or unclear goals can lead to failure. As a person improves their skills and expertise, their earning potential increases.

"When I was a young scribe, I noticed others were more successful and earned more. I decided to work harder and improve my skills. I focused on my task, persisted in my efforts, and soon I was carving more tablets than others. My increased skill was soon recognized, and I didn't need to ask for a raise.

"The more knowledge and wisdom we acquire, the more we can earn. Seek to learn more about your craft, and you will be rewarded. Whether you're an artisan, lawyer, healer, or merchant, continually seek to improve and exchange knowledge with others.

"Always strive to be at the forefront of progress and improvement. Don't stand still, or you'll be left behind."

"The seventh and final remedy for a lean purse is to cultivate your own powers, study, become wiser, and improve your skills. By doing so, you'll become more capable and increase your earning potential."

"By following these timeless principles, you will gain confidence in your ability to achieve your well-thought-out desires. These truths, born from a long and successful life, are essential for anyone seeking wealth.
